Flash player issues in modern mode of windows 8

My flash player will not work in the modern mode of Windows 8, but will work in the desktop mode.  I've checked the status of the player on the Adobe website in both modes.  It shows the player is installed and working correctly in the desktop mode, while in the modern mode it states it has been disabled which is not correct. I also can't change the settings for the automatic updates.  I really don't understand what's going on since it was working fine 24 hrs ago. does anyone know what's going on and what I should next.  I use IE 10 as my browser.

"User-Agent Strings"
That may not mean a lot, I'm sure, but it's the root of your problems, and Flash Player has nothing to do with it.
Microsoft "rewrote" the User-Agent Strings for the abomination they call their latest and greatest browser. User-Agent Strings are what websites use to identify the browser you're using and provide the proper content for it's browser engine, like ActiveX stuff, and Flash or HTML5 video. Thanks to the geniuses in Redmond, WA, the User-Agent Strings for IE11 (which has a Trident engine), ID it as either "Gecko" (Firefox) or "Webkit" (Chrome). Problem is: when the site the directs to the content for one of these two engines, the Trident engine in IE can't intepret it and the site then sees IE as an "unidentified" browser.
The problem with an unidentified browser is that the plug-ins in that browser aren't recognized either, so even though you're up to date, it says you need the latest Flash Player when you use IE11. YouTube... has converted to HTML5 video so if it doesn't detect Flash Player, it can display HTML5 (MP4) video which requires no plug-in to play. Facebook can't do that, because HTML5 doesn't apply to games... only video.
Microsoft has no plans to "fix" the mess they've created because they think it's a great idea to block you out of the websites you visit.
They recommend using "Compatibility View" and pretending that you're using an older verison of IE... Problem with that is that it's seen limited success, and you have to enable it for EVERY page that has problems... individually.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
Firefox (from Mozilla)
Opera (from Opera)
Safari (from Apple)
Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • Flash Player Issue with Windows 8.1 Professional

    Hi guys,
I'm currently having issues with Flash Player on Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 8.1. It seems that the Flash Player has been disabled when I access http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-issues-windows-8.html.
However, when I logged off the my domain account and use my local account, I'm able to test Flash Player.
Therefore, the only thing I can think of is the Group Policy that is blocking the Flash Player as I've resetted IE settings on my domain account.
Hopefully you guys are able to solve this mystery.
    Thanks!!

Go to control panel and go to program and features and uninstall existing adobe player
and adobe flash player activex both....
Then select windows 8 and flash player  from here http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
    Install and check..

In fact, it works correctly on some sites, like youtube, but not on some others like :
http://www.dailymotion.com/ => black screen instead of videos, right click gives flash context menu
http://www.canalplus.fr/ => videos does not load, right click gives flash context menu
http://www.myspace.com/ => no audio player, right click gives flash context menu
some games in http://www.kongregate.com/ => black screen instead of games, right click gives flash context menu
I have no problem with shockwave in http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/
No problem too with flash player on http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
But in the Global Privacy Settings panel (http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager02.htm l), I cannot change any settings :
    I cannot check boxes,
    My changes are not saved.
In most of flash animations, videos, ...,
when I click on parameters, I cannot do anything, even closing.
when I am in full screen mode, the message "press escape to exit...." does not disappear.
Last thing, all those problems was not there when I was on Windows XP, few weeks ago, and appear with my registered Windows 7 premium familly edition, with the same hardware configuration...
    Thank you for your help

  • Flash Player issues with BBC Weather Map

I am using Flash Player 16.0.0.235 on Windows 7 via Internet Explorer 32-bit
I keep losing the information on the BBC Weather Maps.
The maps load but then freeze before the weather information is displayed.  The bar shows it is trying to load but nothing happens.
I have tested & Adobe Flash Player is working correctly on my laptop.
Tried shutting down & rebooting but no change.
    Any ideas?

I believe I had a similar issue as well. I'd check Adobe's website for an updated version of Flash. If that still doesn't fix it, it's likely because Flash actually does not yet support Lion (or at least not the last time I looked).

  • Installing Flash Player Issues

I have a Windows 8 Operating Sysytem and I use IE version 8. I have downloaded the latest flash player numerous times and it continues not to work. So can someone please help me install it?????? Thanks in advance

If you have Windows 8, you CANNOT use IE 8, because Windows 8 comes with IE 10 preinstalled and it WON'T accept a lower version.
In addition, Flash Player for IE in Windows 8 is modified and embedded by Microsoft. It's "their baby" so to speak. It can ONLY be updated through Windows Update (in your Control Panel under System and Security).
Microsoft released a "Tuesday patch" November 12 to update Flash Player for IE10 and IE11 in Windows 8 and 8.1.
If you run the update and still have problems, see: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-issues-windows-8.html for more steps to take.

  • Would flash player issues cahnge desktop icons?

I'm starting a seperate discussion on this issue as it is truly different than my other postings
    I use Vista Home premium
I have many icons on my desk top, mostly shortcuts to program. Yesterday I had to reboot several times when trying to update to ne flash player.
Then upon one reboot, I noticed that some, just like 3, Icons changed.
    Example
icon for the shortcut to itunes looked like the icon picture for the game dinerdash
icon for shortcut to the game Bakerydash looked like the icon for spider solitaire
now when I would right click on these shortcuts, they would show the proper data for the shortcut they truely were Whe I would right click on the icon and then select change icon, the only option there was the actual correct icon. I'd hit apply, but it did not good.
I ran virus/spyware scans and all were clean.
Could it be because of flash player issues? or because  I had rebooted several times in a row and did not allow the system to fully reboot before trying the next reboot??
Like I would reboot and then 7 minutes later reboot again. Could that cause the icons to screw up a little?

I don't know what changed the desktop icons, but it is one of these things that just happen sometimes.
Windows XP had a great tool, TweakUI (from Windows Power Toys), that has a 'Repair Icons' function.  Microsoft never released a TweakUI version for Vista, but I know that a 3rd-party version of TweakUI for Vista can be found on the Internet (Google will find it for you).
I would try to use this to repair your desktop icons.
P.S. since this TweakUI is not a Microsoft tool, I recommend to make a System Restore point before running it; just in case...

  • Probable correlation to the recent Flash Player issues - RealTek On-board Sound

After struggling for weeks with the last 2 revs of Flash Player (and the current beta version from labs.adobe.com) crashing/locking up my machine, I decided to put some time in tonight to try and isolate the issue, if possible.  After some segmentation ultimately leading to my disabling the On-Board sound in the BIOS, I've experienced no crashes.
An early clue that I figured was a random event at the time was that my sound channels would effectively stop working for any program when the Flash Player crashed.  Turns out that was the key bread crumb.   As I followed some of the other advice given here with regard to Settings (Global Settings had no effect at any time), I at first passed over the microphone tab of Settings.   I'd have saved myself about 3hrs and 25 reboots if I had clicked on it immediately.  Clicking on the Mic settings, for me, immediately locked up the Flash Player, Firefox (6.0.2), and Windows Explorer (not IE as I don't use it and don't even have the Active-X version of FP installed), necessitating a reboot to re-enable sound.  For the record, as others have indicated, Google Chrome also showed the same issue.
I've tried a wide range of audio drivers also trying to find a version that works, but each driver version from the Windows 7 native all the way to the latest version from the MB manufacturer, ASUS (Audio_Realtek_ALC269_SM_Win7_64_Z6016438), only small changes in the manifestation of the crashing occured.
Unfortunately, I don't have a pre-10,3,183,7 FP version although I'm sure the version before this latest one had the same problems.
I'm pretty confident of these findings and I hope this is useful in debugging the Flash issue, quickly.

  • Is Flash Player 11 just not compatible with Windows Vista 64 bit?

When I installed the latest version of Flash, I lost the ability to view You Tube videos for more than the first 3 or 4 seconds. Today I went to the adobe site thinking I needed a new flash player, and got this message:
Note:Flash Player does not support 64-bit versions of Windows XP and Vista. Flash Player 11 now includes support for Windows 7 64-bit.
Seriously? So I have to scrap my computer or get Windows 7 in order to use Flash?
I am not a techy, so I have resisted coming to the forums and getting a response I don't know what to do with. If you have an answer for this, I would really REALLY appreciate it if you can translate it into language for the lay person.
It isn't just You Tube videos, either. So many news and other items are now done in video instead of an article, and I am finding that I am not able to get information I am looking for because of this.
    Please help!

What this means is the following: the 64-bit version of Flash Player will install fine on Vista 64-bit, but Adobe will not provide support if it does not work as expected.
In fact, Adobe will not provide any support for any Flash Player on any platform, except here in this forum.
    I suggest that you
uninstall your current Flash Player using the uninstaller from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
install the 64-bit Flash Player with the offline installer(s) from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#Ins tall_in_a_firewall_proxy_server_environment
    Good luck!

  • Is there a solution or work around for flash player issues?

Is there a solution, app or work around for flash player issues w/ iPad 2? Maybe even something in development?

Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter and Puffin 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store, so you could try checking there for your sites (and there is the built-in YouTube app). But flash itself is unlikely to ever be supported on the iPad : http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/ , and Adobe have failed to create a version of flash that works on iOS
