Flash player saying installed but doesnt work

i have a toshiba laptop with internet explorer 6 and its an
xp machine
basically some websites that need flash redirect me to the
adobe flash player site and i click install and it installs.
then an animation plays when its successfully installed
but then when i go back to the website that requires
flash...flash doesnt work!
im going crazzy now cos no-one knows what to do.
any suggestions. any???? xx

Well, first of all you might want to get IE7. Just go to
filehippo.com. In any case, go to start>control
panel>internet options. Go to the security tab and set the
internet zone to default>apply. Then go to the privacy tab and
click on sites. Make sure the website is allowed to set cookies.
Then set the cookie slider to medium or medium-high. This internet
options screen is different for IE6 and IE7, so your buttons may
vary slightly from mine since I have IE7. Really, IE7 is better in
my opinion and your favorites will carry over.

You have a different problem. Your screenshot shows "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed".

Flash Player X installed but not working (6MB file instead of 15MB)

I installed version 11 Active X 11.5.502.135 BUT it is only 6MB file and should be 15MB so it does not play videos. It did not hang up during installation (download timeout) but went right ahead and installed but it cannot be the full deal. I have unistalled older versions and started fresh but no go. Can anyone help please?

1) In the list of programs in the control panel. The Flash Player file
is 6MB but in the Adobe site
download button it says the file size is 15MB.

I thought maybe it is only partially downloaded or partially installed.

IE9 Flash thinks its installed but doesnt work cannot reinstall or manually uninstall

I have a user has admin rights proper registry settings and Flash works in Firefox and other browsers but not IE9
If i try to uninstall manually it removes all of flash try reinstalling IE 9 flash I get failed to register.
If i goto a flash page in IE9 i get no error just an empty box where the flash item should be. if i right click i get flash like settings just greyed out?
I have tried a new widnows profile to rule out corruption. (Happens on all user profiles)
Checked Admin Rights (OK)
Checked Registry Permissions (OK)
Realplayer is not installed
Firefox And chrome work with flash fine and the plugin installs for them.
I have tried using the adobe flash uninstall method ff and chrome work again but not IE9
Any adobe admins can you help me out?

Ok Update I finally got it to install but up every reboot it dissapears from IE
The other thing that is wierd is if i toggle active x filtering on and refresh a page it works for a brief period in some elements but then if i goto youtube i get white frames and such?

Flash Player says installed but its not

I have installed 10.1 4 times tonight each time i get installation complete but nothing is there when I check to see if Flash 10.1 is installed per the installation instructions. I 've tried the automate download and manual. I have internet explorer 32 bit as far as I know operating on Windows XP. I changed security settings as recommended - I 'm not good at computers to begin with - what do I need to do

I have exactly the same problem: I've downloaded flashplayer, DLM says that it's successful, but no icon is on the desktop.
I've gone to the software/flash/about site, and it shows an animated logo with the message that flash was correctly installed.
If I go to start - all programs - reader is shown but flash is not.
Other sites (including within Adobe) tell me that I need to install flash.
I went to windows\system32\macromed\flash, and it listed 6 files:
      Flash101.ocx
      FlashInstall
      FlashUtil101_ActiveX
      FlashUtil101_ActiveX.dll
      Genuinst
      KB923789
When I click on FlashUtil101_ActiveX, I get a message box telling me that it will UNinstall flash, so I quit it.
When I go to control panel, Add/remove, it DOES list flash player.
My system is WindowsXP, 5.1 - SP2.
Each time that I've downloaded flash, it's been with the DLM, I didn't see an option to manually download it.
Each time it's downloaded, McAfee downloads and successfully installs, and it's icon appears on the desktop.
I would sincerely appreciate any suggestions that you can offer.

2) Restart your computer.

I finally got the flash player to download without an error messge but when I doublecheck the file under programs it doesn't have any size to the file. This means it really didn;'t download - correct?

It must have some size, even if it's zero.
If you tell us your OS and browser, we may be able to give you an alternate download location.

This is a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.

ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

Flash player 9 installed but...

I am trying to open raw .swf files (not through a browser). I
uninstalled what I thought was my old flash player and installed
the new Flash Player 9. When I double click on the .swf it
automattically opens the Flash Player 6 window and does not play
the file. If I right click the .swf and open in a IE browser window
it runs fine. How do I set FP 9 as the default for all files, not
just in IE.
Is there a way to get the Flash Player 9 file as an .exe that
I can open and then open the file?

Hello. My flash playe worked just fine until this morning. I turned my computer on, went to a facebook app., and got a message "if doesn't load in the next 10 seconds, upgrade flash by clicking here" which brought me to adobe I have an Acer laptop, and am running Internet Explorer 7.
I've done everything I can, but can't get flash player to work. I've uninstalled, re-booted, re-installed, re-booted. I've made sure my security zones are on medium, I've temporarity disabled my virus protection program while uninstalling and installing. I've went under tools, manage add ons, to enable it, but the only adobe add-on listed is adobe PDF link helper and it's enabled. I've checked to make sure Java script is enabled, I've made sure I have the 32 bit browser, I've done everything I could find to do (I've worked on this for hours today).
When I click to download from adobe site, it shows it installing without a problem, goes all the way through, shows done, then shows to close download manager. If I go through control panel to 'uninstall programs' adobe flash is listed. If I go through start, adobe flash is not listed in my programs and does not come up when I search under start.
So, from I can find, I can download and install it, but then it's not there and doesn't work. Please Help. I've struggled with this all day, and it's very frustrating, and the only way to reach adobe is to pay $39 for a phone call. I really need help on this, it would be very much appreciated. Hi, and thanks again for taking the time to help me with this, I sure appreciate it. I ran a disc cleanup, then I went in under internet options and deleted the cookies and such. I got rid of the uninstall and install programs I had in the download folder but still have the ones on the desktop.
I went to Windows/System32- but I don't have a Macromed folder there. I have one under the SysWOW64 folder though, a Macromed folder, with a Flash folder under it, with files uner it:
Flash10l.ocx- ActiveX control,
FlashInstall- Text document,
FlashUtil10l_ActiveX.dll- Application extension,
FlashUtil10l_ActiveX- Application (with a red file by it, and it opens the uninstall program), and
install- Text Document.
The two text documents say they were created last year, but the other three say they were created today.
And like I said, these are under the SysWOW64 folder. The System32 folder does not have a Macromed folder under it at all, and instead of being in alphabetical order from top to bottom, they start with Z and the A's are at the bottom, if that means anything. I called my frienfd and had her check her computer step by step as I did mine, and hers doesn't have a Macromed under the System32 folder either, but does the SysWOW64 file, and it has the same files I do, except two of the first one, the Flash10l.ocx, but with different dates on it.
I ran my virus scan, avast, and it didn't find anything. I did close the browsers to run the Window Defender and Malwarebytes, and tried it again a few minutes ago, and they are still saying they find nothing. The malwarebytes found 7 things this morning when I ran it, but hasn't found anything since.

It takes over an hour to even load a 20 minute video, that's with pausing it its been a few weeks now, it's really frustrating. I have tried everything, even re-installing google chrome, plug-ins. Am running Vista and it shows Adobe flash player 100% installed but it will not work. I have uninstalled numerous times and still no luck. Had success on older computer running XP. I have searched the net and attempted numerous options but to no avail.

Adobe Flash player states it is installed and gives the current version but when I attempt to view a video it tells me to download the newest flash player however it showed I have installed it.
When I go to uninstall programs it does not show any files have been downloaded for the program... so I have uninstalled; restarted; re-installed under administrator; turned off any virus protection and firewalls... etc.

Do you have NoScript or Flashblock or some similar Extension installed? If so, are you allowing the site, at least on a temporary basis, access by such an Extension?
