Flash Player Help Check Fails

Win7ProSP1, 64Bit
Intel i5 CPU, [email protected] 3.3GHz, 4GB RAM installed.
Flash working fine until about a month ago.  Then started getting script errors and hangups and bogged down firefox.
Tried updating firefox and flash, cleaning computer, virus checks etc. Nothing worked.
Uninstalled Flash using Revo Uninstaller advanced mode.
Helpx test said that it was not installed.
Tried reinstalling Flash 15.0.0.189 using Adobe_Flash_Player_(Non_IE)_v15.0.0.189.exe
Installation completed OK.
Started Firefox 33.0.2 in Safe mode.
Went to helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html
"Check if flash player is installed on your computer"
Check Now click.
"Your Flash Version 15.0.0"
on my other computer where firefox is working properly it says "Your Flash Version 15.0.0.189"
"Verify if Flash Player is installed"  does not work.

Thank you Pat Willener  for your suggestion to set my Shockwave Flash add-on for Firefox to Always Activate.
I spent time doing a reinstall and Google searching over the last few days trying to figure out why I suddenly kept getting a prompt to "Activate Adobe Flash" whenever I visited a site with a video using Adobe Flash.
Little did I know it would be related to a setting for Shockwave Flash.
Problem solved.

flash player has been installed multiple time without errors but bbc news website and even flash player help say it isn't. How do i get out of this loop? - using windows 7 ultimate and latest IE11

I have had the same problem for WEEKS and I cannot access any sites that use Flash. Flash has been installed on this computer since I bought it in 2012. I have allowed auto updates but for weeks the updates never get past Step 2 - is this because I do NOT want the Google Tool bar? I use NO tool bars as there is only 6 inches of vertical screen space. Is this because I uncheck wanting Chrome as a default browser?  It is already installed, I just don't use it.  I came to this site and ran the check is it installed and the system says it is either not installed or not enabled. Version 14 just downloaded about 30 minutes ago - but did not progress to Step 3 although a pop up screen came up with a finish button, which I clicked. WHAT is the problem and how do I fix it?  If this were just a compatibility bug between IE11 and Adobe they have had plenty of time to fix it.

  • Flash player updater/checker didn't supported extended version?

    When posting, please provide your:
    Operating system version
    Web browser and version
    Flash Player version
A brief explanation of the problem including specific error messages and website URLs
my operating system version: windows 7 professional
my web browser and version: Firefox 27.0.1 (US English)
my flash player version: Extended Support Release - Flash Player 13.0.0.259
A brief explanation of the problem including specific error messages and website URLs: I download and install this flash player from Adobe Flash Player Distribution | Adobe while I thought adobe is still support this version as an option for a customer who prefered the old, stable version more than the new-fancy function and then I go to check that my flash is up-to-date or not (which i knew it is) by this url Flash Player Help and its said "Sorry, your computer does not have the latest Flash Player installed." and i'm sure its the same with the updater. So, the main adobe website didn't supported extended version anymore? then, don't provided them in the first place. Or fixed please.
    Thank you.

Hi C, thanks. Well, you were doing fine with XP/SP3 and IE7, until I saw Norton.:-) Sorry, Norton and McAfee are such a problem. Norton has so many components that need to be found and disabled when Installing Flash Player.
If you have a version number for them it would help and if a Firewall comes with it. If you upgraded then you probably have NIS 2010 and I think it comes with a Firewall.
With the beta installed and then Uninstalling/Installing, you probably have mixed Flash Player files. Following is what you need to do.
Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Adobe Uninstaller:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Adobe Installer for Internet Explorer:
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe
Go to Tools>Internet Options and click on the Security Tab and make sure the Internet Zone is set to Medium.
Check your system tray for any applications that may use Flash. Don't do anything yet, just know how to disable them when the time comes. Same thing with Norton. Do a right click and just see what components you see there that need to be disabled when needed to be done. I probably have all of them in a folder and will check for you. Also if you see where the Firewall can be disabled.
Now there is an add'l step needed for IE, which I'll tell you.
If you have any questions, just ask. Don't try Uninstalling/Installing until I give you the instructions. I am very detailed because I don't like to do things over. The better the prep work, the better chance for success the first time.
    Thanks,

  • Flash Player download keeps failing with lost connection and then gives up.  satellite Internet connection

    Win XP. Firefox 34.0.5 (latest)
The Flash  Player download keeps failing with lost connection and then gives up.I am on a  satellite Internet connection.
It seems to be extremely slow even when loading the installer which is only 1MB. Then when I run the installer and it starts to download the installation there are frequent messages about losing the connection and then finally gives up.
I have had problems with other software failing when I am on a satellite link. This is most likely because of the huge latency which may be taken as a link failure. Ping times are typically 800ms but can be 2000ms sometimes!

    Hello,
The online shim installer, which you are using actually downloads and installs Flash Player silently in the background.  If your satelite connection is experiencing latency issues it could result in the failure to download.  Please try the full installer posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows page, in the 'Still having problems' section.

  • Can't download free Adobe Flash Player - Help

I tried to download free Adobe Flash Player or Adobe Reader (is the same) and appears in the screen the following message:
"GetPlus+(R) The specified software requires a recent version of windows" and I can't proceed with instalation. I have already done a virus verification with Kasperky and it's OK. I have Windows XP (SP3) and Internet Explorer 7.
Thank you very much for your help!

Hi, Don't use that DLM(download manager) since it can cause a problem.
Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Uninstaller:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Installer for IE- use the EXE Installer
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
Close all browser windows, you only want to be looking at your Desktop.
Disable any messenger services, as yahoo, msn, etc in the system tray(area near the clock)
Disable any Realtime Anti-Virus until you have finished Uninstalling and Installing Flash Player
Be sure to use the Administrator Account.
Run the Uninstaller and when finished, Reboot(restart) your computer.
Check to make sure the Anti-Virus is still Disabled
Run the Installer for IE,  and when finished, Reboot.
    Re-enable your Anti-Virus
Then go to this test site and test each browser:
    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
You may want to print these instructions to make it easier to follow. If you have any questions, let me know.

  • I can't install Adobe Flash Player HELP!

I just got my MacBook Pro and I'm trying to install Adobe Flash Player but there seems to be a problem and I dont know what it is, it starts installing and it says it is fully installed but when I open youtube it says I need to download it. Does someone know whats wrong

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 5.
    Step 1
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, sign in to your YouTube account and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 2
If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then from the menu bar select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
    Step 3
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
    Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 4
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 5
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
    Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
    Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 6
    Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
    Step 7
In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.

  • Can't load Flash Player - - help!

I have been trying to download the new Flash Player. My system says it's download and it shows that it is downloaded but when I go to Youtube or a game site it says Plug-In failure. My computer is an iMac, system OSX10.9.2. It says that if I have antivirus turned on Flash Player will not load right. I've turned off every antivirus button I can find in my computer but it still wont work. Can you please help me? I use Firefox and Safari.

Another thing since you mentioned it...
YOU DON'T NEED ANTIVIRUS ON A MAC - under any circumstances.
OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it updated with software updates from Apple.
"But how do I protect myself against viruses? Don't Macs have Intel processors? Can't they get viruses?"
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "speed up", "clean up", "optimize", or "accelerate" your Mac. Without exception, they will do the opposite.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources. Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iTunes or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose. Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Disable Java in Safari > Preferences > Security.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
Block browser popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > and check "Block popup windows":
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but popups have devolved to become a common means to deliver targeted advertising that you probably do not want.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever see a popup indicating it detected registry errors, that your Mac is infected with some ick, or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. To date, most of these attempts have been pathetic and are easily recognized, but that is likely to change in the future as criminals become more clever.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.

  • Adobe Flash Player Help Please !!

    Greetings,
Here is the story.  I just bought a new iMac running 10.83.  The problem I'm having is that I cannot watch any of the news site videos because they all ask for Adobe Flash Player.  I have downloaded Adobe and am not getting any results.  The video starts to run, but then either stops and/or looses the sound. Examples of sites are loacal news, CNN and Weather Channel.  Nothing seems to work.
This has become really frustrated.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Just do not understand why I'm not able to get this up and going.
    Thanks,
    Ted

Two bugs, one affecting Apple's Mac platform and another attacking Microsoft's Windows, exploit certain Flash player vulnerabilities to install malware onto users' systems, reports ArsTechnica. While users of other operating systems like Linux have yet to report attacks, Adobe's advisory notes the exploit affects all platforms.
Designated as CVE-2013-0634, the first vulnerability targets the Safari and Firefox Web browsers running on OS X, and is also being used as a trojan to deploy Microsoft Word documents containing malware. For Mac users, the flaw affects Adobe Flash Player version 11.5.502.146 or earlier.
On March 1 Apple again blocked Flash Player for Lion and Mountain Lion:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5660
The Adobe Flash patch can be found on Adobe’s website, and users can visit this page to check if their software is the most curent version.
You should uninstall any previous version first, and repair permissions after installing the new version.
If you still get a ‘plug-ins blocked’ message:

  • Flash Player Help

I tried multiply times to download adobe from here Adobe - Install a different version of Adobe Flash Player & can't seem to get past the installer box being blank. I don't know how some people are getting it to download & having it stop at like 97%
I tried this suggestion Install the Flash plugin to view videos, animations and games | Firefox Help Adobe shows as available plug ins which is checked. I clicked next. It says no plug ins were installed.  & Adobe isn't available.
My mom knows i don't have any adobe on my computer & is now all upset b/c i had to reinstall it. she doesn't get that i had to uninstall an old version & reinstall it. She brought out this adobe cd (which i am 99% sure i didn't even use to put it on in the first place) & got mad b/c i didn't know where to go from there. i've never seen that page before. i told her i get adobe from somewhere else. like i'm not the only one having problems.
Please do not link me to the offline installer b/c that does not work.

    hello,
This error can be returned for a myriad of reasons.  Please try the following:
Delete all copies of the install_flash_player.exe file you've downloaded (completely delete them, including from the recycle bin).
    Clear the browser history
Try downloading the file again, if you encounter the error again, try using a different browser. If you are downloading the full/offline installer (the NPAPI installer file posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows page) the file size should be 17.2 MB.
If that doesn't work, there are a couple of troubleshooting steps in this Microsoft forum post, Windows 7 and .exe is not a valid win 32 application message - Microsoft Community, that you might try (Disk Cleanup and System File Checker).

  • Flash player update keeps failing

I have been using flash player for years. A couple of days ago I started to get messages when I tried to play YouTube etc saying I needed to update FP.
I have tried updating many times and after each download/install it says it is successful and the latest version is running. But I still get the message saying it needs updating when I try to play YouTube etc.
I have tried everything on the Help pages - closing down antivirus- uninstalling - etc, but nothing works. When I check for successful installation I get no picture in the box so it's obviously not installed. What can I do?? (I seemed to get Chrome installed the first time I tried with FP.)

My computer is Compaq Presario CQ57.  CPU Intel Pentium B970 2.3 GHz. 64 bit OS.
Windows 7 Home Premium copyright 2009
    Internet Explorer 9  Version 9.0.8112.16421
I am trying to download Flash Player 11.7.700.169 64 bit MSIE.
When I try to play videos from Facebook I get the message: "FLASH PLAYER UPGRADE REQUIRED; YOU MUST DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THE LATEST VERSION OF ADOBE FLASH PLAYER TO VIEW THIS CONTENT" There is a button marked "GET FLASH PLAYER" which I click on to download.
After screen message says download and installation is complete, I get message: "FLASH PLAYER INSTALLATION SUCCESSFUL"
But I still get the same message regarding upgrade when I try to play from Facebook. No change.

  • I'm a newbie that needs flash player help.

So I have a macbook pro, the 2.8ghz version. I am pretty new to the mac operating system however, I have a serious concern. Whenever I use my flash player like on youtube or netflix, my fans start going really fast and loud and my computer gets VERY hot. I know this is not normal, when I checked the activity monitor during a heat up it said the Cpu % for the flash player was at about 150! Please help, in simple terms tell me what i need to do to fix or manage the situation.

The only fix is to stop watching Flash videos and uninstalling Flash. Since I know you won't do that then what you can try is installing the current version of Flash - Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.235.

  • Flash Player 13 Installer fails at 55%

I have an i7 iMac, running OSX 10.9.2 and I can't get Flash player 13 to install.  It fails at 55% every time.  I've tried with nothing else running at all except finder.  I've downloaded it three times and still no love.  Adobe's "troubleshooting" site is nothing more than pictures of the install process, completely unhelpful in the event of a problem.  Anyone else have a similar issue?  I'm going to restart and see if that helps.

    From your linked article:
"Flash Player now attempts to use CPU instructions that are not available on a subset of supported Mac hardware from 2006 to 2007. "
Since, as I stated above, I have a 2012 iMac, I'm not affected by this bug.  Also, I'm not having "plugin failure" as that implies the plugin installed successfully and then failed during operation.
The problem I was having is that the installer program was failing the install process, giving no reason why, and Adobe's troubleshooting sites to which the installer links are abject garbage.
For the record, after a restart the installer completed successfully.  I have a feeling that there was a memory issue somewhere or a process that was running which it didn't like.
Still no reason to have such uninformative installer information, and such completely unhelpful troubleshooting pages though.
