Flash Player download keeps failing with lost connection and then gives up.  satellite Internet connection

Win XP. Firefox 34.0.5 (latest)
The Flash  Player download keeps failing with lost connection and then gives up.I am on a  satellite Internet connection.
It seems to be extremely slow even when loading the installer which is only 1MB. Then when I run the installer and it starts to download the installation there are frequent messages about losing the connection and then finally gives up.
I have had problems with other software failing when I am on a satellite link. This is most likely because of the huge latency which may be taken as a link failure. Ping times are typically 800ms but can be 2000ms sometimes!

Hello,
The online shim installer, which you are using actually downloads and installs Flash Player silently in the background.  If your satelite connection is experiencing latency issues it could result in the failure to download.  Please try the full installer posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows page, in the 'Still having problems' section.

    Hello,
The last really supported Flash for PPC was 10.1.102.64, but if it's for like Facebook or such, people have been fooling FB to think they have a leter version installed.

Might be later ones around also... saw 11.3 I think.
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, contributor Texas Mac Man suggests the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the latest version:)
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

  • Downloads keeps failing with "An Error has Occurred"

    Happy New Year All
New to the Apple Mac World having switched from Windows.  I've just bought a new Macbook Pro and when I go into the App store to purchase, the installations seem to be very temperamental.
I've been to install twitter, along with updating iWorks - with Numbers and Pages failing to install/update at the beginning.
I was finally managed to install pages, but uninstalling and then installing.
With numbers, it did install but kept saying I needed to update, so I did the same and uninstalled but now it just keeps telling me and error occurred please try again in the purchases page, but same problems occurs.  Each time I try  installing again, I notice that the download is always pulling a previous download from somewhere (cache??)  and seems to always fail at the last bit.
Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?  Ordered Mac Online and slight peeved that its not working... which is not what I would associate to Apple.

I believe I have found the issue.
Our portlets are being accessed over WSRP. Both consumer and producer portals are BEA 8.1 SP6. The problem was that the HTTPS call back to the producer timed out on the consumer so it was the consumer portal that hijacked the response to the producer request.
In the consumer's WEB-INF/wsrp-producer-registry.xml file, there is the element "connection-timeout-msecs". The default is 60000 ms. When I switched that to a larger time (say 999999 ms), I did not see the problem.

  • Flash player installation dies at 33% lost connection, cannot reconnect

    WinXP
    Tried through FF, IE, Chrome.
Tried uninstalling, clearing cache closing all browsers
Tried downloading direct install NPAPI link (still trying to download after 5ish minutes)
Every time I get same result; it downloads, starts installing then loses connection and can't reconnect.
    HELP!   please.

    Hello,
The shim installer (as denoted by the screenshots) downloads/installs Flash Player silently.  Network connection/latency issues can result in lost connection errors.  The full installers download the entire file upfront, and once launched do not perform any further downloads in the background.  If you're having network connection/latency issues, please try downloading the full installers, posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows page, in the 'Still having problems' section.

  • Flash player update keeps failing

I have been using flash player for years. A couple of days ago I started to get messages when I tried to play YouTube etc saying I needed to update FP.
I have tried updating many times and after each download/install it says it is successful and the latest version is running. But I still get the message saying it needs updating when I try to play YouTube etc.
I have tried everything on the Help pages - closing down antivirus- uninstalling - etc, but nothing works. When I check for successful installation I get no picture in the box so it's obviously not installed. What can I do?? (I seemed to get Chrome installed the first time I tried with FP.)

My computer is Compaq Presario CQ57.  CPU Intel Pentium B970 2.3 GHz. 64 bit OS.
Windows 7 Home Premium copyright 2009
    Internet Explorer 9  Version 9.0.8112.16421
I am trying to download Flash Player 11.7.700.169 64 bit MSIE.
When I try to play videos from Facebook I get the message: "FLASH PLAYER UPGRADE REQUIRED; YOU MUST DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THE LATEST VERSION OF ADOBE FLASH PLAYER TO VIEW THIS CONTENT" There is a button marked "GET FLASH PLAYER" which I click on to download.
After screen message says download and installation is complete, I get message: "FLASH PLAYER INSTALLATION SUCCESSFUL"
But I still get the same message regarding upgrade when I try to play from Facebook. No change.

  • Why does F.F tell me that the Flash Player download is not a trusted site and why when I look at system it tells me I'm using W.XP when its W.Vista/

I have been using I.E 8 with Yahoo and I updater to I.E 9 and it said that I was a trusted site and then I started having problems with Adobe Flash Player. I changed over to M.ff and now when I go to Mozilla Updates it downloads and then a warning pops up not a trusted site or Unidentified source. I have also noticed that my Toolbars change when I restart or new start my Desktop? I am using Frontier Secure and I get "Harmful Website Blocked" or other warnings that I never gotten before. Is there anyway that a Security Tech. can log in to my system like LogMeIn or another site to show me what is going on with my system? I have spent hours configuring my system and done everything to make it run right. Also I have Flash Player installed on my system but when I run something it tells me "Please install Flash Player? • Flash Player 10, strange problem with emdedded fonts and movieclips

Hello, developers! I have a big problem with font embedding
and I can not debug it myself. So I need you help.
I' ve done a simple list of attached movieclips with
textfields inside them, with embedded fonts. I have no problem with
flash player 9 in order to see the list, but in flash player 10 I
can't see it. The font is very common, Arial actually so you can
test it very easily. I am using a font symbol in the library, a
class and an xml file for my data.
Also you can see it online in (if you have flash player 10
    you can't see a thing)
    http://www.forestonfire.com//research/flash/fontproblem/index.html
I have compiled the file as an exe projector in order to see
it as I do in flash player 9
    http://www.forestonfire.com//research/flash/fontproblem/fontinflash9.zip
I have zipped also the source code in order to compile it
    yourself.
    http://www.forestonfire.com/research/flash/fontproblem/fontembedded.zip
and the same example without embedded fonts (I have the same
problem there so perchaps are not the fonts)
    http://www.forestonfire.com/research/flash/fontproblem/fontnotembed.zip
Please, check it and tell me if there is a solution
    available. Thank you in advance.

I've included also a much more simple example without the xml
and the font symbol, only the class and a movieclip from the
library, but I can't still see it on flash player 10
    http://www.forestonfire.com/research/flash/fontproblem/simplyfied.zip
I have no clue about this problem.

  • Adobe flash player only loads to the 50% mark and then has an error, this happens everytime. Any suggestions as to how I can load the player successfully?

Adobe flash player will not load

Download the Flash Player via this page: Troubleshoot Flash Player installation for Windows
    *http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_Download_and_install_the_latest_Flash_Player_version
    # Download and save the Flash installer for the Firefox browser to your desktop.
    # Exit Firefox (File > Exit), you may need to verify that in the Task Manager (XP: Ctrl+Alt+Del, Vista: Shift+Ctrl+ESC, Processes tab)
    # Start the Flash installer with a double-click on the desktop icon of the Flash installer.
    * You may have to run the Flash installer as Administrator (right-click: Run as ...) to get access rights for installing the files and modifying the registry.
    * On Vista and Windows 7 you run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue or nothing seems to happen.
    * Run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu (Run as Administrator) to get elevated permissions.

  • When I try to download Adobe Flash Player it keeps failing to initialize. Help please

I don,t know what else to say other than I have tried up to 20 times, I have tried to Google the problem and I am desperate. Thanks Tony

There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash; an '''ActiveX version''' for IE only and a '''Plugin version''' for most other browsers including Firefox. On a Windows system, you should always update both individually. '''''You do not have the Plugin version installed for Firefox.'''''
#'''Using Firefox''', go to the following direct download link and SAVE the download to your desktop so you can find it later: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
#When the download is finished, close Firefox (File > Exit '''''OR''''' Firefox button > Exit)
#Click or double-click on the file you just saved to your desktop
#*In the installation window that appears, click the box to the left of "I have read and...." to place a check mark in the box
#*The "Install" button in the lower right corner will now be highlighted, click it.
    #*The installation is quick.
#Start Firefox and test your installation here: https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
#Direct link ActiveX version for IE '''''only''''': http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe

  • I recently installed Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX--11.4.402.265 and when I open My Mozilla Firefox browser I keep getting this message flashing on my screen: '

I recently installed Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX--11.4.402.265 and when I open My Mozilla Firefox browser I keep getting this message flashing on my screen: 'Adobe Flash Player 11.4 r402 has stopped working" and then "Windows is checking for a solution"
This flashes a few times then usually stops but not always.
It happens every time I try to open a new page.
I fixed this problem by uninstalling Adobe Flash Player 11 and installing Adobe Flash Player 10.3. However, now my IE browser wants me to install Adobe Flash Player 11 again. Although I don't use my IE browser frequently, I DO have to use it sometimes. Will there be an update to Firefox 15.0 to correct this issue?

Thank you, your solution worked great.
