Flash Player Control on Windows 8

I have a VB.NET application under development that uses the flash player control via axinterop.shockwaveflashobjects.dll and Interop.shockwaveflashobjects.dll. With the release preview of Windows 8 the flash animations do not work. I assume this has to do with the fact that Flsh is not integrated into Windows and something is missing. I tried to open my projects up in Windows 8 but the references mentioned earlier are not present. Any ideas if this will be fixed prior to the release of Windows 8, or do I need to start looking for an alternative?

I apologize if my original post was a bit confusing. Basically, the Flash control that can be embedded into applications does not run, and development using this control is not possible, on the Windows 8 Release Preview.
I cannot update the Flash player on Windows 8 becuase the new Release Preview now comes with Adobe Flash 11.3 pre-installed, and the only way to get updates for Flash is through Windows update. Users of Windows 8 are no longer able to update Flash themselves.
The Flash player that comes with Windows 8 works fine in the web browser. In fact I can view the same SWF file I am trying to run in my application just fine via the web browser, so I know the problem isn't with my SWF file. It is just the Flash control that is embedded in my application that doesn't work properly. I have tried to update Flash on my development machine to the 11.3 beta and then rebuild my app, but the problem still persists on Windows 8 Release Preview machines.
I even went so far as to install Visual Studio on a Windows 8 Release Preview machine to see if I could rebuild my applicaiton there to get the Flash control to work properly. However, I am not able to compile my application because the .NET interop files (axinterop.shockwaveflashobjects.dll & Interop.shockwaveflashobjects.dll) that come with the Flash Player install on other versions of Windows, are not present on Windows 8. And since I cannot run the Flash install myself on Windows 8 I cannot get those files onto that computer so that I can build my application there.

  • Flash player controls hidden

my flash player controls hidden by taskbar. How do I make flash come down only to top of taskbar? Using Vista, firefox 22 and flash 11.7

That's a Taskbar properties setting NOT a Flash Player setting.
Right click your Taskbar and choose "Properties".
In the Taskbar Properties, UNCHECK "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows". (IF it isn't already unchecked)
UNCHECK "Lock the taskbar". (IF it isn't already unchecked)
    Click Apply and OK.
Your Taskbar WON'T be visible when you view Full Screen videos anymore.

  • Flash Player Updates to Windows 8

I need help downloading and installing the update to flash Player on my Windows 8 computer. I don't understand the Help FAQs. How do I reach a person at Adobe to help me?

You'd need to know how to uninstall it from Windows 8 (via the registry) to manually update Flash Player in Windows 8. Because it's embedded by Microsoft (for IE 10), it updates through Windows Update (in your Control Panel under System and Security and the Windows Update subheading)

  • How do I disable the hardware acceleration in Flash player on a Windows XP machine remotely?

How do I disable the hardware acceleration in Flash player on a Windows XP machine remotely?
I have a few hundred computers running Adobe Flash Player.
The operation system is Windows XP.
They are Compaq 6005 desktop PC’s, with an inbuilt ATI radeon HD 4200 video card.
We have a persistent issue where viewing a flash video (e.g. something on youtube) causes the video card driver to crash.  You are left with no video signal to the monitor.  Audio continues and the computer still responds to commands. This only happens when watching flash video.
    We have tried:
    Updating flash plugin (numerous versions)
Updating the video card drivers (we have tried the last three video card driver versions, including the HP drivers and ATI drivers)
Updating the browsers (this problem happens with IE8/9 and Firefox10/11/12)
There seems to be two ways to work round this issue.  One is to disable the video acceleration in the ‘troubleshoot’ section in the advanced part of the display settings area in windows.  The other way is to start a flash video, right click, go to ‘settings’ and untick the box marked ‘Enable Hardware Acceleration’.
Doing either of these things allows the user to view flash videos with no apparent issues.
Is there a way to disable the hardware acceleration in Flash without visiting the PC?  Perhaps an undocumented option in the mms.cfg file? I understand that you can use an option to skip the video card check, and so force hardware acceleration on, can you do the opposite?
    Thanks in advance
    Daniel.

    Hi.
I have had over 200 views, and no suggestions as to how this could be fixed.
I have also posted in the general flash forum, that thread has fewer views.
If I should put this question in a different forum please let me know which one.
If what I am asking is not possible is there a mechanism for escalating this issue or requesting a feature for the next version of flash?
    Thanks.

  • Flash Player 10.1 + Window printing in IE

    Hi,
We have a web application that uses a third party flah elements (Fussion Charts). And we display several charts and some texts and use the "window.prin()" system to print these pages and use them as briefings.
We normally use this ovet IE6, IE7, IE8, Firefox and Chrome.
We have detected an error when using MS browsers (IE6, IE7 & IE8) with the latest Flash Player version : 10,1,53,64.
Since we updated to that version, when we print the page via "window.print()" menu, the flash objects are not displayed at its original size but the flash elements are very small... tiny.
I've tried printing other pages wieh flah in them (Even the Adobe web page) and I have the same result... Flash elements are printed tiny and not at the configured size.
This is happening since we updated to 10.1.53.64, we have some PCs with version 10,0,22,87 installed and the printings works fine.
Is this a 10.1 version Bug??
    please help!
    Thanks in advance!!,
    Arman

Yes,  I was able get my hand on an earlier release of flash and it works
correclty so it is definitely an issue with the lastest release.
We are having users install a earlier release until the issue is fixed.
    Thanks for the information.

  • Flash Player 9 And Windows 98

I am current having a problem wwith flash player 9 under
windows 98. It seem that when I visit a site that uses Flash player
that Flash keeps using more and more of the system memory to the
point that the system resources will be exhausted, causing the PC
to slow and stop functioning properly. Once either all instances of
IE or Firefox are closed the resources are returned and my PC
operates "normally" again. Depending upon which web sites are
visited this problem can occour after as little as 5-10 minutes.
Returning to flash player 8 removed this problem. Are they any
known confiliction under windows 98 when using flash player 9?
Any help with this problem would be greatly
    appreciated.

well I managed to generate some good news. I attempted
installing the version 9 again and it didn't work so I went
throught the install list and located the subdirectory it was
attempting to ubsuccessfully install into and deleted the entire
subdirectory and reinstalled again. this time it correctly
installed version 9 and when I rebooted and ran the version checker
it finally responded with the correct version 9 within the correct
oS win 98. I think what had happened is I accidently clicked the
uopgrade icon and it overwrote version 9 with version 10 and
wouldn't allow me to rewrite the version 9 back into its original
location. anyways it is now working and I'll know better that to
authorize a version upgrade on the 98 system.

No one here would be privi to Apple's plans on the matter. Submit your feedback to Apple requesting such a feature:

In the interim, there is a reminder program for pretty much every need and taste in the App Store.

  • Is Flash Player Supported in Windows 7?

Is the most recent version of Flash Player supported in Windows 7?

An FYI for anyone thinking of installing the Flash player on Windows 7:
Installing the Firefox version of Flash was easy. Installing the Internet Explorer version was more difficult. The Adobe website crashes Internet Explorer 8.
The only way to install the Flash player (and the Shockwave player) on Internet Explorer 8 is to set Internet Explorer to Compatibility mode.
Note: I am using the Release Candidate (build 7100) of Windows 7. The problem I described may be fixed by the time Windows 7 is released to general availability.

  • Flash Player 7 for Windows Mobile crashes Pocket IE

I just downloaded and installed the latest Flash Player 7 for
Windows Mobile on my Windows Mobile 2003 SE device. As a result
Pocket Internet Explorer crashes whenever it tries to open a page

Is there any way to fix this and to get Flash support on

You will probably find that Adobe.com is using Flash 8 or 9
    content, hence
the crash. Since most up-to-date web sites will be similar,
    you may find
Flash 7 is largely unusable for web surfing.
    Just speculating.
    I don't know for certain.
