Flash player causes repeated pop-ups impeding my computer use.

I am frustrated with using flash player and its frequent upgrades which cause 3-4 pop-ups each time I click on a link. I would think you could engineer a more user friendly environment for a tool that many applications require. What's your excuse or suggestion?

What kind of pop-ups?  I never get any pop-ups when using Flash Player.

    Adobe Please help!!
I am getting pop-ups of 'you don't have the latest flashplayer'
I go to Adobe website and download and now all I am getting this "Media Downloader 12.2" It's slowing my machine down and I am getting a slough of pop-ups!
I removed the installation...and now I have no access to any websites that require flash.
I do I download the proper update installation and this "Media Downloader 12.2 pop-up" from piggy backing on this.
THIS IS A HUGE INCONVENIENCE...PLEASE HELP!!

    Hello,
'Media Downloader 12.2' is not a product that is bundled with the Flash Player installer.  It's possible that you clicked on a malicious pop-up and were redirected to some other site.  We are aware of folks doing this and follow-up on issues when we hear about them. Some of these malicious pop-ups and sites go to great lengths to look just like official Adobe notifications and installer dialogs.  What is the website you went to to download the Flash Player? I will forward the site to the appropriate folks to follow-up on. If you're able to reproduce the pop-up dialog window, please take a screenshot and post it here.
In the mean time, you can download Flash Player directly from one of the following locations:
Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows
Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac
At the bottom of the page, in the 'Still having problems' section there will be links to download the various plugin types based on your browser.

  • Flash player causes real problems on Youtube

Flash player causes real problems on Youtube site.
I don't really know if it's a Flash Player problem or a Youtube one but Youtube used to work fine back in like 3-4 months ago, now it doesn't anymore.
The issues I encounter with Flash player on Youtube are as follows:
First issue is the fact that after the video completely loads or it loads a big part of it then I click on the seek bar to jump at a specific time that has been already downloaded by the Flash player the video starts loading again from that point on like it didn't actually downloaded that part before. This issue causes big bandwith use since it downloads many many times the same portions of the clip that it has already loaded before dozens of time. If I play a 3 min music clip and click replay or point on the seek bar at the begining of the clip to play it again it loads/downloads the clip again and again and again. If the video clip has over 1 hour then I click play it might entirely load into the player in a few minutes then I click on the seek bar to skip at a certain point it starts loading again from that point on. This is the most anoying thing I encounter with Youtube lately.
Second issue is the fact that if I click on the seek bar of the player to skip to a specific time most of the time the playback does not start from that point on but it skips back to the last point where it was so I must click several times or keep the mouse button pressed for a long time on the same point in order to play from that place on. This one is again very anoying.
Third issue is that after the video starts playing in 360p it automatically changes to 720p after a minute or so even if I had checked this setting "I have a slow connection. Never play higher-quality video" in Youtube Playback Settings. I cleared the cookies and chosed several times the same "I have a slow connection. Never play higher-quality video" setting in Youtube Playback Settings but it just doesn't keep the settings on. This one is again very anoying since my computer can't handle well 720p.
I have reinstalled Win XP SP3 and even installed Win 7 SP1 tried several versions of Flash Player and several versions of Firefox, Chrome and Opera but the same issues occur everytime.
I haven't encounter any of these issues before like 3-4 months ago.

I have had problems trying to watch videos on youtube for the past couple of years. It's been almost unbearable, even if I set the resolution to 144kb! Then a few days ago, I went to youtube and couldn't watch at all. There was an error showing that my Flashplayer was out of date, and then a link to Firefox to get the right update. I did that two times to no avail. I had just installed the newest version of Flash Player as of November 2014, yet this error kept popping up. Finally, out of utter frustration, I did like you did, and uninstalled everything related to Adobe Flash. Then I went to youtube, just to see how bad the result would be, and suddenly videos started playing smoother, at higher resolution, and with faster buffering to start out.  Sure, there are some videos that I can't play, and the newest iTunes seemed to have issues without having Flash, but videos aren't frustrating me like they had been on youtube.
So, yeah, I know what you're saying. I had the same solution work for me. Cheers.

  • Flash Player Causing Entire PC To Lock Up!

Recently i updated my flash player to the latest version supplied by adobe on their official website.
And since then ive started to encounter a serious and annoying problem, which is whenever i open a site which uses adobe flash player, after a few seconds, the entire computer becomes completeley unresponsive, And does not become responsive again even when left half an hour.
I have uninstalled it, cleaned registry, restarted, reinstalled (with proper prcedures, ie: restarting when necessary etc.) multiple times.
I have deleted everything to do with Adobe on my pc, even searched through my C: drive and got rid of tiny and hard to find things LOL.
I have read through the forums, but all i could see was other reports of it freezing peoples browsers?
Why is it causing my entire pc to lock up whenever i use a site that requires flash player!
Im sick of having to hold down the power button on my pc to EMERGENCY shutdown and having to wait to turn it back on and go through the whole "your pc shut down incorrectly nonsense".
Im running Windows Vista Ultimate (64Bit), and ive even read up on the fact that flash player doesnt work in 64 bit browsers, but my IE and FF are both 32 bit, and ran perfectly before this latest update. So i know for a fact it isnt a browser problem.
    Please help!
    Thanks in advance.

What IE and FF versions are you using?
Have you tried the usual remedies, like
disable hardware acceleration (Flash Player Settings)?
update the device drivers for your graphics/video/display adapter?

The "Install Flash Player.app keeps popping up on my desktop even after ejecting it - I'm running MacOS 10.9 and a registered user of Creative Cloud. The install app is an older version and won't install because I'm already running a newer version. How do I get rid of this installer?

  • Adobe Flash Player 10 when installed closes the whole computer as soon as it is selected to 'play' a video clip from U Tube or any other source, I have uninstalled it and the problem goes away but I cannot play the clip.any answers?

Adobe Flash Player 10, when installed, closes the whole computer when it is used to play any clip from U Tube or other source. I uninstalled it and there was no further trouble but, of course, I cannot view the clip. If I reinstall it the same problem persists. I have contacted my 'computer guru' but his comment is that many of his clients have the same problem but it appears to be a problem with Adobe however many other friends have put in the version 10 Flash Player and have no problems. I do not appear to have any other problems with the computer such as viruses etc and it is scanned very day for such items. I would appreciate any advice you can give as it is very annoying, thanks, RAB

    Me too!
On both IE8 and Firefox. Win 7 32 bit on IBM T42 - 1GB ram.
Old laptop I know but the 10.1.x.x Flash Players worked just fine. Problem started with 10.2.152.26 flash player.
Now BBC TV live and iPlayer work just fine, however YouTube does not - audio but no video. Just a black rectangle where the video should be.
Right click to get the menu and "settings" is greyed out. However select the pop-out option and the video plays. Right click on the pop-out and "settings" is available. So deselect "enable hardware acceleration", close the pop-out and refresh the window (F5) and now YouTube videos play. Switch hardware acceleration back on and now they don't.
This video works fine with hardware acceleration enabled. http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/features/video/h264/
    These also work. http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/stagevideo.html
Something broken in 10.2, I think.

  • How do i get ads and pop ups off my computer?

    Mac Book Pro
Processor 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Version 10.0.1
How do I get ads and pop ups off my computer?

Your question is one that tends to bring out the worst of all the bad advice that infests this site. There is, in fact, no need to download anything to solve the problem.
You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • After the upgrade to 3.6, my flash player crashes while I'm trying to play Farmville. I have tried updating the flash player. I have tried restarting the computer. Nothing is working.

Last night, my system was still using Firefox 3.5.8. I was playing Farmville on Facebook and everything was working fine. This morning, I log onto my computer and find that I am upgraded to Firefox 3.6. I have been trying to play Farmville all morning, and the Adobe Flash Player keeps crashing. I have tried to update the Flash Player. I have tried restarting the computer. Nothing is working.

To anyone experiencing this problem after trying the steps I posted above, try this potential solution:
    # Open Tools->Add-Ons->Plugins, find Shockwave Flash, and press Disable
    # Hold down the '''Windows logo key''' and press '''R''' to bring up the ''Run'' dialog.
    # Type '''%APPDATA%''' and press OK.
    # Open the Adobe folder
    # Right click on the Flash Player folder and press '''Rename'''. Type in ''Old Flash Player'' as the new name.
    # Go back to the Application Data or AppData folder. (On Windows XP, click '''Up''' in the toolbar. On Windows 7 or Vista, click AppData in the address bar)
    # Open the Macromedia folder and repeat step #5
    # Go back to the add-ons window from step #1, and press Enable on Shockwave Flash
    # Try Farmville, Youtube, and other affected sites to see if the problem is fixed.

Mozilla is currently developing an open standards-based Flash renderer called Shumway.
    https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Projects/Shumway
Available as an extension [http://mozilla.github.io/shumway/extension/firefox/shumway.xpi here]. ''< click to launch the add-on installer.''
''It seems to work fine on YouTube videos in the Firefox 31 release version, although it is somewhat CPU intensive.''
And also available in the Nightly development versions.
    http://nightly.mozilla.org/
Feel free to try it out, but make sure you install it into its' own Program Files folderset and make sure you create a unique Profile for use only with Nightly. If the same Profile is used with both Release and pre-release versions problems sometimes arise after switching back and forth between different versions of Firefox. Basically, Nightly is like 18 weeks ''(at a minimum)'' removed from becoming a release version, but some projects stay on Nightly for a longer time as they are being developed. That happens to provide as many user / testers as possible, by not resorting to a separate development trunk version.

  • Can't get adobe flash player to regester once I have downloaded it using window xp

I can't get my adobe flash player to run once downloading it.

I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS WORKED. WOW!!! This past weekend I have spent more hours than I care to remember to get Flash Player 13 installed on my Windows XP computer. I am computer savay...but this was a total enigma for me. I followed the Adobe trouble shooting page and tried everything to a T. No good! I even tried a posting on the MS Community where I downloaded an Adobe uninstall program, then rebooted my computer, then downloaded a "SubInAcl" program to a folder and then downloaded a "reset_fp10.zip" file to the the same folder...clicked on this .bat file and ran the SubInAcl file...then tried to download Flash Player at the Adobe website...and got the same error message..."Failed to Install." This was a half hour ago...after trying last Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday...and today. Then it dawned on me as a last resort to try this Adobe Forum. It is beyond me why on the Adobe Troubleshooting installation web page that there was no mention of this simple solution...or I did not see it.  I have spent hours searching the Internet and found no such solution as yours...running the "Flash Player 13 MSI Installer."  I can't thank you enough after hours and hours and hours of trying to fix this problem...lo and behold...YOUR RECOMMENDATION WAS THE FIX. Thank you so much. I am most appreciative.

  • Why do i have to re-install Flash player each time I shut off my computer?

Anytime I want to watch a video on the internet it says I must install a flash player so I go on line and download Adobe Flash player. But once I shut my computer down the flash player goes away.

Try a clean install as described in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315

flash player on the new mac sarafi can't use keyboard and event listener

Now after 5 weeks, you have always not resolved this very important and urgent issue. It seems that Adobe has realy abandonned the actionscript / flash player projects. Why not simply discontinue flash player on desktops too ? Or even better remove or block "automaticaly" all flash players with the final update. That could create a serious issue on the Internet for few weeks but at least that will be honorable end like a Samurai's Seppuku...

  • Adobe Flash Player 10 - repeated installations

I have Win 7 (Starter) on a new Acer Aspire One 532. My main (and only) login id is for me which also has admin. privileges.
However I have to repeatedly install Flash Player 10 in order to view clips on YouTube, BBC and my own web site.
Once installed - via the Adobe Download Manager - all clips play OK. If I close the lid and the netbook hibernates, and then when I open it up again, all is well.
However if there is a Windows update, or if I do a restart / reboot, Flash Player gets 'uninstalled,' or maybe Win 7 just 'forgets' that it has been installed. Then I have to go through the whole download process to re-reinstall it until the next time.
Actually this is only for IE8.
I have tried downloading other versions for Opera, Safari, Chrome and Foxfire - and the installation(s) remain permanent.
Flash Player is the only application that exhibits this behaviour. But I do use it a lot. All other apps. once installed seem to remain available for use without fail.
So why is Flash Player with IE8 such a problem, and what can I do to 'fix' its installation once and for all?
    Thank you - Chris Brady.
P.S. I have uninstalled McAfee because it was causing lots of problems. I now use MS Security Essentials.

Thank you very much for your help and support.
I only have one user id on the netbook - me with full Admin. privs.
The OS is 32-bit Win 7 (Starter).
So quite awhile ago I removed McAfee using the special removal app. Its all went. Then after removing McAfee I also ran the special rereg.cmd file from MS which re-registers the IE8 dlls that McAfee screwed up.
I now use MS Security Essentials.
Also I've again checked IE8 and Shockplayer is indeed Enabled and the version is correct.
When installed FP 10 works fine. But when I have to reboot / restart it seems to get uninstalled from IE8. Then both my own web site, and YouTube and the BBC etc. all complain that its missing. (I can't install an earlier version, e.g. 9, 'cos then they also complain that its not the latest).
But Flash Player 10 for Chrome, Foxfire, Opera, and Safari - all work OK. They have remained installed for quite a while, and they're always there and work as expected.
I think that this is actually an IE8 issue, but MS on the Answers Forum(s) have not replied. And searching the web I can't find any other similar instances.
Acer Customer Support suggested a full diskless re-install of Win 7 etc. at a cost of £75 (for the CD) - then flagged my post as 'solved.' Then they suggested installing IE9 - until I pointed out that this was likely still in beta (if at all). Again they flagged this as a solution.
However I did do a Factory Reinstall - that is I restored the OS from a special partition on the hard-drive that took everything back to an out-of-box situation - at least I think I did. Acer have a System Recovery / Restore feature which seemed to take everything back to start. (I saved all my data files on a flash drive before hand!!).
Then I reinstalled Flash Player 10 - yet again. But none of the above problem.
    Chris Brady
P.S. I'm also having problems with Media Player 12 - it gives a 'Server Execution Failure' every time I try and play a file with it.
