Flash player failed
while watching vids and having multiple views (vids) up the flash player plug in fails and shows a white screen with a "!" saying error need latest flash player installed to view content. I reinstall the flash player only to be told it is already installed and stops the installation. What do I do? Checked all the items listed on the help page for adobe, running windows 8, never had this with windows 7.
Could you verify that you are using the desktop version of IE? See the second post in this FAQ:
How do I install Flash Player on Windows 8?

Help. Flash player fails to update??
I am running Windows 7 64 bit computer. Update for Flash player failed at 65% with comment :- error failed to register-: how do I overcome this problem please
Dear Dominic
Brilliant reply. Simple English. Simple to follow instructions. And it worked immediately, first time.
Why couldn't the Apple and Adobe corporations get their programming right first time? We spend billions of UK pounds and US dollars with them. They reply with incompetent programming such as this, and arrogance to their customers in issuing faulty systems without doing the most rudimentary checks.
Anyway, I certainly shan't be buying another Apple as this is the most unreliable, most incomprehensible, most illogical and downright thoughtless shoddy piece of computer kit which I have ever owned. And all of it is rubbish ~ emails disappear, photos can't be organised properly, spreadsheets don't work, Pages is laborious… the list goes on and on...
But thanks to you Dominic, I have been able to load Adoble Flashj… maybe eyou should get a job at Apple, and set them all on the right course to how to work simply and correctly with customers.
Thanks again,

Installing Flash player fails AGAIN on Win 7
Recently I had discussed here a problem with installing Flash Player on 32-Bit Windows 7, which was solved by help in this forum.
Now I had a similar problem with 64-Bit Windows 7 with Flash Player for Mozilla. Installation just said that it failed, without giving further explanation.
Following the advice I got in http://forums.adobe.com/message/3919367#3919367, I downloaded an installer explicitly from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/.
This website redirected me to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/, from where I downloaded http://aihdownload.adobe.com/bin/install_flashplayer11x64_mssd_aih.exe.
Running this program went on for about 20 minutes, and finally resulted in the error message: "Installation encountered errors: Actionlist not found".
What else can I do to install flash player?
RonaldTrycie wrote:

That is not a direct download link; it's a download helper stub. In fact this is an old Flash Player link that is not even working any more. I have no idea why you would want to post this in a more than two years old topic... -
Flash player failed to install
OK so i've been trying to install flash player 9 for a long
time now. But every time i've tried it gives me a message : Flash
player 9 failed to install, for troubleshooting tips, go to
adobe.com/ something someting yadayada
I've done ALL the troubleshooting tips, and i'd really really
really like to be able to watch videos again
Please help me!!
Sincerely
KyleI found a solution that may help with the Flash Player
installation. I have Windows XP Home and Internet Explorer 7. I did
EVERYTHING tech support and other users suggested, but had no luck
on Internet Explorer. I followed the suggestion to download
Firefox, and then I was able to download and use Flash Player, but
it would only work with Firefox. It would not work with Explorer.
Coincidentally, in trying to open another unrelated
application, I was told that Windows could not open it and I chose
the option to use the Internet to search for a way to open it. It
prompted to download additional software, and one of the options
was a free version of a registry compression tool called "Stuffit".
After downloading and installing Stuffit, I once again followed
Adobe tech support's original instructions for Flash Player.
1. Make sure you are in Administrator Mode.
2. Make sure your Active X settings are correct.
3. Make sure your popup blocker is turned off.
4. Use the Flash Player uninstaller, making sure all
applications are closed, and all users are logged off.
5. Then download Flash Player 9 using a standalone installer
from the following:
http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14266
(Archived Adobe Flash Players available for testing purposes).
6. After downloading the installer, make sure all other
applications and windows are closed, then open the
“9r115”
folder and run the “flashplayer9r115_winax.exe”
file.
7. Afterwards, verify if the Flash Player installed
successfully by going to the version test page:
http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_15507
This finally worked for me after NOTHING else did. I hope it
helps you. -
SOLVED :Flash Player fails installing on Windows XP SP3 ,error 1007
Hi,
I would like to report a failing installation for FlashPlayer.
The good news is that using the offline installer ( also v 17.0.0.134 ) i have now the Flash Player installed and running :-)
However i will tell my experience for later readers - and hopefully the developper can fix it for future releases:
I download the file install_flashplayer17x32_mssd_aaa_aih ;executing
the file starts the installation process, but after about the 66%, installation fails, and then
a browser window with the following url is shown:
https://get.adobe.com/es/flashplayer/completion/aih/?exitcode=1007&re=0&type=install
The installation has been performed using an admin acount.
Also i've tried executing the reset_fp15.bat file without success.
Machine is a DELL LATITUDE D505
Problem is reproducible.
The installation log and versions used follows a few lines later.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Flash Player failed to register
I cannot update Flash Player, I have removed Flash Player and cannot reload. It fails to register (tried multiple times). I am the administrator. Now what?
Download the following files by right clicking and selecting "Save target as"
Flash Player Uninstaller
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Save ALL files to your Downloads folder - DO NOT RUN anything yet.
Reboot your system.
BEFORE opening anything else, go to your Downloads folder and run the UNINSTALLER to remove all instances of Flash Player.
Next, run the ActiveX Installer.
Lastly, run the Installer for other browsers.
Once Flash Player is installed go to: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/#sp
Download BOTH files, the one on the right FIRST by right clicking and selecting "Save target as"... the other by clicking and following the steps to dwonload the FULL ActiveX installer.
Once everything is installed, see:Enabling Flash Player in Internet Explorer and: ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer to make 100% sure that Flash Player is enabled and NOT being blocked by ActiveX controls. -

Adobe Flash Player failed to initalize error
Hello there - I'm so hoping someone can help me out. I am trying to download Adobe flash player and get an error message - "failed to initialize". I've tried deleting my old file and still no luck. I also tried to save it and then go to windows explorer to run the program but can't find it, even when I do a search. The funny thing is when I go into unintall programs, there's an incon for it. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone help me out? I would really love to watch videos on youtube. :-) I'm running windows vista and using windows explorer 9. Thanks so much! JodiJ.
Came across this problem a few times...
Did you try deleting the actual files from the install directory manually? I think they are located in c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash
Also came across this... maybe helpful...
I don't know what web browsers you use, so my instructions are for both browser types (Internet Explorer, and other browsers like Firefox).
go to http://forums.adobe.com/thread/889580
download the installer for Internet Explorer and save it to disk;
if you use other browsers, then also download the other installer and save it to disk;
close all browser windows, then use Windows Explorer to run the installers you downloaded (install_flash_player_10_active_x.exe and possibly install_flash_player_10.exe).
If you still get errors
please give the exact error message you are getting

Flash Player fails to update from Download Center
I have been trying, with no success, to install the latest version of Flash Player on my PC. When I am directed to the Download Center, it is a blank page, minus the header for Adobe Flash Player. This is extemely frustrating. My PC had operated just fine, allowing us to play all types of games on FaceBook, until sometime in February, when all of a sudden, error messages began appearing, games would no longer load and would sort of hang up showing perhaps a 31% loading message and just remain at that percentage. My fiance used to play WGT Golf game and Poker Stars, and now he cannot play those, as they, too, fail to load! I am frustrated beyond belief at this point in time. I do not understand how some games can still work on my PC, and others cannot. Please, someone help me figure out what is going on with the Flash Player on my PC! Thanks much, Lauretta Phillips

various web sites stated that I needed to update adobe flash player. I clicked on link and followed instructions, then received the message "installation encountered errors - failed to initialize". So far, I have uninstalled previous versions of flash player and checked my plug ins. Noticed that Shockwave flash does not appear in my plug in list and adobe states that this needs to be active for their flash player.
I am on Windows XP and Firefox version 8.
Thanks.

Flash Player fails to register on 3 PCs!
This is maddening... Here I am prompted in the past couple days to update Flash Player on my PCs however, the installation fails to register on 3 of them.
I am running Windows 7 64bit on all 3, IE8 on 2 and IE9 on 1. Same issue with all 3!
I have followed the installation support instructions, downloaded the Flash Uninstalled, downloaded the latest Flash version, re-installed and the same thing continues to happen.
How does one fix this? This is crazy!I don't understand; what happens when you try?
Here, I am just pasting the contents of my FlashInstall.log file...

Latest flash player fails to register!
I have been fighting this for days now, and it's keeping out of my university on-line classes. In use W7 64 OS + IE8 32. As of now, I must use IE8 32 for use on my on-line classes. Also W7 has all the recent updates per MS.
I noticed that IE8 does not have Flash Player installed, but I do have active scripts enabled in Internet Tools and other Security settings to medium or lower. When I attempt to install the latest Flash Player, I get a registry error and installation fails.
I have tried these steps + notes:
1. Un-installed Flash using Adobe's uninstall many times. Rebooted.
2. Reset IE8 including removing all add-ons. Re-opened IE8.
3. Un-installed Flash from FireFox 6 as a test.
4. I also have Chrome browser, but can not remove Flash Player from it since its integrated. I have IE8, Chrome and FireFox browsers on my W7 system.
5. May be important: Since I was then running IE9, I initally attempted to install Flash Player Beta 11, but had issues there also, but can't remember details. So, I then removed IE9 and defaulted to IE8 32.
6. I have read over several links on the Web concerning this, and nothing I've tried works, BUT, it seems to be a common issue with others.
It would be great if someone would help me thropugh this as its inmportant. If possible, I would be OK with a remote login.
Sincere thanks,
WilliamThank you for posting a complete description of your problem with all details; I wish more people would do that!
First I would like you to try the following:
download the installer from the link in this topic http://forums.adobe.com/thread/889580 and save it to disk;
close all browser windows, then right-click on the downloaded installer and run it As Administrator.
If you are still getting the 'failed to register' error, please follow the instructions in http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/494/cpsid_49419.html -
Dear Forum,
Here is my situation
- I have an iMAC G5 ( 6 years old) OS X 10.5.8
- About two weeks ago, I was on Facebook and could not open any of the youtube or otehr videos posted by members
- Message said " Flash Player upgrade required"
- So, I went to Flash download website but find out that for my system (Power PC 10.5.8) I have to go to the old archived download module
but there are a whole bunch 10.1, 10.9, 10.1.64, 10.1.xxx and so on.
- I tried downloading 10.1 Flash Player on my MAC but it bombs out every time during install....ie. around 50% compeltion it just says "Install Failed"
- To make matters worse, in the midst of this confusion, I accidentally 'uninstalled' the flash player that I originally had, so now, I cannot see any You Tube videos !!!!
- My only hope is to drag my computer to an Apple store and get their help.
- I do not have any kind of a Firewall, I have enabled 'Plug-ins' in my Safari Browser, .....the only security i have is my Wi-Fi is Password protected.
Any ideas please....I am going around in endless loops.

This problem is caused by the AV you have installed. Most security apps of this nature incorporate web shields, file shields and the like. It's the file scanner which is the biggest culprit since it springs into action as soon as you attempt to install an executable. This interferes with the installation leading to file corruption further down the line.
If you're running AVAST, right click the orange icon in systray and choose to disable all shields for one hour. Then proceed as follows:
Download the uninstaller from here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html Choose "Save" and save it somewhere you can find it again. Do not choose "Run". You'll need to uninstall it again because your current installation is corrupt.
Close the browser before you run the uninstaller. When it finishes, reboot.
Once the system reboots to the desktop, disable those file shields again.
Next, go to http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax_64bit.exe
Click "Run" when you see the prompt to install immediately.
Here are some examples of similar cases where this approach worked:
