Flash Player isn't visible on web page

After recently updating the Flash Player on my computer with the latest version, the player is no longer visible on many web pages; all that is visible is a blank white box. I've never had trouble with the player in the past. This problem seems restricted to the limited account since the player seems to work fine in the administrator account. I read the support page "Troubleshoot Flash Player Installation | Windows" at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html
The page http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ says the player is successfully installed and shows the version information in the little box.
With the browser closed and no other software open, I uninstalled the player twice using the uninstaller at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html After the first uninstall I downloaded the player with the Adobe Download Manager http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and after the second uninstall I downloaded the player with the manual installer http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html - EXE version. There were no download or installation errors.
I verified the browser security and ActiveX settings and they were fine. I tried turning off the pop-up blocker, but that had no effect. I checked the browser for the status of the Flash Player add-on (Shockwave Flash Object  - 10.1.102.64) and it was enabled. I tried turning off the antivirus software (ESET NODE32), but that had no effect.
The Global Storage Settings panel shows a check mark in the "Allow third-party Flash content to store data on your computer."

Operating system: Windows XP Professional SP3 (32 bit)
Web browser: Internet Explorer 8.0 (32 bit)
Flash Player: 10.1.102.64

This is an update to my original post. I uninstalled Flash Player 10.1.102.64 for the third time and downloaded and saved the previous version of Flash Player, 10.1.85.3, from here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html#main_Archived_versions I rebooted and ran the uninstaller a second time as per the readme.txt that came with the downloaded file which referenced this page http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402435.html I rebooted again and installed Flash Player 10.1.85.3 which is working just fine. So, good riddance to the latest version of Flash Player (10.1.102.64). I will not consider updating again until they release the next version after 10.1.102.64.

  • Flash movie isn't visible on the page

I've uploaded movies hundreds of times in windows xp and
never had a problem of the flash movie not being visible. Does
anyone know what I have to do differently in Mac than windows to
get the movie to show. In the meantime I'm back doing this with
Studio 2004 because it works through that program.

I use the publish command and have put the non showing movie
    here:
    http://www.instantpictures.net/index2222.html
I can see the code on the page and the file is on the server.
I don't know, so I've gone back to MX_2004 on my XP machine.
There is also a button that isn't showing up and I can see
    that code as well.
the movies are in the root so you can put in the code and see
    them on your browser
NewOrleans.swf is one of them. I'm now thinking it might be a
    dreamweaver problem.

  • Flash Player doesn't record on web pages like livemocha

Hello! I've tried to follow the troubleshootings that are already available for this problem but haven't been able to solve it. Flash player on webpages like livemocha (using Google Chrome or Firefox), it does in fact recognize my analog microphone (headphones with microphone) but the bar does not move up and down (as show on the picture below) the same happens in other webpages like vocaloid.com. Therefore it doesn't really record anything. I already tried unistalling and reinstalling flash player and it still doesn't work. I also saw in a forum that the newer versions of flashplayer do not work well with analog microphones and that I would have to buy a usb one, is that true?. I don't know what to do anymore and I'm really frustrated, please help me!

I also saw in a forum that the newer versions of flashplayer do not work well with analog microphones and that I would have to buy a usb one, is that true?
Probably is... More and more soundcards are no longer working with analog mics as well. They don't have the CODECs for them that older cards had. Welcome to the digital age.

  • Flash Player 11 update has killed Flash for me in all browser/ web pages

Hi, I updated Flash player when prompted
    Version: 11.9.900.117
Now no matter what browser all Flash media fails - most commonly (like on this very page at the top) I get the "Could not load Shockwave Flash"
I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Shockwave Flash player and I guess the regular Flash player. I have updated Java. In Chrome I have done the whole enable/ disable rigmarole in every permutation. In Firefox I have tried to fix the pluginn using their internal troubleshoot which says it failed.
    What's the deal?
    Windows 7

@ktulu - Unfortunately, not all problems are the same (as you noted with the different solutions not working for you.)
I run Chrome as my primary browser and haven't encountered any problems on Windows 7 and 8.  We don't have any current widespread critical Chrome issues that I'm aware of.
Typically, you don't see Flash failing on all browsers, especially if you've tried Chrome, IE and Firefox.  These all use a different technology (PPAPI, ActiveX, and NPAPI) so it's usually something else (virus/security software, etc) if all are failing.
In Chrome, can you navigate to the "about:flash" page and copy/paste the results in a forum reply?
It might also be helpful to get a screenshot of what you're seeing.

  • Placing Flash Video in Specific Location on Web Page

    Hi-
Basic (I think) question here regarding Flash video on a web
page created with DW8. I am trying to figure out how to have
several thumbnail images on the right hand side of the page link in
such a way that when they are clicked they will play the
corresponding Flash video file in a player window on the left hand
side of the page (something like a YouTube page layout). It seems
like it should be simple enough to link the thumbnail images to the
videos and then have the videos play in the player at a preset
location on the page, however, I'll be darned if I can find
anything on the Adobe site, tutorials, or the Web in general that
addresses just how to do this. Maybe I'm just putting in the wrong
search terms. Anyway, if you have any suggestions, tips or
tutorials you can recommend I would surely appreciate it.
    -=SB

    hi,
You can video on image click using the simple javascript.
the script can be like this:
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/JavaScript">
    function playVideo(val){
    document.getElementById('
    divLayer').innerHTML=
    '<OBJECT
    classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"\n'+
    ' codebase="
    http://macromedia.com/cabs/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0"\n'+
    ' ID=flaMovie WIDTH=320 HEIGHT=240>\n'+
    ' <PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="te.swf">\n'+
    ' <PARAM NAME=FlashVars VALUE="url=' + val+'">\n'+
    ' <PARAM NAME=quality VALUE=high>\n'+
    ' <EMBED src="te.swf" FlashVars="url=' + val+'"\n'+
    ' WIDTH=320 HEIGHT=240 \n'+
    ' TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash">\n'+
    ' </EMBED>\n'+
    '</OBJECT>\n';
    </script>
    where
divLayer is div layer insdie the body.
And, for image click the function can be assigned like this
    <a href="javascript:playVideo(
    flvName.flv' )"> <img
    src="some.jpg"></a><br/>
In the flash video player(te.swf in this case) you need to
    declare a variable called
    url
and assign the video contentPath to url.
I hope this works for you..

  • Flash Player won't display on site page...

We are trying to put just a flash video and  player on a site. No web pages just a demo video for a client. We created a blank HTML index page and insert the FLV into it. Select progressive download and resized it. The FLV is located on the local hard drive of the PC. We can preview and play the FLV in Dreamweaver, but as soon as we upload the script folder and the other files written the FLV doesn't show up on the page. The page name shows up in the browser tab, and if we click different spots on the page you can see a shaded outline where the player should.. but no player. This appears to be a simple process but not working for us... We are overlooking something. Any hints would be greatly appreciated. Here are the files generated and uploaded:

  • Some flash content (like flash player settings) not visible

    Hello,
I am running the newest versions of Flash Player in both FireFox 3.6 and IE8 on Windows XP Pro.
I can see most Flash things (like this page: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ which in both browsers says "You have version 10,0,45,2 installed").  Several things do not appear.  For instance, none of the Settings Panel windows show up.  Also, some Facebook apps do not work (i.e. Pet Society) while others by the same vendor (i.e. Crazy Planets) work fine.
Both browsers behave the same.  I cannot see the settings windows in either one.
I have run the uninstaller, and re-installed Flash several times.
I'll be grateful for whatever help can be provided.
    J

I actually tried an older version of 10, but yes, I went back to the current version.
The only Java is Java 6 update 18, I ran the Java update and it confirms that I'm current.  Adobe DLM and GetPlus are already gone.

Could we concentrate on getting it running in IE?  I never use IE and am willing to do any necessary experiements on it.  It's more difficult to type up all my Firefox extensions and plugins (no easy copy & paste), and I would rather leave my otherwise fully functional Firefox installation alone.  If not, maybe there's a plugin that dumps info about all the plugins into a text file.

  • I have Google Chrome, but my flash player isn't working, what should I do?

Whenever I try to download it, I am unable to as well.  I have the most up to date version of Flash Player because I have Chrome, but it simply isn't working.

On June 16, a new update for Adobe Flashplayer (add-on) appeared. The update could be installed (Win 7/64 SP1, IE 11.0.9600.17126), but made it impossible to watch websites requirering Flash - pages will be blank, videos will not play (blank). Current Flash player version seems to be 14.0.0.125.
When I start IE, even without any default initial webpage, messages pop up, saying something like "This webpage wants to run the following add-on: '<add-on name' from '<supplier>'. ..." There are a variety of <add-on names>, for instance 'Adobe Flashruntime' from 'Adobe Systems Incorporated', and 'MSXML 3.0 SP11' from 'Microsoft Corporation'. The MSXML 3.0 SP11 is something, that should not be enabled, as it indicates the webpage refers to an old version of the XML editor software, instead of using the latest available in the computer. Enabling any of these required add-ons will have no observable effect - the popups continue to appear and many webpages remain non-viewable.
I cannot find any way to restore a previous version as a temporary solution. Attempted downloading and installing Adobe Flash player from their site, but that only turned the situation worse, resulting in an unknown Internet search tool (speedial something) being installed, that shortcutted Google, rendering it non-usable. I had to deinstall Adobe flash player and that non-wanted search tool (which wasn't easy), before resetting IE (Internet Explorer). The Adobe flash problem did not go away. There is no easily available method to contact Adobe about this problem.
I also have an instance of Opera installed, which is not affected by this flash player problem, as is not Google Chrome. Google Chrome however, normally never used, prompts to install Mcafee and other software.
    Plausible demands on Adobe:
    1.  There should be an easy method to restore the previous version of the software, in case of a failure or when post-install problems occur.
    2.  Make it possible to report a problem. In installation cannot be regarded as successful, unless it also works properly as seen by the user. Like Microsoft, you can collect the necessary technical details to understand the possible cause of many problems, after an analysis.
    3.  The current way of opting-out additional software options is dubious and prone to mistakes. Instead, present all options in an array, where tick marks are to be used to select or deselect them. For instance, installing Mcafee or any other anti-virus software will seriously affect the functioning of existing firewall or anti-malware software application instances.
    4.  Make no automatic changes to browsers, without informing the user.
    5.  Do NOT remove downloaded updates from hard drive upon installation, at least never, when I choose to first download, then to install.

  • Auto-checking if Flash player is installed and loading other page if not

    Hi,
can someone tell me if it's possible and if yes what the
    script is and
where to put it in order to:
have the browser check upon loading page X to see if the
user's computer has Flash player installed. If answer is "no", then
browser loads page Y instead of page X.
    Thanks
    Peter

You can detect the Flash player (and version) with javascript
and redirect or change the visibility of DOM objects based on the
    detection results.
I believe that SWFObject has this functionality built in by
    default:
    http://code.google.com/p/swfobject/
Dreamweaver also has a pre-built behavior to do this.
Behaviors panel: click the plus button and select "Check Plugin",
select "Flash" from the drop-down list at the top and fill in the 2
    URLs. Presto!

  • I have a problem with FF 4.0b8 and Adobe Flash player where portions of the YouTube page or FF window will black out when I move my curser over buttons or tabs, etc. Any suggestions?

I'm running FF 4 Beta 8 with the latest Flash player (10.1.102.64). When I play YouTube videos, the video is loaded, starts, and plays okay, but when I move my cursor around within the Firefox window, portions of the window black out under where the cursor travels. FF tabs and buttons will black out, or parts of the YouTube page (but not the video). CTL-ALT-Del to bring up Windows Security Panel, then CANCEL will restore the Firefox window, plus the YouTube page correctly (ie black is gone and window has been redrawn correctly). I can open up new tabs and replicate the problem multiple times. I've also experienced this problem with embedded YouTube videos (though it's easiest to replicate the problem direct from the YouTube page.) I don't experience this problem at all with FF 4 Beta 8 in Safe Mode, nor the latest FF 3.x.x. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the Flash plug-in. Anyone have any ideas?

Problem involving videos played from the YouTube site is much less noticeable after upgrading from FF 4.0b8 to 4.0b9, but still occurs with embedded YouTube videos, where blacking out of other portions of the window still happens.

  • Flash player won't play on home pages

My flash player won't play on my browser's home pages.  My OS is : windows 7 64 bit ultimate and my browsers are :  Mozilla,Chrome, and IE.  I have owned this machine since laborday 2012 and all of them worked in the begining.  This has been going on for a couple of weeks and I would like to resolve it.  Video works normally in places such as youtube, but will not run on the browsers home pages.  The strange part of it is that it will run the advertisements, but after that is done it will just set there with the loading icon going for awhile until a message come on that states that the stream could not be found.  I just got done checking each browser to see if the players are up to date and they all where current..  Don't know what else to try.  Any suggestions ?  Thanks

  • Programs like VIMEO say that adobe flash player isn't installed but it is isntalled

several videos try to play but say you have to install adobe flash player but I Have it installed in firefox. I look at the apps and its there and not disabled.

There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash:
*an '''ActiveX version''' for IE only
*a '''Plugin version''' for most other browsers including Firefox
*On a Windows system, you should always update both individually.
'''''You do not appear to have the Plugin version for Firefox installed. ''''' If you did, in Add-ons > Plugins you would see "Shockwave Flash ''(version)''". If "Shockwave Flash" is there and is disabled, click the "Enable" button.
Check your Plugins often --> http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
*only the most popular/used Plugins are known by this page
*page will detect only installed, '''''enabled''''' Plugins
    '''<u>Install or update Adobe Flash</u>'''<br />
#'''<u>Using Firefox</u>''', go to the following link and SAVE the download to your desktop so you can find it later. Un-check any items on that page that you do not want to download (i.e., "McAfee Security Scan Plus":
#When the download is finished, close Firefox (File > Exit '''''OR''''' Firefox button > Exit)
#Click or double-click on the file you just saved to your desktop
#*In the installation window that appears, click the box to the left of "I have read and...." to place a check mark in the box
#*The "Install" button in the lower right corner will now be highlighted, click it.
    #*The installation is quick.
#Start Firefox and test your installation here: https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
#To update/install the ActiveX version for IE '''''only''''', repeat the process, '''<u>but use IE to go to the above website</u>'''.
'''If this reply solves your problem, please click "Solved It" next to this reply when <u>signed-in</u> to the forum.'''
Not related to your question, but...
You may need to update some plug-ins. Check your plug-ins and update as necessary:
