Flash player not detecting Usb attached professional camera
Hi,
Details :
Our application uses below snippet of Flex 4.5 sdk code for detecting flash players :
var camera:Camera = Camera.getCamera();
if (camera) {
camera.setMode(640,480,60,true);
camera.setQuality(1000,10000);
videoDisplay.attachCamera(camera);
else {
Alert.show("No Camera found with your computer");
Above code is fine for the Logitech webcam which am using, We have a requirement to detect Canon EOS digital cams to be recognized as well to detect with the flash player.
but its not recognizable in flash player.
Any help is appreciated!
Any inputs on this please ? Is the getCamera not designed to detect external cams? or is it available in any other sdk versions? am using flex 4.5.1.x

Flash player not detected since latest update?
This morning when I logged onto my machine, I was notified
that there was an update to the Adobe Flash Player. I went ahead
and let it install. Afterward, I went to a website to do some work,
but found when I got there that the site's flash player detection
code was failing, and I was provided with a link to download the
latest version. So, I went to Adobe's site and ran the install
again, and it went to the screen where the little flash movie pops
up to show that the install was successful. However, upon returning
to the website I originally came from, it was still not detecting
the Flash Player!
I went directly to Adobe's website, and even their front page
isn't detecting the flash player, as it put me at an static version
of the site. I tried going into the control panel page for the
Flash Player, due to reading a forum post here saying there was som
cab file thing I might need to mess with to fix this problem, but
the control panel page just notifies me that I need to download the
player.
When even the creator's home page doesn't recognize that I've
installed its product, that seems like a serious problem to me.
I've gone to a number of other sites with heavy flash content, and
95% of them told me to download the latest version of the Flash
Player. I think something about the player's detection process is
broken. I even completely uninstalled the player and reinstalled it
from scratch, and it's still not working.
Any ideas?
ADDENDUM: This appears to be an IE 7 issue, as Firefox is
having no trouble getting the player detected. After JUST posting the above message i found another thread
on this site that is focusing on the same problem. I found a
solution in that thread that worked with a few mods for XP. Again I
am running XP SP2 and IE6.
Here's the solution as posted, I think for a Vista user that
was experiencing the same behavior from Flash:
1. Go to WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash and find uninstaller
2. After you run uninstaller the "Flash" folder should
disappear itself...if not, you manually delete it
3. Install the flash player again with the file you download
from adobe
http://www.adobe.com/go/full_flashplayer_win_msi
I followed step 1, but the only uninstaller i could find in
the Flash folder was an unistaller for the Flash9.ocx, so i ran it.
It however did NOT delete the Flash folder itself, so i did what
step 2 recommended and deleted the Flash folder altogether. Then I
went to Adobe's site at
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash
and downloaded the Flash9 installer, ran it, and bingo! Flash works
again.

Flash player not detected w/o admin rights
I've installed the latest version of the macromedia flash
player. I installed it under my profile with admin rights, If I
login as a user that does not have admin rights, the flash player
does not get detected. Any ideas? This works fine on other computer
in the network. The computer is running XP SP2.I hate to reply to my own post, but I found the solution!! Actually I found a post from someone else who found the solution... I will detail it here in case someone else searches for it.
Solution:
What happened was I went into IE and went to the Help/About Internet Explorer. When I did I got a strange Error 53 dialog box that came up. I searched the internet for this and came across this site: http://www.netsplore.com/PublicPortal/blog.aspx?EntryID=45.
Following the instructions on that site solved all the problems!
I hope this helps someone else...

Hey,
I've tried over and over again to install Flash Player. It says the plugin doesn't work or is not there. I have Flash for Firefox but doesn't seem to get recognized for Safari.
Any ideas why?
ChrisI am having a similar problem, too. Every time I try to load a page with flash content, it doesn't display at all. It doesn't even display a spacer or ?-box. As if the code weren't even there. It's annoying, because a lot of site I go to can only be navigated with flash. This started happening after one of the MANY recent security updates, but I don't know which one, and I didn't notice the behavior because I wasn't using my computer much during midterms.
I have uninstalled flashplayer 8 using Adobe (formerly macromedia)'s own uninstaller, and reinstalled it. The odd thing is, when I go to Safari's Help > Installed Plug-ins, it lists the correct plug-in as activated. I have repaired my permsissions, and run fsck -f in single user mode. Is there any way to correct this WITHOUT a reinstall? That'll take forever... -
Flash player not detecting DRM
According to the documentation, when an encrypted FLV is played using the netstream.play() method, it should fire a StatusEvent, with event code "DRM.encryptedFLV". This does not work for me. Instead an ErrorEvent is broadcast with text="Error #2014: Feature is not available at this time." I need to catch the proper event so I can initiate the DRM license retrieval process (I want my player to support both encrypted and non encrypted content). What am i doing wrong?
Hi Pedro,
The SampleVideoPlayer hosted on drmtest.adobe.com will first look to see if a .metadata file is available. If not, it assumes that the content is not DRM protected and will directly do a NetStream.play() on the content. Just to verify for yourself, you can try to copy one of our publicly-hosted Flash-Access DRM files (without the .metadata file) to your web server, and then try to play that with our publicly-hosted SampleVideoPlayer.
Copy this DRM'd file: http://drmtest.adobe.com/content/anonymous.f4v
Use our SampleVideoPlayer: http://drmtest.adobe.com/SVP/SampleVideoPlayer_FP.html
However, back to your question, if your license server is public-facing, can I have a link to the video you're playing, to replicate things on my side? In addition, may I also have your player source code, just to see if there is anything odd that jumps out?
I'll private-message you my email address.
cheers,
/Eric. -

Help with Flash Player- Not Playing
I recently went to a website where it said that i needed to
download the latest version of Flash Player. I followed the
directions and installed it, and the movie came up after
installation, but on the website it still said i needed to install
flash player again. I went through the other forum posts and tried
everything, but it still wouldn't show up. Then today i was on the
website and finally the video came up, but then when i refreshed
the page the video was gone and it again said i needed to install
the latest version of Flash Player. The video has shown up twice in
the past day, then says i need to reinstall again. I've tried
everything, but the videos just wont show up. Does anyone know how
to fix this for good?JDB... your problems and solutions are different (and much
more complex). Read this CAREFULLY.
Printable, lovingly formatted versions of these steps, valid
as of 9/15/2007 are available. I recommend printing them and
following along with the print version:
.doc:
http://www.supportflash.com/bent/flash_player_ocx_troubleshooting.doc
.pdf:
http://www.supportflash.com/bent/flash_player_ocx_troubleshooting.pdf
The issue is this: You have multiple accounts on your XP
machine. One account plays Flash no problem, the other doesn't,
although both are Administrator accounts. Or possibly you have only
one account, and that account fails to play any Flash content. In
any case if you have ANY odd trouble with the Flash Player ActiveX
control for Windows as of September 2007, these should be your
steps. And yes, you need to do both sets of steps, in order!
The cause: This is usually caused by either or BOTH of the
following problems:
1. Leftover locked bits of an old Flash Player installation
2. Registry permission errors (aka 'ACL's)
OK so what do you do about this?
ONE: Identify possibly leftover Flash player bits
a. Open C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash folder.
b. Download the latest FP uninstaller from
http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157.
c. Run the uninstaller. If you get a notice saying you need
to reboot, then reboot.
d. Look at C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash folder.
e. Does any file ending in .ocx remain? (flash.ocx,
flasha.ocs, flash9d.ocx etc...)
e1. If no, then you don't usually have any leftover locked
bits.
You're done with this part of the problem, proceed to TWO.
e2. If yes, then that remaining .ocx file may be locked.
Right click it
and select properties and look at the version tab.
What is the version number?
f. Is the version number Flash Player 9.0.16.0 or earlier?
f1. Use the uninstaller instructions from this technote:
http://www.adobe.com/go/4da116d3
-- section "Flash Player 9.0.16.0 and earlier"
-- DO NOT re-register the uninstaller. ONLY do this
UninstFl.exe part.
Yes, you'll need to know how to use the command line to do
this. If you're not
comfortable with that then take your machine to someone who
is!
g. Is the version number Flash Player 9.0.28.0 or higher?
g1. Use the uninstaller instructions from this technote:
http://www.adobe.com/go/4da116d3
-- section "Flash Player 9 (9.0.28.0) and later"
-- DO NOT re-register the uninstaller. ONLY do this
UninstFl.exe part.
In both the D and E sections above you'll need to use the
specific name of the control that remains
in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash. So if you had a
stuck flash9b.ocx[DJM1] in the folder
and version was 9.0.28.0, your uninstall command would look
like this:
UninstFl.exe -u
c:\windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash9b.ocx
That said, if you have trouble running these commands it
really is necessary to find someone who knows how
to use the command line, either a friend or a local
professional. Or spend some time learning about the
command line yourself.
h. RERUN the uninstaller you downloaded earlier. This should
get rid of the remaining (now unlocked) .ocx file and fix any
registry keys associated with it.
ALL of section "ONE: Identify possibly leftover Flash player
bits" is important. BUT this locked bit problem only happens on
maybe one out of 50 machines. So most people with installation
problems such as this are not going to have locked bits.
AND even after reinstalling you may still have continued
problems with Flash Player not being recognized.
Then we have to move on to section two..
TWO: Registry Permission Problems
We have been working on Flash Player failures caused by
Windows System Registry issues. We have not been able to determine
what’s causing these permissions to change. But that change
prevents the successful installation of Flash Player ActiveX
control (used by IE Windows).
Registry permission problems can be resolved using a tool
called SubInACL, built by Microsoft to correct system registry
issues.
Symptoms: What to look for:
1. If you install Flash Player on IE and are unable to see
Flash content on any webpage
2. After installation C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash
will have flash 9c.ocx in it but it failed to register
3. It appears that Flash Player installed correctly, but
unable to view Flash content
4. Flash Player works on other browsers, but NOT Internet
Explorer
5. If you are missing groups in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT Advanced
Permissions
6. If you have run registry cleaners in the past, this may
have corrupted your system
Warning: The following solution involves the Windows System
Registry. Editing or manipulating the registry incorrectly can
result in serious system damage which may require re-installation
of the operating system. If you are not comfortable editing the
registry, then take your system to a professional. If you choose to
proceed, then it is essential that you create a complete system
backup and a Windows System Restore Point before proceeding. Adobe
Systems cannot be held responsible for damage resulting from this
information.
1. Select Start > Run
2. Type in “regedit”
3. Right click on HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
4. Select Permissions
5. Select Advanced
For Vista
Compare your permissions with the ones in this screenshot.
http://www.supportflash.com/vista_key.png
For Window XP Pro or other flavors of XP
Compare your permissions with the ones in this document
“Troubleshooting system registry issues that prevent Flash
Player installation” (scroll down to the bottom of page).
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=kb400116
Notice any major differences, missing groups, incorrect
permissions?
How can you repair the System Registry, what's the fix
Download SubInACL from Microsoft to fix permission issues
that prevent the Flash Player Installation.
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=fb1634cb
NOTE: The Microsoft version of the .cmd script run by
SubInACL is not be run on any XP version other than Pro. HOWEVER,
the Adobe .cmd script in the above technote is tested safe for ALL
VERSIONS OF XP!!!
If you have a Windows System Registry permission issue that
sounds like the one described above, SubINACL may be the solution.
Please note that if you have this issue on multiple accounts on one
machine you’ll need to fix each machine individually. -

Why does flash player not work with facebook?
Why does flash player not work with fcebook? Whenever I wish to view a video, I get the message that i need to upgrade my flash player. Then no matter how often I download and install flash player I still get the message that I need to upgrade my flash player. When I go check which version I have, I always get the message that I have the most current one. I run Mozilla Firefox with Windows. I don't know anything else.
Message was edited by: khettichThis means you don't have the latest version installed. Update to 11.9.900.117, and Firefox will allow it: Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)

Resolve installed Flash player not excuted for all the Vista users on my PC?
I have a Windows Vista 32-bits system.
I have created 2 admin and 2 standard users.
Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) 32 bit is installed but also Chrome and Firfox are used.
For 1 admin user Flash works fine when accessing a site in IE9 that requires Flash.
For the other users, including the admin user, IE9 must be run "as adminstrator" by specifically choosing that option.
If not run "as administrator" IE9 states that Flash needs to be installed. That either leeds to Flash player not being installed (error is that it is already installed) or that after a succesful installation the problem simply occurs again (and again and again ...)
I want the standard users on the pc to be able to navigate to trusted sites without running IE9 in "as adminstrator" mode.
What do I need to do?
Can I set Adobe Flash player to be available for all the users for Vista and IE9?
Do I need to alter registry settings manually?
If yes - how and which?
Thanks in advance.Chris,
Thanks for the reply but unfortunately it does not resolve the problem.
Other users (including the other system administrator) still need to run IE as administrator.
When in my sysadmin account the shortcuts for other users to a URL requiring Flash and using IE9 execute fine GRRRRRRR.
This is very frustrating.
On my pc Chrome aand Modzilla have no problems.
The childrens protective software I have however is based on IE.
Do you have any more suggestions?
My alternative is to downgrade IE9 to IE8 or 7 but that is also not an easy exercise ...
Thanks in advance for any input. -

Adobe flash player not support in android 4.1.2 samsung s2
Plz give me feedback (private contact info removed by moderator). i have Samsung S2 Mobile. And i have android 4.1.2(Lastest S2 Version). I can install this software. but I cant see any LIVE TV CHANNEL. EveryWhere flash player required. And i READ somewhere that in ADOBE FLASH PLAYER not SUPPORT in Samsung S2 Mobile. Sir plz SOLVE THIS PROBLEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
SIR PLZ GIVE ME FEEDBACK...
-THANK YOU SO MUCH...There is no more Flash Player for Android and there won't be another. Android is no longer compatible with Flash Player. Playing Flash content is very processor consumptive and it drains your battery, also shortening the life of it. Android (Google) recommends using either "Dolphin" or "Puffin" as your browser if you need to view Flash content with a mobile device running Android. They're both free in the GooglePlay store. These browsers use "server side" rendering to reduce the load on your device.
