Flash Player Problem-Have Tried 9 Fixes & NO LUCK

I am currently using IE 8 and FF 3.0.10.  I have a Vista Home Premium OS.  My Flash is working fine except for video on a couple of sites.  This happens the same with either browser.  The problem I am having is the video is frozen or not showing at all.  When I try to pull up the Flash setting menu, it too freezes.  The odd part is the Flash banners on the sites will run fine right next to the video box.  The two sites with issues are ESPN.COM and IGN.COM.  On ESPN, a larger video will not play, it will show a frozen still and have a white arrow with a white circle around it.  Yet, the audio will play.   On the smaller video boxes, just a black box.  On IGN, the video will not show at all, just a black box as with ESPN.  Again, on both sites Flash banners and ads will play fine.
Here is what I have tried, mostly due to recommendations, with no luck:
1.  I went to the Adobe test Flash video, and it says Flash is installed correctly.
2.  IE 8 and Firefox have both been updated.
3.  Vista is updated.
4.  I ran a Windows Repair, no problems detected.
5.  I have uninstalled Flash with Adobe's program, reinstalled it, no luck.
6.  I tried the install hidden within the Flash file menu.
7.  I downloaded the codec fix.
8.  I read that some issues could be graphics driver related, so I uninstalled and reinstalled them.
9.  I have saved all installers to the desktop and loaded them from there.
On this page someone else has the same problem with no luck.

The download does not install Flash. You should find the downloaded file in your Downloads folder. Double-click on the .dmg file then double-click on the installer icon once the disc image has been mounted.

  • My Adobe flash keeps crashing. Have tried all fixes.

My Adobe flash add on keeps crashing; I have done everything short of uninstalling Firefox. Please help.

Is this an "in plug-in" crash where you see a crash error inside a gray box in the page?
I know you said you have tried all fixes, but if you wouldn't mind ticking off the following just in case:
    (1) If you have any recorders/downloaders that interact with Flash media make sure they are as up-to-date as possible, or disable them temporarily.
    (2) Disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin. See this support article from Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues
    (3) Disable the Flash plugin's protected mode feature. This involves creating or editing a settings file. The following pages/posts provide different ways to do that:
    * Adobe support article under the heading "Last Resort": [http://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?]
    * Manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/968190?page=5#answer-509209
    * Batch file to automate the manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/982093#answer-518078
Flash needs to completely unload from memory (restarting Firefox might help) before this would take effect.
    Any improvement?

Thanks so much but none of that helped.  It was driving me crazy because it would back up another external drive.  I just changed the name of the drive from iPhoto/iTunes Library to Media Libraries and IT WORKED!! I guess for some reason it didn't like the drive being called iPhoto or iTunes ???? I don't understand but I have tried so many solutions and exchanging things out but the name change did it????!!!
Thank you for your help and replying to this.  Guess I made my own issue!

  • Flash player problem in windows 8.1

I am setting up a new Laptop as a gift and am having issues with Flash player in Internet Explorer 11,  Windows 8.1. I cannot use Facebooks bulk picture uploader. I receive a notice that Flash Player is not installed. When I go to the Find Flash Player Version page the movie plays and the dynamic information box shows I have version 11.9.900.152 installed in Windows 8.1 64 bit but is shows none in browser installed field. My IE version is 11.0.9600.16438 with update version 11.0.1. I have tried every fix I could find on Windows forum; reseting IE, disabling and enabling flash add on, disabling and enabling Enhanced Protection, disabling and enabling activex filtering. What else can I try?

This is a known problem with Internet Exploder 11 and Facebook, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • What do I do about this adobe flash player problem

On a vehicle website and I can't play a video or run any application because it says I need to get adobe flash player? I tried to do that and it's not letting me. Should I just download an app to fix the problem or what?

    There is no app.
As has been discussed here over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, Adobe does not make a flash player and likely never will.
Do a forum search and you will find countless posts on this.

  • When did these flash player problems begin?

So, I had a computer running Win98 and IE6, which worked
great until Flash Player 8 autodownloaded about 4 months ago,
causing the beginning of an extreme headache. Several
communications with Adobe support (they eventually stopped
responding) over several weeks went nowhere None of the fixes
suggested by them, nor the ones here worked. Countless manhours led
me to think it was time to bite the bullet, buy a new computer. So,
as of two months ago I have a new computer running XP and IE6 with
SP2. I didn't know it until today, when I started having crashes,
but I have Flash Player 7.0.19.0. When i go to Adobe's Test page,
both Shockwave and Player windows show the animations (and no
    crash).
On certain pages, which I believe have flash content, I get
the "IE has experienced a problem and must close" message. It
specifically mentions the flash.ocx file as the offender. It is
    repeatable when visiting certain pages.
So, before I jump into the abyss of attempting to fix this, I
am wondering when these types of problems began. I have been using
Windows and IE since 1998 with no trouble until this year. I hoped
moving to a new computer would solve my Flash compatibility
problems. Could the root problem be new types of spyware, etc that
change something in the registry? Some of the fixes suggested by
Adobe were regarding keys changed in the registry. Unfortunately
those fixes didn't work (in Win98).
Finally, does anyone know if attempting to fix flash player
under XP is any easier than 98? Also, I will admit I may have
visited some sites recently that downloaded some adware, etc. Any
suggestions on cleaning that may solve the flash player problem? I
know this post is all over the map - I don't know where to begin...
    Thanks in advance, Don

  • Flash 10 - I have tried everything!

I have been trying (unsuccessfully) for 2 weeks to install Flash 10 (following a prompt to update - wish I hadn't now!). I have scoured the forums and tried everything mentioned so far. I'm running XP and IE8. Started off with the "failed to register" problem. Uninstalled using the uninstall download then reinstalled using the downloadable installer then had the tn-19166 error. Can anyone help please

Hello eidnolb and thanks for the quick reply!
you're probably right to be sticking to old things that work, but yes, I did install the october and november windows updates, even installed 5 updates since I published my post, among them the "Update for Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility View List for Windows Vista" and "Security Update for Jscript 5.8 for Windows Vista" which sounded promising to address the issue discussed here (but no). I even updated my java, by downloading the latest package from their site (where I was told my version was old), as suggested by someone in a discussion related to the flash player issue, which turned out to be not such a good idea as java is now taking 50% of cpu and almost freezing ie, which will be another issue that I'll have to deal with later...
My installed adobe programs are "Flash Player 10 ActiveX", "Reader 9.2" and "Shockwave Player 11.5" (which I also downloaded following a recommendation in a discussion related to this issue, but to no avail).
Adobe add-ons are "PDF Link Helper" and "PDF Reader" by "Adobe Systems, Incorporated" (with comma) and "Shockwave Flash Object" by Adobe Systems Incorporated (without the comma - don't know if it makes any sense but ie8 lists them in two different categories), which is the Flash10c.ocx version 10.0.32.18 (latest). (All enabled). Before there was also the "Get atlcom Class" add-on under "Adobe Sytems Incorporated" (without comma) like frustratedcarol, which apparently is a feature of FlashPlayer 9 ("the add-on you have to download in order to get adobe reader 9.1" according to luis100123 in this discussion http://forums.adobe.com/message/1924579), but after running the uninstall_flash_player.exe several times it finally disappeared.
The version 10 Flash Player I have now installed (during several attempts to repair possible installation errors, as suggested by adobe, though nothing was actually indicating I had had any installation errors, appart from the fact that flash player won't play internet radio streams in ie) was installed by using install_flash_player_10_active_x.msi, Install Flash Player 10 ActiveX.exe and install_flash_player_ax.exe (all downloaded standalone install-devices found through links in discussions about this issue) AND I have gone into the system32/macomed/flash folder to do a manual (and "run as administrator" as with the others) install of FlashUtil10c.exe, as was also suggested in sveral threads. (All this didn't help me more then it did frustratedcarol or the many others still searching for the solution). (Haven't gone back to do an online installation from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/).
Concerning possible conflicts with other add-ons, I have tried deactivating ALL add-ons except for the Shokwave Flash Object, it didn't change anything about the jolting radio streams.
Must have spent more then 10 hours on this issue now. If you can figure it out, you're a hero!!!
    many thanks for your concern!

  • Adobe Flash Player Problem: "Movie Not Loaded"

    new user to mac.
i'm getting more and more frustrated with this computer.
what's bugging me the most right now is
i am unable to view videos on certain websites.
    rather than showing the content,
    a white box appears.
when i right click on the white box,
it says "movie not loaded" (in gray) and adobe flash player 9 (in black).
i can't click on the gray line.
when i click on the black line, it brings me to the adobe website and tells me adobe flash player 9 has been successfully installed.
i am fairly sure this has nothing to do with heavy traffic.
any insights on how to resolve this issue?
    cheers.
