Flash Player Conflict with OSX 10.4.11 ??

Hi All! I recently tried to upgrade to new version of Flash Player 9. Install was successful, but I can't access any online Flash content. Tried to uninstall and reinstall several times, to no avail. Any suggestions for troubleshooting? Any other known software conflicts with Flash Player 9? Thanks for any suggestions you can offer! Sue

Hello and welcome, there was once a problem/conflict with Quicktime. Sometimes Quicktimes preferences has it set up as the default viewer for flash content.
To change this open Applications>System Preferences(or just click on it if it's in your dock) and click on QuickTime. From the tabs in the window select "Advanced".
At the bottom of this window click on the "MIME setting..." button. A drop down list will appear. At the bottom is "Miscellanious" click the small triangle to expand it. In that list is "Flash media" UNcheck it. Click OK and restart your computer.
Hope this helps...Cheers,
Glynn

  • Install Flash Player 9 for OSX

I’ve installed Flash Player 9 for OSX and it
doesn’t seem to work. I’m not experiencing anything
similar to previous threads. I don’t get any errors and the
installation seems to go fine but when I return to any site that
requires Flash Player 9 it tells me that I need to install the
latest version, which I’ve done. I’ve even uninstalled
and then reinstalled with the same result. Did I miss something
    here?

I have been having the same problem since installing Leopard.
I have tried suggestions from others:
there are no browsers running when I install Flash Player
I have repaired permissions (both before and after
    installing)
    I have uninstalled before reinstalling
None of these work. I am unable to view Flash content in
Safari, Firefox or Internet Explorer. I am using a G5 Mac desktop
and have had no previous problems with the Flash player on this
    machine.

  • Can't install flash player on Mac OSX version 10.4.11

    Hello
I've spent the morning trying to do this and still no joy. I had flash player already and when trying to use the 4oD website it asked me to download or upgrade flashplayer. I did, the correct version according to my mac version. All goes well and the window message says 'installed successfully'.The only thing I find strange is that just before this message appears I hear the sound of items being put in the 'trash' ... and there they are. Other times the message error -1409 appears. The only icon that appears is the Flash player installer.pkg so not sure whether the application was installed or just the installer!  All web searches prompt me to download the missing plug in, both in safari and mozilla. Java script is definitely enabled on both browsers.
I have use the uninstall package three times, restarted the computer, downloaded flash player again but no change.
Forgive my limited use of jargon - this doesn't make any sense to me but I've just spent 3 hours following instructions to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Monika

Is flash player compatible with the kindle fire?

I am able to run flash on my Kindle Fire HD. It was actually really easy. You have to use a process called sideloading. The information is all over the web. Check out this site: http://kindlefirelive.com/install-adobe-flash-player-onto-your-kindle-fire/

  • Flash 11 conflicts with Real player

    Hello ,
I have windows os having VLC player, K-Lite Kodec Pack and Goms Player.
I am trying to install flash 11 current plugin.  Its installed successfuly.
But it gives me error as : "Real Player 11 is known to cause system conflicts when installed with Flash Player. Please unistall or disable the Real Player browser download feature."
I have no Real Player installed anywher but still it gives me such error.
Please can anyone give me solution.
    Thanks,
    Pranav Unde.

Are you using Firefox by any chance? If so, open it then press CTRL+SHIFT+A to open the Add-ons manager and then go to the Extensions menu. Can you see "RealPlayer Browser Record" in there? If so, click the Disable button.
Sometimes these apps are installed as bundled software, that is to say, when you installed an app, you got the option to install RealPlayer as well and agreed to it. "Agreeing" means you didn't remove the checkmark to install it.

  • I've had a problem installing Adobe Flash Player; also with Firefox. Tried to download a new FF; it goes crazy! keeps repeating an opening page! Now I don't have FF installed, or Flashplayer, and I think these problems are connected. Help!

Mac OSX 10.5.8 system. Problems have been ongoing with the Firefox I had installed a while ago: would open browser in Safari, and FF would take over; keep asking me to personalize my browser program. In truth, Firefox was kind of "taking over", and I wasn't happy with it. Usually open the internet in Safari.
Present problems started with trying to download, install and open a few new games. Kept telling me I needed to install Adobe Flashplayer. I could download it, but it wouldn't install. Downloaded both the Flashplayer installer AND the Flashplayer uninstaller a number of times. Today, I decided to get rid of the Firefox on my hard drive and download a newer version - then try again to download Flashplayer and install. The new FF download just kept opening a new browser page.

What is your current Flash Player version: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html ?

  • Flash play conflict with my website

I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser since the security breach in I.E.  I also use Shutterfly to work on digital photo albums.  Shutterfly requires Adobe Flash Player to be able to load the digital books to work on.  I have no problem downloading and installing the flash player (which makes the photo books work fine).  However, as soon as the flash player is downloaded, all sorts of words in my personal website are underlined (very random), and then they create hyperlinks to ads.  I cannot have this happening in my website, so I've had to uninstall adobe flash player (done this twice now).  I can work on the photo books in I.E. but am preferring not to until the security issues are resolved.  I cannot find any information as to why very random words are being underlined in my website and how to make this not happen.  Has anyone seen such a conflict with their websites and adobe flash player?  Thanks for any assistance anyone can offer.

It was happening on my personal website laurenajenkinshoffmeyer.com  But you will not currently see it, because when it happened, I uninstalled the flash player.  As long as it is uninstalled (in Firefox) you won't see the problem.  I do not have the problem using Internet Explorer but don't want to use that web browser due to current security issues.

  • Windows Media player and flash player conflicting

    Hello,
I have a problem with watching streams (television programs)
on the internet. I think this is caused by conflicting roles of
windows media player and flash player. When i don't have installed
flash player i can watch the streams. When i install flash player,
i see only green and red blocks on the respective screen. I don't
know where the problem lies. I have installed Windows Media player
again, (also Flash player) but this hasn't worked. The streams work
    with Mozilla firefox.
I hope you could really help me,
    Sincerily,
    Tuncie

    Hi Tuncie
Verify that Windows Media Player is not set as the default
player for all content in Firefox including Flash.
Also, please respond with a URL for testing.

  • Is the new version of Flash player compatible with FF 3.6.17?

I updated to the new version of Flash - 10.3.181.26 - because of some sort of problem with the old version. Now FF does not recognize Flash as being installed. I have both versions in .mozilla/plugins. I use .new and .old as the extension for the one I am not using. Version 10.3.d162 works when it is .so. 10.3.181 does not.

There are a number of active threads concerning the latest Flash player plugin (11.3) and the latest Firefox (13). Not all users are experiencing the same issues, but things to check include the following:
    - Conflict with Realplayer Browser Record plugin (to disable this, open Add-ons from the orange Firefox button or the classic Tools menu and look under the Extensions and Plugins categories)
    - Conflict with Flash 11.3 Protected Mode (see [http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071?tstart=0 Adobe Forums: How do I disable Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?])
Scanning down the front of the forums probably will yield additional suggestions: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions
Please post back with your results.

  • Flash Player Compatible with IE10 64 Bit?

I am running Windows 7 64 bit with IE10 64 bit version.  The flash player version 11.7.700.169 was working OK until I downloaded the latest version 11.7.700.202.  Now I can get Youtube videos to play, but only in HTML5 mode.  When I go into the link http://www.youtube.com/html  it specifically stated that I was not in the trial.  I also got the message “Your web browser has blocked this site from using an Active X control in an unsafe manner.  As a result, this page might not display correctly.”  I tried getting into IE’s internet options, security, custom level, then enabled “Initialize and script Active X controls not marked as safe for scripting.” The flash player worked in Adobe’s mode although I kept getting popups from Microsoft saying there was a security problem.      I have tried removing the plug-in version of flash player and reinstalling it.  I also have the Active X edition installed.  When I go to control panel, Adobe flash player, it states that both versions of the flash player are installed with the latest edition.  The red icon also states Flash Player 32 bit.  While in IE’s browser, if I navigate to the adobe page that checks to see if your version is installed, all I get is a gray box.  This only happens when I am using IE10 and Avant’s browsers.  While in Firefox or Chrome the videos play fine, and the Adobe web page states that my version is Windows 64 bit, browser Chrome.   I really don’t think there is a conflict between the browsers.  I read somewhere that the flash player does not work in IE’s 64 bit, but only in IE’s 32 bit, in which case I would have to reinstall the previous version of IE.  Now I am getting the message “An add on to this site failed to run.”  Again, this only happens in IE and Avant, not Firefox or Chrome.  If the flash player doesn’t work in the 64 bit, why does the download proceed?  Before downloading it says you have Windows 7 64 bit IE I believe and, therefore, there is a presumption that it will work.  There is something on one web page that is somewhat hidden that says, “for 64 bit users.”

Thank you.  I read somewhere on this forum where someone had installed the 64 bit version on IE9.   Shockwave is enabled.  I get the message every time I go to a Youtube site, or any other site that plays videos like the weather channel.  At the top of the screen a display first pops up stating that I need Adobe installed.  That quickly goes away and at the bottom of the page I get the add on failed to run message.  I tried removing Adobe’s Active X from add/remove programs and did a reinstall.  After the installation a screen displayed stating that the installation was successful.  I realize that IE and Avant use the Active X version and not the plug in version.  I used IE and Avant for years without any problems, and have just recently added the Chrome and Firefox.  If I remember correctly, before I added Chrome and Firefox I got a message at the top of a screen in IE stating that I needed the plug in.  So I installed it.  I get the impression that I didn’t need the plug in and that may be where the problem started.  At this point I am inclined to remove Adobe by using the uninstall tool and then remove the remaining files from the instructions on Adobe’s site.  If I use the uninstall tool can I just remove the Active X version, or will it remove the plug in version too?  Can I reinstall everything by using the plugin MSI installer or should I install the plug in separately from the Active X?

  • Newer licensed Flash player & using with AD

Two parts. First, I'm hoping someone updates the version of
Flash 10 player (10.0.22.87) that's used by companies for internal
    networks. Still at 10.0.12.xx.
Second, when I publish Player 9 in Active directory, any user
can install it. But when I try 10.0.12.xx, non-local administrators
can't install sating they need administrative privledges. That's
the whole point of publishing! so those without elevated privledges
    can install without bugging IT!

I use NetLimiter 3.0.0.11 on my system without any problems with the latest Flash Player builds (or any other application for that matter.)  Looking forward to NetLimiter 4 once they get it ready for prime time.
Given your description, my first guess would be that Flash Player's protected mode, introduced in 11.4, is causing a conflict with earlier versions of NetLimter.  I'd recommend trying to disable protected mode to see if that resolves the problem.  You can find instructions for doing this at the bottom of this FAQ:
How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?

  • Newest Version of Flash Player Issues With Firefox 12.0

Firefox just updated today to its newest version 12.0. After updating, every website was running slow or freezing. I eventually discovered that the culprit was the Adobe Flash Player Plugin. Disabling the plugin returned things to normal. I would like to still use the flash plug in, but have not found a way to enable it without all websites freezing. I am using a Windows 7 64-bit operating system. I have tired uninstalling and reinstalling the flash player and I have double checked that I am using the newest version of Flash Player. I have cleared the Flash Player cache, tried disabling the hardware acceleration option, and restarted my computer inbetween several times. I am offically at a loss for what to do? Please help me.

In your  opinion, should I uninstall Firefox if I am installing Waterfox?
Waterfox can coexist peacefully with Waterfox.  I have both installed, but never use Firefox any more.
Not only can Waterfox run in 64-bit address space, it also is better optimized during compile time than Firefox.  (For obvious reasons; Firefox is compatible with many old systems, Waterfox only needs to be compatible with new 64-bit systems.)
P.S. regarding Chris' advice above; Firefox and Waterfox use the same profile, so if that is actually the problem, then it will occur in both browsers.
