Flash Player in AOL Browser

Hi Adobe people,
Since I updated to Windows 8.1 can not open any  videos in my AOL browser. (9.6 Desktop)
Everything works fine, except anything that has to do with videos. They work fine in my XP computer. They worked fine in Windows 8. I copied a video link from AOL to IE in this same laptop, and it worked fine in it.
When I click a video, it starts to open. At the same time the home page opens behind the video page. When that happens, both pages start going back and forth producing the shacking that does not allow the video to show. If I click the homepage out, it goes off, but the video keeps going as if it was working, but still flashing back and forth until the whole video goes through in its entirety, albeit unseen.
While on the AOL browser, I was trying to open a sitting chart from a known venue . The page would open, but splashed right on the middle of the page was a big message covering all of the sitting chart. This message said, I needed to update my flash player. Where ever I go for help, I am told the same thing
I have the latest player version available. I checked what I have against the newest version available, and they are the same. Problem is that it that the version is for Windows 8 and I have Windows 8.1. I can not find any version for Windows 8.1 anywhere. I also looked at my Add Ons, and Shockwave Flash Object is there, and it is Enabled.
How can I get a Player version to work in my AOL Browser?
Thanks

Thanks Pat.
I never had to deal with this issue before, so I am not sure if AOL uses the Player's Activex or Plugin. I actually think that their Player works in collaboration with the one in IE. It looks to me that after I updated to Windows 8.1, the AOL software didn't change any thing to keep up with it..
I did do a manual download, though, after that site in AOL told me I had to.  Then I found out I wouldn't have had to, because it seems that IE 11 comes with the proper player version already installed. But the download I did was for Windows 8, I could not find one for Windows 8.1 anywhere, Could you tell me where to find one?
I am not sure, if I downloaded a Plugin or Activex. I really don't understand these things. I will have to look that up. If I decide to download again, should I first uninstall the Flash Player that is in my computer now?
I have thought about the 9.7 update, but I am waiting and see if I can resolve this without having to do that.
I use:
WINDOWS 8.1
IE 11
FLASH PLAYER 13.0.0.214 (this is for Windows 8, there is no Windows 8.1 on the lists of versions)
Thanks

  • Activation Flash Player with AVANT Browser

Hello, can you help me for this question, please  : I can't activate Flash Player with AVANT Browser.

Avant has a built in Flash blocker. You may have to disable it. Since it uses three different engines, you'll probably need to have BOTH plug-ins:
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
And I'd follow the steps for IE:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/885448

although I'm sure the steps will be different for enabling it in Avant.

  • Having issues with Adobe Flash player hanging the browser

Having issues with Adobe Flash player hanging the browser.
    WIN 7 enterprise 32 bit / Firefox 19.0.2 /
Internal company website keeps giving attached screen shot error, and hangs the browser when error pops up.
    Steps taken:
Uninstalled Adobe Flash player with the file “uninstall_flash_player.exe”
    Deleted provided directory in instructions
"Copy and paste the following and click OK.
    C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
Delete all the files in this folder."
Rebooted PC and reinstalled the flash player directly from “http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html”
Re launched company website and received same error.
Repeated above steps as well as uninstalled Firefox browser.  Even went so far as to remove all profile information to start fresh from all profiles on the laptop with the same results.
Note: The web page will work without the flash player plugin, and my page doesn’t hang the browser. Required to open page in FireFox per company policy.

I'm sorry you're encountering this.  Could you paste a few of the most recent report ID links displayed when you go to "about:crashes" in the Firefox address bar?
As for workarounds, the first thing I'd suggest is trying our 11.7 labs release which you can get here: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer.html
If that doesn't help, please try the troubleshooting steps outlined in this FAQ:
How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?
In particular, I'd recommend temporarily disabling protected mode (for troubleshooting purposes only) to see if that addresses the issue.

  • Flash player crashes my browser and WiFi connection!

Earlier this month, I had to perform a factory reset of my Dell laptop--erase the hard drive, reinstall the original Windows 8 OS, then re-update to Windows 8.1 and reinstall ALL my apps--because of a malware infection.  The computer would go to the BSOD ("blue screen of death") shortly after booting up.  The last thing I remember doing before this started?  Installing an update to Adobe Flash Player!  Even before this virus hit me, I was experiencing problems with my WiFi connection.  Webpages would suddenly stop loading, and it would only work again after I reset my connection, even though the router was in the next room.  I noticed (curiously enough) that I didn't seem to have this problem after I did the factory reset and reinstalled every app except for Adobe Flash.  The WiFi connection worked perfectly.  Then, on April 17, I visited a website (ESPN, I think), that needed Adobe Flash to play video.  So, with a good deal of trepidation, I went ahead and reinstalled Flash.  From that point on, I started having the same WiFi problem as before, only WORSE.  As soon as I started to stream video (and even sometimes audio), not only would the video stream suddenly stop playing or buffering, but I couldn't even refresh the page because my WiFi connection had to be reset!  So tonight, I uninstalled Flash Player, and voila, everything seems to be working perfectly again. From my experience, Flash Player is buggy, untrustworthy, and incompatible with the other software on my machine.  I'll be shopping soon for a competitor!

Some more info: My computer is a 64-bit Dell Inspiron 15 with a dual-core i3 processor; my favorite browser is Firefox, and I think I was running Flash 11.1 (it was a 32-bit Flash Player, so it might be I just need a 64-bit player, if that's available).  Let me know what you think...

  • Flash player and kaspersky browser add-ons

    Hallo,
I use Internet Explorer 9 (32 bit) on windows 7 (64 bit) with Adobe flash player (version 11,5,502,135 installed) and also the following kaspersky browser add-ons from software "kaspersky internet security 2013":
    Name Content Blocker Plugin
    Name Virtual Keyboard Plugin
    Name Safe Money Plugin
    Name URL Advisor Plugin
    Name Links untersuchen
Some time - once per month - I like to go to cinema and therefor I use cineplex online ticket booking system, which is based on adobe flash player. But ever I want to reserve online a cinema ticket, I got an error message in browser from some add-on, probable from flash player add-on "Shockwave Flash Object" by Adobe Systems Incorporated, and cannot use the web page to reserve a ticket in online ticket system of CINEPLEX: https://booking.cineplex.de/TicketBoxXNGFrontend/booking_ng.jsp?perf_i d=1E871000023VYZJHTG&site_id=31 The web page from booking.cineplex is since many years the same, but flash player is often updated and kaspersky lab add-ons are very young.
Could anybody confirm problems between flash player add-on and the kaspersky lab add-ons, because if I deactivate all kaspersky add-ons, there are no problems to use the webpage from CINEPLEX and their online ticket system based on flash player. Support of Kaspersky Lab denies any problems with their software regarding this issue, but I don't believe, that they had tested it with the booking.cineplex site.

    Hi Chris,
thank your for the hint. But this site is already on whitelist in all moduls of kaspersky. I assume the error comes not from possible blocking content of the web site, but from blocking something functions from flash player "Shockwave Flash Object" add-on, but I could not exactly determine this. Because this problem is difficulty to delimit, I use IE 9 only without Kaspersky add-ons, otherwise I get angry each time, if the access to cinema portal site does not work.
Perhaps someone else has an idea.

  • Flash Player Clashes and Browser Hang

Hi, I have been experiencing the following problem for the past few weeks.
My IE and Firefox hang after finished viewing video via Adobe Flash Player. I was prompted to send a crashed report and reload the page before the browser is responsive again.
I am using the updated browser and did try disabling hardware acceleration but problem unsolved.
Amazingly my Chrome browser is not being affected.
    Please help out, thanks.

I am a flash neophyte and I am struggling with a strange problem. I have numerous swf files which work except one that is rather complex. When I debug the FLA of this problem file in flash CS4, it works fine. When I publish the FLA and open the subsequent SWF in Flash, it works fine. I open the same file in Flash Player or when I open it on a browser, the screen is white and nothing happens. When a right click on the browser frame and it offers me all the possibilities of a fully loaded movie, except that there is just a blank screen

guess the flv would load after the code and play anyways. but
locally it would work because the flvs would load instantly.

    Hi,
Download and install ActiveX if you use Internet Explorer.
You need to install plug-in if you use Firefox, Opera, or Safari.

  • Adobe Flash Player 64 Bit Browser

    Look Here:
I just talked with adobe customer support,,,,they are working on 64 bit flash player,, Java has 64 bit browser support now,,,they have written that after flash player release 10.1 which is released, they are working on 64 flash player support and will release,,understand,, that not only do they have to revamp the code, they have to setup server time and bandwidth for probably 100 million downloads, this is a massive release,, thus,,,say something encouraging, while they get this done for us,,,further,, many companies are not even working on 64 bit support for browsers( not mozilla, though), all of the virus companies Microsoft, ect have no or little 64 bit browser add ons,, they need to get busy. Hooray for adobe 64 bit browser add on support, maybe adobe reader and shockwave player will be up next,,,
                                                                  Cheers
                                                                 3Fees

Further,,,,,,,,,,Adobe personnel has to besides set up server time and bandwith, they have to make a setup.exe file, zip file, digital certificates for the downloads for the adobe 64 bit flash player browsers add on( more than one browser) Firefox 4 has 64 bit browser and is being worked on, they also need to chat with  3rd party person to get permission, authorizations, ect as there software is copyrighted ,also,,,,,, a meeting of the minds so as to speak, and a legal document generated as to agreement,,,there is much more of course........Like beta testing, ect,, we do want it debugged and secure.Microsoft and others need to get supportive about this and get there end straightened out,, they get paid enough, if Microsoft needs help in this area,, I can point them in the right direction where code programmers are trained and chuse microsoft as employer, not oracle or the State of Washington.
                                                                     Cheers, Y'all

  • Possible to uninstall Flash Player for specific browser with Uninstaller program?

    Greetings,
I'm using a domain login script to deploy Flash Player across 400 or so PCs. Currently the script is set up to run the Flash Player Uninstaller executable prior to running the IE Flash Player Installer executable. The problem with this is that the Uninstaller seems to uninstall Flash Player versions regardless of browser type, whereas the installer is always for a particular browser.
Specifically, in our environment our supported browser is IE, but we allow users to run other browsers such as Firefox and Chrome (but they must apply security updates themselves). When we deploy a new login script to install the latest version of Flash Player, the typical user will be unaffected because they use only IE. However, users running Firefox will suddenly be unable to use flash after the Flash Player installer script is run.
So is it possible to use the Flash Player Uninstaller program to uninstall Flash Player for only a specific browser? Alternatively, will Flash Player uninstall cleanly (and the keyword is _cleanly_) if the installer is run without using the Uninstaller program?
Thank you in advance for your reply.

You may get a more official reply from Adobe here.
To the best of my knowledge your observation is correct: the uninstaller tool will always uninstall all installed versions (ActiveX 32-bit, ActiveX 64-bit, plugin 32-bit, plugin 64-bit).
From my experience, the uninstaller from Control Panel will uninstall cleanly - as long as no browser is running during the uninstall.  With cleanly I mean that no files are left behind; I have no knowledge if there are registry entries left behind (with the uninstaller tool, or with the Control Panel uninstaller).
For your specific problem: why don't you always install both the ActiveX and plugin for all users? The plugin is just a single dll that is added to the install folder (two, respectively, on 64-bit systems).

  • Flash Player locks up browser

I'm using Flash Player 11.1.102.55, Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit), ATI Video Card in a Lenovo Desktop.
I've tried Flash Player with IE9, Chrome, and firefox.
It will work when on Adobe's site (the flash player shown after install).
On other sites (like youtube, etc.) I get a green screen and it locks up the browser (no matter which browser).
I'm running the latest ATI driver, Latest Flash Player Version, latest Firmware on the PC.
I have hardware acceleration in flash player turned OFF.
Any ideas?  This is driving me nuts. I've googled and can really only find to turn off acceleration (which I've tried/done). No other video issues, just with flash.

    CCWTechUtah wrote:
I'm running the latest ATI driver
The latest driver from Microsoft Update, or from the AMD download site?  See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/945765
Green screen is usually an indication for some incompatibility with the graphics driver, although turning Hardware Acceleration off should prevent that from happening.

  • I can't finish installing flash player.  My browser is closed but it says its open

Programs keep saying that I don't have flash player installed, but when I check it, I have the most current version. When I try to download flash player, it only installs halfway and says to close my internet explorer, but I have already closed it.  Why am I getting all these errors and how do I fix it?

    What programs say that?

  • Distribution MSI for Adobe Flash Player for Plugin Browser

The MSI File provided for distributing Adobe Flash Player for Plugin based browsers (in this case Firefox) is not working when we test in our test environment.
It is working with the Windows XP Clients in the test group however it does not work with the Windows 7 Client Machines.  Firefox prompts for a manual download of the adobe flash software. After the manual install of the Software flash player is working but there is a new item in the program catalog. Adobe Flash Player Plugin it's size is 6.00MB. Comparatively the size that is installed by the MSI is 16.xxMB and it doesnt work.
    What I have tested
WSUS Install of MSI - Failed, Firefox prompts to install adobe flash
Client Install of MSI - Failed, Firefox prompts to install adobe flash
Intercept EXE from Temp Directory and then install after uninstalling MSI - Works
The problem appears to be in the MSI, like I said before it is working for the Windows XP Clients.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Anand,
If you have licensed Flash Player for distribution (which appears to be what you are doing), you should have received an email with the download links for the installers.  If you are distributing Flash Player without first licensing it for such, you must apply for a distribution license at Adobe Flash Player Distribution | Adobe.  Once you do this, you will receive an email with the links to download Flash Player.
Further information on licensing, and distributing Flash Player within your organization is available in the Adobe Flash Player Administration Guide for Flash Player | Adobe Developer Connection.
