Y use WIN7 PRO 64 Bits and recurring updates (2 to 5 times per day) of flash player are repeated in spite of to have notched " not to ask updates more", is unbearable and touches many people in my entourage! What to make??? !!!

I used to get this all the time on my Win 7 machine with YouTube. I uninstalled both the Flash Player AND Shockwave plugins, and then redownloaded and reinstalled them, Shockwave (FULL Installer) first, and then Flash Player. I haven't seen the error or the freeze up since.

QT updater pops up multiple times per day, ONLY option is QT + iTunes

Problem:
Recently the QT updater has decided to pop up not just once every few days, not just once a day, but from one to a dozen times a day. This is SO annoying!!! I disabled QTTASK in startup, but if I run QT then QTTASK is re-enabled!! ARGGGHHH!!!
Questions:
1) How do I run Quicktime WITHOUT it re-enabling QTTASK?
Also, in the pop-up, only one update option is offered - QT plus iTunes. Perhaps others like and use iTunes, but I don't and I don't want to install it!!!! EVER!!! So...
2) If QTTASK isn't going to give me an option to JUST update Quicktime, How do I PERMANENTLY disable QTTASK? (what's the point in having it if I have to go out to the Apple web site and manually update?)

Thanks for the response! I changed the settings, and checked in msconfig to verify that I had disabled qttask (I had). I rebooted, and for a while all appeared well. About 12 hours after the reboot I played a .mov file, and shortly afterward I started getting prompted to update for the iTunes and QT update <big sigh>.
I certainly hope Apple doesn't force iTunes upon us. I had two disasters caused by iTunes, and I wonder if my qttask problems aren't related to the iTunes problems. In short, iTunes didn't like the Adobe software already on the box (a very expensive suite). I'm sorry, but I need the Adobe software a few orders of magnitute more than I need iTunes, so I cancelled the iTunes installation. iTunes apparently doesn't like that, and I had to revert to the system restore point I made just before starting the install of iTunes. Only apparently something from iTunes survived (how does that happen?), as at the next boot iTunes popped up to tell me my installation was incomplete at that there was a conflict with this and that and that (all Adobe). So I went back to a system restore point from 3 days before the attempt at installing iTunes. Same thing happened. Since trying to cancel the iTunes installer didn't work, I killed it with task manager. That was a month ago, and then last week the qt updater annoyance began. Maybe a complete uninstall of all Apple software is needed? Any suggestions on how to completely remove whatever portions of iTunes are left behind?

This is some standard guidance that addresses the most common issues with the Flash Player plugin. I'm sure you've seen some of it before, but just in case:
(1) If you have any recorders/downloaders that interact with Flash media make sure they are as up-to-date as possible, or disable them temporarily.
(2) Disable hardware graphics acceleration in Firefox and in Flash
(A) In Firefox, un-check the box here and restart:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"

I have a similar problem than sam6sam had except that I'm on Safari. After the Mountain Lion security update I did last Friday, I had to update Flash. I installed .149, deinstalled, restarted, reinstalled .149 about 2 dozens times and it didn't work. Yesterday I saw that you had .167 and thought "finally they will have fixed this issue". After doing the same deinstall restart and install routine another dozen time, I give up!

It looks like it's installed. When I go into System Preference Flash Player shows "Plug-in version 11.6.602.167 is installed.", yet when I want to see a flash video it tells me that I don't have the software and need to install it. My Safari Preferences allow for Pop-up and Enable Plug-in. My "open 'safe' files after downloading" is clicked.
I've search all of Adobe, Apple and other geeky website's "help" area, and nothing I tried worked, including the "sudo" commands in the terminal (the answer to this one is "command not found").
I'm really frustrated by this. There is certainly something that I overlooked, but I cannot figure it out. Help!

Does Flash Player auto-update have the ability to update systems when a user does not have administrator access on their device?
What will the results be if we enable Flash Player auto-update on OSX and Windows systems where:
1. Users are log in with accounts that DO NOT have administrator access; and
2. Internet access is granted via a proxy server, but only when a user with NO administrator credentials is logged in.

So there's no way to completely turn off user notification AND allow background updates unless you use a locally hosted update server? That's too bad.
Reading page 26 of the manual, I see there's an mms.cfg file that you can configure, with an option SilentAutoUpdateEnable, which is described on page 32:

So you're saying that even if we enable this option (but don't configure a local server), users may still be prompted some or all of the time?

Recently, when I downloaded the new Flash Player, I can only use flash player in one tab at a time. This is only in firefox. I'll open youtube, and the visual and sound both play perfectly. I open up a new tab, begin using a flash website in that tab, and the youtube sound is quiet, only the visual continues to play. I need to multitask with flash sometimes, and this is a big problem for me. Help!

By default, Flash 11.3 and higher will spin up a lot of distinct processes. You should be able to get quite a cacophony going.
Have you ever done any troubleshooting that involves changing how Firefox works with plugin-container.exe or the Flash player's protected mode?
Often it is helpful to disable hardware graphics acceleration in Firefox and in Flash:

Unrelated, but you can remove the Java Console extensions unless you are a Java developer (and even then, you probably don't need the old ones):

When you have installed the latest version of Flash, relaunch Safari and test.
If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then in System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
You can also try these illustrated instructions from C F McBlob to perform a full "clean install", which will resolve the "Blocked Plug-in" message when trying to update via the GUI updater from Adobe.

Flash Player Not Updating?

About 10 minutes ago, I checked the Plugin Checker to make sure all my plugins were up to date. It said that my Flash Player needed updating, so I did that.
However, I checked the Plugin Checker again after downloading to make sure it went through, it didn't, and still lists Flash as Vulnerable/In Need of an update: http://i.imgur.com/tiA64Ji.png
Checking Flash's About page, it seems that I have the correct version?: http://i.imgur.com/RL7rdif.png This version is also the same one listed in the download page: http://i.imgur.com/6xLDOOU.png
So am I up to date or not?

It is a bit of a headache right now as 16.0.0.296 is vulnerable actually however Adobe has yet to release yet another update to try and fix critical exploits that is in older versions.

As a result, client machines relying on the auto-update process are not being patched. The client machines themselves appear to be checking properly - they have internet access and fpsaud appears to be working properly.
There's really no point to having the auto-update facility if you're not going to maintain it. You might as well just pull it out of the product.

This is as designed. The silent auto update mechanism is not updated until 30 days after a major release. However, the older style UI notifications are sent out within 7 days (and a system restart). Hopefully the FAQ below explains how this works.
