Flash player keeps crashing

Since a couple of months I've been having serious problems with flash player. Must be version 11. something.
I know there's been posts about this, but would like to try get a fix for my specific situation before I start trying 101 different ones aimed for other users.
Basically there's 2 games I play online, Forge of Empires and Goalunited, both flash games. I'm happily playing around when after 15 mins or sometimes sooner flashplayer crashes. (get the blank page with the grey exclamation mark in the centre). Usually I just refresh and it works again for another 10 minutes. Other times it says it can't detect flash player on my system, which means I have to reinstall it, which is a major pain, because I have to close all windows, MSN etc or it won't install.
I'm using Windows 7, Internet explorer 9. Tried using Chrome and Firefox, but it does the same there, so it's not about the browser. Uninstalled and reinstalled it, no fix. It also happens on Youtube and imagine on any flash based game/site I'd use.
Frankly, I'm sick of it so I'm asking you for help. I've been using flash player for many many years without a problem, ever, but lately is it doing my head in with all the random crashes.
Let me know what information you need and I will provide it so we can look at what the problem is.
Thanks

Getting the Out of Memory icon is the result of one of two things: 1.) you're running out of system memory (RAM), or 2.) you're running out of GPU texture memory.
I would first run the game in a single window with nothing else running on the system and see if that improves the situation for you.  Each browser window or tab that's open consumes resources.  Most browsers have also added hardware graphics acceleration to speed up HTML rendering over the last year.  This means that there's new contention for the GPU resources on your system.
To get around the GPU memory limitation (if that's what you're hitting), you might try disabling hardware acceleration.  (Right click on some Flash content, choose Settings, click the left-most tab and uncheck Use Hardware Acceleration)  This will impact performance on on graphics and video tasks that currently leverage hardware acceleration, but may get you around the memory limitation you're bumping into.  It's the easiest way to figure out whether or not that's what you're running into.
There are some third-party anti-malware/anti-virus/firewall applications that multiple people have referenced on the forums as causing general memory leaks on their system.  You might consider temporarily disabling or uninstalling those kinds of applications as well, as you may see improvement there.
It's also very possible that this is just an issue with the game(s).  If you create a whole bunch of objects during gameplay and you don't release them, we won't garbage collect them because we think they're actively being used.  Over time, the memory usage is just going to grow until it hits the upper limit.

  • Adobe Flash Player keeps crashing in Google Chrome

I am using Google Chrome and every time I open the browser Adobe Flash Player keeps crashing.  I have Windows 7.  Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

    Hello,
Just chiming in to say that I am experiencing the same issues.
    using Win 7, Firefox 19.0, Flash 11.6.602.168
    Tried the DRM fix,
Tried uninstalling Firefox and Flash, restarting Win 7, reinstalling Firefox and Flash
Tried reinstalling display and my NVidia drivers.
Still getting "Sorry we were unable to stream this video" message.
    Also having problems on Chrome.
Some troubleshooting threads suggest to go to chrome://plugins and disable the chrome flash player.
When i disable the chrome flash player and try to play an amazon instant video, I get the "Sorry we were unable to stream this video" message.
When i disable the system flash player and try to play an amazon instant video, the video plays but 'stutters.'  The audio is fine, but the video alternately pauses and plays for a second or two over and over again.
AIV works just fine on my iPad.
For everyone viewing, please take 30 secs to create an account and let Adobe know that their product is causing problems for your Amazon service.
This needs to get fixed asap!
    Thanks
    V.

Download the following files by right clicking the links and selecting "Save target as" (IE) or "Save Link as"(Firefox).
    Flash Player Uninstaller
    Shockwave Player Uninstaller
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)

Hey! My flash player keeps crashing whenever I open any kind of website with any flash contend. Videos won't load, moving advertisements, all that stuff. Its also not just Firefox, videos don't work in IE or Chrome. I'm completely updated on all the plugins as well. Thanks for any help you may have!

IE uses a different version of Flash (ActiveX version) than Firefox and Chrome use (the Plugin version). You might want to try the Adobe Flash forums for help with those Flash problems. <br />

  • My adobe flash player keeps crashing. Why?

I use Mozilla Firefox exclusively as my browser. When I am connected to Facebook and playing their casino games, the Adobe Flash player keeps randomly crashing. When it crashes, it locks up the computer and I have to shut down and reopen the browser. Recently, an information box has been opening up in the upper left corner of the screen called the Adobe Flash Player action box or something like that. The context is filled with lots of computer jargon I don't understand. At the bottom of the box there are 2 options to pick from, either dismiss or continue. Most of the time the screen freezes up before I've had the chance to pick one. After I go to the Windows task manager and shut down the boxes that were open, I get the normal gray "Adobe Flash Player has crashed" screen. The really odd thing is that there is no prompt allowing me to send a crash report to Mozilla. I have uninstalled and completely reinstalled the latest version of Mozilla Firefox. Just in case these might be a problem, I have the following 3 "add-ons" loaded in to the browser: Quick Time Plug-in 7.7.6 7.7.6.0, Shockwave Flash 16.0.0.305, and Shockwave for Director 12.1.7.157. As well, in case they might be the problem, I have the following 2 programs installed into my computer are: Adobe Flash Player 16 NPAPI and Adobe Shockwave Player 12.1. FYI: I am running Windows 8.1 64 bit. Hopefully I have given you enough information to make an assessment. If you need anything from me, please let me know. Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

  • Adobe Flash player keeps crashing, but it's up to date on my computer. So is Firefox. Help?

For some reason, starting today, every page I visit on Firefox (no matter what) comes up with a notification that the Adobe Flash Player plugin has crashed. It started when I was trying to attach a word document to an email to one of my professors on my Google-supported school email account. Every time I tried to attach the document, Flash Player crashed and it wouldn't upload. I finally had to send it using my Live email, which worked, but now Flash Player crashes on every webpage I visit in about 2 seconds. My Flash Player is up to date, as is my version of Firefox. What's going on here? (Note: None of the information of the "Adobe Flash Player has crashed" page was helpful at all.)

Yes, this has been a problem for a lot of people. ADOBE just released Flash Player 11.0.1.152, and that seems to have fixed the problem. It still am finding it a bit laggy to load Flash scripts, but it no longer displays the crashed window.
You can download the file from the official Flash website here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

  • Flash Player keep crashing.

For the past 6 months Flash Player has been a problem because it keeps crashing. It crashes every Internet browser I try to use it in & my iTunes does not work when it crashes also. I even took it to a Geek Squad agent a few months ago who charged me $49.99 to uninstall Flash Player & then re-install it & it worked for a few weeks after they did that but then it stopped working again & had to uninstall it & reinstall it again myself.
Before now, it would atleast work for a week or a few days before crashing but now even after uninstalling it, restarting my computer, reinstalling it & restarting my computer again, it does not work, & if it does work, it will only work for a very short period of time.
I've tried all the settings Adobe has recommended but nothing seems to work. If anyone knows what I could do to make it stop crashing it'd be highly appreciated.

Adobe Flash plugin has crashed - Prevent it from happening again
The message, "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed," is shown when the Flash plugin stops working unexpectedly. Reloading the page will often get the video, game or animation to play again.
If the Flash plugin continues to crash, updating to the latest version of Flash should fix the issue. This article explains how to update Flash and other possible solutions.
    Plugin crash notification Fx21
    Update Flash
The latest version of the Flash plugin should perform better and crash less often. To check if Flash is up to date, visit Mozilla's Plugin Check page. If it says that Flash needs to be updated, install the latest version manually using the steps below.
Go to Adobe's Flash Player download page and download the Flash installer.
Caution: Adobe's download page may include a checkbox for optional software (such as Google Chrome or McAfee Security Scan) that is selected by default. If you do not clear the checkbox before downloading, that software will be installed on your computer when you open the Flash installer.
When the download has finished, close Firefox.
Click the menu button New Fx Menu and then click Exit Close 29
Open the Flash installer file you downloaded and follow the instructions.
Note: If you are having problems with the Flash installer from Adobe's download page, you can use this Flash Player installer link to directly download the full installer.
    Disable hardware acceleration in Flash
Many Flash problems can be resolved by disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash Player settings (Adobe's Flash Player Help - Display Settings page has details). To disable hardware acceleration in Flash:
Go to this Adobe Flash Player Help page.
Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page, then click on Settings in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel.
Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.
    fpSettings1.PNG
Click Close to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
    Restart Firefox.
Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems
The Adobe Flash Player browser plugin lets you view video and animated content in Firefox. This article has information about testing, updating, uninstalling and troubleshooting the Adobe Flash plugin.
Note: The Firefox Software Update feature does not update installed plugins. See the Adobe Security bulletins and advisories page for information about security and stability issues affecting Adobe Flash Player and other Adobe products.
    Testing Flash
Visit Adobe's Test Page to see if the Flash plugin is installed and working properly. If it tells you that Flash is not installed, follow the instructions in the Updating Flash section below to install the Flash plugin.
    Updating Flash
The Flash plugin automatically updates itself by default. If Mozilla's Plugin Check page says that Flash is outdated and you don't want to wait for the automatic update, you can update Flash manually by downloading and installing the latest version from Adobe.
    Uninstalling Flash
For instructions on uninstalling Flash, see Adobe's help page, Uninstall Flash Player - Windows
Note: Running Adobe's uninstaller will remove Flash from all browsers where it is not built-in, including Internet Explorer. You will be prompted to reinstall Flash when you visit a page that requires it, such as Adobe's Test Page.
    Troubleshooting
    Flash plugin not working
If Adobe's Test Page does not show that Flash is working even though you have installed the latest version, your Flash plugin may be disabled. To make sure that Flash is enabled,
Click the menu button New Fx Menu and choose Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Plugins panel.
If the Flash plugin is disabled, select Always Activate in its drop-down menu.
Flash works in Internet Explorer or Chrome but not in Firefox
There are three different types of Flash Players: an ActiveX version for Internet Explorer, a Chrome version built-in the browser and a plugin version for Firefox and some other browsers. If you want Flash to work in Firefox you must install the plugin version, as explained above.
The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed
If you see this message instead of Flash content, see Adobe Flash plugin has crashed - Prevent it from happening again.
    Unresponsive plugin warning
Firefox will show you a warning dialog if the Flash plugin is taking longer then expected:
    warning-unresponsive-plugin
See the article Warning Unresponsive plugin - What it means and how to fix it for solutions and workarounds.
Cannot view full screen Flash videos
See Flash videos won't play full screen.
Playing Flash videos makes Firefox hang
If Firefox stops responding or if the Flash plugin hangs or stops working when playing Flash videos or games, try these solutions:
Pause or stop Flash in other tabs. You may need to close those tabs.
Update Flash. See the Updating Flash section above for instructions.
Disable hardware acceleration in Flash using these steps:
Go to this Adobe Flash Player Help page.
Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page, then click on Settings in the context menu. The Adobe Flash Player Settings screen will open.
Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel.
Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.
    fpSettings1.PNG
Click Close to close the Adobe Flash Player Settings Window.
    Restart Firefox.
Update your graphics drivers. See Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL for details.
    Other Flash problems and solutions
Your Flash issue could be caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration in Firefox. See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems to narrow down the cause.
Other solutions for general audio and video problems are listed in the Fix common audio and video issues article.
If Flash content does not work, acts strangely, causes errors, or if you see a notice that you need to update Flash (for instance, at Mozilla's Plugin Check) even after installing the latest Flash version, uninstall and reinstall Flash.
