Flash Player & AMD

So.... It starts after I my PC went back to the body shop a couple of weeks ago. It came back fixed (new motherboard) & with a new set of Windows 8 loaded.
Soon I started having troubles with the message 'Display driver has crashed & recovered'... over a period this got worse & I was crashing out of Firefox altogether. In desperation I uninstalled AMD (I don't game) & let the system run on windows drivers - which is OK for my needs.
However, when I tried to run a catch-up vid on 4od I got the 'Flash Player has crashed' ---- I tried Youtube - same result.
I uninstalled the flash player & downloaded the current version --- still crashing!
OK - back on with AMD (on a suck it & see basis) this download gave me the full 9 yards - complete with control planel.
Flash player works again, but I have just started having the 'Display driver has crashed & recovered'.
Please help - is there anyway I can run Flash Player without AMD?
Firefox 33.1
Windows 8 64 bit
Flash Player 15.0.0223
Any help appreciated   - Stan

It sounds like a bug in your graphics drivers.  You can disable hardware acceleration in either Flash or the browser to work around this.  You take a big hit to battery life and performance by doing this.  You should keep an eye out for updated graphics drivers for your hardware.
For Firefox (or Google Chrome), just right-click on some Flash content and choose Settings.  Click the left-most tab and uncheck Use Hardware Acceleration.
For Internet Explorer, you have to disable Hardware Acceleration for the whole browser:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2528233
Most of the browser use hardware acceleration as well these days.  If you continue to have stability problems after disabling hardware acceleration in Flash, you may need to repeat the process for the browser itself.

  • Flash player hanging up and crashing on all web browsers. Problem turned out to be AMD drivers

I have been having a problem running Flash Player, green screens, hang ups, crashes etc on my machine. I tried various solutions and every major and some not so major web browsers all to no avail. I tried reinstalling my windows 8.1 no good also tried running 8 and 7 all 64 versions. No go I came a cross a post about a problem with Flash and AMD that seems to recur every nown and then. I have a AMD HD 6670 1 gig GDDR5 PCI-E 2 card so I tried going back through AMD drivers untill I was able to get it to function properly. Finally I ended up using the driver from Dec 2013 13-12_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql along with the AMD Media Codec Package from Aug 2012 12-8_vista_win7_win8_32-64_xcode Flash is now playing with no problems. I thought I would share the solution I used in case it might help others.

I haven't run across this, though I did see a Firefox fileupload bug yesterday (https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=2980517).  Would you mind opening a new bug on this over at bugbase.adobe.com?  Please include URLs where you're seeing this behavior and we'll investigate further.

  • Flash player freeze a lot when playing Youtube videos fullscreen from Linux, but plays ok from Windows (CPU: AMD APU)

Flash player freeze a lot when playing Youtube videos fullscreen from Linux, but plays videos ok from Windows (CPU: AMD APU).
When playing video in default size it's OK (windows and Linux), but when setting video in full screen, on Linux there's troubles: video is hashed (freeze every 3 seconds).

Hi s, well congrats on getting your brother's computer up and running. On your system, you have all correct Flash Player
files for IE and FF, as well as the SWO and SWF.
Since the Install of Flash Player, have you installed any programs that would have added any ActiveX Controls, or any other add ons or plug-ins?
Have you had an opportunity to see if your brother's computer has the issue you have when watching the same websites?
Are you using any ad-block in FF(Firefox) or any pop up blocker software installed?  I can't imagine updating to FP version 10 alone would cause this.
Is this happening only on the BBC website? Does what you watch come thru the BBC website or youtube directly?
We have your brother's computer to use to determine what is going on. If he is able to see the BBC website and what you
are having problems with, then we can rule out the website.
Other browser add ons, anti-virus programs, etc. affect the browser. Even tho, no problem with vs 9. Sometimes updates
can have an affect, even with Windows as we all know:-)

  • Shockwave and Flash Player installed works fine but it says damaged in the dependency tab.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit. When I go to
downloaded programs in windows where your active x programs are.
The icons on the leftt of shockwave player are white. I right click
on the shockwave player and click on properties and in the
dependency tab has nothing in the file name. Over to the right size
bites says damaged. On the download programs itself where the
shockwave player is the status says installed and the bite size
says 4 KB it did not it did not say damage only in the dependency
tab. My shockwave programs and games work fine. On the dependency
it has this message,This page lists the 1 file (s) amd 0 java
packages upon which shockwave active x controls depends on. I tried
uninstalling and reinstalling about 5 times and the samething came
up. If it has to run on the main package java the samething is
there too. There too it is installed and the bites are okay the
only place it says damage is in the dependency tab. I unstalled
that and reinstalled it the same number of times and the samething
appeared. Flash player the same way. How do I fix this problem? In
dowloaded programs I also have another shockwave active x control
with the same version and 2 java of the same version. Also after I
uninstall shockwave player I go to manage add ons and delete the
one that is still there and in the downloaded programs it has
unknown with a bunch of letters. There is no way to delete that
when you right click it you only see properties.

  • Flash Player doesn't play smoothly and out of sync in full screen

    Hello! Everyone
The flash player (11.2.202.235) does not play smoothly and in full screen audio and vidoe is out of sync.  I didn't use to have any problem at all, it only started about two weeks ago and since then despite trying various things (i.e. disabling hardware excelration, uninstalling & reinstalling, trying various browsers etc.) has not resolved the issue.  I don't know why it has suddenly stopped playing smoothly as I have not installed any software recently which might have cuased this.
I am using Windows XP (service pack3) and have dual partion with dual operating system (both XP).  There is the same problem on both operarting system and flash player won't run smoothly on either of them.  Although my computer and graphics card is quite old but the downloaded movies/DVD playback is fine even in full screen.  It runs smoothly and audio&video is in sync so I don't think it could my the graphics card.
As I mentioned I have tried all the browsers but without any luck.  The BBC iplayer plays ok most of the time if not in full screen but as soon as you make it full screen the vidoe is more like a slide show and very jittery and audio&video gets out of sync.  Same with youtube vidoes, they play ok when not in full screen but the video in full screen does not play smoothly and audio&vidoes gets out of sync.  However the ITV player & Channel 4 content on 4OD does not even play smoothly when not in full screen and the video&audio is out of sync all the time.
It would be really helpful if anyone can suggest anything to resolve this issue as I have not been able to find anything on the internet to solve the problem and its driving me up the wall.  Although I have tried to include as much details as I could think of so please let me know if I have missed any details that could be crucial in order to identify the problem.
Thank you very much for reading this and taking the time to reply and your feedback.

Would you mind opening a new bug on this at bugbase.adobe.com?  Please include your dxdiag report, a specific URL and a link to this forum thread.
In the meantime, you might want to try our 11.3 beta or rollback to a previous version of the player to see if that resolves the problem.

  • Adobe Flash Player don't show videos on YouTube after some point - Black Screen only

Hello. I have a problem with Flash Player on YouTube. It has crashed many, many times so I decided to open this thread for let you know about it if you don't know already.
Now, I've got no crash reports or anything but it crashes after some point. Even if it doesn't give me crash report, I understand it because YouTube videos don't run and I got only black screen. When I tried to close (click "X" at right above) Firefox, it denies to close with some click sounds. I can only close with combination of CTRL+ALT+DELETE and terminate process. After I closed Firefox and open new page, it works fine until I get the same situation.
By the way, I have laptop with these specs:
    Intel Core i5 3210m
AMD Radeon 7670m + Intel HD 4000 ( with AMD Switchable Graphics called Enduro )
    8 GB Ram
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
I don't know what problem is causing it so I couldn't give you much information. But if you need any information, I'll try to help. Thanks in advance.
P.S: I'm sorry for the bad English.

Thanks for your reply. I totally forgot the topic, sorry.
I've solved the issue, just disabled hardware acceleration feature from Preferences menu and everything is working well now.

  • After installing Radeon Graphics drivers on Windows 8 Flash player and Adobe Flash Pro didn't re-ins

    Hi,
On a Windows 8 Pro desktop I recently installed Flash Pro and it seemed to work great.   Also Flash Player was working great as well.  But I noticed on Adobe  Photoshop CS6 that the 3d controls were not working.  So I installed the the Radeon Graphics AMD Catylyst Control series for an onder 4800 series graphics card.   Has anyone else had problems with 4800 series AMD ATI video cards?  Any suggestions after reviewing the tables below?
I then noticed that the 3d controls in Adobe Photoshop worked great. But...
Later, however, I noticed that Flash Play would green screen on some videos in IE10.  So I tried to follow the Flash Player repair procedure such as remove checkbox on Active X Filter,  Adding Compatibility mode without success in IE so I installed Mozilla Fire Fox and re-installed flash player etc... which worke don Mozilla but not IE10.  So I'm thinking this new software from AMD caused several problems to occur and not sure how to fix them. I still want 3d controls on my video card and now I'm thinking about starting a fresh install before installing Adobe software with a new NVidia card or a trusted AMD ATI card because this legacy 4800 doesn't seem to be cutting.
Here is my system settings and after this table are the errors I got upon reinstalling Flash pro.    Note: These were not critical errors so I was still able to run Flash Pro.  I was never able to run Flash Player on IE10 after upgrading my video card software (Catalyst Control Center).   However Flash Player does seem to work great on Mozilla Firefox after re-installing Adobe Flash.   When I try to install Flash Player in IE10 I get a title screen of "Update Flash" with no content whatsover.

Regarding the Flash Player problem, disable Hardware Acceleration to circumvent driver incompatibilities.

  • Can't install Flash Player 11.8; also crashes in Google Chrome

    Hello!
I'm trying to update to Flash Player 11.8 within Google Chrome, but am unable to. I know Chrome automatically updates its internal version of Flash, but this didn't happen with the latest version. I have tried disabling the internal version and installing the external application, but it doesn't work. I can download the program just fine. When I go to install it, I click Run and nothing happens. Also, the installer file disappears from my downloads folder after I click Run.
Also, when I try to run anything having to do with Flash in Chrome, the plugin crashes. I have tried many of your suggestions (enabling the NPAPI version and disabling the PPAPI version, uninstalling the whole program, disabling Trend Micro Internet Security 2012, disabling SuperANTISpyware, along with reinstalling (which also crashes as described above)). This only happens on one laptop and I know the settings between my two laptops are the same. I'm also getting a message about having to log into Windows as an Administrator even though I've already done so.
Specs for the laptop with issues:
    Late 2011 Macbook Pro
    15.4-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy display (1440 x 900)
AMD Radeon HD 6770M graphics processor with 1GB of GDDR5 memory
Intel HD Graphics 3000 with 384MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory
    Automatic graphics switching
Full-size backlit keyboard with 78 (U.S.) keys, including 12 function keys and 4 arrow keys (inverted “T” arrangement)
Multi-Touch trackpad for precise cursor control; supports inertial scrolling, pinch, rotate, swipe, three-finger swipe, four-finger swipe, tap, double-tap, and drag capabilities
    2.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with 6MB shared L3 cache
    8GB (two 4GB SO-DIMMs) of 1333MHz DDR3 memory
750GB 5400-rpm Serial ATA hard drive (split into two partitions of 375GB each)
OS X Mountain Lion and Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1 (installed via Bootcamp)
    Google Chrome 28.0.1500.72
The version of Flash Player installed on here is 11.8.800.97 (PPAPI). I current have this disabled.
I'm not sure how to fix this issue as the internal Flash installation for Chrome was stuck at 11.7 and would not update. I would really love to get this to update and work properly as I'm tired of seeing the "new version of Flash Player available for install" popup when I boot up the computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

That IS a pain, isn't it?

That link tells how to keep your bookmarks and passwords when reinstalling. I'd say save them per the instructions, uninstall Chrome altogether, and redownload it. It should have the updated version of Flash in it. If not, download the Adobe Flash Player installer directly by clicking the following link.

  • Flash Player Lags

All the time Flashplayer lags - when I play Fruit Ninja on Facebook, my videos lag, mainly on fullscreen but sometimes it lags not on fullscreen. I'm tired of this. I have these problems since months now...

I got the latest flash player and I'm using Mozilla Firefox. But the problem is not in the browser cause I use Firefox since I have internet connection and I didn't had any of these problems about 3 months ago

  • Flash player causing blue screen upon loading video

    Hello,
I have recently bought a new system. Everything runs  perfectly except for one critical problem; I can't view flash videos or  anything played in a web browser by flash player.
Animated flash  advertisements will load to the first couple of frames, I will hear a  bit of noise and then a brief 1-2 second system hang and straight in to a  bluescreen. Same goes for youtube etc, might see a frame, if that, a  brief noise and hang/bluescreen. This has occurred since I have  purchased the PC.
I have attempted to fix the problem by updating  my graphics drivers to the latest, updating flash player to the latest,  updating sound drivers to the latest.
    System:
    AMD i5 750
    ATI  Radeon 5870
    Realtek audio
    Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
    Mozilla Firefox 3.6.6 -------------> Flash player 10.1
I am just viewing the bluescreen  dump file, there is no bug check string, however it seems to indicate an  AMD/graphics driver causing the conflict.

I don't know if it is Flash player particularly causing the problem, or if there is a conflict between it and some hardware.
    So,  can anyone help?

i'm having the same problem as the OP,
    System:
    Intel Q6600
    ATI  Radeon 4850 (drivers v10.9)
    Realtek audio
Windows vista home premium 32-bit (auto-updates)
    Chrome 6 & ie8  Flash player 10.1
    my BSOD returned the error code: 0x00000116 (0x8505F150, 0x8F1E98B0, 0x00000000, 0x00000002)
    atikmpag.sys - Address 8F1E98B0 base at 8F1E4000, datestamp today
it started before last summer, it doesn't happen often but lets just say its making me rather nervous to use youtube and other sites that use flash now.
i've read allot of people have this problem and have traced it to using flash. i hope somebody at adobe is listening and not trying to blame hardware makers or drivers about this problem.
i disabled hardware acceleration, i hope this does the trick until a real fix can be found
btw if any flash animation gives a BSOD how else could we turn it off ? Think about it for a second people

  • Flash Player NO longer working wtih Win8 64bit IE 10

I have an HP Win8 machine that I have had since the first week of Nov 2012 that Win8 came out....and while there were issues with getting Flash to work I found out it's embedded in IE10 and Win8 and it was working fine for almost a year...until a week ago...Now I get the GREEN screen of death on ALL sites trying to play Flash Videos in IE 10 only.  It works FINE in Chrome.  This is crippling my use of IE 10, and making things very difficult and there seems to be NO answer.  I have tried all the normal rigmarole from making sure Shockwave Flash is ENABLED, to disabling Active X Filtering, etc, etc...and NOTHING works.  I can't even install the BETA version of Flashplayer 11-9 b/c Win8/IE10 Blocks the install from even happening....PLEASE HELP.
    John

Green screen is caused by one or more of three things.
    1. Outdated video drivers (not likely given it's a new comp) I have an AMD Radeon HD 7950 that came with this new machine and it's supposed to be a HD Video/Graphics card MORE than capable of handling Gaming and Video...never mind Flash.  I have already checked and my drivers are UP TO DATE and nothing is showing a Conflict and again...CHROME plays the same videos via Flash A-OK fine.
    2. Corrupted video drivers  Not likely as EVERTHING else works fine.
    3. Insufficient video hardware (again, not likely)  NOT the case.
I'd recommend updatinf your video drivers to repair them.  I already tried and I am fully up to date.  Can't fix what's NOT broken.

This link is useless as 99% of us out here are running Win8/64 bit in Desktop or Classic Mode and NONE of these issues are applicable.  I am not hating on your help, but it's SOOOO frustrating when two HUGE Companies like MS and Adobe cannot do a SIMPLE thing like this in LATE 2013.....

  • Video post processing/quality control no longer works in flash player

I use to watch videos via http://www.channel5.com and was able to use the post processing features in the AMD driver to improve the picture quality.
Now, it no longer works. Is this because hardware acceleration isn't working?
For a while I was able to use it in Internet Explorer, Sometimes in Firefox but never in Chrome. Now even with internet explorer it doesn't seem to work correctly.
I am using the latest flash versions for all platforms and the latest browser and driver version from AMD too.
Has Adobe changed something with the latest version of flash which cause a problem with the AMD Driver? Why is there no longer a Hardware Acceleration check-box in Internet Explorer?
I am using Windows 8.1 and I have the setting in the AMD CCC "apply current vdieo quality settings to internet video" checked. I have made sure in Firefox and Chrome hardware acceleration is enabled both in flash player settings and in the browser settings.
Thanks for any pointers you can give.

It may be for you, but it isn't for me in Internet Explorer, by comparison though, there is the box available in Chrome and Firefox...although in Chrome it doesn't do anything.
I did some more testing; With Internet Explorer hardware acceleration seems to be dependant on the website you watch.
For example, using IE to visit http://www.dailymotion.com the post processing options work fine, but when on http://www.channel5.com they do not. Is there any reason why this is?
As for other browsers, it seems hardware acceleration just isn't working at all since post processing never works on chrome.
On Firefox it seems to behave the same way as IE, e.g it works on some sites but not others.
I thought I may be able to get around this by disabling the pepper flash player in chrome, but it doesn't seem to make any difference, either its still using the built-in one or it still doesn't work at all with hardware acceleration.
Either way none of these achieve what I was able too before, get hardware acceleration working with http://www.channel5.com .

  • Flash player crashes 100% of the time

Over the past several weeks, Adobe Flash Player crashes 100% of the time.  How can this be fixed?
I also have a problem with the AMD graphics driver and the catalyst manager.
Also, the g, h, 4, and / keys only work about half the time.
Are these problems all tied together?

Turns out, there were crumbs of an old DW (cs1) still hiding out.  With the newer UNINSTALL option, there is no more drag-app-to-trash (which caused the conflict).  I used the adobe clean script to reinstall fresh, and all is good.
