Flash Player Configuration Failed

I've been having this problem with Firefox 6.0.2 and Shockwave Flash 10.0.32.18
Every time I tried to download the Flash Player I got a Configuration Failed message.
I finally got around after noticing on the Firefox Tools -> Add Ons - > Click to see if your plugins are up to date that there was a message about Firefoix disabling Flash for security reasons.
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
I downloaded the Flash player and the latest version of Firefox.
I uninstalled Firefox answering yes to get rid of everything.
I then installed the flashplayer before installing firefox.
Went to the website I was having the problem about missing plugin and it's now working fine.
Couldn't find this solution elsewhere so I thought I'd stick it up for anyone else having the same issues.
BTW I also had stopped my ad popup blocker and done the resynch time solution offered elsewhere.

Try downloading the installer from http://forums.adobe.com/thread/889580

  • KDE: Flash player configuration appears in category Lost and Found

Adobe flash player comes with file
    /usr/share/kde4/services/kcm_adobe_flash_player.desktop
This file contains a line controling where the flash player configuration should appear in the KDE system settings:
    X-KDE-System-Settings-Parent-Category=personal
Unfortunately the parent category does not exist. Hence the Adobe flash player configuration control appears in category "Lost and Found".
The line should be replaced by:
    X-KDE-System-Settings-Parent-Category=personal-information

After the correction the system settins show Adobe Flash Player like this:

Here is a screenshot of the incorrect behaviour with the original file:

  • AIR Flash Player configuration file location

What is the name and location of the AIR Flash Player configuration file? I'm assuming the name should be mm.cfg like it is for the flash palyer on the desktop, where do I put this file when I compile my AIR app?

The "per user" config file, mm.cfg, is outlined here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flex/using/WS2db454920e96a9e51e63e3d11c0bf69084-7fc9.html
If you want to modify the system level mms.cfg, that'll be in your C:\windows\syswow64\macromed\flash folder

  • Flash Player keeps failing in safari

I am using mac OS X Yosemite.
For some unknown reason flash keeps failing in safari, but works in chrome. I can't seem to resolve this issue, This is what I tried so far from answers I received in the apple support forums:
If you can't install or update Flash, follow these instructions.
If you have installed the latest version of Flash, please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 8. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
You might have to log out or restart the computer before a Flash update takes effect.
    Step 2
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data...
and confirm. Close the window. Then select
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced ▹ Delete All...
In the sheet that opens, check the box marked
Delete All Site Data and Settings
then click Delete Data. Close the preference pane.
    Step 3
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 4
    a. If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then select the Security tab in the Safari preferences window. In the list of plugins on the left, there should be one—and only one—entry for "Adobe Flash Player," showing the same version number that you installed. Select that entry. On the right there will be a list of websites for which you have specifically allowed Flash, if any. It's normal for the list to be empty. Below that is a menu labeled
              When visiting other websites
From that menu, select either Allow or Ask.
    b. If you still get the alerts, then go back to the Flash Player preference pane and select the Advanced tab. Click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
    c. If the alerts still persist, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
              Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
In the Safari preferences window, select the Advanced tab and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Step 6
Open this folder as in Step 4:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
              Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    Step 7
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 8
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
              Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
              Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 9
    Select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
We have also run diagnostics on my mac but could not resolve this and eventually I was told the only thing left to do is seek support from adobe.
    Please help!

alright, also, I saw that in those instructions it tells me to delete these:
    <home directory>/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash\ Player
    <home directory>/Library/Caches/Adobe/Flash\ Player
now I can't find any of that stuff but I did find two files called com.macromedia.Flash Player.plugin.sb
in the library sub folders. should I delete them?

  • Flash Player 9 fails to properly install

I have tried everything I know to get Flash9 to
work. After uninstalling I restart my computer and install flash.
It says it was installed but when I go back to Adobe site and test
the player nothing except Shockwave comes up. I am using Netscape
and never had this problem with anyother versions. The strange
thing is that the install program dumps everything into
c:windows\system32\macromedia\flash. There is nothing in the
Netscape plugin folder. Also when I try to download Flash9 it
finishes in about 3 sec. Each time I try a fresh download I get
different results. Sometimes after installing I am asked to install
flash sometimes not. I opened a case with support but have not
heard anything as yet. This is getting to be a real pain.If there
are issues with the download file I hope they get resolved because
    something just doesn't seem right.
    Thanks for any help-Bob

Bentley,Thanks for the reply. I had prior to this posting
opened a case and got some information from that. I downloaded
another uninstaller and the Flash Player installer. I uninstalled
it,restarted my machine and installed flash. After that I restarted
again and the connected to net. I got a window asking if I wanted
to install flash. I clicked yes and got an error message that
install failed. After the install I went to
    c;windows/system32/macromedia/flash. The files installed there
    were: flash player.xpt,install file,NPSWP32.dll,NPSWP32_flashutil
and uninstall plugin. I then went to the Netscape plugin folder and
there was nothing in it for flash. I don't understand this at all.
Prior to this version I never had a problem installing flash. On
other versions once the install was done I would get window asking
me to install and then I wouls go to page to test player and it
always showed up and they worked just fine. Is something missing
from the download? Shouldn't there also be an .ocx file? Why would
the install fail to install the necessary file into the Netscape
plugin folder? Thanks for any insight into this. Bob

  • Flash Player Update Fails Windows 7 64 bit??

This problem has been the case on many applications & websites over the past 8 months, which renders much of the web and some of my software, useless.
I have followed all recommendations, from MS, Adobe and from suggestions on many, many forums, yet still the problem of installing the FlashPlayer update continues to hamper my Windows experience.  I have been FORCED to use Chrome as my browser instead of Internet Explorer and now my printing software from HP no longer works.
The ActiveX control/Update from Adobe will NOT under any cenario, complete installation and continues to fail when registering.  I am using admin rights and I am very competant with the use of computers and software.  The only thing I am reluctant to do, is to manually edit the registry.
Searching the net, I find this is a very common issue which is yet to be resolved. Why is this?  The installation of any software in this day & age, should be straight forward and simple.  This issue has been a problem for thousands of people for quite some time and I am dismayed that it has continued!! Why have Microsoft & Adobe failed the end user in respect of this?
I have tried all previously suggested options and procedures set out here, on the Adobe website and those recommended in forums.  I have also tried the option to un-install Flash Player (with Adobe Flash Un-installer), and re-install from scratch.  I do have full admin rights on this PC and have run the update as Administrator.  I have - before someone should ask - followed the install procedure with all security software disabled.
So sensible people, with sensible answers, how did you fix this issue on your machine?
    Thank you!
(OS: Windows 7 64bit, IE 10 - Latest - also now have to use Chrome to view online video content).

'Failed to register' is caused by inadequate/corrupted registry key permissions.
One possibility to fix it (does not work in some cases): How do I fix Windows permission problems with Flash Player?
Another possibility that I have just though of: can you try http://support.microsoft.com/mats/program_install_and_uninstall/
Also, have you tried to use the offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#mai n-pars_header ?

  • Flash Player 10--failed to register

I have been trying to download and install Adobe Flash Player 10, but cannot make it happen. I have tried with both IE7 & IE8. I have tried installing from your site and also downloading the executable file. From your site I get the error, "Failed to register". If I use the downloaded executable file, Install_Flash_Player_10_ActiveX.zip, the error I get is "Failed to Install." I have read many of the forum threads on this and, as suggested there, have tried going to the DOS command prompt and typing, "secedit...", but DOS says the command does not exist. What can I do?

    the fastest solution is this:
    Open register
    go to:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{D27CDB6B-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}
select this number with a right click
select permissions and put a V on averybody and anonimous controll and read
than you can install flash 10 from the adobe site as usual
this works on windows 7  and XP

  • Adobe Flash Player 10 failed to register

Hello, I don't know much about how Adobe Flash Player works or how to fix this issue. I have a XP Pro SP3 and my flash player worked fine when I first installed it. Then one day, I turned on my laptop and let it load and suddenly my flash player would not work. I then proceeded to uninstall and reinstall the player assuming that would help, however I was wrong. I then tried ridding my computer of all adobe products and was hoping to reinstall them right after rebooting. That was a great idea except excruciating problem, my computer WILL NOT allow me to uninstall Adobe Reader, or Adobe AIR.
When I do try to uninstall the programs, I get this message
" This application requires a version of Adobe AIR which cannot be found.
Please download the latest version of runtime from
    http://www.adobe.com/go/getair ,
or contact the application author for an updated version. "
I also get a similar message when I try to uninstall Adobe Reader.
I would really appreciate some help with this as it is a major inconvienence for me.
    Thank you in advance,
    Cody518

After going through my control panel and looking at my add/remove programs section, I currently have Adobe AIR, Adobe Download Manager, and Adobe Reader 9.3.1
I've also tried updating my adobe reader and I get an update failed notice saying
" Cannot establish a connection. Please try again later. "
I obviously have a internet connection, so why would this happen?

  • Flash Player: Connection failed. Unable to complete installation. Mac OSX

I'm working on a mac running 10.10.1 Yosemite in Safari. My current Flash version is 15.0.0.
On most videos and pictures it now says 'Your Flash Player is out of date".
I've clicked on this icon, which opens saying do you want to download the newest version, and clicked yes.
I've downloaded Adobe Flash Player Update several times.
The downloading always works, the problem is with the installation:
It failed the first time, and all following times it 'picks up' at about 30% then goes up all the way to 97% (sometimes 99%) and then says: Connection failed. Unable to complete installation.
I've tried all the links in the forums saying download directly from here: http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_osx.dmg - but safari can't find the link.
I wanted to deinstall Flash Player and found this link on the adobe website(Uninstall Flash Player | Mac OS): http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player_os x.dmg -> but it says "Safari can't find the server fpdownload.macromedia.com" so I can't even uninstall it!
I have no idea what else to try???
I also tried to open all those links in Firefox and Chrome and they weren't found there either.
Has anyone ideas what I can do? All the links that I found in the forum which solved the problem for others are 'not found' when I click on them.
    Thanks for any tipps!!!

How to perform a "clean install" of Flash Player in Mac OS X

  • Quark Interactive Designer and Flash Player 9 failing to install

    … could they be connected?
    Hi All
I've had the support techs at Quark on this for over a month and so far nothing we've tried has worked. I upgraded my version of Quark Xpress to 7 and was looking forward to trying out the new Interactive Designer but it keeps on hanging at "Items remaining to be installed: 3903" with the blue and white straw rolling along the bottom.
We tried changing my Hard disk name – I had full points in it. Tried disconnecting the external hard drive. Tried installing as a root user. They even gave me a link to install the latest updated version of Quark and new installation keys – Xpress installs but Interactive Designer won't.
Today I tried to install Flash Player 9 and I had the same problem with that, so I'm wondering if it is a problem with some crucial missing system file???
Does anyone out there have any clues please?
    Thanks very much for reading!

    Hi Alistair,
What you have going there is some corruption on part of your hard disk that keeps track of where files are. When the logic on your computer loses track of files you can begin to see nastiness occur as you are seeing now.
At this point you may wish to have Apple do the following, but if you're up for it here's what to do...
There is a utility called "Disk Warrior" that has some success in repairing this kind of problem. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Now, I should mention that this corruption can be caused by the actual hard drive itself going bad. A hardware failure. That's not always the case but it is possible. The older the drive the more likely. Over two or three years the chance goes up, but they can go bad after a week, although that is rare.
The wise thing to do is to back up your data as best you can onto some other media. Do that first!
If you elect to skip the Disk Warrior approach then once your data is backed up you need to format your hard drive by doing an "erase and install" when you are booted off your Apple system DVD disk. This will erase your drive! Everything gone! But it will also repair your file system. When it's finished your computer will be in a state such as when you pulled it out of the box sent from Apple. Once that is done then run Disk Utility two or three times until it goes from start to finish without encountering any problems. If it still has problems then the drive is probably bad and should be replaced.
After that you will have to configure your Mac as you want it. Then install your after-market applications, Flash, etc. Then finely restore all of your data files from your backup you did in step one. Quark and Flash should now install correctly.
This is a big job if you have a lot of applications on there, but the cost is only time providing you have somewhere to put your files. If you have another Mac you may be able to do a Firewire Mac to Mac file transfer, "Target disk mode" is the term for that.
Sorry for the bad news but that's what you are looking at. Just be sure to back up your data before you start. I don't know your level but if you need help then write back and ask for it.

  • Flash Player Install failed with error code: 30

Hi, I want to report a problem with the Adobe Flash Player 13.0.0.182 (Mac OS X, English) installer on OS X 10.9.2. Mavericks.  I'm posting this so the engineers will know what to fix in the next update version.
I have a 2013 iMac so according to Adobe blog posts it shouldn't be affected by the invalid cpu instruction issue.
Symptom is the first installer downloads the 2nd, starts to launch it, then quits it with "Error: Unable to proceed with the installation" and a green (success?) checkmark.  The GUI provides no other assistance except to "FINISH", which leads to the generic "Adobe Flash Player could not be installed." page.
The system log says: Adobe Flash Player Install Manager[22567]: Install failed with error code: 30.
    The FlashPlayerInstallManager.log says:

Regardless... I still recommend "falling back" to 12 until they get this release right for everyone. I've read plenty of posts in the Apple forums from new iMac, Mini and MacBook users who've had nothing but trouble. Even the "gurus" there are linking to Chris Campbell's post here:

  • Latest flash player installation fails in IE8/Win XP

I have been trying to install the latest version of the Flash Player on my XP system for two days. Here's my system info:
Win = 32-bit Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3
Browser = Internet Explorer Version 8.0.6001.18702
Flash Player - the one I was using (recent but not a beta) was uninstalled when I tried to install your latest version at your site in the usual way. After a couple of attempts to install, I downloaded and ran the player uninstaller according the instructions found on your site - Adobe® Flash® Player Installer/Uninstaller 10.1 r53 - just to make sure I was doing a clean install. I also downloaded the latest version and ran it manually.
All attempts to install have failed. I've seen two different installers, BTW, and they both reported failure but a reason and suggested your troubleshooting page.
I went to the troubleshooting page, where I tried everything, by the book.
Most recent attempts produced the following message when attempting to install from your site:
"The version of adobe flash player active x that you are trying to install is not the most current version. Please visit http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer to obtain the latest, most secure version."
I went to that page, again without success. There are no Flash active x components listed in my browser objects.
I was able to install the latest version of Shockwave player (I tried, just to see if that would fail, but that was successful.)
I should add that I do some web work using Flash 8, so that is also on my system, but I have never run into a problem installing a newer Flash Player until now. (And I have been using Flash since before Macromedia, when it was called FutureSplash.)
    Obviously, HELP!

This one nearly did me in. Countless uninstalls/installs, headstands, etc. later, I finally found a solution that worked for me:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/494/cpsid_49419.html
I hope this works for you, too!!
A damaged Windows system registry or incorrect registry permissions settings may prevent you from installing Flash Player.
    Symptoms may include:
During installation, you see the error message "Failed to install. For Troubleshooting please see: http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_19166."
Your Flash Player installation finishes with no error, but you cannot view Flash content in Internet Explorer.
Some sites tell you that you do not have the correct version of Flash Player, even though you have installed the latest version.
Some sites tell you to reinstall Flash Player, but after you do so, you see the same message.
Permissions can be tricky, but in most cases, you can install and use Adobe Flash Player if you are logged into a Windows Administrator account. If you don't know how to do this, check with your system administrator, or read your Windows documentation.
    System administrators
If you are a system administrator, see Registry permissions required for Flash Player install or update (TechNote tn_19148).
    Solution
Warning! By following the directions below, you will modify the Windows System Registry. A mistake could cause serious system damage, which may require you to reinstall your operating system.
If you are not comfortable editing the registry, get help from your system administrator or another IT professional.
If you choose to proceed, first back up your entire hard drive, and create a Windows System Restore Point.
Adobe Systems cannot be held responsible for damage resulting from your following these instructions.
Make sure you are logged into a Windows Administrator account. If you are not, you will not be able to use SubInACL.
Download SubInACL from the Microsoft Download Center.
Follow the installation instructions. Make sure you install SubInACL (subinacl.exe) to the directory C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools.
    Download the reset_fp10.zip file.
Open the fp10.zip file and extract the reset_fp10.cmd file to the directory C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools\. Note that that both this file and SubInACL (subinacl.exe) must be in this directory.
Double-click reset_fp10.cmd. A command window will open, and SubInACL will run.
Do not use the machine while SubInACL is running.
After SubInACL finishes, you will see a prompt "Press any key to continue".
Install Flash Player from the Flash Player download page.
To confirm that your installation succeeded, visit the About Flash Player page. At the top of the screen, you should see a message that reads "Adobe Flash Player Successfully Installed."
