Flash player issues with system recognizing it's installed - all versions

I am running a Vista 64-bit computer.I seem to have had lots of trouble with Adobe Flash Player being recognized by various sites (and have the same issues with other computers running both XP and Windows 7). I've downloaded, I've clicked install, it shows in the computer but the sites keep asking me to download. I downloaded 11 recently, which didn't help and later found out that it doesn't support Vista 64 bit, even though I've had Vista 64 bit for 3 1/2 years! Anyway, I uninstalled 11 and found a download for 10 and put it back to that but it still doesn't help. For example, I was looking at patterns on michaels.com and I got the message to install Flash.
Again, I have FP 10 installed (now) and would like to know if there are additional steps to take in order to get sites to recognize it is installed. Additionally, I am curious as to the short-sitedness of Adobe NOT to provide Flash Player for 64 bit Vista machines. Because Microsoft charges crazy amounts to upgrade OS, it is unlikely that I'll upgrade to Win 7 anytime soon. And since the product (Vista x64) has been around for many years, why is it treated as though it doesn't exist?

Exactly same issue here.

  • Flash Player Issue with Windows 8.1 Professional

    Hi guys,
I'm currently having issues with Flash Player on Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 8.1. It seems that the Flash Player has been disabled when I access http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-issues-windows-8.html.
However, when I logged off the my domain account and use my local account, I'm able to test Flash Player.
Therefore, the only thing I can think of is the Group Policy that is blocking the Flash Player as I've resetted IE settings on my domain account.
Hopefully you guys are able to solve this mystery.
    Thanks!!

Go to control panel and go to program and features and uninstall existing adobe player
and adobe flash player activex both....
Then select windows 8 and flash player  from here http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
    Install and check..

  • Newest Version of Flash Player Issues With Firefox 12.0

Firefox just updated today to its newest version 12.0. After updating, every website was running slow or freezing. I eventually discovered that the culprit was the Adobe Flash Player Plugin. Disabling the plugin returned things to normal. I would like to still use the flash plug in, but have not found a way to enable it without all websites freezing. I am using a Windows 7 64-bit operating system. I have tired uninstalling and reinstalling the flash player and I have double checked that I am using the newest version of Flash Player. I have cleared the Flash Player cache, tried disabling the hardware acceleration option, and restarted my computer inbetween several times. I am offically at a loss for what to do? Please help me.

In your  opinion, should I uninstall Firefox if I am installing Waterfox?
Waterfox can coexist peacefully with Waterfox.  I have both installed, but never use Firefox any more.
Not only can Waterfox run in 64-bit address space, it also is better optimized during compile time than Firefox.  (For obvious reasons; Firefox is compatible with many old systems, Waterfox only needs to be compatible with new 64-bit systems.)
P.S. regarding Chris' advice above; Firefox and Waterfox use the same profile, so if that is actually the problem, then it will occur in both browsers.

  • Flash Player Issues with Lion

Has anyone else had issues with flash player after downloading Lion? for some reason after i got lion and i go to facebook to take a picture with my webcam or if i go to a video chat website it pops up the screen that asks to allow the website to connect to the webcam but it is not clickable. i have only had this problem after i got lion does anyone know how to fix this or if it is a problem with my laptop not the program.

I believe I had a similar issue as well. I'd check Adobe's website for an updated version of Flash. If that still doesn't fix it, it's likely because Flash actually does not yet support Lion (or at least not the last time I looked).

  • Flash Player issues with BBC Weather Map

I am using Flash Player 16.0.0.235 on Windows 7 via Internet Explorer 32-bit
I keep losing the information on the BBC Weather Maps.
The maps load but then freeze before the weather information is displayed.  The bar shows it is trying to load but nothing happens.
I have tested & Adobe Flash Player is working correctly on my laptop.
Tried shutting down & rebooting but no change.
    Any ideas?

  • Flash Player issues with Windows 8 / IE 10

I cant get this to work and I've tried every link. Even going to the download flashplayer site, it comes up blank. It says it's already installed but i have several sites that I cannot get onto and asks me to update flash player. I've enabled the Add On, I've fixed the security, I've hit every link, update, that is suggested on here and google. It's still not working. Any help would be very appreciated!

Specifically abcmouse.com and candy crush on facebook.
When I click on the Flash Player Version - none of the boxes show I have flash player capabilities (all blank).
And that second link....that's my problem, when I click on that one it says Flash Player is embedded into Windows 8 and I cannot manually install. Yet, the video on that same link says I do not have Flash Player, and click this link to install. When I click the link to install, I get the Adobe page, and no info. Blank page (see attached picture).

  • Can't download flash player - 'Disk image not recognized'

    MAC OS X
    10.6.8
2,4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
I'm trying to download and install the lastest adobe flash player but having a little problem. It downloads without any problem but when I come to double click it it comes up with the following warning/error message.
The following disk images couldn't be opened. Reason - Not Recognized
I have no idea why this has suddenly come up.
I've complete uninstalled Adobe flash player and tried to reinstall it but it still hasn't worked.
I've also tried to open the 'install_flash_player_osx.dmg' file in Disk Utility but it says its 'Unable to attach'. One thing I have noticed is that the Disk write status is - Not mounted, read only
I'm not sure what this means. If someone could help me out I would appricate it very much.

Not certain what other issue may be the cause of the symptom(s) you've stated above, but there is a link to try & get an Adobe flash player plugin for Snow Leopard 10.6.8 through this page. Also note the comments by users there who relate experience, and an apparent link to a recent beta version(?)
    https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/4783/adobe-flash-player
While other system maintenance may need to be done for the computer to see any update correctly, there also is a chance the file may not be the proper one. Several exist at the Adobe site, some are not compatible.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Installing Flash Player Issues

I have a Windows 8 Operating Sysytem and I use IE version 8. I have downloaded the latest flash player numerous times and it continues not to work. So can someone please help me install it?????? Thanks in advance

If you have Windows 8, you CANNOT use IE 8, because Windows 8 comes with IE 10 preinstalled and it WON'T accept a lower version.
In addition, Flash Player for IE in Windows 8 is modified and embedded by Microsoft. It's "their baby" so to speak. It can ONLY be updated through Windows Update (in your Control Panel under System and Security).
Microsoft released a "Tuesday patch" November 12 to update Flash Player for IE10 and IE11 in Windows 8 and 8.1.
If you run the update and still have problems, see: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-issues-windows-8.html for more steps to take.

  • X Pro and Flash Player Error with web-based PDF readbook

Everytime I try to view a web-based PDF book (with multiple PDF files) I get an error/alert that reads:
"To View the Flash technology content in this PDF file, please install this version of Flash Player that supports Adobe Reader and Acrobat."
    I am currently using:
    IE Explorer 9.0.8112.16421
    Adobe Reader X 10.1.7
    Adobe Acrobat X Pro 10.1.4
    Shockwave 12.0.2 Development
I have all of the appropriate settings enabled/disabled in the browser. Before I installed Adobe Acrobat Pro the files opened perfectly in IE9. I believe, but am unsure, that I was just using Reader X at that point.
Of note...the PDF books in question still open perfectly if I DOWNLOAD the file and open it from the desktop. The issue is when I try to view it in the browser(a setting enabled in the preferences). This is an issue because I don't have the time or space to download these files and need to view them in the browser for efficiency.

You would usually get this message if you don't have the Flash Player plugin installed.  However I do not quite understand why you get that message when viewing a PDF in the browser, but not when viewing it from your local disk.

  • Flash Player 10 processor system requirement discrepancy

http://www.ehow.com/info_8526453_flash-player-10-system-requirements.html says that Flash Player 10 on Windows computers requires "a Pentium 4 processor running at 2.33 GHz or an Athalon 64 2800+ processor."
    However, http://www.downloadatoz.com/essentialware/adobe-flash-player/what-is-system-requirement-of -adobe-flash-player-10_g.html says:
"System Requirements of Adobe Flash Player 10:
    • Windows 2000, XP(SP2 and above), Windows Server, Windows Vista., Macintosh OS X, Linux
    • Intel Pentium 450MHz, AMD Athlon 600MHz processor (for Windows);...(for Mac)"
My question is: which of those two articles is correct as to what Adobe published as the Pentium processor system requirement for Flash Player 10?
I see that this question was previously asked on this forum but was never answered, and that the processor system requirement for Flash Player 10 is no longer on Adobe.com

Flash Player 10 is no longer supported and hasn't been for more than two years. Adobe no longer maintains a listing of system requirements for it since they do not recommend using it on any system that is connected to the Internet, because there are numerous security vulnerabilities with 10 (which have been addressed in newer releases, like 11, 12 & 13).
I've spent hours trying to find any of the old documentation for versions like 9, 10, or 11, and they simply don't exist. Wikipedia (taken with a grain of salty, naturally) shows that Flash Player 11 was the first version to make a Pentium processor a minimum requirement, but even that doesn't specify a P4.
Either way, unless you have an extremely old, and extremely slow computer, (ie: single core, less than 1gHz, less than 512mb RAM) Flash Player 10 should install and run, but again, it isn't recommended, as it leaves you vulnerable to attackers.

  • Flash Player integrated with Windows 8 has stopped working...can't seem to upgrade to newer version Flash Player ?

One day watched videos with no problem.  Next day, can't watch videos!  Site says I need Flash 10.0 or higher.  When I try to check what version I have, it says that Flash player is integrated with Windows 8, no need to install Flash Player.  I am thinking that there are newer versions of Flash Player than what is integrated with Windows 8, but it's like I'm going around in circles, can't seem to upgrade to a newer version.

First, confirm that ActiveX Filtering is configured to allow Flash content:
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968
Internet Explorer 11 introduces a number of changes both to how the browser identifies itself to remote web servers, and to how it processes JavaScript intended to target behaviors specific to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by modern versions of IE.
You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11
If that is too inconvenient, using Google Chrome may be a preferable alternative.

  • Would flash player issues cahnge desktop icons?

I'm starting a seperate discussion on this issue as it is truly different than my other postings
    I use Vista Home premium
I have many icons on my desk top, mostly shortcuts to program. Yesterday I had to reboot several times when trying to update to ne flash player.
Then upon one reboot, I noticed that some, just like 3, Icons changed.
    Example
icon for the shortcut to itunes looked like the icon picture for the game dinerdash
icon for shortcut to the game Bakerydash looked like the icon for spider solitaire
now when I would right click on these shortcuts, they would show the proper data for the shortcut they truely were Whe I would right click on the icon and then select change icon, the only option there was the actual correct icon. I'd hit apply, but it did not good.
I ran virus/spyware scans and all were clean.
Could it be because of flash player issues? or because  I had rebooted several times in a row and did not allow the system to fully reboot before trying the next reboot??
Like I would reboot and then 7 minutes later reboot again. Could that cause the icons to screw up a little?

I don't know what changed the desktop icons, but it is one of these things that just happen sometimes.
Windows XP had a great tool, TweakUI (from Windows Power Toys), that has a 'Repair Icons' function.  Microsoft never released a TweakUI version for Vista, but I know that a 3rd-party version of TweakUI for Vista can be found on the Internet (Google will find it for you).
I would try to use this to repair your desktop icons.
P.S. since this TweakUI is not a Microsoft tool, I recommend to make a System Restore point before running it; just in case...

  • After a tryout with AdBlock, the videos on Facebook, on BBC and on some others websites stopped working and there's always a message asking me to install the latest version of the Flash Player. Even though it's already installed. How can I fix that?

After a tryout with AdBlock, the videos on Facebook, on BBC and on some others websites stopped working and there's always a message asking me to install the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player. Even though it's already installed the situation remains the same since the last month.
Can I fix that just doing the upgrade for the Yosemite?

Well, after hours of trying to figure it out I gave up and un-installed and re-installed that last verion of Adobe Flash Player and now it seems I can play games again in Messenger. Everything else had been fine just that. I can only figure it was because it was having a hard time updating the first time and took me 3 tries. So even though it said it was installed, apparently it wasn't done correctly.
Though when I couldn't figure out what was wrong at first I looked and checked to see all the things were enabled that were supposed to be and they were.
I even tried to go to the Adobe site and download the last version I had and couldn't find it. Kept coming up with the new version. Others said if you download a particular older version it may not have all the security features in it.
This really gets to be a bit much, especially when you're by yourself and have only a smattering of knowledge of technical things.
Thanks fore responding to my question.
