Flash player opens new windows constantly

Hi,
this week my adobe flash started to open separately from my browser.
When I try to play a game or watch a video it opens the game/video outside the browser page.
I've already tried to uninstall it and install it again but the problem keeps happening.
My browser is Mozzila Firefox.
Could anybody help me?

Try resetting your Firefox profile (if you have't already).  Instructions to do this are partway down in this FAQ.

  • No Flash Player in New Windows XP Account

I am using Windows XP SP3 with all updates. An up to date version of Flash is installed in my own (Administrators) account and this works fine.
I have created a new account for someone else using my computer but when I attempt to access any on-line media, I get a message saying Flash is not installed.
I have tried to install it (from the new account) but get an error message saying I should refer to www.Adobe.com/Go/tn_19166 - but this page doesn't exist.
References elsewhere refer to uninstalling all versions of Flash and then reinstalling - but I am concerned that doing so will mean that while it may work on the new account, the problem will have shifted to my own (Administrator) account!
    Any suggestions/advice welcome.

Since posting the above, I returned to my own (Administrator) account to find Flash Player no longer worked and was giving prompts to be installed. I completely uninstalled then re-installed (from my Admin account). It works fine again there but, when I return to one of the other accounts, I get the prompts saying it needs to be installed!

Thanks for that suggestion. I tried it but I'm afraid it didn't work  for me though.
Hope you have better luck; also hope someone else makes a suggestion!
Just another twist that I've discovered. From my own Admin account, I can visit a site with IE8 and Flash Player is fine; if I visit the same site a moment later using FireFox, I am told it needs to be installed. So, to summarise, I can only use Flash Player on one (my own) account and only if I use IE8!

  • Flash player opening in new window even for flash in websites

Ok, so ive searched the net and not found a single person with my problem, if its something easy ive missed im sorry. Flash player opens in a new window for every bit of flash. Like if I go to hulu and start to watch a movie it will not load in browser but open a new window on the desktop and begin playing. If I go to a website that has a flash based set up like the air forces website just the backround will load and the flash thats supposed to be on the page tries to load in a new window like hulu but since its not a movie it doesnt work. It does this for everything flash, meaning if I go to a flash heavy website I see only the html parts and end up with tons of blank flash windows in my task bar I cant bring up. Im running firefox but it does it for ie too so I dont think its a browser issue.

That resolved the issue. Thank you so much.

  • 'Open New Windows In A New Tab' is not working when the popup is invoked by Flash

I surf a lot of porn sites. And some of them invoke a popup if you click the play button of their Flash player. Even though I have FF set to 'Open New Window In A New Tab', this isn't working if a window is invoked by a Flash object. For example, if I want to watch porn clip on tnaflix<i></i>.com and click the Play button, then a popup window of livejasmin<i></i>.com comes up. But it doesn't open in a new tab. It opens in a new window, even though I've set the above mentioned option. This is very annoying. Please, fix it.

Thanks for the responses and sorry for taking a while to get back. I have been looking around but not sure where is the "about: config page." When I click on Firefox "about" there is nothing to configure. What do I click on? TIA

  • My computer suddenly stopped allowing me to open new windows in firefox, how do I reset it to do this

  • Flash player opens muted by default on all browsers

In the past couple days I have experienced an annoying issue where flash player opens muted on all browsers.  This is WIndows 7 64-bit OS, the latest Flash Players, the latest browsers (IE, Firefox and Opera).  I can unmute but having to do so every time I open a new video is DANG annoying!  Is there any registry or hidden config settings that controls the opening state of audio for the flash player that I can modify...I have never seen this in years of using Flash Player...help please...
After reading more discussions and testing flash player on other sites that stream flash its obvious that the issues stems from YouTube...but this only coincides with the latest release of Flash Player.  This indicates that Flash Player is allowing stream content to manipulate controls on the player...so how can we prevent this????

Google has acknowledged a "glitch" in their YouTube code that is causing this. There is NOTHING that Flash Player has to do with it, and there is NOTHING that Flash Player can fix in YouTube's code. Google has stated that they are working on the fix this week.

  • If I load (apparently) any plugins or attachments, specifically tabmix and/0r smoothwheel, Firefox will no longer "open new window".

This never happened for years, then for the past 6 months or so I ended up having to use other browsers because I could only use one Firefox window. Yesterday I uninstalled, redid profile and viola, firefox opens new windows, until I try to install tabmix and/or smoothwheel, then I am once again not able to get a new firefox window.

  • Embedded links in emails won't open new window or tab in FF.

Running Mac OS X 10.6.6 and FF Version 3.6.12. I'm using Mail Version 4.4 as my email client and when I try and open an embedded link from an email, the link doesn't open a new tab or window. FF recognizes the link, but doesn't respond with a new tab or window. If I copy and paste the link into the browser the links work fine, so I feel like it's a setting or bug that has been changed somewhere somehow. This problem only happens when I try to click directly from the email. I've tried searching the preferences in both Mail and FF, but can't seem to find anything that fixes the problem. This issue started happening two weeks ago when I did the latest Mac OS X security update. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi everyone, I have Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I have been very very frustrated by this problem. [I could not create new windows, and anything that opens new windows, such as trying to see what Add-ons you have etc would not work]. I read about changing screen alignment to the top... I have one screen so the option does not exist. The above messages would not fix this problem. I searched hard and did find a solution in the end. I read stuff about removing Add-ons until the problem is fixed, but its simply not the case.
First of all open Firefox. next go to options: Help --- 'Restart with Add-ons disabled'. Tick the box for add-ons, restart firefox. Next go to Tools --- Add-ons. Next (In the Add-ons Manager' click on 'Plugins' on the left hand side pane. Look for the small blue writing that says 'Check to see if your plugins are up to date'.
Now notice it should say 'Missing Flash'. "For your safety, Firefox has disabled your outdated version of Flash. Please upgrade to the latest version". I followed this, reinstalled Flash and it now works as it always did, no problems. For people where the above fix didn't work, try this one out. Hope it helps people!
    :o)

  • I can not open new windows

When I´m on the internet I can not open new windows, not by ¨file new windows ¨ or by ctrl N. New tabs work but no new windows. It worls well with all other browsers.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
Your above posted system details show outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks.

  • Problem when open new window...

    Hi,
I have a flash website and one problem with it.
When I push on a button, it has to open new window.
    thumb1.onPress = function(){
    getURL("
    http://...............as.html",
    "_blank");
But I want that the opened window will be no resizable, no
location, no menubar, no scrollbar, no status, no toolbar, no
    fullscreen. Can actionscript do this?

    Hi, Motiejuss!
You can use the getURL to call a JS function.
    Just like
    getURL("javascript:window.open('
    http://...as.htm', 'foo', 'width=400
    height=400');");
But the best is to use ExternalInterface, in Flash 8.
    Bye,
    CaioToOn!

  • Flash Player 9 And Windows 98

I am current having a problem wwith flash player 9 under
windows 98. It seem that when I visit a site that uses Flash player
that Flash keeps using more and more of the system memory to the
point that the system resources will be exhausted, causing the PC
to slow and stop functioning properly. Once either all instances of
IE or Firefox are closed the resources are returned and my PC
operates "normally" again. Depending upon which web sites are
visited this problem can occour after as little as 5-10 minutes.
Returning to flash player 8 removed this problem. Are they any
known confiliction under windows 98 when using flash player 9?
Any help with this problem would be greatly
    appreciated.

well I managed to generate some good news. I attempted
installing the version 9 again and it didn't work so I went
throught the install list and located the subdirectory it was
attempting to ubsuccessfully install into and deleted the entire
subdirectory and reinstalled again. this time it correctly
installed version 9 and when I rebooted and ran the version checker
it finally responded with the correct version 9 within the correct
oS win 98. I think what had happened is I accidently clicked the
uopgrade icon and it overwrote version 9 with version 10 and
wouldn't allow me to rewrite the version 9 back into its original
location. anyways it is now working and I'll know better that to
authorize a version upgrade on the 98 system.
