Flash Player and Reader won't download

Hi, I've been trying to resolve this problem for months.  I can download the installation files, run them, give access permission.....then nothing happens.  I've tried everything.  I've uninstalled the previous versions, turned off my firewall and antivirus programs, run scans, enabled javascript (where I can find the option), etc.  I now have no Flash or Reader on my computer.  Help!

  • How to Disable the Adobe Flash Player and Reader Updates

Ok, For the last two months or so, I have been plagued by the Adobe Flash Player and Reader updater that will not go away. That's not the worst thing though: Somehow, someway, the Adobe updater subverts my entire windows 7 machine and makes itself the most important program on my system, stopping all other necessary functions. After I just turn it on, the updater will suspend all Windows operations in favor of the updater getting its message out the Adobe "needs" updating. I have tried updating the stupid thing, only to find that after the update goes in, my whole computer locks up and I have to load a system restore point. This thing acts like a virus, and until someone comes up with a way to make it work properly, that's what I'm calling: Adobe creates and sells a computer killing virus. I want a sure fire way to disable the updater that will work, and that will never bug me again about updating the virus. After going through three different computer repair companies, many online forums and chat rooms and my own knowledge of how to disable programs, I have instructed my firewall to block all attempts by Adobe to update. This has to stop.

  • Flash player for safari won't download

Flash Player for Safari 7.04 won't download. It's not an antivirus issue because it's turned off, everything is enabled.

    Chris,
My problem was that while the installer downloaded, the installation process always crapped out and gave me this error message: "Error: Unable to proceed with the installation". Tried everything and none of it worked. I COULD download v12 of Flash, but noticed that it used a different style of installer that has a simpler, "chunkier" progress bar and overall look, and doesn't ask about whether Flash should check for updates automatically until AFTER the install was done (different from the standard v14 installer, which has a skinnier progress bar and prompts you about auto updates before most of the installation happens).
Just saw your post, downloaded the installer from the macromedia link you provided, and it installed fine! Superfast. Done and done.
In doing so, however, I noticed that the alt version of the v14 Flash installer from your link also has the same simpler, chunkier type of installer as v12. is there a know problem with the standard (skinny progress bar) version of the installer and Mavericks? This has happened before, and I'm now just realizing that the installs only ever work with the "alt" style of installer.
    a) Is Adobe aware of this problem? are they working to make a fix so that i don't have to pull my hair out everytime there's a new security update for Flash?
    b) Would you please consider posting your solution in a more obvious place? I'm betting there are a lot of other Mac users having this issue, but because Adobe help can be sort of a byzantine mess (not you, obviously, but the system itself) I'm betting there are a ton of Mac users that are just giving up, like I almost did. Making this issue known, and positing the alt download will save many people many hours of grief.
    Thanks for posting your solution!
    Cheers,
    M
FYI: I'm on a MacBook Pro with Retina (original) running 10.9.3. I have a 750 GB SSD hard drive, 16 GB of RAM, and a 2.7 GHz Core i7 processor.

  • Why do some pages require flash player and why cant i download it and get it to work.

i have uninstalled, reinstalled etc.  2011 MBP.  why does'nt quicktime do what flash player says it does?

First point: I don't know why they don't just have the PKG file for download, other than it's harder for unscrupulous folks to make a DMG that will pass the "Gatekeeper" checksum.
Second point: Since the browser uses the Flash Player Plugin, trying to update it while the browser is running would be akin to trying to change your oil while driving down the freeway at 70MPH. And then there's the whole "admin password needed" thing, that would prevent "blind updates".
You can always download the offline installer: Flash Player (For Mac OS X) and run it whenever you want.

  • Adobe flash player and reading pdf files.

I've recently been having issues with Safari reading online pdf files and loading up sites using adobe flash player.
I've somehow tracked down a temporary solve by going into Safari's "preferences", then the security tab.
Where it shows "internet plug-ins" I have it checked so it can load adobe flash. But when it comes to reading pdf files (adobe reader)
I have to uncheck "internet plug ins". So in turn I can read the pdfs, but not use adobe flash player.
There seems to be a conflict between the adobe reader and flash player that I can use both at the same time.
Any suggestions on how to correct this issue?
Here's a screenshot of what I have. And if I have to delete one of these plug-ins how can I do this as I don't see any options to do so.

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to print by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar may appear under the cursor. Click the printer icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
    Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
    Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others — I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

  • Adobe Flash Player and Reader

Any advice on what to do about these two items? Should I just trash the current versions until the fixes are available rather than risk hacker problems? Are there viable alternatives to these two products?

    No...this one...

....that link will initiate the download...
...again you need to weigh the risk of hackers versus pre-release software....be careful and have your system backed up....in case....

  • Adobe flash player and labview

    Hi
How can I make labview interact with adobe flash player and read variables?
Adobe flash player is displayed by internet explorer and I'm using Adobe Flash player 10, with labview 8.2

I have not checked this out as I leave the Googling to you. But I will not be suprised if adobe do not have an activex player you can use for free.
Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted
(Sorry no Labview "brag list" so far)

  • When I want to play a video, it asks me to download the latest Adobe Flash player, and the iPad won't do that.

When I want to play a video, it asks me to download the latest Adobe Flash player, and the iPad won't do that.

The iPad doesn't and never will support the Flash program. You will need to download and install a different browser like the aforementioned Skyfire. Photon and Puffin are also mentioned as browsers that support Flash. Or see if the place you're accessing that video from has an app.

  • Flash Player And adobe reader not working and downloads don't work

I have IE 8 and windows vista and everything has worked great for 2 years until 2 or 3 weeks ago.  At that time my flash player stopped working so I could no longer get videos , streaming stock quotes, weather map loops, etc and when I go to websites that use Flash (i.e. Piaaz Hut) it wouldn't work.  Also, at that same time my adobe reader stopped working properly and I can't view mosy PDF Files.
I have gone through many of the posts on this forum and have tried many of the fixes, but none have work for me.
I tried to uninstall the Flash Player, but I didn't use the Adobe uninstaller.
Whenever I try to update or load the Flash player, a dialog box with the globe tossing papers to the folder appears and then after a few seconds I get the the message that IE can't install_flash_player_ax.exe from fp download.adobe.com, and then a message that says IE was not able to open this internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found.
In control panel programs I have listed
    Adobe AIR      no size
Adobe Flash Player 10 active X           no size
    Adobe Reader 9.3     141mb
    Macromedia Shockwave player      no size
In Tools i have the following add ons and they are all enabled
    Shockwave Flash object 10.0.42.34
    Adobe PDF Link Helper
    Adobe PDF Reader
Macromedia Shockwave Active X Control 10.1
As I said I've already attempted a number of the fixes on this forum, but so far no luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I might try?
    Thanks

Ok, I tried to download the firefox browser but IE wouldn't let me download it.  My friend downloaded it from their computer to a flash drive and I loaded it to my computer from the flash drive.  The download of Firefox from the flash drive worked, and now I'm using Firefox & both my adobe flash player and my adobe reader are working just great.
However, neither the flash player nor the reader are working if I use IE, so I guess I will just have to use Firefox as my browser.
I'm going to mark my question as answered since I really don't care that I have to use Firefox instead of IE,although I can't understand why it works using Firefox but not using IE.
Thank you so much for your assistance in walking me step-by-step through this problem until I was able to reach a satisfactory solution.

  • What is flash player and why do i have to download it ?

My computer won't show any videos on safari because it says I need to update flash player. What is flash player and why do i have to download it? I thought flash player comes with your computer.

    1. A browser plugin for Flash content.
    2. Apple no longer bundles it with Mac OS X.
