Flash Player constantly crashes on Firefox and Chrome, works on Safari

Hello!
This is my first time posting here. I've been working on this all day and have made NO progress.
I'm on a Mac OS X 10.9.3 (this was also happening with 10.9.2, I applied the 10.9.3 update today hoping it would make difference).
ANY version of Flash Player I've installed today has worked fine on Safari, and not worked on both Chrome and Firefox. I've uninstalled reinstalled both Firefox and Chrome many times. Both browsers are up to date (Chrome v34, Firefox v29). There are no logs or anything ever.
The plugin runs for a little bit then dies. I've tried reverting to version 12, and version 11, neither made a difference. I've done the whole disable the pepper plugin with Chrome and had Chrome using the other one I had installed. No difference.
I'm OUT of ideas and can't find any other information or help with this. PLEASE HELP!

Your issue is distinct from the original poster's issue about a crash on Mac.  I've branched this out to a new thread so that we're not confusing everyone.
Firefox on Win8 isn't very stable.  We're collaborating with Mozilla on improvements, and my test results with the daily development builds are really promising, but it will be a few more weeks before they actually make it to production releases.
In the meantime, you're way better off using IE or Chrome.

  • Flash Player Constantly Crashing w/ FireFox?!

I've been having a problem playing media on my computer.  Online, instead of playing the music or video (like on youtube or something), it would freeze up firefox for a few minutes then say that my flash player has crashed.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, even installing an older version, but nothing works.  The strangest part is, I can't even play music or video files that are saved on my computer!  I'm thinking it's connected, though I have no idea why.  Please, if anyone knows how to fix this, I'd really appreciate the help.

I have had the same problem for some time. Not only with Firefox, but with Internet Explorer (7 and 8) and Google Chrome. I am running a Windows 7 Home edition (version 6.1 build 7600) 64 bit O/S, and have read through multiple forums where the web browser is being criticised (unfairly?), and have tried all solutions offered there and here. I have uninstalled and re-installed the adobe flash/shockwave flash at least a dozen times, I have disabled all add-ons to try to isolate if this was a problem, and the flash player wouldnt work at all, but as soon as I enabled the Adobe Actve X the problem began again, so it is not another add-on causing the issue. I have disabled the hardware acceleration. Still a problem.
I am running version 10,1,102,64 of Adobe Flash Player
    Firefox version 3.6.12
    Internet Explorer version 8.0.7600.16385
    Google Chrome version 7.0.517.41
I use Windows updater so I am assuming that all Service packs, drivers etc are up to date.
    I use Avast Antivirus
Any help to solve this ongoing very frustrating problem would be much appreciated. It used to be that after un-installing and re-installing Flash it worked for a few weeks before constantly crashing, this last time it is crashing immediately, hence I am posting here.

  • The new flash player update crashes internet explorer and firefox

The new flash player update crashes internet explorer and firefox, please send a new release to fix the problem ASAP!

ok   here's more mystery.  i just uninstalled and reinstalled flash player using the adobe uninstaller and rebooting after each step.  aqlso installed latest java.  i started looking at videos and here are the ones that worked: you tube
                                                                                           imdb
                                                                                           hulu
                                                                                           ebaumsworld
here are the ones that didn't work:    yahoo
                                                                                           msn
                                                                                           reuters
here are the ones that partially worked: the blaze (works on videos that originate from you tube, but not from news stories)
bing (work on videos from their video section - entertainment type, but not from news videos)
the common thing here seems to be that news type videos crash and entertainment type don't.  also videos seem more likely to crash on internet portals like yahoo

Flash Player10.3.183.10 will not work in Safari on Mac OS x 10.5.8
The instillation says that it is successful, however when using Safari I'm informed I do not have flash player installed. When I check the hard drive, flash player in no where to be found. I have tried all of the troubleshooting from the Adobe website, and I am still stumped. I was able to get the Flash Player to run in firefox 5.0, but not Safari.
Please Help!!!! I have searched the discussion boards for days now in my spare time and have not been able to find an answer.
I am not the most savvy person with computers, what am I missing here??

    In my Library/Internet Plug-ins folder I have a file named Flash Player.plugin (it's 22.8 MB however, not 23.9mb) and another named flashplayer.xpt (it's 4 KB however, not856 bytes).
I am unable to open the Plug-Ins menu (the browser pops up but wont load)...is there another way to check for Shockwave Flash?? When I do a search for "Shockwave" on my hard drive I do find a plug-in named "DirectorShockwave.plugin" (76 KB)
Also...The "Open using Rosetta" checkbox was already unchecked

  • Flash Player crashes IE9, Firefox and Chrome

The latest version of Flash Player 11.4.402.287 is causing my browsers (IE9, Firefox and Chrome) to crash when I'm on Pixorial.  I've contacted Pixorial customer service but they say it's a Flash Player problem.
    I'm running the following:
    Windows 7 Professional
    Chrome 22.2.1229.94 m
    IE9 9.0.8112.16421IC
I have updated the display adapter driver (I read somewhere that might help) but no change.  I am having the same problem on my laptop at home which is using the exact same versions I have typed above, except it uses Windows XP.
Any help is sincerely appreciated.  I'm at the end of my rope and I don't know how to fix this.

I got reply and they said it's not necessarily a Flash Player problem. The app need to load heavy resource to run so it might be causing performance issue under your HW/SW configration. Have your machine with same setting worked fine before and suddenly started the issue after installing Flash 11.4.402.287?

  • Adobe Flash and Shockwave keep crashing in Firefox and Chrome.

The problem just started last night.
    Firefox 6.0.2
    Chrome13.0.782.220
I have uninstalled, then rebooted and reinstalled Flash Player, Shockwave, and plug-in for Firefox.
After installing it worked and then stopped working again about an hour ago.
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit OS
    Service Pack 1
NVidia GT220 driver is up to date.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Using FireFox 10.0.2 and Flash Player 11.1.102.62 (or any other combination that I have tried so far) on Windows 7 64 bit, after a few seconds of playing a YouTube video the video freezes up and after a few more seconds I get the frowny face with the message that Flash Player has crashed.  Several people have recommended disabling hardware acceleration but that didn't help.  The only way I can get it to play YouTube videos is to go to FireFox Plugins and disable the Shockwave plugin.  Now I can play YouTube videos, but some videos that come to me from other platforms pop up with the message:  "This plugin is disabled."
I used to be able to play all videos with no problem up to about two weeks ago. I don't want to have to restore to a previous time if I don't have to.
Also, when I use Internet Explorer I have no problems playing either YouTube of those from other sources.
I have seen a lot of questions on this problem but no good answers that have worked for me.
BTW, on each crash I clicked on reload and submit report, but don't know if it goes anywhere.

  • I need help with new flash player constantly crashing

Ever since updating the flash player it is constantly crashing. I have updated firefox also which constantly crashes. Firefox is pointing the finger at the flash player..... I need someone who will work with me step by step as i am not a computer tech. The two websites i visit that the flash player crashes on is www.myspace.com while playing mobsters and mafia wars, and www.smallworlds.com which is a 3d interactive " chat room ". I have tried removing the flash player and going with an older version, but it continues to kick me to the updated version...Please help!

Hi, thanks for your Flash file info. You have the SWFlash.ocx that is old. Right click on that one and Remove/Delete it.
Your SWF plug-in is correct as well as the remainder of your Flash files. The SWFlash.ocx that needs removed is conflicting.
The Windows Firewall should be used. Now I see that you have not updated to the Windows XP Service Pack 3, which is the latest. I would recommend that you do that. Many improvements and security issues are included in that. You can go to the Microsoft site for that.
After you do that, Microsoft has the Microsoft Security Essentials which is a free program and has the Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware features. It does not include a Firewall nor are there any browser add ons that would conflict with your browser, other add ons or Flash Player.
I'm not sure of the system requirements for the MSE, but check. You may need the updated Service Pack first. Before you Install the MSE tho, make sure no other anti-virus is still Installed. The one you mentioned needs Uninstalled and you need to check if they have an Uninstaller and do that first.
Whether you do any of what I suggested or not, you need to Remove that SWFlash.ocx. I would reboot(restart) your computer afterwards.
P.S. Firefox has updated to 3.6.8 and you can do that anytime.
    Thanks,

  • Flash Player 11 temporarily hangs IE and Chrome

I work for an IT consulting company and I've got an unusual situation that I'm trying to help a client with.  My client has had slow internet problems for several weeks.  She is the only one on the network having the issue.  I traced the issue back to Flash Player.  The sites that cause problems are the ones with flash.  even the Adobe flash confirmation page causes problems.  And the issue is not limited to Internet Explorer.  I downloaded and installed Chrome thinking she could use it as a workaround and it had the same issue as well.  Here's her specs:
    Windows 7 64-bit
    Internet Explorer 9
    Flash Player 11
Here's what's happening:  When opening a page with a flash component, the component takes a while (several minutes) to load and both IE (or Chrome) and Windows become nonresponsive until it loads.  I've watched the CPU usage during the time and the CPU spikes when the Flash starts to load and stays maxed out until the Flash component has loaded.
    What I've tried:
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Flash Player (including a full manual uninstall as suggested by the support documentation).  I've tried downgrading IE to version 8, completely uninstalled, downloaded a fresh copy and reinstalled IE.  Downloaded and tried Google Chrome browser.  Updated video drivers.  Ran virus scan, and checked the windows system files.
Possibly related:  I don't know if it's related but I couldn't access the Settings page when right clicking on a flash component.  I can access the global settings but the settings option is grayed out.  I noticed this when trying to disable the hardware acceleration.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Shanehudg

We are currently fighting this issue as well, in a corporate Windows domain environment. It only seems to affect Windows 7 + Internet Explorer 8, and it started with Flash 11.2.202.228. The same issue shows up in .233 and .235. These versions of Active X flash + IE 8 + XP work fine. As a workaround we are installing Firefox and the plugin version of Flash on the Windows 7 computers and that works fine.
The symptoms are that it takes forever for pages to load that have Flash content (e.g. www.msn.com, www.adobe.com/software/flash/about) while sites like www.google.com will load immediately. The issue only shows up when logged on as a domain user. If I log on to the same computer as a domain administrator, it works perfectly, so it looks like some sort of permissions or privilege issue to me. Nothing has changed on our domain settings in that regard.
One thing that may be different about our environment is that we have a Software Restriction Policy (SRP) Group Policy Object (GPO) in Active Directory. This policy prevents programs from running in temporary directories, including the one used by Internet Explorer. Even though Firefox + Flash works, I tried adding a path exclusion to the \windows\system32\macromed\flash\ folder to bypass the SRP but this had no effect.
So, my question to Adobe would be, what is different about the way that .228 and higher versions operate, compared to previous versions?

  • Why does my flash player always crash with Firefox?

Flash player always crashes and slows my browsing. Firefox is updated and so is flash player yet never works.

You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:
*check for updates for your graphics drive drivers<br>https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

  • Flash Player Constantly crashing

    HI,
I've recently downloaded the latest version of adobe flash player (Version 14.0.0.125) and it is now constantly crashing almost every site i go on on the internet - including the adobe website! It happens in every browser (Chrome, Firefox, IE) and nothing seems to work. I've installed and uninstalled the latest versions of everything multiple times now and this is getting ridiculously annoying.
    This is what I see:
If you click continue it just comes up with this again a few seconds later if you stop the plugin, as soon as you dare to touch anything it freezes all over again. This includes so much as scrolling down a page, let alone playing videos!
    HELP!

I AM ALSO HAVING THIS PROBLEM! I am using the same version of flash player. I am using a MacBook Air OSX 10.9.4. I have uninstalled and reinstalled flash player several times. I've tried multiple browsers. Opera was the first one to identify that the problem is with Shockwave Flash Player. It says:
"Shockwave Flash Player is slowing down your Mac"
The browser that is most affected is Google Chrome.
I only started having this problem in the last 2 weeks. I noticed that this tends to happen when multiple facebook tabs are open - but this was never a problem before. HELP! Someone please reply to our problem. This is very frustrating.

  • Flash Player Plugin fails in Firefox and IE

I am running Windows XP with Firefox 2 and IE7. All software
is current. When I click to play a flash video (CNN News) I am
    receiving the message
    Click
Here for Error Message which indicates Firefox and IE are not
finding the Plugin. It works just fine until one day I receive this
message. The plugin is installed for Flash Player 9, and shows as
active in the System Control panel. If I go ahead and install
anyway, it still repeats the message. The only way I can solve the
problem is going back a few System Restore points. This always
works. I cannot isolate any event in the interim which might be
suspect. I am using Zone Alarm and AVG antivirus software. No
alerts I am aware of. ??????
    Thanks, Bob

    Some additional information:
    I am using firefox 18.0.2.
I can't copy of the text from the "about:support" page in firefox because when I type that in the address bar, firefox immediately crashes.

  • Changing default audio application causes Flash Player to crash in Firefox on WinXP

my shockwave  (v17 installed) crashed constantly when adjusting audio. changed defualt web audio (options, applications, web audio) to windows media player from vlc. no more crashes...

On Win7 and higher with Firefox 37.0.1, Web Audio isn't an option -- but there are several dozen individual audio and video codecs listed.  There should be a discrete "Shockwave Flash Object" entry, with a "Use Shockwave Flash (in Firefox)" option.  I don't see a Web Audio entry.  I'm guessing that this behavior was problematic, and probably something that didn't make sense to carry forward to newer operating systems.
It may be some compatibility thing between WMP and Flash, but hard to know for sure.  I'll keep this in mind when working with Firefox/WinXP folks in the future though.
    Thanks!

  • I can't play my games on Facebook.Adobe Flash player plugin Crashed keeps coming up.I have updated adobe, did not help.

I cant play my games (FarmVille FrontierVille) On Facebook,Adobe Flash player plugin crashed keeps coming up.I have updated to the newest file.No good.
== URL of affected sites ==
    http://Facebook.com

I am having this same problem. Before the updates, the Adobe Flash player NEVER crashed in Firefox (it did in Google Chrome all the time) and now it's crashing in all my favorite games....Farmville, Frontierville, Yoville, and Treasure Isle. It doesn't seem to be effecting the less-detailed Zynga games, such as Mafia Wars or Vampire Wars; and I can go into more detailed games that aren't Zynga and they seem to work fine too. I am not 100% sure what exactly the problem is, or who is causing it because I had a Firefox update, and then an Adobe update to the 10.1 beta. So I'm not sure if it's one or the other, or both of them put together.
I have uninstalled/reinstalled the flash player so many times my mind is numb, and even tried to find the one I had prior to this new 10.1 and nothing has worked. I even did what that link Chris posted to do, and I thought it had worked at first...I actually got to go into my Farmville and Treasure Isle for a little bit, then it turned around and crashed again.
This is literally driving me crazy trying to figure it all out.....and it upsets me that everything was fine one day, then after some updates, everything is messed up. And it's just my luck that it effected some of the games I like to play the most.

This is the latest version.  I used the uninstaller tool and did a fresh reinstall. I did not delete all the directories from the old setting, so that might be next, but I feel like I am grasping at straws here.
The firefox installation is also the latest version.  I am on Windows 7 x64. Dual Xeons.
I do notice the flash control panel says (32 bit), which seems odd.
I read where it said to try turning off hardware acceleration, but I do not have such a setting in my CP, and I cannot get the flash player to work long enough to use the old settings panel.
Can someone give me some steps to isolate the problem?

OK, now. I have not used facebook on firefox in a few days, and I have not seen the flash crashes.
In fact, no firefox crashes.  But I now have  20 in the last 5 minutes.
    Not flash, however.
Could be something else, or this could be all related.
Flash is working on my fitbit dashboard, so that's just *not* the problem. Or not at the moment.
This crash dump is quite a bit different from the last one.
