Flash Player Causing Entire PC To Lock Up!

Recently i updated my flash player to the latest version supplied by adobe on their official website.
And since then ive started to encounter a serious and annoying problem, which is whenever i open a site which uses adobe flash player, after a few seconds, the entire computer becomes completeley unresponsive, And does not become responsive again even when left half an hour.
I have uninstalled it, cleaned registry, restarted, reinstalled (with proper prcedures, ie: restarting when necessary etc.) multiple times.
I have deleted everything to do with Adobe on my pc, even searched through my C: drive and got rid of tiny and hard to find things LOL.
I have read through the forums, but all i could see was other reports of it freezing peoples browsers?
Why is it causing my entire pc to lock up whenever i use a site that requires flash player!
Im sick of having to hold down the power button on my pc to EMERGENCY shutdown and having to wait to turn it back on and go through the whole "your pc shut down incorrectly nonsense".
Im running Windows Vista Ultimate (64Bit), and ive even read up on the fact that flash player doesnt work in 64 bit browsers, but my IE and FF are both 32 bit, and ran perfectly before this latest update. So i know for a fact it isnt a browser problem.
Please help!
Thanks in advance.

What IE and FF versions are you using?
Have you tried the usual remedies, like
disable hardware acceleration (Flash Player Settings)?
update the device drivers for your graphics/video/display adapter?

  • Flash player causes entire system crash with black screen

When watching a video on youtube, streaming on twitch or other things my entire system will crash with the following symptoms:
    -Black Screen
    -Intermittent stuttering sound
-Only fixable by a hard reboot (holding the power button). The reset button will NOT work. Video will NOT return, it will continue to loop this way until a hard reset.
    Your Flash Version
    11.9.900
    Your browser name
    Firefox
    Your Operating System (OS)
    Windows (Windows 7)
That information taken directly from Adobe's site. Using 64-bit, 8GB of RAM installed. ATI Radeon HD 6850 card. I have done a fresh Win 7 install a couple months ago and JUST NOW put flash back on here...now it's crashing. While times vary before the crash, I just watched a youtube video for less than 5 seconds before it happened.
Upon reboot, I get the "Windows was not shut down properly" message. No "Your system has recovered..." message, however. I've seen very few posts about this and none of the solutions help but this is REALLY pissing me off now. It happened to me before and the only fix was a fresh system install. I'm not doing that again.

    Hi Mike,
I appreciate the reply. I can run the system for days, literally, doing other tasks such as music through iTunes, gaming through Steam, voice chatting on Ventrilo. The only time I will ever experience this issue will be the five minutes I watch a youtube video or watch a stream on Twitch..
My primary HD is a relatively new Intel SSD. I do have multiple other drives but they're used for storage of media (include aforementioned music).
I have been a youtuber and streamer for a while, and i'd like to try and record the phenominon, but i'll have to do so using an external camera since i'm not sure I can stop and save the recorded data. I'll have to do so I guess so I can give a better idea of the issue occuring.
    Thanks again.

  • Flash player causes real problems on Youtube

Flash player causes real problems on Youtube site.
I don't really know if it's a Flash Player problem or a Youtube one but Youtube used to work fine back in like 3-4 months ago, now it doesn't anymore.
The issues I encounter with Flash player on Youtube are as follows:
First issue is the fact that after the video completely loads or it loads a big part of it then I click on the seek bar to jump at a specific time that has been already downloaded by the Flash player the video starts loading again from that point on like it didn't actually downloaded that part before. This issue causes big bandwith use since it downloads many many times the same portions of the clip that it has already loaded before dozens of time. If I play a 3 min music clip and click replay or point on the seek bar at the begining of the clip to play it again it loads/downloads the clip again and again and again. If the video clip has over 1 hour then I click play it might entirely load into the player in a few minutes then I click on the seek bar to skip at a certain point it starts loading again from that point on. This is the most anoying thing I encounter with Youtube lately.
Second issue is the fact that if I click on the seek bar of the player to skip to a specific time most of the time the playback does not start from that point on but it skips back to the last point where it was so I must click several times or keep the mouse button pressed for a long time on the same point in order to play from that place on. This one is again very anoying.
Third issue is that after the video starts playing in 360p it automatically changes to 720p after a minute or so even if I had checked this setting "I have a slow connection. Never play higher-quality video" in Youtube Playback Settings. I cleared the cookies and chosed several times the same "I have a slow connection. Never play higher-quality video" setting in Youtube Playback Settings but it just doesn't keep the settings on. This one is again very anoying since my computer can't handle well 720p.
I have reinstalled Win XP SP3 and even installed Win 7 SP1 tried several versions of Flash Player and several versions of Firefox, Chrome and Opera but the same issues occur everytime.
I haven't encounter any of these issues before like 3-4 months ago.

I have had problems trying to watch videos on youtube for the past couple of years. It's been almost unbearable, even if I set the resolution to 144kb! Then a few days ago, I went to youtube and couldn't watch at all. There was an error showing that my Flashplayer was out of date, and then a link to Firefox to get the right update. I did that two times to no avail. I had just installed the newest version of Flash Player as of November 2014, yet this error kept popping up. Finally, out of utter frustration, I did like you did, and uninstalled everything related to Adobe Flash. Then I went to youtube, just to see how bad the result would be, and suddenly videos started playing smoother, at higher resolution, and with faster buffering to start out.  Sure, there are some videos that I can't play, and the newest iTunes seemed to have issues without having Flash, but videos aren't frustrating me like they had been on youtube.
So, yeah, I know what you're saying. I had the same solution work for me. Cheers.

I have the same issue, suddenly all my browsers crash if Flash Player is embeded in the site. The issue started before I updated to 10.6.4 and the updating did not fix it. I'm a Flash developer, so I tried a lot of things to fix the issue like:
    - reinstalling Firefox
    - installing Chrome
    - reinstalling Flash 10.1 ( uninstall/install)
    - uninstall Firefox/Flash, Repair Permissions, install Firefox/Flash 10.1, Repair Permissions, run Firefox, still crashes

  • Flash Player causes Graphic card to crash then recover successfully on two identical systems.

    Hello,
Ever since the latest update with Adobe Flash Player, I've been having problems with flash in general on my computer. My brother has the same exact computer and he also has this issue. I can uninstall Flash Player and the problem stops completely and the moment I install it again, the problem persists. I've looked just about everywhere and figured I'd post it on here for a solution.
    The problem:
The graphic card crashes and then recovers successfully when using Flash Player in general (happens most of the time when listening to a playlist on youtube and when the webpage is loading/changing to the next song). It also causes blue squares to appear on my monitor in random places. Flash videos become disturted and appear as blocks of fuzzy colors representing what they should really be when in full screen watching the video.
Troubleshot to conclude it was Flash Player:
I did extensive research and troubleshooting on my end, the problem started when I updated flash player with the auto-updater. I bench-marked my computer with running multiple programs and games to the maximum effort my computer could handle without flash installed (needless to say, no problem occurred). I then installed flash according to specs and ran a youtube playlist alone on Internet Explorer, the problem did occur. I then tried it with FireFox and Google Chrome, the same problem occurred.
I had my brother reformat his computer and install everything according to spec (all of his drivers are up to date as well) and the problem persisted with his end so I haven't done that, since it'd be to no avail.
I have even uninstalled Flash Player using the uninstaller executable that's supposed to remove everything from Flash Player and tried to install the version that worked prior to the update and it's as if something from Flash isn't being removed because the problem happens with the old version too as well.
Our computer specs are as follows:
    Manufacturer: CyberPower, Inc.
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
    Memory(RAM): 3.00GB
    System Type: 64-bit Operating System
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2
Graphic Card: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series (Actual card is ATI Radeon 4850)
If I should post something else, let me know and I will. This problem is kind of annoying to be honest so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time and assistance.

    Hello,
Sadly this does not fix the problem on either computer. The video still comes in distorted while watching videos and the graphic card still crashes on song change while listening to a youtube playlist. The drivers are updated on both computers. As stated, this started happening when auto-updating to the latest version of Adobe Flash Player from the system tray icon. I can't even un-install flash and revert back to the version that worked before this update since it's as if something from Flash Player doesn't get uninstalled when using the uninstaller because the problem happens on all versions of Adobe Flash Player that I've tried. Thanks for your time and assistance.

  • Flash player causing blue screen upon loading video

    Hello,
I have recently bought a new system. Everything runs  perfectly except for one critical problem; I can't view flash videos or  anything played in a web browser by flash player.
Animated flash  advertisements will load to the first couple of frames, I will hear a  bit of noise and then a brief 1-2 second system hang and straight in to a  bluescreen. Same goes for youtube etc, might see a frame, if that, a  brief noise and hang/bluescreen. This has occurred since I have  purchased the PC.
I have attempted to fix the problem by updating  my graphics drivers to the latest, updating flash player to the latest,  updating sound drivers to the latest.
    System:
    AMD i5 750
    ATI  Radeon 5870
    Realtek audio
    Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
    Mozilla Firefox 3.6.6 -------------> Flash player 10.1
I am just viewing the bluescreen  dump file, there is no bug check string, however it seems to indicate an  AMD/graphics driver causing the conflict.

it started before last summer, it doesn't happen often but lets just say its making me rather nervous to use youtube and other sites that use flash now.
i've read allot of people have this problem and have traced it to using flash. i hope somebody at adobe is listening and not trying to blame hardware makers or drivers about this problem.
i disabled hardware acceleration, i hope this does the trick until a real fix can be found
btw if any flash animation gives a BSOD how else could we turn it off ? Think about it for a second people

  • How to fix Flash Player buffering entire video before playing?

I am using the most up to date version of flash (16.0.0.305), windows 7, and the problem persists across all browser (IE, firefox, chrome). Today all flash videos are buffering the entire video before playing and i can't seem to figure out how to fix it. I've gone through the entire troubleshooting from Video playback issues (i.e. clearing caches, re installing chrome, re-installing flash, etc.) and nothing seems to change it. Youtube and other premium streaming services (ex. netflix) work fine which suggests the streaming problem is specific to flash. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried uninstall and re install both Flash Player and Chrome it self but nothing changed.
I also noticed that when i try to download something on chrome (this is the browser i use for everything), for example a movie trailer from Apple's trailer site (for example this movie trailer iTunes Movie Trailers) i right click and press Save As, it does nothing after that and after let's say some seconds the window pops up asking me where to save it, and i save it. That means that when i press "Save As" it does starts downloading in the background (like the first post in this thread states) and only wneh it finishes downloading the Chrome pop up window appear. When it should pop immediatelly asking me where to save it the moment i right click something and press Save As. At least that what i used to do before THIS whole problem started......
    Any thoughts...??????
    Please i am desperate......

Good work jc! You are a good student:-) All Java add ons in IE are correct and FF also. Nice.
Now that we have all of that out of the way, we can Uninstall and Install FP
This is the Uninstaller that you will download and SAVE to your Desktop:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
This is the Installer FOR INTERNET EXPLORER, download and SAVE to your Desktop:
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe
This is the Installer FOR FIREFOX, download and SAVE to your Desktop:
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
After those are on your Desktop, you will do the following:
    Close ALL browsers
    Disconnect from the Internet
Disable All Anti-Virus/Spyware and any Firewall other than Windows Firewall Also check to make sure no applications that use Flash are running, check the system tray.
RUN the Uninstaller Once. Then Reboot and RUN the Uninstaller again(to make sure old files are removed)
Then RUN the Installer for IE and Reboot ONCE
Then RUN the Installer for FF and Reboot ONCE
    Re-enable your Anti-Virus/Spyware and Firewall
    Re-Connect back to the Internet.
Then using IE first, go to the test site:http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about
Then using FF do the same test.
Then post back the results or if there were any problems and/or any messages.
    Thanks,

  • Flash Player Causing Hang With Most sites

    Hi,
I've been having problems with my flash player plugin and I feel like I've tried everything to fix it. Most sites that require the flash plugin for videos etc. cause firefox to hang. I know that flash is creating the problem because I can browse the web just fine if i disable to plugin. Any help  on the subject would be immensly appreciated.

Hi Paul, thanks for the information. Since you are using the Mac, the best information that I can give you is all on this
    thread: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/619969?tstart=0
I hope it will be helpful to you. The only thing I would say is that the Uninstaller for a beta is here:

  • Flash player causes repeated pop-ups impeding my computer use.

I am frustrated with using flash player and its frequent upgrades which cause 3-4 pop-ups each time I click on a link. I would think you could engineer a more user friendly environment for a tool that many applications require. What's your excuse or suggestion?

What kind of pop-ups?  I never get any pop-ups when using Flash Player.

  • Flash player causes IE7 to crash

I use Win XP Home with SP2 and IE7, on a 2 week old PC (so
    both were OEM loaded).
I have installed Flash Player in order to get a decent
    experience from websites.
On one site - and one site only - anything from 15 to 120
seconds after the home page has loaded, I get a message that "IE
has encountered a problem and needs to close". By sending an error
report to M/Soft and then getting the message box with a 'More
Information' option, every time this says that it is Flash Player
    that has caused the crash.
I am directed to the Macromedia/Adobe site to update Falsh -
but I already have the latest verison installed. My version in the
    Windows/System32/Macromedia/Flash directory is Flash9e.ocx.
Based on tips seen elsewhere, I have even added a copy of
this in the same directory and renamed it as Flash.ocx.
Further more, I have uninstalled (using the Adobe/Macromedia
special uninstaller) and then re-installed (every time downloading
a new copy of Flash from Adobe and/or Macromedia) at least 6 times
in the last 10 days, each installation being clean, with no
programmes running and no anti-virus or anti-spyware software
    running at all.
This is driving me absoutely potty, as no-one can offer any
help - not Adobe e-mail Technical Support, not MIcrosoft, not the
PC supplier, not the wesbite where the problem is, no-one.
Yet it is a real problem but no-one is prepared to take
    ownership of it.
Has anyone in the communities got any ideas as to how to
    solve this?
    Many thanks
    bolehill
PS: Neither Flash nor IE7 were upgrade installations - they
    were installed as new.

Well, it looks like I have fixed the problem too, but not
quite in the same way as you did - although what you suggested led
    me there eventually.
Having read your message, I downloaded the Device Cleaner
software and then read the ReadMe file that came with it. I don't
have either NTI or nvidia drivers for my graphics card, but I have
    an Intel Express Chipset.
So on reading the file, I just wondered if my Display Adapter
driver needing updating, so I went via My Computer; Mange; Device
Manager; expanded the Display Adapter and right clicked the
resulting driver. From this menu, I went to Properties and then the
Driver tab of this. I then selected Update Driver and let Windows
do its stuff, allowing it to search for an updated driver. Hey
presto, it found one somewhere on the system (it definitley did not
go to the Internet), and, having rebooted after the driver update
(as required by the system), I can now access the website that
caused the problems without IE7 closing straight away.
So it appears that the iesue is around a conflict between the
main dispaly adapter drivers and Flash and the way round this is to
make sure that the display adapter driver is 110% up-to-date (and
in your case, also that there is no trace left of the old driver).
    Maybe this will help others....?
    Cheers

Thanks, bolehill. My friend was having the same problem and
pointed her to this thread. Says I was a miracle worker but told
her I was just a good researcher. You did all the job. Thanks.

  • Question: Can Flash Player Cause BSoDs?

Hi, I'm new to the forum and actually signed up mostly to ask this question.
I've had my laptop for over 18 months (19 now actually), and over the course of using it I may have had one - maybe 3 BSoD's max, but in the past 3-4 days, I've had 10 at least. Things I've noticed:
-The number of BSoD's increased after I got both Microsoft Security Essentials AND McAfee, which is a possible cause.
-I doubt it's a browser issue, because although the issue initially started in Chrome (not my default browser but the main one I've been using nevertheless), I've also had this experience in Firefox and IE10.
-Blue Screens can happen at anytime but almost always happen after 7 pm, hasn't happened before then in a while (including in the past few days).
-The BSoD doesn't happen by me just being on the computer, the computer idling, or me being on the internet; the minute I open applications/pages that require Adobe Flash Player (i.e. Pinger Textfree) I will get a blue screen within 3-5 minutes tops. After I reboot the system, I don't get another one until I reopen the application.
-Error when I reboot: Worker Thread Bad at IRQL. I've been doing research on this error and it could be having MSE and McAfee like I mentioned earlier, but I would prefer to first confirm that it more than likely isn't Flash Player since there's evidence to suggest it is.
-My system is Windows 7 Premium, 64 bit, 8 GB Ram, 640 GB Hard Drive, 2.4 GHz i5 intel processor. Something to note; I noticed that prior to today, the Flash Player I had installed was a 32 bit version. I've since been trying to see if I can install the 64 bit version.
Also, sorry I have not posted the Minidump files or any other reference files, just posted the scenario, I suppose to see if I'm the only one with this issue and/or if I should eliminate this possibility as the cause of my blue screens.
    Thank you!
EDIT: I've also been scanning for viruses, and have found none.

  • Flash Player Causing high CPU usage NT Kernel

    Hi
I have windows 7 with Firefox 26 and noticed that the NT Kernel and system process is running my cpu at 50% - I have a dual core.
After some research and testing I have realised that it is flash causing it when a site opens like Ebay for exapmple.
If I deactivate the plugin all is fine - cpu at about 7 - 20%.  Ebay etc will ask to activate the plugin and the CPU jumps.
Same thing with other flash sites. Facebook etc
No issues with the other browsers - Chrome and IE.
I have tried uninstalling flash and firefox - and then doing a clean install but not fixed.
I tried posting on the firefiox forum and they recommended to come here.
    Any thoughts?

No that would be too much pain I think - copying everything across again.
No, no, no... I mean create a new admin account JUST FOR THE PURPOSE of testing the installer. It'd be a totally blank, empty account.
THAT'S the best way to determine if your account has permissions issues. If the installer and Flash Player works, as it does on your wife's account, you'll know where the trouble lies... in your account, which may or may not mean you have to move everything over. If this isn't something "liveable", then move stuff. If it IS liveable, then I wouldn't bother.

  • What level of clipping is acceptable on output1-2??

Hi all Ive been told that even if your output 1-2 says its clipping, the actual sound might not be affected. I was told that you can go up to 6db over. Ive put a meter on the output1-2 and i got it to about 6 over. It sounds fine. Is this acceptable?
