Flash Player output in Captivate 5

I have a module built using Captivate 5 that works fine on my PC. I have Flash Player 10.0.32 installed on my PC.
Even though I set the output as Flash 9 when publishing the module, it does not work for people who have Flash Player version 9.0.16. Those who have 10.0.32 installed can move past the first screen of the module.
When Adobe says publish to "Flash Player 9" does it include this version of Flash Player 9??
Thanks.

When you select the Flash Player in Captivate you basically "target" that version. It is not included in the project and will not automatically be installed on the users machine.
The functionality is usually used when you publish stuff that goes into a corporate environment that use a lower version of the Flash Player.
In Flash - The different version of the Flash Player support different things. The higher the FP version the more stuff is supported. If I create something in Flash and use a function that is only available in Flash Player 10 then I will not be able to publish it to Flash Player 9.
Perhaps this detection does not work in Captivate 5 - did you use something special in your project? Any widgets, text animation or other out of the ordinary stuff?

  • Flash Player version with Captivate 7

The publish option (for swf) on Captivate 7 starts at Flash Player version 10.
Does that mean if you had content working perfectly well on Flash Player 9 in a previous version of Captivate, and you import it into Captivate 7 it now needs the learner to upgrade their Flash Player?
I am currently developing content (on Captivate 7) in a global company where forcing IT to upgrade all the flash to version 10 world-wide is out of the question.
So I'm tempted to edit the manifest and set the minimum Flash Player back to 9.
    Am I heading into trouble?
Or is there just some feature of Captivate 7 I need to avoid using?

Editing the manifest file of the SCORM package is NOT going to get you out of trouble if the SWFs in that package are not compatible with a Flash Player version below 10.  If Captivate 7 is using tags or code inside the SWFs it creates that can only work on FP10 then your end users would NEED to have FP10.
Since Captivate 7 has only just been released, you cannot have gone too far down the road of developing this content.  I would recommend you get this sorted out BEFORE you create mountains of content that your end users may not be able to view on their FP version. Upgrade an entire course to Captivate 7 format and test it thoroughly on end users from your company.  If it turns out your content doesn't run perfectly, then you may need to roll back to Cp6x to continue with this client.

  • Flash Player Output

I really need to separate...individualize...each persons output from Flash Player from a social collaborative network...social media. Video/audio chatroom specifically. How can I take that output from each user and say apply it to my mixer? I'll figure that out. But, how can I separate the "signal" packet...whatever it's called???
    Pleease help and advise.
    Thank you.
    Sincerely,
    David Sellers

Digging a little deeper I see that this particular "chat room" use A/V Chat(by Boonex)...they will be no help. Still it is obvious to me that it is possible since I can turn individuals video/audio On or Off.
    Some kind of "interupt"???

  • Captivate 7 - Flash Player Error Window also minimizes Captivate Output

    Hi,
When I publish a file in Captivate 7.0, the typical Adobe Error Message window appears:
I usually just click OK and my project plays just fine.  In Captivate 7.0 when I click OK, the Adobe Flash window still closes, but now My Captivate project minimizes to the taskbar instead of staying open.  The end user has to retrieve it from the taskbar in order to view it.  I have no other IE windows open and I also have the latest version of Flash installed (11.??).  Do I need to do something to the standard.htm file?  Thanks!

    Hi there,
Can you please add your C:\ drive as a trusted flash player location and see it resolves the issue or not?
    Thanks,

  • Any test web sites to insure browser/Flash player/other is adequate for all Captivate content

My prior subject header was a little confusing, so I hope it's okay I start over again and state more clearly what I need.
I have hundreds of users accessing Adobe Captivate 5.5 training.  Many users have no trouble viewing the content.  SOME users have trouble, specifically when viewing a video inserted into the training.  It just won't play for them.  These users have different browsers, so it would seem the type of browser is not an issue.
What I am hoping for is ...
a web site that lets users know they have everything needed to run any content within a Captivate session.  For example, as you know, Adobe has a web site to inform the user what version of Flash Player they have (if any).  I would be great to have a site that would let the user know if they meet the minimum requirements (not just Flash Player) to participate successfully in a training.
Is anyone aware of such a site?  Or have ideas on how to build one?
Thank you, and I'm sorry for not being clearer on the prior post.
    Best regards,
    Mark

Captivate outputs (generally) as Flash. So as long as users have a recent version of the Flash player, they should technically be able to play back the content.
However, of course, online delivery depends on the user's internet connection. What if you're feeding them video and their connection is slow?
For similar concerns, we point our users to speedtest.net and ask them to post their results. Sometimes that helps illustrate their slow connection means a slow video delivery.
And, of course, the older the computer, the less-fast it'll be in rendering the course. My oldest computer, used occasionally and with frustration by my 5 y/old, plays Flash sites horribly - and it's a 1.6ghz computer with 512mb RAM and XP...with latest browsers and Flash player. You can always ask for their computer spec, but that's not an easy thing to determine via software/website.
So you can create a simple 'minimum requirements' page that you can point to...but one that actually does a diagnostic...well, aside from simple Flash player/version detection (which is fairly simple), that's a complex task.

  • Flash Player and Captivate 5 files

So the newest version of FLASH makes the output from the newest version of Captivate broken.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/879/cpsid_87992.html
My question is, will the NEXT FLASH update fix the problem?  My organization has dozens of elearning courses built in Captivate 5 that would require a lengthy republishing process to get them back into our LMS, I am hoping instead the Adobe fixes its own mistake with the next version of Flash so we can just have our users avoid the version of Flash that caused the problem to begin with.
Any help/answers would be most appreciated!
    Thank you,
    Matthew

You can easily find out by downloading the beta version of Flash Player 10.2.

  • Unable to preview published captivate 6 swf in flash player

When I try to view a published preview of a Captivate 6 project, I am directed to the download Flash player page. I have the pugin installed for my browsers already. I am able to open my local .swf files with Flash Player.
When I click Yes on  the "Publish completed successfully. Do you wish to view the output?" message I am sent here:Adobe Flash Player Install for all versions.
How do I set Flash Player to open the preview files?

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Which browser you are using and you may try to add your projects to Flash Player Global Settings.
If you have Flash Player version lower than 10.3, you can manipulate the settings from Adobe Flash Player Settings Manager in the Global Security Settings panel. It can be done using these simple steps:
Select the Always allow radio button on the top to allow security exceptions. This control is marked as "1" in the image below
From the Edit Locations... drop down box, select "Add location..." option to bring up a dialog box. The drop down box is marked as "2" in the image below
Now select Browse for folder... and browse to the location where you are keeping the chart SWF files
After confirming your selection you should see the path of the exception added in area "3" of the image below
Please let me know if that works.
    Regards,
    Rajeev.

  • Captivate 4 AS2 Text Entry Box not working with Flash Player 11

I am having issues with text entry boxes not working at all in flash 11. I am using Captivate 4 and exporting an AS2 swf. When you get to the slide you can type but you cannot see anything nor does the button or keystroke to move on. Also there is no cursor. Any ideas?

You said it is not working with Flash 11, so does that mean you tested with previous version and that worked?
While publishing choose Flash player as 9 and publish that, verify if that plays in a compatible web browser.
AS 2 is a legacy scripting, it has been said not too be supported with even Flash Player 10 --
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AS2LCR/Flash_10.0/help.html?content=Part2_AS2_LangRef_1.html
I believe if you switch back to version 9 while publish your project, it should work.

  • Captivate 4 will not open with latest Flash Player installed?!

    Hi,
I've seen this question already, but there wasn't any working answer.
When I launch Captivate, I get the warning box saying flash player "is not installed or its an older version" - with an OK button which just launches IE to get the player, and closes captivate...
I had beta player 10.1, so obviously it isn't older - but still, I uninstalled it, got the version (10.0.45.2) on the adobe page captivate sent me too and... Captivate still will not work!
I've unistalled the plugin twice, rebooted, checked the version and still Captivate will not launch...still the same message
So how on earth can I even launch Captivate?? Do I really have to roll back to flash 9 or something?? I wouldn't mind, but I don't even use IE!
Any help appreciated (esp. from Adobe!)
    Cheers.

I just ran into this problem with Captivate as well. I uninstalled Flash Player 10.1 by going here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
I then downloaded an archived Flash Player here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html
It seems the main installer does not incorporate the Active-X version of Flash that Internet Explorer needs. There should be several Windows installers in the download. For example, I used Flash Player 10. The following Windows files were in the package:
    •    flashplayer10r45_2_win.exe
    •    flashplayer10r45_2_winax.exe
    •    flashplayer10r45_2_win_sa.exe
Install the first one and second. The second file is the Active-X Flash version (I’m thinking “winax” means Windows Active-X), which Captivate needs to run. I don’t think you need to install the last file (“win_sa”, I’m thinking the “sa” stands for stand-alone).

  • I suddenly cannot startup Captivate 4 for reason Flash Player for Internet Explorer not installed or older version, but I have verified that Flash Player 16,0,0,235 is installed. Please help.

    Hi,
I haven't used my Adobe Captivate 4 for a bit, but when I try to start it up, I get the following message:
"The Flash Player for Microsoft Internet Explorer, is not installed or its an older version.
You will automatically be redirected to the Adobe website to download the latest Flash Player.
Please note that the Adobe Captivate cannot be used until the Flash Player is installed."
Even if I click the OK button and reinstall the Flash Player, I still get the same message, when I try to startup Captivate.
I have verified that I'm running Flash player 16,0,0,235, which is supposed to be the latest version.
I'm running Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 11.
    Please help.

The problem is that your version of Captivate 4 needs to be updated with a patch that Adobe used to supply.  (I don't have a link anymore to it.)
Captivate 4 was unable to recognise Flash Player versions beyond a certain number.  It gives you a misleading  error message that makes it look like you have the wrong version of Flash Player.  But the real problem is that Captivate needs to be patched to recognise the latest FP versions.
I'm hoping that someone from the Adobe Captivate team will chime in here and give us another link to download the patch.  Otherwise, you really might be forced to upgrade to a newer version of Cp.  However, if your current projects are being built in Cp4, your next issue will be that if you purchase Cp8 it will NOT be able to upgrade your Cp4 projects.  You'd need to download a trial version of Cp5 or 5.5, and do a two-step upgrade.

  • Captivate 4 & Flash Player

Captivate 4 - have installed the newest Flash player 11.4.402.265 and now have an error message when trying to start Captivate.  Error message is "The Flash Player for Microsoft Internet Explorer, is not installed or its an older version".
Can someone please help me to resolve this issue?

You need to patch Captivate 4.

  • Is there a fix for Captivate 4 with Flash Player 16 Installed?

Captivate 4 is not recognizing Flash Player since we upgraded to version 16. Which means we can not launch Captivate 4, is there a fix or a timeline for a fix on this issue?

  • Captivate Project Information window on Flash player

I published a Captivate Project as an executable file for
Macintosh. When I click on the SWF file, it opens up in the Flash
player, and not in my browser. Also, the Project Information window
does not go away, even when I click on the close button. Some of
the buttons on the navigation bar don't work either, like Exit and
Forward. Has anyone come across this problem?

The purpose of beta software is to find potential problems.  You have just found one, and you should report it back to the beta team.
If you think it is a Flash Player bug, report it at https://bugs.adobe.com/flashplayer/
If Flash Player works fine on the release version of Firefox, then I suggest that you reinstall that version.

  • Adobe Captivate 4 not detecting latest Flash Player

    Hi,
I just put together a new laptop, and insatlled all the normal programs/drivers - flash player, adobe reader, etc.
I installed Flash Player 10 from your website, and received the confirmation flash screen "Congratulations you now have the latest..."
I installed Adobe Captivate 4 - Trial Version from your website without any problems downloading.
This is not my first attempt at installing/un-installing/re-installing both Captivate 4 and Flash Player 10 on this computer - I'm on my fourth attempt at reinstalling both programs.
I am running Vista Ultimate x86.
This computer meets all system requirements by Adobe Captivate 4.
Is this a problem with Captivate, Flash Player, or (doubtful) my computer?
    Thanks!

    Lilybiri,
This is odd, I am certain that I read an addendum on the Flash 10 download page last week, it explained that the incompatibility problem was fixed.
That message is no longer present today.
Other than that, some security changes were also made to Flash 10 that may impact your work. See this link: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/fplayer10_security_changes_print.html#hea d32
To check your current version go here: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
I am using version 10.0.32.18. I have run many compatibility tests and haven't found problems with this version of Flash.
If version 10 is causing problems for you, uninstall by going here: http://kb.adobe.com/go/tn_14157
    Some better instructions I found:
    Uninstalling Adobe Flash player..
    0. Go to this page:

    and press enter.
    8. Click Yes.
    9. Click Close.
    10. Repeat steps 7-9 once. Close the Command window.

and drag the bar all the way to the right to Unlimited
    25. Close the browser.
    26. Flash should be working, if not, wait for the site to update to be compatible (or try using previous versions of flash player at your own risk).

  • When trying to run captivate 4 getting a message saying i need to install lastest version of flash player

just downloaded captivate 4 when trying to open I get a message saying that I need to install the latest version of flash player...which I already had I have uninstalled and reinstalled I have also made sure that it is enabled and working any ideas?

You need to downgrade Flash player, not to upgrade. CP4 is over 5 years old, will not be happy with the latest Flash players.
