Flash Player not showing SWF movie

Hi Everyone-
First off thank you for anyone that is willing to send advise my way.
I am using Windows 7 - Indesign CS5
I have created a SWF movie exported from Flash with playback component.
I have imported that SWF into Indesign CS5 and created an interactive SWF with a SWF movie embedded.
This SWF works beautifully on my machine and others that have access to the same server - however when I remove the file with Resources foldes to another machine/ location the SWF movie will not display. It DOES display the playback component (looping continuously)  but NO SWF movie.
My guess is that I am missing a file in the Resources folder but I am clueless as to what additional file I could be missing.
Thanks for your help!

Thanks! I posted my issue there first......no one has an answer as of yet.

  • Flash player not showing up in start menue?

installed version 11 7 700 202 on new computer running windows 7 and internet explorer. Installations said complete, but the program does not show up in the start menue and does not activate when trying to view videos, sometimes getting the message that I do not have flashplayer plugin downloaded?  On the adobe help site the find version help tool displays that "flash player is running on your system" by showing the movie of that text and a red ball.  So what the heck is going on. I have restarted the computer a couple time too?

Flash Player is only a browser add-on, not an executable program, so it won't appear in the Start menu.
Regarding Internet Explorer, a couple of possibilities

  • Flash Player not showing up in Safari Plug-ins/Firefox Add-ons

    OS: Mac OSX 10.4.11
    Safari version: 4.1.3
    Firefox version: 3.0.19
I am trying to do an online training course, but the site tells me I need to install the Flash Player plug-in to be able to view the site. I downloaded the newest version, and thought I had installed it, but I still get the same message when I go to the course website, and Flash Player doesn't show up anywhere in my plug-in/add-on lists for Safari or Firefox. Is there something I'm not doing right? Is my computer just too outdated? Or is this more likely to be a problem with that website. I haven't noticed problems with any other site, but I confess I haven't really been looking. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Hello,
Do you know if your computer is Intel or Power PC based?  If it's Power PC (sometime referred to as PPC) the last version of Flash Player for this architecture can be found here:  Flash Player 10.1.102.64
Please download and extract the zip.  Navigate to and mount "/Flash Player 10.1.102.64/10_1r102_64/flashplayer10_1r102_64_ub_mac.dmg"  You should then be able to install using the normal procedure.
    Thanks,

  • Flash player not showing all of pix on web page

Have latest flash player 11, IE 10, windows 7 64bit. Have tried everything that I have found on your site, still having problem when I go to a page, all of pix will not show up. Have downloaded firefox, but it is the same. Also talked to internet provider, says its not their problem, but they tried a lot of different thing. Activex filtering not checked. Shockwave flash object enabled. What should I do next?????

Can you provide a link to where that happens?

  • Newer flash player not opening SWFs

    Hi Everyone
I'm a teacher and am having problem opening student SWF files. I believe many of my students are still in Flash CS6, or perhaps CS5.
I have Flash CC installed. It looks like my Flash Player is 11.7.700.169. But I also have Flash Player 11.4.402.265, which from what I understand is the Flash CS6 player??
When I try to open their SWF to view, it just closes immediately. I can open the .FLA fine., although when this has happened it looks like students have used TLF text, and I get a message from Flash CC saying this is unsupported. But if they have done anything with fonts I don't have, I can't see their work as intended. This is an intro class, so they really haven't learned about embedding yet.
My hunch is that the TLF text won't run in the newer Flash player. But I'm wondering why the SWF doesn't then come up okay with version 11.4xxx.  Any ideas on what I can do ?

when you right click and click on the swf, you're using your stand-alone flash player.  most people don't keep those players updated.
if you wanted to updated your standalone player, you can go here:  http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
and install the projector player for mac.
in any case, you cannot see any student's original design (that contains unembedded fonts) unless you open their fla in flash pro>and confirm there are no missing fonts detected by flash.
if missing fonts are detected open their fla in flash pro>view the list of missing fonts displayed by flash pro>download and install those fonts>restart flash and then open their fla and confirm there are no missing fonts.
you can now open their swf in any flash player you have installed (as long as you see no message about needing an updated flash player).

  • Flash player not playing .swfs - launching Flash Pro

    Hey folks.
I'm running Windows 7. Previously, when double-clicked to open and view .swf files, they would open and play flawlessly. Now, It launches Flash Pro to play the .swf's - just like as if I were using a Mac.
This has only been happening since I installed CS5. Any idea what to do? I tried doing a right-click - open with - to set a default program but I don't see Flash Player as it is installed on my computer. I don't have a .swf icon - its a white icon with the Flash mneumonic inside it.
I have run updates and re-installed Flash Player - I don't know what else to try.

Found it! Just had to do more digging...
I've provided the path to the player.

I understand that IE doesnt need plug-ins and the like. Any suggestions ?

  • Help with Flash Player- Not Playing

I recently went to a website where it said that i needed to
download the latest version of Flash Player. I followed the
directions and installed it, and the movie came up after
installation, but on the website it still said i needed to install
flash player again. I went through the other forum posts and tried
everything, but it still wouldn't show up. Then today i was on the
website and finally the video came up, but then when i refreshed
the page the video was gone and it again said i needed to install
the latest version of Flash Player. The video has shown up twice in
the past day, then says i need to reinstall again. I've tried
everything, but the videos just wont show up. Does anyone know how
    to fix this for good?

JDB... your problems and solutions are different (and much
    more complex). Read this CAREFULLY.
Printable, lovingly formatted versions of these steps, valid
as of 9/15/2007 are available. I recommend printing them and
following along with the print version:
    .doc:
    http://www.supportflash.com/bent/flash_player_ocx_troubleshooting.doc
    .pdf:
    http://www.supportflash.com/bent/flash_player_ocx_troubleshooting.pdf
The issue is this: You have multiple accounts on your XP
machine. One account plays Flash no problem, the other doesn't,
although both are Administrator accounts. Or possibly you have only
one account, and that account fails to play any Flash content. In
any case if you have ANY odd trouble with the Flash Player ActiveX
control for Windows as of September 2007, these should be your
steps. And yes, you need to do both sets of steps, in order!
The cause: This is usually caused by either or BOTH of the
    following problems:
    1. Leftover locked bits of an old Flash Player installation
    2. Registry permission errors (aka 'ACL's)
OK so what do you do about this?
ONE: Identify possibly leftover Flash player bits
    a. Open C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash folder.
    b. Download the latest FP uninstaller from
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157.
    c. Run the uninstaller. If you get a notice saying you need
    to reboot, then reboot.
    d. Look at C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash folder.
    e. Does any file ending in .ocx remain? (flash.ocx,
    flasha.ocs, flash9d.ocx etc...)
e1. If no, then you don't usually have any leftover locked
    bits.
You're done with this part of the problem, proceed to TWO.
e2. If yes, then that remaining .ocx file may be locked.
    Right click it
and select properties and look at the version tab.
    What is the version number?
    f. Is the version number Flash Player 9.0.16.0 or earlier?
f1. Use the uninstaller instructions from this technote:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/4da116d3
-- section "Flash Player 9.0.16.0 and earlier"
-- DO NOT re-register the uninstaller. ONLY do this
    UninstFl.exe part.
Yes, you'll need to know how to use the command line to do
    this. If you're not
comfortable with that then take your machine to someone who
    is!
    g. Is the version number Flash Player 9.0.28.0 or higher?
g1. Use the uninstaller instructions from this technote:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/4da116d3
-- section "Flash Player 9 (9.0.28.0) and later"
-- DO NOT re-register the uninstaller. ONLY do this
    UninstFl.exe part.
In both the D and E sections above you'll need to use the
specific name of the control that remains
in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash. So if you had a
    stuck flash9b.ocx[DJM1] in the folder
and version was 9.0.28.0, your uninstall command would look
    like this:
    UninstFl.exe -u
    c:\windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash9b.ocx
That said, if you have trouble running these commands it
really is necessary to find someone who knows how
to use the command line, either a friend or a local
professional. Or spend some time learning about the
    command line yourself.
    h. RERUN the uninstaller you downloaded earlier. This should
get rid of the remaining (now unlocked) .ocx file and fix any
    registry keys associated with it.
ALL of section "ONE: Identify possibly leftover Flash player
bits" is important. BUT this locked bit problem only happens on
maybe one out of 50 machines. So most people with installation
problems such as this are not going to have locked bits.
AND even after reinstalling you may still have continued
problems with Flash Player not being recognized.
Then we have to move on to section two..
    TWO: Registry Permission Problems
We have been working on Flash Player failures caused by
Windows System Registry issues. We have not been able to determine
what’s causing these permissions to change. But that change
prevents the successful installation of Flash Player ActiveX
    control (used by IE Windows).
Registry permission problems can be resolved using a tool
called SubInACL, built by Microsoft to correct system registry
    issues.
    Symptoms: What to look for:
    1. If you install Flash Player on IE and are unable to see
    Flash content on any webpage
    2. After installation C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash
will have flash 9c.ocx in it but it failed to register
    3. It appears that Flash Player installed correctly, but
    unable to view Flash content
    4. Flash Player works on other browsers, but NOT Internet
    Explorer
    5. If you are missing groups in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT Advanced
    Permissions
    6. If you have run registry cleaners in the past, this may
    have corrupted your system
Warning: The following solution involves the Windows System
Registry. Editing or manipulating the registry incorrectly can
result in serious system damage which may require re-installation
of the operating system. If you are not comfortable editing the
registry, then take your system to a professional. If you choose to
proceed, then it is essential that you create a complete system
backup and a Windows System Restore Point before proceeding. Adobe
Systems cannot be held responsible for damage resulting from this
    information.
    1. Select Start > Run
    2. Type in “regedit”
    3. Right click on HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
    4. Select Permissions
    5. Select Advanced
    For Vista
Compare your permissions with the ones in this screenshot.
    http://www.supportflash.com/vista_key.png
For Window XP Pro or other flavors of XP
Compare your permissions with the ones in this document
“Troubleshooting system registry issues that prevent Flash
Player installation” (scroll down to the bottom of page).
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=kb400116
Notice any major differences, missing groups, incorrect
    permissions?
How can you repair the System Registry, what's the fix
Download SubInACL from Microsoft to fix permission issues
that prevent the Flash Player Installation.
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=fb1634cb
NOTE: The Microsoft version of the .cmd script run by
SubInACL is not be run on any XP version other than Pro. HOWEVER,
the Adobe .cmd script in the above technote is tested safe for ALL
    VERSIONS OF XP!!!
If you have a Windows System Registry permission issue that
sounds like the one described above, SubINACL may be the solution.
Please note that if you have this issue on multiple accounts on one
machine you’ll need to fix each machine individually.

  • Flash player not working with all programs

Hi, I'm having trouble with flash player not being recognized by certain player apps... On Facebook when there is a video showing on my newsfeed it just shows three little lines pulsing in the middle but it dosen't play. Now, I can go to the page where the video is and play it but not on my news feed. Also I cannot play Pandora as it tells me I need the latest flash player which I know that I have but it isn't recognizing it. I have uninstalled flash player, reinstalled it .. I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it .. I have also refreshed Firefox and it still dosen't work with those particular applications.. I have also gone to plugins and made sure that it shows that it's enabled and all the players are.. I have adobe flash and shockwave installed.. One thing that is curious though is that when I check to see if my flashplayers are updated in my plugins it comes up and tells me that Shockwave is vulnerable and needs to be updated but when I click on it and update it ... It shows that it worked but then it dosen't reflect that in my plugin update... HELP PLZ !! :)

Thank you so much for your help!!! Most appreciative!!! :)

  • Custom flash player (not flv) working with custom flash content

I am working on a custom player of swf content. Some of the

  • Why does flash player not work with facebook?

Why does flash player not work with fcebook?  Whenever I wish to view a video, I get the message that i need to upgrade my flash player. Then no matter how often I download and install flash player I still get the message that I need to upgrade my flash player.  When I go check which version I have, I always get the message that I have the most current one.  I run Mozilla Firefox with Windows.  I don't know anything else.

This means you don't have the latest version installed.  Update to 11.9.900.117, and Firefox will allow it: Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)

  • Resolve installed Flash player not excuted for all the Vista users on my PC?

    I have a Windows Vista 32-bits system.
I have created 2 admin and 2 standard users.
Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) 32 bit is installed but also Chrome and Firfox are used.
For 1 admin user Flash works fine when accessing a site in IE9 that requires Flash.
For the other users, including the admin user, IE9 must be run "as adminstrator" by specifically choosing that option.
If not run "as administrator" IE9 states that Flash needs to be installed. That either leeds to Flash player not being installed (error is that it is already installed) or that after a succesful installation the problem simply occurs again (and again and again ...)
I want the standard users on the pc to be able to navigate to trusted sites without running IE9 in "as adminstrator" mode.
What do I need to do?
Can I set Adobe Flash player to be available for all the users for Vista and IE9?
Do I need to alter registry settings manually?
If yes - how and which?
    Thanks in advance.

    Chris,
Thanks for the reply but unfortunately it does not resolve the problem.
Other users (including the other system administrator) still need to run IE as administrator.
When in my sysadmin account the shortcuts for other users to a URL requiring Flash and using IE9 execute fine GRRRRRRR.
    This is very frustrating.
On my pc Chrome aand Modzilla have no problems.
The childrens protective software I have however is based on IE.
Do you have any more suggestions?
My alternative is to downgrade IE9 to IE8 or 7 but that is also not an easy exercise ...
Thanks in advance for any input.
