Flash Player ignores my sound settings

With my Creative Xi-Fi Sound card software I have accurately configured how stereo sound has to be upmixed. This especially includes the crossover frequency and volume of my subwoofer. Unfortunately the Adobe Flash Player is the only software (I am currently using), which does completely ignore this and does its own 5.1 upmixing. Unfortunately this gives me way to much bass and makes youtube less entertaining (especially when watching music clips).
Why isn't there any option to disable this 5.1 upmix and let the user decide (system wide) how stereo sound has to be treated?
Best regards

I had the same problem with my X-Fi and its software upmix (useless in the case of flash player). Apparently, Adobe thinks that upmixing flash sound to match the system speaker configuration is the right way to go (ignoring the horrible results in the audio quality, like in the bass balancement and in the center speaker being too loud), and they are not going to change this behaviour soon.
However, i found a workaround in this old post ( http://forums.adobe.com/message/5352195 ): you need to add the line
UseWAVPlayer=1
to MMS.CFG , located in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash in 64bit windows.

After installing Flash Player, I lost sound on Youtube and other sites.  How do I fix it?  I still have sound on some apps.

To help troubleshoot we'll need the following system information:
    Operating   system
    Browser
    Flash   Player version
When reporting issues with video or audio, it's also helpful to get your system hardware and driver details.  Instructions for finding this information can be found here:
    Windows
    Mac
Finally, sometimes video and audio problems are caused at a lower level and not directly related to Flash Player.  I recommend trying both of the links below to see how they perform.  If the problem exists with both, then Flash Player is most likely not the culprit as the HTML5 video link does not use Flash Player when playing.  You can verify the use of HTML5 by right clicking the HTML5 video and looking for the words "About HTML5" at the bottom of the context menu.
    HTML5   video
    Non-HTML5 video

  • Flash Player IGNORES Settings?

I've set the global security settings on the Adobe site
(always allow external website links to open). The setting appears
to "stick" (i.e., it keeps the Always Allow value), but each time I
attempt to open an external link the same error message is
displayed ("Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe
    operation.").
This message appears in both Firefox v3.07 and IE v7.x (fully
patched). Anyone else seen this issue and if so, know how to
    resolve it?

  • Flash player overriding system sounds?

i've been having an issue with sound recently, involving the latest version of flash player. whenever it plays audio, any and all system sounds will not play. is it a sound card conflict of some sort? i doubt it, because it was working fine prior to this, but it has me dumbfounded more than anything else. my flash player version is 16.0.0.235, i'm running windows 7 64-bit, and my browser is firefox version 34. if you need any more information i'll provide it. can somebody please help me solve this?

I too have been having problems with this. I've yet to find the exact cause, but when certain Flash based web application require it, it will sometimes cut out.
For example, I always run into this when I'm playing online chess. It'll be fine for a bit, but after a couple of moves in, the sound will cut out, and not just for chess, not just for the browser, but for everything on my computer. If someone is currently playing sound, like a Skype call or a video, it'll keep playing oddly enough. However if I pause, skip, or do anything to reset said player, the sound will then go out on it.
On another site that I'm looking for answers for this problem, other users have experienced this issue when they're on Tumblr. They say that after starting a video or two on the site, the sound will go off. So I don't know if this problem is just started by certain type of flash applications, or if maybe it's ones that take higher memory.
There are two ways I might have to fix it. One way is if I go into my sound settings, and I alter something, and then am able to hit "apply" it'll sometimes kick it back to normal. If though I let the problem persist (such as playing chess for a long while without going to fix it) it'll not be fixable by this method because something goes wrong with the CODEC, and I'll have to do a full computer reset to get the sound going again. Putting things like headphones in does not fix the problem either.
I'm on an HP laptop, using Windows 7 64bit. I use Firefox as my browser of choice. Sound is run by an "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC." Flash is updated, and I've tried a full uninstall and reinstall to fix the problem. I've checked my sound card's drivers to see if those needed updating, but setting them to an older version or having them fully updated both don't help fix the issue.
So yeah, multiple people are having this problem, and a solution would be wonderful.

  • Flash Player 11.7 Sound Playback Bug

We've received reports that sound is cutting off from both video and audio content with some Flash content using Flash Player 11.7.700.169 (and 11.7.700.179).  I apologize to those effected by this bug.  We've been able to reproduce the issue internally and are currently investigating the cause and possible fixes and workarounds.  If you haven't already, please take a minute and let us know how this issue impacts you by leaving a short comment (or vote) on this bug report:
    https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3539635
Your feedback is important to us and we will continue to update the bug report as new information becomes available.
For those looking for an immediate fix, you can either update to our latest beta (4/30/2013 - Flash Player 11.7.700.197 Beta) or you can downgrading Flash Player to our latest 10.3 release.  The latest 10.3.183.75 build contains all of the recent security updates and should provide a stable platform for both audio and video.  Please see these two faqs for details.
How do I revert to a previous version of Flash Player?
Where can I find direct downloads of Flash Player 10.3 for Windows or Macintosh?
In addition, Google Chrome users will need to switch to the system version of Flash Player (NPAPI version) after installing the 10.3 release:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/enable-system-flash-player-goog le-chrome.html
The next official update, currently scheduled for release in mid May, will resolve this bug.
    Thanks,
    Chris

Hey Chris, thanks for all the keeping up with us and stuff.  I have an issue and i'm not sure if this was already discussed (if so sorry). Windows 8 IE 10 I'm getting an error tying to downgrade my customers to the beta.  The message i'm getting is
    The installation encountered errors:
Your Microsoft Explorer browser includes the latest version on the Adobe Flash Player built-in. Windows Update will inform you when new versions of Flash Player are available.
I have done my research and I cannot find how to fix this issue.  I have ran the uninstaller multiple times and restarted blah blah all the goodies.  It will not let me install the beta.
Please help..... any idea how to get beta running on hundreds of my customers machines?
The beta work's great it seems like and I wouldn't mind installing the beta on all their machines till the final release (which seems like a few weeks away)
    Thanks again, Tim

  • Flash Player 11.8 sound problem

Why  Flash Player from version 11.2  upmix stereo sound to all channels  will be this sometimes fixed or still need to use 11.2 version.

This change in behavior is related to our shift to the newer Windows CoreAudio subsystem.
The latest Flash Player 11.8 Beta includes an optional flag to revert to the older Windows WAVAudio subsystem, which should resolve the problem.
To change this behavior, you'll need to modify the MMS.CFG file with a text editor.  You can find the locations of mms.cfg for your system on the link below:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ActionScript/3.0_ProgrammingAS3/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118a9 b90204-7c95.html
Once you've located and opened MMS.CFG, you'll need to add the following line, then restart your browser:
    UseWAVPlayer=1
Please let me know how this works for you.
    Thanks!

  • Flash Player 8 global security settings

I'm having some trouble with the global security settings in
Flash Player 8. I have deployed the player successfully using GPO,
but now have a piece of software (Nelson Thornes) that requires
content from c:\program files\nelson thornes to be allowed in order
to run. Manually enabling this using the settings manager works a
treat, however it only changes it for the current user and I can't
find any way of setting it per station so that I can package it up
and deploy it. I can't expect all of my users to do this
    themselves.
Please tell me there's a way of doing this?!?!

There is an MMS.cfg file that you can deploy that will allow
    you to
control this site wide without individual user interaction
    (overriding
    settings manager).

  • Flash Player playing multiple sound feeds at once...even when browser is closed

I recently updated my Flash Player to 11.3 (most recent version). When I go to a site which utilizes Flash (e.g. YouTube), I will start the video, and then about 10 seconds later, I get multiple sound feeds at the same time. They all sound like commercials, or tv channels. Even when I close my browser, the sound continues. When I open my sound mixer, there is a "program" listed of "winrscmde" which is playing the various audio channels all at once. When I go into the task manager, "winrscmde" shows as a svchost.exe *32. When I stop that service the sound stops. It will start again when i access a flash site. When I uninstall Flash Player 11.3, this stops.
    I'm running Windows 7 - 64 bit with latest updates. IE 9.0.8112.16421
    Any help would be appreciated.

Well, I think I fixed the problem.
    I found this topic:
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic442928.html
About the second post down, the poster recommends downloading TDS killer as winrscmde.exe is disquised as svchhost.exe in the \windows\system32 folder (you have to click on "Properties", then "Details" tab and check the original filename...if it's bogus, it'll say winrscmde.exe as the original name).
I also ran the aswMBR program as well as FixTDSS (http://www.symantec.com/content/en/us/global/removal_tool/threat_writeups/FixTDSS.exe).
That seemed to fix the issue. Just reinstalled Flash and don't get the same issues. The svchost.exe in the \windows\system32 folder is legit!
Hope that helps anyone else with the same problem.

  • Flash player delivers no sound

I get sound with realplayer and windows media player. My speakers are plugged in and sound is not muted or turned down in any way. I get audio in all situations except when attempting to use Adobe flash player......even un-installed and re-installed. help please

  • Adobe Flash Player crashes whenever accessing settings

Your operating system & version: Windows 8.1
Your web browser(s) & version:  Mozilla Firefox 33.1.1
Your Flash Player version:  Shockwave Flash 15.0.0.223
Explain your problem in step-by-step detail if possible:  When accessing the settings of a flash-player window, by right-clicking on the window and selecting "settings," or by simply opening up a webpage that automatically requests access to webcam settings, adobe flash-player will invariably crash.  Sometimes, this crash does not happen immediately and I'm allowed to access some of the settings, and other times I'm not.   This seems to be coorelated with adobe flash player accesssing my webcam.
A direct link to a page that demonstrates the problem:  An example of a page that allow me to access some of the settings before crashing:  The Pituitary Gland: Anatomy, Circulation, Hormones, and More! - YouTube An example of a page that crashes upon accessing the settings at all Twitch and an example of a page that crashes simply upon loading due to requesting access to settings Omegle: Talk to strangers!

Firefox will hang if you try to open the right-click context menu on Flash Player in Windows 8.1.  It's a known issue.  It's unclear at the moment whether its our bug or Mozilla's.  The bug is assigned to a developer for investigation in the Flash Player 16 timeframe.  Firefox is killing the Flash process, which causes the crashed plug-in dialog to be displayed, but it's really a hang, and the player is terminated safely.
In the meantime, you'll need to use Chrome or Internet Explorer as workaround.

  • What is going on with Flash Player 9 and sound?

I'm getting really upset and fed up with this. No matter what
I do I can't get sound with the Adobe Flash Player 9. My computer
is working perfectly fine; there is nothing wrong with the sound on
any other program that I use. There is some glitch with the current
flash player that keeps me from playing any kind of sound. Either
tell me where to find a patch for the player or tell me how to fix
    it.

  • Flash player block the sound. [SOLVED]

    Hi !
I'm having a problem with Flash which is the kind of little annoyance that can quite quickly get on someone nerve. Here it is:
Every time a flash video is played, the flashplugin stop the sound from working anywhere else. What actually happens is that if I type "lsof /dev/dsp/" the output will be the process in which the flash video is, or has been played. The major problem is that even if I leave the page containing the flash video, as long as the process is active I won't be able to have any sound... So I have to kill the process.
This has been more tolerable lately since I switched to Chrome, since every tab is its own process I just have to close the bad tab, but that is still quite annoying.
I have absolutely no idea what can cause the flash plugin to act like that, I've searched over google and this forum and haven't been able to find anyone having the same problem... Am I the only one to experience that ?
On a seemingly unrelated subject, the sound in flash video is delayed by about one second, whereas it is good in any over case (amarok and VLC).
I am running arch 64, and am using the flashplugin that can be found in the extra repository of Arch:
    pacman -Qs flash
    local/flashplugin 10.0.42.34-1
        Adobe Flash Player
    local/libflashsupport 9.0.21.78-5
Macromedia flash plugin support lib (OSS SSL)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much for your help !

  • Flash Player - Newest version - sound

    Hey,
I'm wondering if they finally added the option to choose, what sound output I want (Stereo/mono/surround) or if there's some fix for it?

If that will not work also for you you can download and install it manualy here:

And browse through the page where it says:
If the ActiveX Control for Flash Player fails to install, download the

If the information above has not resolved the issue, download the executable
    Flash Player installer here:
.Download and unzip Install_Flash_Player_10_ActiveX.zip (Internet Explorer

.Download and unzip Install_Flash_Player_10_Plugin (All other Windows
