Flash player requirement - version number - aggregator

I've recently, using Aggregator (Captivate 5), generated an aggregator swf as part of a training programme. Each swf brought into Aggregator had been (previously) published using a Publish Preference of Flash Player Version 9.
There appears to be no option for choosing the Flash Player version for the Aggregator output swf. So should Aggregator take the Flash Player version preferences from the master movie?
The reason I'm concerned is that one of our clients using one of our training programmes built using Aggregator (Captivate 5) in this manner has raised an issue - they are saying that on running the Aggregator output swf that it is demanding the installation of Flash Player 10.1
I'm hoping that our client has misinterpreted a dialogue message that is suggesting that there is a new version of flash player available but they have not captured the message for us to see.
Can anyone throw any light on this matter?
Regards,
Henry

Yes, that is much better.
However, there is something very wrong with with the download site.
Starting at http://www.adobe.com/, I selected the link http://www.adobe.com/go/EN_US-H-GET-FLASH for Adobe Flash Reader.  I unchecked the checkbox for Google Chrome and selected the Download Now button.  The page repeated but with a promotion for McAfee.  I unchecked the checkbox and selected the Download Now button.  The page repeated with the promotion for Chrome again.
I tried the whole thing but spoofed Firefox.  That is how I got the install_flashplayer10_mssd_aih.exe file.
I have never had this problem before.  It is obvious to me that (1) the site is incorrectly sniffing for "Firefox" instead of "Gecko", and (2) it is delivering an incorrect installer file.

  • Why do some versions of Flash Player require a new DMG to be downloaded through a web browser?

Why do some versions of Adobe Flash Player require a new DMG on OS X to be downloaded through a web browser? It is an annoyance to users to have to go through downloading a new DMG and installing through this method. Why can this not be an in-place download and install just as the normal delta updates?
In addition, is there no way for Adobe to implement a new update process where the browsers are not required to be shutdown if a person is updating? It would make more sense to put things in place for the user and have these new values put into effect when the browser is finally shutdown. Unless the browser is shutdown, whatever version is already installed and running will continue. Is that some sort of privacy problem for Adobe?

First point: I don't know why they don't just have the PKG file for download, other than it's harder for unscrupulous folks to make a DMG that will pass the "Gatekeeper" checksum.
Second point: Since the browser uses the Flash Player Plugin, trying to update it while the browser is running would be akin to trying to change your oil while driving down the freeway at 70MPH. And then there's the whole "admin password needed" thing, that would prevent "blind updates".
You can always download the offline installer: Flash Player (For Mac OS X) and run it whenever you want.

  • Flash Player 9 is installed but I get a message "Macromedia Flash player required"?

I have installed the last 9th version of Adobe Flash Player.
Few weeks ago I had no problems with my browser when visiting
websites with Flash content and it was the same 9th version of
    Flash.
But now, when visiting some websites I get a message
"Macromedia Flash Player required" (but not Adobe Flash Player).
I've reset all settings in "Internet Options" dialog. I've updated
the last version of Flash Player. I have no problems when visiting
websites with Flash content with Opera, Mozilla Firefox and
Netscape Navigator. The only problem is with Internet explorer. And
what's strange? When I visit, for instance, www.lamborghini.it or
www.flash-game.net, there are no problems, but when I visit
www.dodge.be or I want to read some Course material in
    http://cisco.netacad.net I get
    that message.
I don't think that the problem is that Dodge or Cisco use
files of old version of Flash. Because, as I've already said, I had
the same version before, installed on my PC, and I had no problems.

Probably you get that message because the flash plugin
checker they implemented is checking for a specific version and not
    higher then x.

  • Hulu not working on mac OS 10.6.8 with Safari 5.1.8 after updating Flash Player to version 11.7.700.169.  YOu tube works fine. Any ideas?

I recently updated Flash PLayer to version 11.7.700.169 on my imac OSX 10.6.8 with Safari 5.1.8 browser and no longer get hulu to work. Scrren is black but audio is playing. You Tube continues to work fine.
    Any ideas?

JavaScript and Cookies are enabled.  my cookies list shows at least 3 associated with hulu.  Funny thing is, if I grab the up/down control bar on right side of screen with my mouse, then hulu plays in a somewhat chopped frame by frame. As soon as I let go, the frame freezes yet audio portion continues.
I don't know what a munged Hulu cookie is, however.

  • I can't download/install Adobe Flash Player update version 11.7.700.169.

I have tried several times to download and install Adobe Flash Player update version 11.7.700.169 without success. My OS is Windows XP with SP3 and my web browser is Internet Explorer. My current Adobe Flash Player version is 11.6.602.180. In the Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player IE window I unchecked the checkbox "Yes, install Chrome as my default browser and Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer - optional"  and clicked [UpdateNow]. Then I followed the installation instuctions. When I tried to run the installer I got an Internet Explorer Script Error dialog box.
I then clicked yes on the Scrippt Error dialog box and it closed. The new version did not install. I still have the old version.
    What am I doing wrong?

Download and run the offline installer(s) from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#mai n-pars_header (under the heading Progress bar hangs...).

Via Javascripting. Look for Flash detection kits at the
    Adobe/Maromedia web
site and also at Internet search engines.
As well this forum focuses on database access issues and you
    might find more
takers for this type of question in the Flash General forum.

  • Flash player requires external internet access?

    Hello,
I'm wondering if flash player requires access to the external web to run. I have a machine where external internet access is blocked. When I load my webpage that contains a SWF, Flash player seems to throw the #2032 error and fail.
Can anyone confirm if the Flash player connects to the web during startup? If so, can this be turned off? If not, I'm trying to find what may be causing the famous 2032 error.
    Thanks
    Udam

You may need to turn off Flash Player update checking. Unfortunately this also needs Internet access (http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager05.htm l).

  • Insufficient Flash Player Requirements....but my set up looks ok.

Trying to stream from ESPN2. Get a message "Insufficient Flash Player Requirements". I went through the Troublshoot steps...all were ok but still can't stream. I'm on Windows 8.1 64 bit. Tried to update Flash Player but it was already up to date

    Chrome uses its own plug-in.
    To update the ActiveX plug-in,
I have two Win 8 machines and an 8.1 setup, and I cannot install ANYTHING on any of them without right clicking and choosing "Run as Administrator" anymore.
It's a total P.I.T.A., but I'm learning to live with it.

  • Can I use Flash Player plugin version 11.2.202.228 with my Firefox ESR 10.0.7 instead of the most current Flash Player plugin?

I am trying the Tor web browser software pack and it comes with Firefox ESR 10.0.7.
Right now, I'm trying to install a Flash Player plugin because it doesn't have one in this Firefox ESR 10.0.7 already, or this browser just doesn't see the slightly older Flash Player 11.2.202.228 plugin that I already have already installed on this machine.
'''Is there a way to make this Firefox ESR 10.0.7 browser see the Flash Player plugin 11.2.202.228 that I already have installed on this machine without installing the newest, possibly problematic Flash Player plugin?'''
I already have the Flash Player 11.2.202.228 plugin installed on this machine, a PC with Windows 7 ULT, because the most current versions of the Flash Player plugin had some problems and they wouldn't allow Flash content to play at all, so I reverted back to a slightly older version of the Flash Player that was reliable, crash free, and most importantly, it works.
But when I try to play any Flash content in this Tor-Firefox ESR 10.0.7 browser it tells me I don't have a Flash Player on this machine, or installed as a browser plugin or add-on, and it wants me to install the most current Flash Player on this machine, which I DO NOT want to do for the reasons I stated above.
My other Firefox browser, along with Google's newest Chrome browser and a newer version of the Safari browser for Windows, plus an older Internet Explorer 8, all WORK JUST FINE with the Flash Player 11.2.202.228 that I have installed on this computer and Google Chrome and Safari didn't even require having newer Flash Player plugins installed at all... they just see the Flash Player 11.2.202.228 plugin that I already have on this machine and they play all Flash content perfectly.
So can I just make this Tor-Firefox ESR 10.0.7 browser see the existing Flash Player 11.2.202.228 plugin that I already have on this machine?... and if so, how do I do that?
    Thanks for any help.
Also, I'm not able to find an actual community help forum for Tor, even via their "Torproject.org" website... is there one?
    Thanks,
    numetro

You should actually be using Flash 10.3 (11.2 is insecure).[[Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox#w_solution-2-downgrade-flash|Solution 2: Downgrade Flash]].
Also, is there a reason you are using Firefox ESR? It's mean for organizations, and doesn't include all the security and stability fixes that Firefox latest (15.0.1) has.

Reward or thank people (or don't), as you see fit. Roaminggnome, as you can tell by his level number has been "rewarded" by lots of people. His information is generally spot on. Whether it pleases you or not, you don't get to decide who participates here and who doesn't. As long as they obey the TOU, they can stay, even if you don't like them. Ingore people who annoy you. It's what I do with people who are unable to accept help freely offered them because they don't like the packaging.

  • Ended up with Flash Player debugger version

Hello, I have a Toshiba L675 running Windows 8.1 with IE 11 that I recently updated from Win 8. I somehow ended up with Flash Player 11.9.90.152 debugger version which I don't need. I just need the regular version.
I haven't had any success uninstalling this version so I can install the regular latest version.I've been around in many circles trying to get this done. The player does work fine when I'm viewing websites that require it.
I did the Win 8.1 update on another PC and it has the same version minus the debugger part.
I;ve checked Windows update and did remove one update related to Flash Player. I did that to get the player to play at all. If I tried to view a video say on CNN or whatever it would say you need Flash Player and provide a link to the latest player.
But like I say the player works fine now.

There's a Flash Player Uninstaller if you ever need it.

  • Installing Flash Player, any version

I've tried installing Flash Player 13 on my iMac. I'm running OS X 10.9.2. I've tried the installation on both Safari and Firefox. I've read the notice that Adobe is working on the problem and followed the suggestion that I uninstall Flash Player and then install version 12. The problem is once uninstalling was successful when I tried to install version 12 I kept getting a window saying the page that the link is supposed to take me to couldn't be found. Now I have no version of Flash Player and can't view anything requiring this plugin on the web. Can anyone please give me a way around this problem? Thanks for your help.

  • Blank display area for flash player latest version in FF7

    Hi all,
I got the new flash version a couple days ago and ever since then, any embedded flash just shows up as a blank area and nothing happens - not even an error message. Normal messages advising that install of flash is required for this content don't show up. Running on Win7 64, FF7, install was reported as successful, removed and reinstalled the plug-in, ran as administrator, no dice. What now?
Thanks very much for any help.

Hi Michael, thanks for the response.
I got a new flash player plugin for FF via the flash autoupdater.
The firefox version numbers don't mean too much anymore since Mozilla started releasing a new version every few weeks. FF7 was released at the end of September, so it's modern by any reasonable standard. Also, Flash is supposed to support 4+.
