Flash Player Global Settings

We have published captivate files to allow users to use as a
training tool. When we launch the html file, we get the message to
go to the Settings and allow the network location to the global
settings in Flash Player. I would like to find a way to push out
this global settings to all the workstations so we do not have to
perform this task on 200 workstations. I tried to export the reg
key with the settings and ran it on another workstation, but that
did not solve the problem. My users will get frustrated and not use
the training tools if there are any glitches.

  • Can't change Flash Player global settings

    Hello,
I've had this problem about a year now and have been searching all over the internet for the solution. Ive seen it come up many times but it never fixes my problem, so I decided to just start a thread.
    I have:
    -Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    -Firefox 6.0 64-bit
    -Flash Player version 10,3,183,5
Anyways, im sure youve heard of this before where you cannot change the global settings to allow webcam, mic, data storage or click allow and so on - and I have tried many things to no avail. I assume it is some problem with Windows 7 restricting its access and i figured maybe an update could help but it has still been the same for a year. I have two computers both with the same exact problem and I have tried everything suggested for this problem: delete "flash player" folders out of appdata, reinstalling, etc. but nothing has worked. Its been like this for a year and I cant deal with it anymore, any flash video or game that requires flash to store local data typically shows up as a black box or doesn't let me save my game. Please help me, this is extremely irritating.

I didn't even know that there was a 64-bit version of Firefox 6 - where did you find it?
Anyway, Flash Player 10.x does not run on 64-bit browsers.  So, in that light, how do you attempt to change the Global Settings, from the Control Panel applet, or via http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/se ttings_manager.htm ?
Sorry - I dont really know what firefox came in besides the version and since my computer is 64-bit I asssumed the program was too.
Also sorry for the late reply, Ive been doing school things lately.
    Anyways,
Another question: if you delete the Flash Player folders from %appdata%, are they recreated after using Flash Player?
Now that I look at it, I believe so. I just checked my appdata and saw the flash player folders are there, but they are always empty. If there was a recent update it may of been that, but they are there again. Could that have something to do with it?

  • What camera resolution mode is used by the Flash Player camera settings manager

What camera resolution is used by the Flash Player camera settings manager? I am referring to the camera settings that you have to pull up by right-clicking on a Flash Player swf that is running, and from the right-click menu you hit settings...select the camera tab...and then you can hit the little camera icon and will show you the live video feed from the camera.
In order for the live feed to be displayed, Flash Player requests a camera resolution mode to the driver. What mode is being requested?
For example, could it be 160x120 @ 30fps?
    Or is it 176x144 @ 30fps?
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help04.html#117113

I have the same cam as you (it's apretty darn good cam IMHO).
I don't ever see any resolution request when I click the icon.
My cam initializes at 1920X1080, per the logitech specs. The box in the settings is 4:3, but the cam is running at 16:9, in apps like Skype, or FaceTime (Mac).
It shows the same setup screen in WIn XP, Vista, Win 7 and Win 8, which ALL share the same cam on my setup.
Being as the cam feed in the setup is 4:3, I'd have to say the resolution is 160:120  as opposed to 176:144 which would be a 5.3:3 or 16:9.

  • Flash Player IGNORES Settings?

I've set the global security settings on the Adobe site
(always allow external website links to open). The setting appears
to "stick" (i.e., it keeps the Always Allow value), but each time I
attempt to open an external link the same error message is
displayed ("Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe
    operation.").
This message appears in both Firefox v3.07 and IE v7.x (fully
patched). Anyone else seen this issue and if so, know how to
    resolve it?
    Russ Foszcz

I had the same problem with my X-Fi and its software upmix (useless in the case of flash player). Apparently, Adobe thinks that upmixing flash sound to match the system speaker configuration is the right way to go (ignoring the horrible results in the audio quality, like in the bass balancement and in the center speaker being too loud), and they are not going to change this behaviour soon.
However, i found a workaround in this old post ( http://forums.adobe.com/message/5352195 ): you need to add the line
    UseWAVPlayer=1
    to MMS.CFG , located in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash in 64bit windows.

  • Flash Player 10 Settings Problem

We're having a widespread problem. We cannot change any
settings in Flash Player 10. The player installs and runs fine, and
we can access the settings menu and global settings manager, but
changes never "stick", always reverting to their former settings.
We do not have this issue with Flash Player 9.
We are using IE6 on WinXP Pro (32 bit).
Has anyone else seen this with IE6 or does anyone have any
ideas what could cause this in Flash 10, but not 9?

just found something special. When we use Desktop redirection
with windows XP SP3, the desktop folder is deleted in the
    Userprofile.
When I take process monitor and get what happening with
flash, it keeps searching for the %userprofile%\desktop
If I create manually the folder in the userprofile, the
    settings of FP10 are saved.
we first realized this problem by browsing the website
    http://kuler.adobe.com
if you have no desktop folder, you can't log on the web site
and there is some problem on it.

  • Flash Player Security Settings per your D:/ drive...

    Hi,
For anyone who read my post earlier in the day, I apologize for the redundancy; this is a new issue for me.
I've been working on an e-learning product using Flash Builder; it was developed to be web-based, but the client has changed the requirement and now they have requested a stand-alone dvd drive-based deliverable.
The project consists of a Main.html(launched per autorun.inf), Main.swf(which loads into Main.html no problem from the disk), and multiple .flv files - so Main.swf loads into Main.html from D:\ , but none of the .flv's will load. However, once I trust D:\ per going to the [Flash Player Settings Manager>Trusted Location Settings>add my D:\ drive to the Trusted File or Folder Location], everything runs well.
    My questions are:
    Why is that an issue?
Is there a way around it?
    What am I doing wrong?
Since everything is fully contained and running locally from the  D:\ drive, why does the Flash Player need me to trust that device in order to run the content? I t seems completely counter-intuitive which leaves me boggled.
When I build a release, everything works perfectly locally(without trusting the C:\ drive(obviously)), once I burn the files to disk the external content won't load until trusting D, and what's even MORE, when I copy the content "burned to disk" locally, it won't play either until I trust the C:\ drive!!
Little help, please? I know I'm doing something wrong, but I can't find anything online.
    Thanks in advance,
    ~Chipleh

    Hi mocca,
Thanks again for your reply. You are giving me things to re-think about, I thought about all these options yesterday, but now that you mention them as the solutions, I will re-think with more gusto. A few things I'm still dwelling on:
    Why is that an issue?
Because the users system settings should always override anything that comes from a disk... Same with any programm on my computer, if somwhere from a network/external drive wants to open my browser without my consent, why should it?
Agreed. It should not. However, per the paradigm of my project on disk, the user launches the browser, the browser loads the swf, but the loading of all the other content is restricted. That seems counter-intuitive - since the user has already launched the main app, they obviously trust the app to run on their box, but they now have to go through an extra 'security layer' step in order to load the accompanying content.
As per publishing to Air, I tried yesterday and Flash Builder kicked all sorts of errors. I'll try publishing to air more today...
In the mindset of the great John Peterman: "Ah, the 'client changing requirements', where the client's expectations are high, the knowledge of the "level of effort" is low, and the process is terribly frustrating."
    Thx again,

  • Flash Player preference settings keep changing

Under System Preferences, my Flash Player settings keep changing every so often (every few weeks or so), in the Storage, Camera and Mic and Playback tabs.
I have all three tabs set to Block and the settings change to Allow or Ask me.
Why is this happening and what can I do to stop it?
Thanks in advance for any help.

This solved my problem partially, all I want is that Firefox keeps my Flash saves while I clear the history log.
Your way works too, now, instead of clearing the history log through the browser, I use CCleaner.

  • Flash Player Update Settings

    Hello,
In our department we always set Flash Player to never check for updates.
As admins we wanted to be in control of distributing Flash to avoid any potential issues.
There have been 3 Flash updates in the last 2 weeks so we have decided it is best to allow updates to be installed.
We do not want to go through 100 Macs and change the setting manually one computer at a time.
Can you assist me with how and which preference I can modify to distribute to all computers to change this setting?
    Thank you
    Stacey

    Hi Stacey,
The update settings are stored in the mms.cfg file.  On Mac this is located at /Library/Application Support/Macromedia/mms.cfg
There are a two different types of updates: Background Updates and Notification Updates:
For Background Updates, Flash Player checks for an update once per day (this interval is not adjustable), silently in the background, and if an update is found, it automatically installs the player, silently in the background.  No user interaction is required. The mms.cfg file settings for Background Updates are:
                        AutoUpdateDisable=0
                        SilentAutoUpdateEnable=1
For Notification Updates, Flash Player checks for an update, silently in the background once every 7 days (this interval is adjustable).  If an update is found, an Update Notification dialog window displays notifying the user that an update is available.  The user can either proceed with installation or dismiss the notification.  If dismissed, the process repeats itself again in 7 days. For Notification Updates, the user will be prompted to provide an Admin password to install Flash Player.  If your users do not have Admin permissions, or access to an Admin account, then Background Updates would be the better option.          Notification Updates:
                        AutoUpdateDisable=0
                        SilentAutoUpdateEnable=0
To modify the Notification Update check interval, add AutoUpdateInterval=# where # is the number of days between intervals (valid values are 0 - 30, where 0 checks every time Flash content is viewed, 1 is once per day, etc).
An alternative option is to host the Background Updates internally, in your server.  You would download the resource file containing the updates, in the required directory structure, post this to your internal server and add an additional entry to the mms.cfg file to use your internal server.  When hosting Background Updates internally, the Notification Update workflow is disabled.  You can obtain more information on hosting Background Updates internally on page 21 of the Adobe Flash Player Administration Guide for Flash Player | Adobe Developer Connection.

    New Features:
Safe Mode in Safari 6.1 and higher
Safari 6.1 includes an updated version of Safari with Safe Mode, which implements new security restrictions on the operation of browser plug-ins.  To the extent possible, we've adapted Flash Player to transparently handle these changes.  A small number of behaviors will change in the context of Safe Mode and are explained in the Known Issues section below.
    Mac .pkg Installation Support
Deploying Flash Player and keeping it up to date in enterprise environments is a critical task for system administrators worldwide. We’re introducing a new .pkg installer format for our distribution partners to reduce their workload.  Administrators can now deploy Flash Player for Mac using industry-standard management tools.

    Known Issues:
The following behaviors will be modified in Safari 6.1 and higher in Safe Mode:

Adobe Connect Plug-In Install - The Connect Plug-In Express Install will no longer work on Safari 7 in Safe Mode.  Users will instead see a dialog with a link to more details on an Adobe website.
Flash Player Global Settings - When a users launches the Global Settings menu from the Flash Player context menu on Safari 7 in Safe Mode, the user will be taken to the classic SWF-based preferences menu on an Adobe website, instead of the native Flash Player settings UI in the MacOS Control Panel.
LocalConnection - When a LocalConnection is constructed from a SWF hosted in Safe Mode, it may only establish a connection with other SWFs also hosted in Safe Mode.  If a LocalConnection is constructed from a tab with Safe Mode disabled, it will not be able to communicate with a SWF in a Safe Mode tab.
