  • Flash Player mysteriously appears back!

Don't know what happened. Suddenly back in June, after
    downloading a security patch that
had been bugging me in pop-ups, I had no Flash Player and
could not find it anywhere in
    my computer.
I wrote quite a bit on another thread (Can´t install
Adobe Flash Player!!!.) back in June and early July
and I tried to open a case but could not get the mechanism to
work to open one. Did not want to try to
download another one without finding the old one to delete
    it.
Just as suddenly, day before yesterday my Flash Player
    returned and all flash sites
work. I did not do a thing such as try another download. I
    did complain to eBay that
I could not see certain DSR functions because my Flash Player
    had disappeared.
The next day - it was back! Gone for 2 months. Where did it
go and how did it get back??
Anyone have an idea what was going on? Can the Flash be
    hacked, hidden and returned??

It's a DNS problem with either the updater or Safari 7 (I'm not seeing it with 6 or 5)

  • Flash Player Issue with Windows 8.1 Professional

    Hi guys,
I'm currently having issues with Flash Player on Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 8.1. It seems that the Flash Player has been disabled when I access http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-issues-windows-8.html.
However, when I logged off the my domain account and use my local account, I'm able to test Flash Player.
Therefore, the only thing I can think of is the Group Policy that is blocking the Flash Player as I've resetted IE settings on my domain account.
Hopefully you guys are able to solve this mystery.
    Thanks!!

Go to control panel and go to program and features and uninstall existing adobe player
and adobe flash player activex both....
Then select windows 8 and flash player  from here http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
    Install and check..

  • Flash Player won't install on OS 10.6.8 on Mac mini

    QUESTION:
I need to use Mac OS X 10.6.8 in order to run software not supported in later versions of OSX.  I cannot succeed in installing the new versions of Flash Player in the Mac mini I need to use for this work.
I have successfully installed the version 14 flashplayer on 10.9.3 systems running on the same Mac mini (on a different partition of the same HD).  I have also successfully installed the new Flash Player on a 10.6.8 system running on an iMac.  BUT I cannot do what I need: instal the new Flash Player on a 10.6.8 system running on my Mac mini (Serial # C07FC92JDD6H, build 10K549).  I have tried to install 14.0.0.145 on this computer many many times, and the install always stops, freezing at precisely 95%.  I have downloaded the 14.0.0.145 update from at least three different download sites, to deal with possibility of corrupted version.  Repeated Google searches show many others had similar problems installing the new Flash Player versions (on different platforms and frequently with OS versions other than 10.6.8), and I have eagerly tried to learn from their successes  but NONE have worked on my particular computer.  (Nor have I seen any case of someone experiencing a similar problem on a Mac mini, either without success or with later success).  When the latest version, 14.0.0.176 came out, I eagerly tried it again a few times, but also without success.
By the way, I should mention that my latest version of Flash Player on this Mac mini is 11.5.502.  Would it shed any light on my problem if I try installing intermediate versions (Flash Player 12 through 13) on my computer, to see if they hang up?  Is there any version other than 14 that would not be rejected on the web?
I have two earlier model Mac minis that I could try installing 14.0.0.??  on if you think my consistent failures might be an idiosyncratic feature of the Mac mini whose serial number I gave above (and that the Flash player updates could work on either of the other two Mac minis).  I would gladly put the more recent model Mac mini aside if I could get the Flash Player install to succeed on one of my other Mac minis.
Thanks for any suggestions you can suggest.

This is an update from Winston Salser.
I have discovered one answer to my original question. It is a "kludge" but it works.
You can see above that I asked, among other things, if it might help for me to try installing earlier versions of Flash Player, such as Version 12 or 13.  While waiting for an answer to my question, I decided to go ahead and try installing an older version.  I was able to download version 13 from an Adobe site that has archived older Flash Player versions.  Before attempting to install it, I uninstalled the version(s) of flash Player currently on my computer.  The downloaded version 13, when I used the "get info" function, identified itself as "flashplayer_13_sa.dmg".   When I clicked on this .dmg installer it surprised me by producing an icon called "Flash Player.app"  which wasn't what I expected to happen from seeing earlier Flash installers. Not knowing anything better to do, I decided to run this app, (which "get info" describes as "Version 13.0.0.241").  I clicked on this application icon, and I think it was then that a FlashPlayer icon appeared in my dock.
I assumed that Version 13 would be rejected, not allowing me to see videos because it presumably doesn't have the required security update. But, the plan I originally suggested was that, if it failed with the typical black screen, I would (as originally planned) again try to install version 14, hoping that somehow passing Version 13 through the bowels of my computer would have cleansed it so that Version 14 would now install.
So, I was surprised that Version 13 actually allows me to see videos!! Whenever I click on a video I first briefly see the black screen with the message (I cannot remember what it says, but it is what you always see when it refuses to play a video, and says you are blocked).  Then, within a second or less, the black screen goes away and the video plays normally.  I have tried this on several videos, and so far I can always view the video just fine except for that very fleeting slap-in-the-face of the black screen.
This is obviously a "kludge" but it works for me now, so that I can function.  It may be helpful for others with the same or similar problems.  It may be significant that the "Get Info" function indicates that this version 13 I downloaded August 16th, was last modified on "Monday, August 4, 2014 5:59 PM", so perhaps it has recently been modified to include the security update???
It would be still better if there was a way I could successfully install version 14.  That is why I am not going to indicate that my original query has been successfully answered. I am hoping that the "real" experts (you know who you are) will either have a better answer, or tell me that my "kludge" shouldn't be used for some reason, or these experts will say that my kludge is OK and they don't have any way I can install Version 14.  In this last eventuality it will remain a mystery why Version 14 refuses to install on my Mini mac (as long as the Mac mini is using the OS 10.6.8 operating system, but installs OK if this Mac Mini is using OS 10.9.3).
Thanks to all of you.   Winston

  • DreamWeaver Flash Scripting Mystery

DW 6 cannot view photo galleries created with Lightroom if they have Flash content.  When a file with flash content (e.g. index.html0 is opened, the design view in DW says, "Sorry, this photo gallery requires that scripting be enabled on your web browser and that the Adobe Flash Player be installed.  Download the Adobe Flash Player".  I have enabled Java scriping in both Firefox and IE and both browsers recognize the presence of Flash. This problem does not occur when the index.html file has no Flash content.  However,  html files with Flash content can be previewed in Firefox but not in IE, where the same error message occurs.  All this is in a new Win 8 PC.  Any suggestions on solving this mystery will be much appreciated.
    Jim

Thanks for your input Sudarshan.  The script and noscript tags are present (Although I do not know how these lines got into my code.) Removing them eliminates the error message but the design view pane is still blank.  Firefox option is set to enable Java Script.  The html can be successfully previewed.  Doesn't this confirm presence of Java Script?  Here is a snippet of the code:

  • Flash player will not display any content, IE 7

    Need help troubleshooting this issue.
When launching a video IE 7 keeps request to install the
    latest version.
I have installed the latest version, it appears that it is
install ok, however no videos will play, I keep getting requested
    to install the latest version.
I have set the permissions to "full control" suggested on
this forum, however that did not correct the problem.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
    Marnie

I found a solution for my issue. I reset the "shockwave"
paramter in IE 7 to enable. Some how Shockware and Flash play are
dependent or interconnected. Once I change "Shockware" to be enable
the video worked. I did not have to reinstall, just restart the
browser. Some how Shockware got disabled, not sure how or when,
this is a mystery. Anyone any thoughts or insight into this issue,
or know how Shockware is related to Flash player?

  • Flash Player 10.1 doesn't remember volume setting, defaults to MAX

Hi, since updating to Flash Player
10.1, all flash videos now default to max volume, whereas before it would remember the last volume setting from video to video.
How do I get the player to remember the volume setting, or how may I download an earlier version?
I have Vista 64-bit running 32-bit Internet Explorer 8.0.6001.18943 and 32-bit Firefox 3.6.10.  The problem is present in both browsers.
It's a freakin' pain to remember to quickly turn down the sound on every single video I watch before I get blown out.

    Hello Forum Users et al,
I know this Updated Post follows shortly after my previous post, but I have a useful piece of info. that others may wish to check on.
I have been using a video:  www.video.com/12348372 as my test case for which the video comes on and then proceeds to not work.  If I click on the "arrow" in the bottom left corner of the video, the video screen goes "black" and nothing happens immediately.  But, here is the important information.  If I wait, then the video reappears, but sounds alternately starts and stops.
What I did for the last several hours was to minimize the email containing the video, and I noticed that the sound alternately came on and off.  But, after over two hours, the video started to play normally (total time for video is about 4 mins.)  When it gets to the end, the original "start arrow" appears.  I have repeatedly played this video after the two-hour period of erratic play, and it played normally.
This event happened one time over a week ago when I was on "Live Chat" with Adobe FP.  I was reporting my problem with FP with Mang Son while I had the video minimized, and, embarrassingly, the video started to work normally!  What could I say?!  I told him essentially that it looked like it was working, and I closed it out.  However, after this, I closed the email containing the video and tried to open the video from scratch, again.  Once again, it started to play erratically, even though it mysteriously was playing normally while I was on "Live Chat".
Users may want to use the video that I cited and see what happens.  It is still a mystery why the video won't work for hours and then all of a sudden start working.  I also had similar trouble with YouTube videos.
    Best regards,
    bookwilliam

  • The new flash player update crashes internet explorer and firefox

The new flash player update crashes internet explorer and firefox, please send a new release to fix the problem ASAP!

ok   here's more mystery.  i just uninstalled and reinstalled flash player using the adobe uninstaller and rebooting after each step.  aqlso installed latest java.  i started looking at videos and here are the ones that worked: you tube
                                                                                           imdb
                                                                                           hulu
                                                                                           ebaumsworld
here are the ones that didn't work:    yahoo
                                                                                           msn
                                                                                           reuters
here are the ones that partially worked: the blaze (works on videos that originate from you tube, but not from news stories)
bing (work on videos from their video section - entertainment type, but not from news videos)
the common thing here seems to be that news type videos crash and entertainment type don't.  also videos seem more likely to crash on internet portals like yahoo

  • Flash player skips socket policy on 843

So, this is a copy of another post I made, but I get a sneaking suspicion I put the post in the wrong forum:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/497758?tstart=0
    The summary:
The Socket class in flash player sometimes, for some users (across all sorts of OS and Browsers) will not ask for the policy file from port 843 first, but instead will go straight to the port of the outgoing request, which in this case is our game server, who doesn't really understand the request.
In every case so far the user *is* using the latest version of flash too, so it's not an issue without outdated policy methods, which would have been my first guess.
For most people it works just fine, but I posted a log in the thread for one of the non-working players. It's pretty mysterious, and I haven't found a fix yet... though I'm going to experiment with some work arounds.

Yes, we use port above 1024 both for socket connection and for gettting a security policy file. You can do the same - FP try to get a policy file from 843 latter when the client try to make a connection via socket if for some reason Fp is not get a socket policy, the  socket will rise a security error. When handle this event client can try to get socket security policy file from additional port. In this way can can eliminate sending a policy file request to your port.

  • Install Flash Player on OS X 10.8.5

Can't install Flash Player on OS X 10.8.5.
Receive message: Adobe Flash Player can't be installed on the disk. This system does not meet the minimum requirements for installation. Mac OS X 10.6 or higher is required.
I have enabled Java, trashed all Flash Player download Plugins and Plugin folders, and uninstalled all previous Flash Players from my hard drive.
This has involved hours of work so far. Installing Flash Player is the most unfriendly process in my 30 years of computing.

Yes, but I solved the problem. FINALLY!
    Solution:
On some Macs, 10.8.5 installed a visible file at the top level named: mach_kernel, which should have been installed as an invisible file. On an unrelated Mac problem, I was asking an "expert" from AppleCare if I should delete this mysterious file. As I had never seen such a file in all my computing years, I was skeptical of deleting this file without consulting Apple. The "expert" told me to delete it as it was not a serious file, which I did.
Related to all the problems of installing Flash Player updates as described above, further Google research indicated that I should try to find the original "mach_kernel" file and restore it. Fortunately, I could locate this file on a backup disk, which I reinstalled on my Mac HD. The file copied quickly and instantly transformed itself into an invisible file, which it should have done in the first place.
Then I tried to install the latest 12 version of Flash Player Installer and, Voila!, Flash Player now works on all browers.
Thank you Mike M for your initial offer to help.

  • How to install older versions of Flash Player(ActiveX) in Win 8?

    Hello all,
How to install older version of Flash Player in Windows 8? and how to uninstall default Flash Player that come from IE10 in Windows 8?
Actually I want to install Adobe_Flash_Player_(IE)_v11.7.700.224.exe in Windows 8.
Is it possible to overcome this issue? If it is not, could you share me your information on this issue?
    Thanks in advance.
    RK.

    Thank you for reply..
Actually i uninstalled the existing version of Flash Player from my Windows 8 PC, but when i tried to install the older version, it was not allowing me to install and was showing that my browser is included with latest version.
Even i followed the below given websites, it didn't given any remedy for it.
    http://flash-focus.blogspot.in/2007/03/installing-previous-versions-of-flash.html
    http://www.itsecdb.com/oval/objectdetails/oval/org.mitre.oval/obj/7075/windows-registry_ob ject-Registry-that-holds-the-version-of-the-Adobe-Flash-Player-in/
So that my PC is restricting the older version installation from somewhere which holds the version information and that user cannot modify/delete that information. If i know that mystery i can install any version of Flash Player in my Windows 8.
I hope i will find this.
    Thanks for your support.

  • Hit Or Miss Mac Flash Player

I have wasted an inordinate amount of time trying to find a solution for this...
I'm working on an Intel iMac, Mac OSX v.10.5.8, browsers Safari 4.0.5 (5531.22.7) and Firefox v.3.6.3. I've carefully uninstalled and reinstalled the latest Mac version of both the Flash and Shockwave players with the recommended Adobe installers and uninstallers, repaired permissions, rebooted, etc.
The odd part of my mystery is that before this most recent Flash update installation, I never had a problem at ANY site.
Now, videos play as expected at some sites, like http://youtube.com , but not at all at other sites, like http://vids.myspace.com/
Perhaps a related new development is that when I enter the fullscreen mode at youtube, the gray-bordered "Pres Esc to exit full screen mode" alert stays fixed in the middle of the screen... very distracting.
In some cases, I see a blank pop-up screen (whether or not "Block Pop-Up Windows" is selected in Safari's menu) or, as is the case at http://vids.myspace.com — a blank screen with a circular light-gray *snake* chasing its tail clockwise. (I'm beginning to feel much the same trying to remedy this problem.)
If I CONTROL-click on the blanks for the "Settings" I see the Settings Manager, but it is entirely non-functional. When I try to make changes suggested in the Forums on the Adobe site's representation of that Settings Manager –
http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_man ager03.html  I can move the slider value from a "setting other than zero," but the "Allow third-party Flash content to store data on your computer" checkbox cannot be enabled.
I installed the recommended flash debugger and got this result from a *no-show* video's pop-up blank:
Error: Error #2134: Cannot create SharedObject.
    at flash.net::SharedObject$/getLocal()
    at com.jeroenwijering.utils::Configger/loadCookies()
    at com.jeroenwijering.utils::Configger/load()
    at com.jeroenwijering.player::Player/loadConfig()
A knowledgeable website guru/friend suggested this might indicate a conflict with an earlier flash version, but a thorough search and examination reveals no previous versions lurking anywhere.
The one remaining item I've removed is the Flash Player folder – user/library/caches/Adobe/Flash Player — which had some items dating back to 2009. It didn't help. Other than that, I'm at a loss to fix this problem.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanx.

  • Is it safe to download the Adobe Flash Player to my macbook

Is it safe to download Adobe Flash Player to my macbook?  If so, any recomendations?

Adobe Flash Player is listed in my system preferences in 'Other.'  I updated from there.  Is that not a good idea?
That's perfectly okay. You just don't want to click mystery links in e-mail messages, on web sites or click buttons in unsolicited Flash update warnings. These things have been problems in the past. In all such cases, ignore it and go update Flash from Adobe's web site or through System Preferences.
I do most of my updates from my 'Software Update."  Is that also not to be trusted?  And checking for updates in the menu of third party software?
Those should also be fine, though don't do this sort of thing on an unknown public wireless network. Sometimes, such networks can be set up with the express purpose of getting people to join and then fooling their computers into downloading fake updates. Do your updates on known, trusted networks, such as your own home network.
I also went to the firefox link you suggested (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ ).  It indicates that my Shockwave Flash and Java Applet Plug-in are outdated.
Shockwave is not quite the same. You can install (or update) it separately here:
    http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/
However, I have never had a Shockwave plugin installed on my computer. There's very little Shockwave content on the web these days. You may do better to simply uninstall it.
Regarding Java, you MUST update it as quickly as possible! See:
    Java is vulnerable… Again?!
If you have Java enabled in your web browser, it may be worth scanning your hard drive for malware using something like Sophos.

  • Adobe TV and flash player

I tried to watch Adobe TV. It does not work. All I get is an empty white square with a red x in the upper left corner. It is the same on all computers and all operating systems that I have tried at home and at work (Windows XP Home Edition, Windows XP Media Edition, Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista). It seems like no one can play Adobe TV. On all the systems I can play other Video (neswchannels, microsoft tutorials, YouTube, my own).
It seems like the reason for that is that it requires the latest Flash Player. However, downloading the latest Flash Player cannot be done either. It also fails on every system I have tried it on. Previous versions of Flash Player (7 and 8) could be downloaded without problems. I don't know what is going on?
Has anyone succeeded in wathcing Adobe TV?
Has anyone successfully download latest FlashpPlayer?
If so how did you do it? Any tips?
    Any suggestions are welcome
    Thomas

I succeeded to run the videos after I downloaded the latest Flashplayer. However, Flashplayer download/install failed until I used Adobes Adobe Flashplayer uninstaller and then installed it. Uninstalling the old version from the control panel does not help. By doing the special uninstall and then installing the new flash player I succeeded to make it work on Vista/IE 8.0 but not on XP/IE. Anyway that is a mystery.
    Thanks for your input

  • Black screen after using flash player 3 or 4 times

    Hi!
I've had this problem for a long time: After having played three or four videos using flash player for example, my screen turns completely black and I have to force a shut down of my PC. With how much flash is still used in browsers, this is extremely annoying and a waste of my time.
If anyone could help me, I'd be glad!
    Flash Player version: WIN 15,0,0,239
    Debug Player: No
    User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:34.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/34.0
    Browser Version: 5.0 (Windows)
    Browser Name: Netscape
I updated my flash player and my graphic driver and the problem still occurs. I also turned of the hardware acceleration as stated in the following article: Video playback issues but it remains the same.
I registered this as a bug: Bug#3863932 - Video playback issues but I am uncertain whether this will actually be solved sooner there or here on the forums... So I've decided to try both.
    Please help!
EDIT: I also have a dxdiag-file avaible, but I am unsure how to share it. You can access it through my bug report that I have linked to earlier.

Yeah, that was always the problem: Hardly anyone CAN reproduce it. I've checked my hardware and drivers though and I've re-installed windows completely just because of this bug, thinking it might be some virus or sth, but nothing like that helped.
And so far, I couldn't find any steps to reproduce, or anyone who also has this problem.
I had my brother, who has a masters degree in computer sciences, try it out and he didn't know any solution or any reason either. :I You can just tell me if this is hopeless, I won't be mad, but really, a video would just show you exactly what I told you.
There's nothing else to it. No mysterious thing I'm doing wrong. I wish it was something like that, honest
Also, it doesn't happen with specific youtube videos. I tried mixing up the order of the videos and it happened again, after starting the 3rd or 4th video (also happens when facebook had this automatically-starting-videos-thing, which was especially fun, as you can imagine, so it's not website-specific either, sadly)..
