Flash player problem in windows 8.1

I am setting up a new Laptop as a gift and am having issues with Flash player in Internet Explorer 11,  Windows 8.1. I cannot use Facebooks bulk picture uploader. I receive a notice that Flash Player is not installed. When I go to the Find Flash Player Version page the movie plays and the dynamic information box shows I have version 11.9.900.152 installed in Windows 8.1 64 bit but is shows none in browser installed field. My IE version is 11.0.9600.16438 with update version 11.0.1. I have tried every fix I could find on Windows forum; reseting IE, disabling and enabling flash add on, disabling and enabling Enhanced Protection, disabling and enabling activex filtering. What else can I try?

This is a known problem with Internet Exploder 11 and Facebook, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
Firefox (from Mozilla)
Opera (from Opera)
Safari (from Apple)
Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • How do I disable the hardware acceleration in Flash player on a Windows XP machine remotely?

How do I disable the hardware acceleration in Flash player on a Windows XP machine remotely?
I have a few hundred computers running Adobe Flash Player.
The operation system is Windows XP.
They are Compaq 6005 desktop PC’s, with an inbuilt ATI radeon HD 4200 video card.
We have a persistent issue where viewing a flash video (e.g. something on youtube) causes the video card driver to crash.  You are left with no video signal to the monitor.  Audio continues and the computer still responds to commands. This only happens when watching flash video.
    We have tried:
    Updating flash plugin (numerous versions)
Updating the video card drivers (we have tried the last three video card driver versions, including the HP drivers and ATI drivers)
Updating the browsers (this problem happens with IE8/9 and Firefox10/11/12)
There seems to be two ways to work round this issue.  One is to disable the video acceleration in the ‘troubleshoot’ section in the advanced part of the display settings area in windows.  The other way is to start a flash video, right click, go to ‘settings’ and untick the box marked ‘Enable Hardware Acceleration’.
Doing either of these things allows the user to view flash videos with no apparent issues.
Is there a way to disable the hardware acceleration in Flash without visiting the PC?  Perhaps an undocumented option in the mms.cfg file? I understand that you can use an option to skip the video card check, and so force hardware acceleration on, can you do the opposite?
    Thanks in advance
    Daniel.

    Hi.
I have had over 200 views, and no suggestions as to how this could be fixed.
I have also posted in the general flash forum, that thread has fewer views.
If I should put this question in a different forum please let me know which one.
If what I am asking is not possible is there a mechanism for escalating this issue or requesting a feature for the next version of flash?
    Thanks.

  • Downloading Adobe Flash Player Problem

When I attempt to dowload the flash player I get a window of four possible problems that I might encounter with the download and that is all that happens. What is causing this to occur.  I need to download the flash player, but this window stops any further activity

If you don't get a response here (besides this one) you should try posting in the Flash Player forum...

  • When did these flash player problems begin?

So, I had a computer running Win98 and IE6, which worked
great until Flash Player 8 autodownloaded about 4 months ago,
causing the beginning of an extreme headache. Several
communications with Adobe support (they eventually stopped
responding) over several weeks went nowhere None of the fixes
suggested by them, nor the ones here worked. Countless manhours led
me to think it was time to bite the bullet, buy a new computer. So,
as of two months ago I have a new computer running XP and IE6 with
SP2. I didn't know it until today, when I started having crashes,
but I have Flash Player 7.0.19.0. When i go to Adobe's Test page,
both Shockwave and Player windows show the animations (and no
    crash).
On certain pages, which I believe have flash content, I get
the "IE has experienced a problem and must close" message. It
specifically mentions the flash.ocx file as the offender. It is
    repeatable when visiting certain pages.
So, before I jump into the abyss of attempting to fix this, I
am wondering when these types of problems began. I have been using
Windows and IE since 1998 with no trouble until this year. I hoped
moving to a new computer would solve my Flash compatibility
problems. Could the root problem be new types of spyware, etc that
change something in the registry? Some of the fixes suggested by
Adobe were regarding keys changed in the registry. Unfortunately
those fixes didn't work (in Win98).
Finally, does anyone know if attempting to fix flash player
under XP is any easier than 98? Also, I will admit I may have
visited some sites recently that downloaded some adware, etc. Any
suggestions on cleaning that may solve the flash player problem? I
know this post is all over the map - I don't know where to begin...
    Thanks in advance, Don

    Hi
Which browser is giving you the error? Is it IE11?
Are you saying when you go to Adobe's website and download flash player it gives you an error?
Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

  • Flash Player 9 And Windows 98

I am current having a problem wwith flash player 9 under
windows 98. It seem that when I visit a site that uses Flash player
that Flash keeps using more and more of the system memory to the
point that the system resources will be exhausted, causing the PC
to slow and stop functioning properly. Once either all instances of
IE or Firefox are closed the resources are returned and my PC
operates "normally" again. Depending upon which web sites are
visited this problem can occour after as little as 5-10 minutes.
Returning to flash player 8 removed this problem. Are they any
known confiliction under windows 98 when using flash player 9?
Any help with this problem would be greatly
    appreciated.

well I managed to generate some good news. I attempted
installing the version 9 again and it didn't work so I went
throught the install list and located the subdirectory it was
attempting to ubsuccessfully install into and deleted the entire
subdirectory and reinstalled again. this time it correctly
installed version 9 and when I rebooted and ran the version checker
it finally responded with the correct version 9 within the correct
oS win 98. I think what had happened is I accidently clicked the
uopgrade icon and it overwrote version 9 with version 10 and
wouldn't allow me to rewrite the version 9 back into its original
location. anyways it is now working and I'll know better that to
authorize a version upgrade on the 98 system.

  • Is Flash Player Supported in Windows 7?

Is the most recent version of Flash Player supported in Windows 7?

An FYI for anyone thinking of installing the Flash player on Windows 7:
Installing the Firefox version of Flash was easy. Installing the Internet Explorer version was more difficult. The Adobe website crashes Internet Explorer 8.
The only way to install the Flash player (and the Shockwave player) on Internet Explorer 8 is to set Internet Explorer to Compatibility mode.
Note: I am using the Release Candidate (build 7100) of Windows 7. The problem I described may be fixed by the time Windows 7 is released to general availability.

  • Adobe Flash Player Problem: "Movie Not Loaded"

    new user to mac.
i'm getting more and more frustrated with this computer.
what's bugging me the most right now is
i am unable to view videos on certain websites.
    rather than showing the content,
    a white box appears.
when i right click on the white box,
it says "movie not loaded" (in gray) and adobe flash player 9 (in black).
i can't click on the gray line.
when i click on the black line, it brings me to the adobe website and tells me adobe flash player 9 has been successfully installed.
i am fairly sure this has nothing to do with heavy traffic.
any insights on how to resolve this issue?
    cheers.
