Flash Player making your MacBook Pro overheat?

Whenever I play a video which requires Flash Player, my MacBook Pro tends to heat up quite significantly, especially if watching a video in 1080p HD on YouTube, is this normal or is my MacBook Pro acting out of the ordinary?

Normal - your computer shouldn't get too hot, of course, but taxing the CPU and GPU is going to cause your unit to heat up a bit. To check out just how warm your MBP is running, try the free widget iStatPro or (my preference) Temperature Monitor.

That message is just a standard one issued, mainly for Windows users, you can disregard it if you didn't install any anti-virus. (OS X has one installed by Apple that doesn't interfere)
It's just some forms of anti-malware are really paranoid and lock the entire machine down. (like Norton)

  • Is anyone having trouble installing Adobe flash player on a MacBook Pro?

Is anyone having trouble installing Adobe flash player on a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.7.5?

Thanks for your help here is what I did so far!
I have uninstalled Adobe and reinstalled it, I've tried restarting my browser, then my MacBook Pro without any success!
When I click on the Apple in the upper left hand corner and open System Preferences I can see Adobe Flash Player on the bottom under the Other section.
If I open Adobe up and check the version it tells me that I have the most recent version!
I even uninstalled Adobe and installed the newest Beta version, but Adobe is still not working! If I check for the latest version it tells me that I do have the latest beta version, but it still doesn't work!
If the person who made the video used any other video player it works!
Their player, plays the video without a problem!

  • I download adobe flash player for my macbook pro, but nothing that requires adobe flash player works

i download adobe flash player for my macbook pro, but nothing that requires adobe flash player works. i haven"t tried much, but only because i have no idea what to do.

After you've installed Flash Player (you have to mount the disk image by double-clicking and the double-click the insatller package) restart your browser and go to youTube, for example, -> http://www.youtube.com/ - and see if the videos play.
Call back if you need any further help.

  • Cannot update Flash Player 16 to MacBook Pro 10.8

I have all of the prerequisites for updating Adobe Flash Player 16 onto my MacBook Pro 10.8.5. After WEEKS of trying every so-called "solution" I could find, I am still unable to complete the update. I have now solved the sign-in problem, I can "initialize" the process, I can locate the Installer in my Downloads folder, I respond "yes" to the download, I type in my password when prompted in the box about "wanting changes", then click "ok", but I can get no further: the box simply jiggles back and forth. Every "help" prompt sends me back through the same series of "solutions" I have tried again and again. I am not the most sophisticated computer-user, but I can follow clear instructions. I really do not respect a company which does not have a way for a customer to directly contact them when he/she has reached a deadend over and over.  This problem is not just about my installing Adobe; I cannot  use Weightwatchers, Instagram, You tube, and several other web functions without the update. Please help!

It sounds like the password you're entering is being rejected.
This password prompt is presented by your operating system, and is intended to keep you from accidentally installing software.
If this is your personal machine and you don't need a password to log into the computer when it first starts up, you can probably leave the password blank and click OK to get past this prompt.  If this is your personal machine and your normal password isn't working, check to make sure that CAPS LOCK is off, and type the password carefully.
If this is your work machine and it's asking for an Administrator password, well, you'll need to have a conversation with your friendly IT person.
If you're still stumped, you may need to reset the password on your Mac:

    Hi Traci,
Can you try downloading the installer again from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer and see if that helps.  We updated it last week and this issue should be resolved.  Please let me know if you continue to have problems.

  • Flash player crashing my macbook pro

    I have a late 2007 mbp 3,1.
Playing flash video *always* crashes my macbook pro, not immediately but after a few flash player clips. It does not crash the browser but the whole system, and I get a gray screen telling me in different languages I need to hold down the power button to turn off and restart my mac. I have spent hours trying to track down why this happened but to no avail.
The *only workaround* I know is to use the flash player marked flashplayer10r45_2. I have tried all other versions and even excitedly all beta versions, but this problem remains unresolved. And now Firefox 4 won't even accept this version anymore.
    - Is anyone else experiencing this?
-- Do you have a workaround? (one to force FF4 to use the old player or to prevent crashes with any player)

I seem to have solve my issue and wrote it up here http://submanifolds.blogspot.com/2011/04/coolbook-on-macbook-pro-15-22-ghz.html
Long  story short: I use coolbook, and my settings worked for all programs  under heavy loads, but not for flash content, I think that switching cpu  frequencies went a little too fast and the cpu voltage switching could  not keep up, but this is just a guess. I solved it by increasing the  voltages for the upper frequencies a bit and now my computer does not  crash anymore when playing flash. The flash plugin does crash  occasionally, but I consider this normal since I have never seen it  crashing on its own without taking down the whole system with it.
    I hope this helps (anybody)

  • How do I download Adobe Flash Player on my Macbook Pro with Retina Display? It keeps asking me to quit Safari in the background.

    .

Yes, you have to quit Safari for the Flash Installer to complete the installation process. It's sounds as if you've download Flash Player and are trying to install it?

  • How do i get adobe flash player on a macbook pro

I am currently unable to view certain youtube videos because of the adobe flash player 7 needs to be installed ive tried installing the software but it doesnt seem to work how else can i get it or is there anything else i can do

First, Flash Player is up to version 12 so I have to wonder where you're getting the file you're trying to install from. This link is direct to Adobe, where you can get the latest version. This link will tell you which version (if any) you currently have installed. Always get Adobe products, including Flash Player, from Adobe, since other sites which tell you you need it and then offer it may be installing malware instead.

  • Why can't I view embedded flash videos on my MacBook Pro?

I can view videos on Youtube and embedded videos on some  sites, but when I try to view embedded Flash videos on sites like CNN.com and NBA.com, I just get a black rectangle and nothing loads. I've tried this on all browsers. BTW, I also cannot open up tinted ads that come up in Google searches. I have the latest version of Flash, and I've deleted browsing data and settings and have checked "Allow sites to save info." I've disabled pop-up window blocker. I have no ad blocking software. I've installed the latest Flip4Mac plugin. I have even set up a new user account and tried these sites with that account to see if the problem goes away (it didn't).
I have a 12 inch 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro with OS 10.8.3 installed (though the problem started when I still had Snow Leopard). I have all the latest browsers and , as I've said above, the latest Flash. I've tried both Java 7 and Java 6. I should also point out that I can access these sites without problem with my office Macbook Pro, which is a 15 inch Core 5, loaded with the same software I have on my problem 12 inch notebook.
    Any suggestions?

You have JavaScript enabled in all the browsers, yes? Have you tried launch the browsers in Safe Mode?

Not aware of a 12-inch Intel MBP. Anyway, could you possibly have an old version of flash player on your computer too. Look in the In the Internet Plug-ins folder to be sure you have only one flash player plugin. Path is HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/Flash Player.plugin
Also try searching your hard disk for flash.
Some other things to try are in this thread.

I am going take a wild guess that English is not your favorite language. Post in your native language if you like, we all know how to use GoogleTranslate.
To help other members answer your question, give as many details as you can.
        •    Include your Macbook Pro  specs such as processor speed, memory, and storage capacity. Please do not include your Serial Number, IMEI, MEID, or other personal information.
        •    Provide the version numbers of your operating system and relevant applications, for example "OSX  10.9.3" or "Quicktime Player version 7".
        •    Describe the problem, and include any details about what seems to cause it.
        •    List any troubleshooting steps you've already tried, or temporary fixes you've discovered.

Do other USB devices work on your MBP?
Does this USB stick work on other MBPs?
There is a possibility that the stick requires more power than the MBP delivers.  Try it on a powered hub.
