Flash player blank in IE9

Flash Player does not work in IE9. This problem appears to have started when I tried the 64-bit version of the player. I have since:
Uninstalled and reinstalled IE9.
Uninstalled Flash Player 10 and 11.
Installed Flash Player 10.
Reset Explorer settings to default.
Open http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ in Internet Explorer 9
Flash video does not play (video area is white).
Version # displays for a fraction of a second before becoming blank.
Right-click on either Flash area opens Flash drop-down menus.
Note: on other sites with Flash content, audio plays properly but video is blank.
Firefox, Chrome and Safari work properly.
I'm using Windows 7 (64 -bit), IE9.0.1 (32-bit) and Flash Player 10.3.181.34 (32-bit)
I suspect the uninstaller missed a file or something similar, but I don't know where to look (I'm primarily a Mac user).
TIA,  Eric

Sorry, I haven't seen this post before.  That means that Flash Player basically works.
Can you go to the Global Settings pages and see if changing any of these settings may help:

  • Latest Flash player problems on IE9 and Win7

After many attempts, I was finally able to install latest Flash on IE9. Installer said successfully installed. Every page visited afterwards poped up an IE error that Flash Player would open outside of protected mode. Previous version did not cause error. IE settings have not changed. Used Flash uninstaller. Dowloaded Flash for IE and also non IE. Installed IE version. Installer said installation was sucessful.Same protected mode popup.

    Thanks Chris,
I used Beyond Compare to verify that the uninstaller was the same as what I had used previously. It was.
The only thing that is different than what I had done previously is deleting the macromed folder. It contained 6 .cfg files in /flash/flashplayertrust/. The reboots and install file were the same as previous attempts.
Today, I have no more popups.
One thing I did notice is that Shockwave Active X Control 11.6.1 never uninstalled. It was still present after uninstalling flash and rebooting. Is Shockwave still used?

    Hi Don,
I love Beyond Compare, been using it for years!
I wonder if those cfg files were to blame, you don't happen to still have them in your trash do you?  If so, would you mind sending them to me at [email protected]?
As for Shockwave, I haven't used it in a long time, but I'm sure there's content out there somewhere for it.

  • Is Flash Player available for IE9 yet?

Hello, I have FP 10.2 installed on Chrome and IE8 and FP 11 installed on Firefox. My OS is Windows 7 64 bits. I want to update IE but I'm not sure if Flash Player is ready or not. Is it?

Hi, yes it is. Several users have had IE9 for some time and use the Flash Player 10.2.152.32. You might like to see this from Microsoft since you have Win7. Some new features, especially the ActiveX Filtering. You may already be aware of it, but this link has the info on IE9.

FP direct download/Install (uncheck McAfee/Google Toolbar if not wanted, 2 places?) http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
It is recommended to uninstall all previous versions (download uninstaller). All browser windows must be closed when the uninstaller runs. Also disable any instant messenger service in the system tray. Norton and McAfee AV may need to be disabled also.
Make sure to uncheck any unwanted software offers during the installation.

  • No Video with IE9 Flash Player 'Square'

I recently purchased a new Acer notebook computer for my business travel in late March 2011. The machine is running Windows 7 64bit OS and had IE8 64bit installed. I installed IE9 upon receipt of an update notice from Microsoft and downloaded Adobe Flash Player 'Square'. I am unable to view any internet video on news websites (ie: CNN, Fox, MSNBC, etc). The screen is completely blank, but does contain the audio. I do receive video for any 'You Tube' file I have attempted. I have removed and reinstalled both IE9 and Flash 'Square' multiple times after attempting various 'fix' I have found on line, but the problem persists and I cannot view video content. This is forcing me to use 'Chrome' when using this machine. Can you help me? Thanks.

No big fan of Chrome, so I can relate to your dismay. But, I'm even less of a fan of IE (any version). The fact that YouTube videos will play but not the news sites tells me the Flash Player is working (otherwise you'd have no videos anywhere). The problem is in IE somewhere. I just got IE9 a week ago, so I haven't gotten into "debugging" it yet, but I have no trouble with videos using Firefox, and it's a better browser than Chrome or IE in my opinion.

  • IE9 RC and Latest Flash Player don't work

IE9 Release Candidate was pushed to tens of thousands of users yesterday and now the latest version of flash player does not work in it. I have one PC on Windows 7 64 bit and another on Windows 7 32 bit... same problem. Sites that use flash to display video are dead... including YouTube. They all say 'You need to upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to watch this video. ' which, of course, does not fix the problem. Another site uses flash for audio and it's DOA also. This is a huge deal because it is finally a browser from MS that is focused on standards compliance and it is very near completion. Any ideas when this will be addressed?

Hi, Take a look at your addons. Go to Tools, Manage addons and under "Show"(very light text) look in All addons. Find Shockwave Flash Object and make sure it's Enabled.
Sometimes updating a browser version may Disable this.
    Let me know.
    Thanks,

By the way, I have another desktop computer in my home, which has the same OS, IE and flash player. It works fine.

In case of google chrome, there is no problem in my nootbook. Both of notebook and desktop are using Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security as an anti-virus software.
By the way, I found that the internet explorer of my notebook could not load SWF files, which means I cannot see SWF files via internet explorer in my notebook.  Do you think this may be related to the current problem in my notebook. If yes, is there any way to load SWF files in the internet explorer in my notebook?

  • Flash Player not working in IE8 or IE9

Had been using IE9 and all of a sudden had problems on all sites with Flash.  Went to a website and was prompted to "Click to install activex control: Adobe Flash Player". When I click to install, I get the error message that the "Flash Player I am trying to install is not the latest version. Please visit the download center to get the latest version."  I do that, go to install 10.3.183.10, download, run, etc. Then I get a message saying "Newer version already installed". If I look under my installed program, that IS the version that is installed.  I uninstalled it, and then re-installed it for Firefox.  That at least works somewhat, but I've had a lot of problems with FF lately with screen freezing, not responding, etc., and I have the same problems since uninstalling & reinstalling (not saying it's a Flash Player related problem, could be something different) which is why I've been using IE.
I read about someone having a problem with IE9 and uninstalling and going back to IE8, so I did that, and here I am still having the same probem in IE8.

UGH! I can't take this.  I'm the OP and STIL having the same problems.  For a while it was ok. I went back to IE8 (instead of latest version 9), and Flash version 10, and that seemed to solve the problem.  Then i started having more and more problems on sites with flash, and then finally I could no longer play my FB game (Cityville) b/c I would get the "you need to update to the latest version of Flash".  So..... I updated to Version 11, and now it crashes ALL the time and can't even go on Youtube b/c it says I need the latest version of Flash!  I HAVE THE LATEST VERSION OF FLASH!!  In other words....back to my original problem from a few months ago.   I don't know what else to do at this point.  At the moment, everything seems to be working ok in Firefox.......... but why can't I get it to work in IE?  FTR, every time I upgraded to IE9, Flash wouldn't work at all which is why I ended up just going back to IE8.  Has there been any headway made on the Flash/IE issues or do I now have to go back to using Firefox all the time? (ironic b/c when this all first started I had been using FF for years, and had to go back to IE due to the flash problems with FF).
ETA:  I just upgraded to IE9 and now when I go to flash sites, it lets them load but everything flashes all crazily (same as happened months ago).  *insert head banging smiley*

Try to disable the hardware acceleration in the Flash Player.
    See:
    * https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Cannot+view+full+screen+Flash+videos
    * http://www.youtube.com/swf_test.html (right-click the player: Settings)
    Flash "Display settings" window:
    * http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Adobe Flash Player Installed.  Doesn't appear to be recognized by IE9.  Incorrect Browser Showing?

    Good evening all,
This Flash Player issue is giving me fits, so I'm hoping one of you might have experienced this before. Websites visited on this tablet do not recognize Adobe Flash Player. I have installed Adobe Flash Player ver 11.5.502.135 for Internet Explorer. When I go to the following link, http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html I get the following information:
"Flash player is running on your system." The lil' ball is running back and forth.
    Flash player version: 11.5.502.135
    OS: Windows 7 (32-bit)
    Browser: Opera
Well, I'm using Internet Explorer 9. What gives? I've attempted to uninstall and reinstall of Flash player. No luck. ActiveX Filtering is off. Shockwave Flash Object add-on is Enabled. I've ran some updated antivirus and found a bunch of signatures, but I removed right away. (Malwarebytes, Spybot S&D)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  I’m about ready to nuke the hard drive and start over.
    Thank you in advance.

    Good Afternoon Sunil,
Thank you for the reply.  Sorry if I wasn't clear on my earlier post.  That is correct, the page was incorrectly detecting the browser as Opera. I was using IE9.  It was very strange.
I corrected it performing a Windows System restore from the previous month.
    Take care.

  • How do I get Flash Player and IE9 to "play nice"?

I need help trying to figure out why I have difficulty loading various sites, because I get certificate error messages, IE9 then crashes, and of course windows tries to look for a solution, to no avail!? I recently installed Adobe Flash Player after the message popped up trying to play a game via my browser...IE9.
Please know that I am not a programmer, and have limited knowledge regarding java-script, cross-scripting and security certificates. These are all messages and or error messages that have "popped-up" since I installed Flash Player.
I just want my computer to work the way it did before the instal!!! No hangs, freezes, crashes, etc.... Please someone help!
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to "hold my hand" through the fix!

  • Flash player 11 - blank space instead of the content

    Hello,
Adobe Flash Player 11 is not working for me !
Here's some information about my laptop: HP G60 AMD Sempron 2.00 GHz Memory (RAM) 3,00 GB 32-bit operating system WINDOWS VISTA
My current browser: Mozilla Firefox 5, but pretty much the same thing happens with IE.
Adobe Flash Player 10 seems to be working for me, only there are some websites that require to update my version to view their content. When I do so (it says my installation is successful), I can't access flash content at all (instead I see blank space), nor can I see the picture that's saying which flash version I run (instead - blank space).
Can you please help me with this issue ? Thanks !

Did you mean Firefox 15 or 5?  15.01 is the latest release version.
When you install 11.4 (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer) what do you see when you visit this page: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html
If you just get white space, check Firefox's Add-ons page and click the Plugins tab.  Do you see a listing for Shockwave Flash?  If so, is it disabled or enabled?  What version is reported?
    Thanks,
    Chris
