Flash Player fails to register on 3 PCs!

This is maddening... Here I am prompted in the past couple days to update Flash Player on my PCs however, the installation fails to register on 3 of them.
I am running Windows 7 64bit on all 3, IE8 on 2 and IE9 on 1.  Same issue with all 3!
I have followed the installation support instructions, downloaded the Flash Uninstalled, downloaded the latest Flash version, re-installed and the same thing continues to happen.
How does one fix this?  This is crazy!

I don't understand; what happens when you try?
Here, I am just pasting the contents of my FlashInstall.log file...

  • Flash Player failed to register

I cannot update Flash Player,  I have removed Flash Player and cannot reload.  It fails to register (tried multiple times).  I am the administrator.  Now what?

Download the following files by right clicking and selecting "Save target as"
    Flash Player Uninstaller
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Save ALL files to your Downloads folder - DO NOT RUN anything yet.
    Reboot your system.
BEFORE opening anything else, go to your Downloads folder and run the UNINSTALLER to remove all instances of Flash Player.
    Next, run the ActiveX Installer.
Lastly, run the Installer for other browsers.
Once Flash Player is installed go to: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/#sp
Download BOTH files, the one on the right FIRST by right clicking and selecting "Save target as"... the other by clicking and following the steps to dwonload the FULL ActiveX installer.
Once everything is installed, see:Enabling Flash Player in Internet Explorer  and: ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer  to make 100% sure that Flash Player is enabled and NOT being blocked by ActiveX controls.

  • Latest flash player fails to register!

I have been fighting this for days now, and it's keeping out of my university on-line classes. In use W7 64 OS + IE8 32. As of now, I must use IE8 32 for use on my on-line classes. Also W7 has all the recent updates per MS.
I noticed that IE8 does not have Flash Player installed, but I do have active scripts enabled in Internet Tools and other Security settings to medium or lower. When I attempt to install the latest Flash Player, I get a registry error and installation fails.
I have tried these steps + notes:
    1. Un-installed Flash using Adobe's uninstall many times. Rebooted.
    2. Reset IE8 including removing all add-ons. Re-opened IE8.
    3. Un-installed Flash from FireFox 6 as a test.
    4. I also have Chrome browser, but can not remove Flash Player from it since its integrated. I have IE8, Chrome and FireFox browsers on my W7 system.
    5. May be important: Since I was then running IE9, I initally attempted to install Flash Player Beta 11, but had issues there also, but can't remember details. So, I then removed IE9 and defaulted to IE8 32.
    6. I have read over several links on the Web concerning this, and nothing I've tried works, BUT, it seems to be a common issue with others.
It would be great if someone would help me thropugh this as its inmportant. If possible, I would be OK with a remote login.
    Sincere thanks,
    William

Thank you for posting a complete description of your problem with all details; I wish more people would do that!
First I would like you to try the following:
    download the installer from the link in this topic http://forums.adobe.com/thread/889580 and save it to disk;
close all browser windows, then right-click on the downloaded installer and run it As Administrator.
If you are still getting the 'failed to register' error, please follow the instructions in http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/494/cpsid_49419.html

  • Flash player fails to register

I've been trying to get the update for flash player and it keeps saying
    Failed to register.
I've uninstalled it at add and remove programs and tried to re-install it but it says the same thing. After closing the little download box another one pops up soon after to download something else (Not sure what it's called) What am i supposed to do? Also i don't know too much about computers.

It seems that you have a problem with registry permissions.
One way of getting around that is to try the installation from and Administrator account.
The other way is to change the registry permissions, as outlined in this topic http://forums.adobe.com/thread/485281/ - but that is a rather complex process.

  • Why did you ignore my post about Flash Player failing to register its ActiveX Control?

Three days ago I submitted a precisely-worded description of a persistent installation problem:  Every time I attempt to download and install Flash Player V. 16 on my laptop running Windows Vista 64 bit and IE 9, the download completes successfully, but at the end of installation, a dialog box gives this message
    "ActiveX Control failed to register."
I presume that your installation software was unable to write something into the Windows Registry.  Other software has no trouble writing to my Windows Registry.  My anti-virus software is not blocking the Registry.
I expressly asked for an Adobe staff member to guide me on how to debug this failed installation.
All I got was zilch.  Your forum software assured me that my request was posted, but I have not seen it on the list of recent posts.  You made it disappear and did not respond to it.  Your company does not provide any other avenue for a distraught user to obtain technical support.  Your dismissive attitude toward your customers and user community is even more distressing than your bloated, malfunctioning software products.
Without Flash Player installed, my computer has been dead in the water for ten days.  I can't do my work.  If I am forced to write my own Flash emulator just to get my work done, then I won't need Adobe anymore.

    Hi Pramananda,
You're previous post wasn't ignored.  Assisting users on forums is not staffs primary responsibility and we try to assist users as our time allows, in between our responsibilities.  Creating multiple posts for the same issue also doesn't help as it simply forks the problem and results in responses to both, causing confusion.
Failure to register errors are normally caused by registry permissions issues,  not user permissions issues.  Please review the Flash Player | Windows registry permissions tech note as it addresses this issue.
    Maria
P.S.  I locked your other thread so that responses will only be posted to one location, eliminating forked responses and confusion.

  • Installation issue with flash player - failed to register activex

I am trying to install Flash Player 10 on a computer running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 32 bit.  Browser is Internet Explorer 7.  Every time I install, either thru the webpage or thru the exe installer, I get an error that the installer failed to register activex.  I tried the steps in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/461168, to no avail.  I also tried running the Flash Player uninstaller.  I am logged in as administrator and have made sure to give the command change user /install.  I was able to install with no issues on another server with the same versions of Windows and IE.  This system also has Adobe AIR and Reader 9.4 installed.  I also uninstalled Shockwave Player 11 and that didn't help.

Yes, I have.  I went thru the steps more than once in case.

  • Help. Flash player fails to update??

I am running Windows 7 64 bit computer. Update for Flash player failed at 65% with comment :- error failed to register-: how do I overcome this problem please

    Dear Dominic
Brilliant reply. Simple English. Simple to follow instructions. And it worked immediately, first time.
Why couldn't the Apple and Adobe corporations get their programming right first time? We spend billions of UK pounds and US dollars with them. They reply with incompetent programming such as this, and arrogance to their customers in issuing faulty systems without doing the most rudimentary checks.
Anyway, I certainly shan't be buying another Apple as this is the most unreliable, most incomprehensible, most illogical and downright thoughtless shoddy piece of computer kit which I have ever owned. And all of it is rubbish ~ emails disappear, photos can't be organised properly, spreadsheets don't work, Pages is laborious… the list goes on and on...
But thanks to you Dominic, I have been able to load Adoble Flashj… maybe eyou should get  a job at Apple, and set them all on the right course to how to work simply and correctly with customers.
    Thanks again,
    David

  • Flash player won't register when downloading.

My flash player disappeared. It was there yesterday, now it's not.
I tried to download, but it gets to the end, and it gives an error, and says it fails to register.
I had Norton do a remote to disable and try to redownload, but to no avail.
    I'm using windows 7 Professional.
    All help appreciated.
Also, I tried the active x issue to download, and still no go.

Try if the MSI installer works better: http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_ 14_active_x.msi

  • Installing Flash player fails AGAIN on Win 7

Recently I had discussed here a problem with installing Flash Player on 32-Bit Windows 7, which was solved by help in this forum.
Now I had a similar problem with 64-Bit Windows 7 with Flash Player for Mozilla. Installation just said that it failed, without giving further explanation.
Following the advice I got in http://forums.adobe.com/message/3919367#3919367, I downloaded an installer explicitly from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/.
This website redirected me to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/, from where I downloaded http://aihdownload.adobe.com/bin/install_flashplayer11x64_mssd_aih.exe.
Running this program went on for about 20 minutes, and finally resulted in the error message: "Installation encountered errors: Actionlist not found".
What else can I do to install flash player?
    Ronald

  • Flash Player fails to load on start-up

I recently upgraded to Flash Player 11.2.202.235 for my Win 7 64 bit system and have had nothing but problems since.  I can install Flash Player and it works fine, until I shut down or restart my system.  Once the system restarts, it is as if Flash Player is not loading.  I am using IE 9 and AOL 9.6 as web browsers and am getting the same result in both.  I down loaded google chrome with the flash player to see if that would make a difference, no luck. When I look for flash player, it is in my registered programs and I have a folder for it as well.  I have done the following things: tried downloading with anti-virus on and off, firewall on and off, pop-up-blocker on and off, downloaded through IE9 and through AOL, unistalled and reinstalled, Active X Filtering On and Off.  Nothing seems to work, if I restart the computer, Flash Player is not recognized by any program...even Abobe.  I have tried the troubleshooting forums, no luck there either.  Anyone have any ideas or encountered a similar problem?

Try a clean install as described in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315

  • Flash Player will not Register when Dowloaded

we are using IE 10, when we try to download the latest Flashplayer it seems to download ok but at the 68% mark when it tries to register it fails and give the error message - ERROR: Failed to Register.  We removed the old version so now we have no way of getting a Flash file to run. What do we need to do to get the current version to run.
We are running on Windows 7

Before running the reset_fp15.bat file  can you run through these instructions and send the flashreport.txt report to [email protected]
Download “SetACL (executable version)_2.zip” from: http://bit.ly/WEppuY
Extract the appropriate “SetACL.exe” from either the 64 bit or 32 bit folder and place it alongside the flash_report.bat file.
Download and extract the flash_report.zip attached to this post
Verify that the setacl.exe and flash_report.bat file are in the same folder
Right click flash_report.bat and select “Run as administrator” (run time should only be a few seconds)
Please post or email the flashreport.txt file that was created when the file was run

  • Flash player failed to install

OK so i've been trying to install flash player 9 for a long
time now. But every time i've tried it gives me a message : Flash
player 9 failed to install, for troubleshooting tips, go to
    adobe.com/ something someting yadayada
I've done ALL the troubleshooting tips, and i'd really really
really like to be able to watch videos again
    Please help me!!
    Sincerely
    Kyle

I found a solution that may help with the Flash Player
installation. I have Windows XP Home and Internet Explorer 7. I did
EVERYTHING tech support and other users suggested, but had no luck
on Internet Explorer. I followed the suggestion to download
Firefox, and then I was able to download and use Flash Player, but
it would only work with Firefox. It would not work with Explorer.
Coincidentally, in trying to open another unrelated
application, I was told that Windows could not open it and I chose
the option to use the Internet to search for a way to open it. It
prompted to download additional software, and one of the options
was a free version of a registry compression tool called "Stuffit".
After downloading and installing Stuffit, I once again followed
Adobe tech support's original instructions for Flash Player.
    1. Make sure you are in Administrator Mode.
    2. Make sure your Active X settings are correct.
    3. Make sure your popup blocker is turned off.
    4. Use the Flash Player uninstaller, making sure all
applications are closed, and all users are logged off.
    5. Then download Flash Player 9 using a standalone installer
    from the following:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14266
(Archived Adobe Flash Players available for testing purposes).
    6. After downloading the installer, make sure all other
applications and windows are closed, then open the
    “9r115”
    folder and run the “flashplayer9r115_winax.exe”
    file.
    7. Afterwards, verify if the Flash Player installed
successfully by going to the version test page:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_15507
This finally worked for me after NOTHING else did. I hope it
    helps you.

  • SOLVED :Flash Player fails installing on Windows XP SP3 ,error 1007

    Hi,
I would like to report a failing installation for FlashPlayer.
The good news is that using the offline installer ( also v 17.0.0.134 ) i have now the Flash Player installed and running :-)
However i will tell my experience for later readers - and hopefully the developper can fix it for future releases:
I download the file install_flashplayer17x32_mssd_aaa_aih ;executing
the file starts the installation process, but after about the 66%, installation fails, and then
a browser window with the following url is shown:
    https://get.adobe.com/es/flashplayer/completion/aih/?exitcode=1007&re=0&type=install
The installation has been performed using an admin acount.
Also i've tried executing the reset_fp15.bat file without success.
Machine is a DELL LATITUDE D505
    Problem is reproducible.
The installation log and versions used follows a few lines later.
Thanks in advance for your help!
