Flash Player slow (unless a thumb drive is in)

We are having an issue that we are having trouble tracking down a solution for.  Our organization uses Flash videos for training purposes.  On, what appears to be, random machines the videos will play very slowly.  Now here comes the unique part:  They will run fine the instant a thumb drive or something similiar is put in.
Computer Setups:  Windows XP SP3 using IE 7.  This is something that cannot change due to hospital apps not working outside of this specific setup.  4 Gb of RAM, Dual Core 3.3 Ghz CPU's up to Quad cores, and an array of video cards have been used (ATI, Nvidia, and intel onboard.)  All the setups have the current Adobe Flash versions.
Troubleshooting steps taken:
Fresh off the dvd setup of XP SP3 and current updates:  Runs slowely (we also turned off hardware acceleration)
Fresh off the dvd setup of Win 7 and current updates:  Runs smoothly
We have updated IE on the XP SP3 setup to IE8 and it still runs slow.  We install Firefox and it runs slow.  We install Chrome (which has Flash built in) and it runs smoothly.  Now here's an interesting thing:  If we run a video in IE it will be slow.  If we then run a completely unrelated video in Chrome side by side the video in IE runs smooth until the Chrome video gets done which in turn slows the IE one down again.
On all setups we have current drivers installed and current updates.  When running these videos the instant you put a thumb drive in it will speed up the video.  If you take the thumb drive out the video will be slow again.
We have done some procmon and procexplorer on these and it doesn't seem to call anything on the thumb drives.  If you guys have any ideas I am more then willing to try them out.

  • Can you install the needed Flash Player software onto a thumb drive?

I have a large desktop that needs the new Flash Player. However, I am in the country with only dialup. I can take my laptop to the library for fast Internet. Is it possible to download the needed flash player software onto a thumb drive and then transfer that to the desktop. I've downloaded the install file but it gives me no location choice when it begins the install. Working with windows 7 on both machines.
    Thanks

    Hi Ellen,
Yes, you can save the offline version of Flash Player onto a thumb drive and then copy/move it to a computer to install it.  The version downloaded from get.adobe.com/flashplayer is what we refer to the online installer.  It's a shim installer that then downloads and installs Flash Player silently.  The offline installers are posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows page in the 'Still having problems' section.  There are various installers for various browsers.  You'll want to download the file(s) corresponding with the browser(rs) you use.

  • YouTube HD Flash Player Slow & Choppy on Netbooks

YouTube now has HD content. It's great, unless you're a
netbook user. The new HD content is unplayable on most netbooks.
Why? Because of the Adobe Flash player CPU intensive video
    playback.
    Here's an example:
Using an Acer Aspire One 1.6 GHz Intel Atom, 1 GB RAM. I
attempted to play the following video on YouTube:
"Where the Hell is Matt? (2008)" click "whatch in high
    quality"
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlfKdbWwruY
I clicked the pause button and waited untill the video was
100% buffered, then clicked play. The video does not play at all. I
only get a bit of chopped up audio and an occational new frame of
    video.
I then used the Firefox download helper addon to download the
HD version of the FLV file for the above video.
I used the VLC media player to playback the FLV file. The
    video played flawlessly. Perfectly smooth.
My conclusion is that the YouTube HD content playback problem
with netbooks is caused by the Adobe Flash Player's excessive CPU
    usage.
Will Adobe make their flash player more efficient to lower
    the CPU requirements?
Maybe there's Firefox addon which will replace the YouTube
flash player with the VLC pluggin. If I find it, I'll post it
    here.

and got results comparable to those shown: about 9-10 fps on my iMac, but about 45-50 fps on the work PC: an extremely visible difference. A friend of mine got 10-12 fps with his late-model Mac Pro and 8-9 fps on a slightly older PowerBook.
I just got around 34 fps on my 2.6 GHz MBP Penryn running 10.5.6 and Flash 10.0 r22 in Safari 3.2.1.
The bottom line, though, is if there are performance issues with Flash it something that Adobe will most likely need to fix on their own unless there's some specific bit of Mac OS X slowing them down.
You might also want to try upgradng to Mac OS X Leopard if you can.

  • Flash player slow on Powerbook

All of my facebook apps are so slow (I think they are flash) that I cannot even play them. Everything else on the computer is fine, I can watch you tube fine, play other games fine, etc.
I have tried all the browsers, even uninstalled and reinstalled the os, have done all updates.
I have no clue why it is doing that, any ideas?

If you have to update the Flash player or Shockwave player (includes plugins) you
probably should use the Uninstallers for each of them, and be sure the new item
is there on the desktop ready to install, then uninstall the old one using the utility
(uninstaller) for each one. Be sure no browsers are running when updating players.
And there should be newer players available for both Shockwave & Flash, you
may also have to see if doing basic system maintenance such as repairing disk
    permissions, startup in SafeBoot to repair disk permissions then restart normally;
    and other things can help.
Depending on the software you have in the computer and what is running, if your
computer is multi-tasking, things such as free hard disk drive space and the
percentage of used capacity in there, may make a big difference. A full drive is
a source of trouble and could be heading for disaster. Also, having extra RAM
(memory in chip) over and above the basic amount some computers used to
ship with is helpful and the overall experience is better.
To have and use third-party tools such as AppleJack, Cocktail, OnyX can be
good, since you can use these to avoid minor issues that otherwise may
require knowledge and use of terminal commands to execute behind the
scenes action; these tools are essentially a nice user interface for you to do
stuff the system already has within it. I use OnyX and have it run several if
not all the checkbox items seen under its Automation selection. It is free as
a download and you get the version for your computer's OSX system.
There could be a few little things, perhaps neglected items, behind this issue.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Flash player slow

Hi, I have tried to resolve this on my own, but i couldn't so please, help me.
I'm having BIG troubles trying to reproduce any video in YouTube. When i try to watch something, the video goes terribly slow, with continuos jumps, however the audio still is being reproduce perfectly.
I have the last Adobe Flash Player version installed, if i go here http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html it says it. But the animation i should see in that page to check if everything is ok, is really slow, and it has those jumps, the same than youtube.
I have tried to unistall, and install it again, but it doesn't work.
My computer is: Windows 7 64 bits, AMD FX 6300 6 core, GTX 650, 8 Gb RAM, motherboard ASRock 980DE3/U3S3

    Update your Flash Player '''v16.0.0.287<br>https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html'''
A bug had been found and this is the fix.
Do you have good connection speed? Trouble on other site videos?
If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:
    * see if there are updates for your graphics drive drivers

  • Adobe Flash Player slow, jerky, and I NEED HELP A.S.A.P.

Hello everybody, and how are you all doing on this wonderful Friday?
Today after doing research on the support website for Adobe ShockWave flash player, I'm here as a last resourt.
Allow me to explain the issue!
    WARNING:
THIS IS GOING TO BE EXTREMELY LONG, BUT I NEED HELP VERY VERY BADLY!!
I've waisted people's time because of this issue.
I'm using an HP Windows 7 Laptop with latest version of Windows 7!
I have Adobe ShockWave 11.7 the LATEST VERSION and It is a great program.
However in one of my simulators which is a V500  Evita Ventilator simulator from the company Drager, the performance is HORRID, and when I say horrid, I mean HORRID TIMES 30 and then some.
Keep in mind that this has been tested by the company on other computers, and it works just fine, however on mine the waveforms and data is choppy, slow and what it will do is it will be working smoothly one second, the next second It lags and then catches up, then lags again, and It basically drags along miserably. I used this program online and then when I contacted Drager the owners of the simulator, they thought I get a DVD of the simulator. THEY GAVE IT TO ME FREE OF CHARGE. I got it, and It was still slow and Jerky. I had used Google Chrome to use the simulator online HOWEVER, when I used the DVD, It was still slow. I have a LOAD of computer space, and have tried uninstalling Adobe Shockwave, Reinstalling it, then doing that several times. NOTHING. NOW WHAT??
I'm desperate right now. When I say DESPERATE, THIS HAS GOT TO BE FIXED AS SOON AS POSSIBLY POSSIBLE.
    ASAPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is there some setting I can adjust?
    Or SOMETHING???
The thing is other things that require Adobe Shockwave work just fine. I use a lot of simulators.
    Its just this simulator.
    PLEASE RESPOND!!
    THANK YOU, and God bless.

  • Will downloading adobe flash player slow down my mac

Hi, i have a macbook pro 13 inch. Its my first mac and still figuring some stuff out but i want to be able to go on youtube, but when i pull up youtube it says i require adobe flash player; is there a way to get youtube videos without downloading flash. If not i dont mind downloading it, just would like to know if it will slow down the speed of my mac before i do download flash.

No, installing Flash will not slow down your machine.  Make sure it is up to date so there are no security problems.

  • Why adobe flash player slows down all browser's performance?

I rememeber longer ago there were problems with flash player plugin inside Mozilla's Firefox browser causing the plugin to crash: Adobe Flash plugin has crashed - Prevent it from happening again | Firefox Help
After a recent update (17,0,0,134) it almost never crash but it slows down all browsers performance untill it finally launches next video. Almost the majority of all news sites use flash player
to launch its' commercial. And it has several such boxes with commercials, for example: www.lrytas.lt
And while I'm listening to music via youtube and on the other tab reading news on that site, when music clip ends and the browser starts to load other music videoclip,
then the whole browser's work is paralysed - I can't write text, cannot scroll down, cannot click any link. All this is because the system is busy while in youtube next clip is loading.
Mouse marker becomes into round rotating circle indicating loading procedure (firefox is not responding). And it takes time - up to 10-15 seconds to launch new video. Then sudenly all my actions is executed after such pause - my text is typed,
my scroll down  and maybe link is pressed. All this slowing down procedure is annoying. It wastes a lot of time. I open task manager and I see that Firefox is taking 900.000 or 1300.000 K of memory. My OS is Windows 7.
I close whole firefox.exe process and then it automatically close plugins. Then I open the browser again and it ask to automatically recover interrupted sites, I agree with it and then it opens everything again. And again
it is working continuously for some time untill slows down browser again. With more tabs more problems. Moreover, view of a video sometimes comes too late too. Some images are lost as system is too late already because
loading procedure took too much resources.
Long long ago flash player was better. But today with a rise of new ****** substandart computers like iphones ipads you have to evolve the player in such a way that it has to play on everything, but its performance on different platforms
    is not the same.
Who is guilty - my PC, Firefox or the plugin? Or maybe I am?
In My Cold Opinion, users actions can't be ignored. The preference should be user's continuous control over a system load.

You are right about high CPU usage. It was even when playing various computer games. I don't have problems anymore. But not because I disabled all addons. I did these things:
In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.
Search for dom.ipc.plugins.flash.disable-protected-mode in the list of preferences.
Double-click on the preference to toggle its value from false to true. (If the setting is already true it means that Flash Protected Mode is currently disabled.)
    Close Firefox.
    Restart Firefox.
And since then I don't have that particular problem with overloading. I just disabled some of flash protected mode. How is that related with "overloading"? Strage. Hardware acceleration I've enabled again as without it whole text field in news sites is sometimes black.
    Thanks anyway Mr.

  • Flash Player slows down CSS and DOM animations

    Greetings again,
Following symptom happens only in Vista (both 64 and 32 bits)
    IE8 Beta 2.
Using Flash animations (SWF) in same screen with other DOM
and CSS animations makes browser inresponsive. This does not happen
in Firefox, Opera etc. on very same Vistas and does not happen in
IE6 on a Windows XP machine or IE7 in Vista
    Here is an example:
    http://www.chip.com.tr
Don't mind the language of site, here is the thing: Menus
such as BÖLÜMLER, DOWNLOAD etc. on top, right of the logo
OR blue icons again right of the logo, normally works very well
without problems. However, when advertisements are loaded (which
are flash based), IE on Vista turn into very slow responsiveness
values when you mouse over these icons and menus. I tried to change
just flashes load without javascript need, result did not change
By design, is there some error or is this classified as bug?

I would suggest you uninstall the IE 8 and then restart the

might me a system error. So try this us and let us know.
No slowing down on page given on menu transitions and are you
    on Vista?
Edit: Just tried it. Removed entire IE8 and reinstalled IE8
again. Problem continues on this page. It makes you feel like CPU
hit top but it is not. Using IE8 Beta 2, Flash Player 9,0,124,

  • Flash player slowing down

I'm having kind of a weird problem with the flash player. I
recently was having a performance problem with a game I'm working
on where after playing for a while, it suddenly would slow down to
about half the normal framerate. I searched for the bug for a
while, but then I noticed it was happening with lots of other
people's flash games too, even though the same problems don't occur
on other computers. So I think somehow the Flash player is now
having some kind of problem specific to my computer. Here's the
    symptoms:
-As I run the flash, my CPU usage keeps going up but the
performance stays the same until it hits a sudden, major slowdown.
-If I've played a flash until the player slows down, then I
close it and open another one shortly, the new one will run slow,
too. If I wait a while, it will start out normal.
-This is just a guess, but it appears that flash that has to
redraw a lot every frame is having this problem the most. I have a
couple of games that don't change a lot each frame that don't have
    any problems.
Anyway, I know this is kind of ambiguous, but I'm really
hoping someone will recognize these symptoms and know what's wrong.
Please let me know if you have any guesses as to what's slowing
down the flash player, it's become very difficult to develop when I
can't run my own games at full speed for more than 30 seconds :P
    thanks,
    Max

O/S Windows XP Professional 32Bit + Ati Catalyst Drivers "10-2_legacy_xp32-64_dd_ccc" and I am generally using Firefox up to date.
I made yesterday an experiment, removed the 11th version of Flash Player Plugin & ActiveX, and installed from the archive the 10th version of plugin + 11th activex and then everything worked like it supposed to be - fine. But i have failed to install 10th version of ActiveX, i'ts just telling me that cannot be installed, some kind of error.
P.S. I think i've fixed my issues, i tried to install again from the Adobe Flash Player archive version 10.3.183.18 ActiveX & Plugin and i did it.Now .flv are running like 2 days ago - without any problems.
Maybe the thing is that my configuration is slow for the new version of the player,my CPU isn't multicore, but still it is not bad for the Adobe programmers to optimize the new version better for slower pc's.
    Cheers!

  • Flash Player slow response after update

I have an older laptop that has a 2 ghz processor and the latest version requires a processor speed of 2.33 or better. Is this why I'm experiencing slow response on my facebook apps and loading on internet as well?

  • Flash player slow: Intel GMA 500

    Hi
I've been testing the new flash player 10.2, and while walking fairly light compared to theflash player 10.1, still walking quite slow with the videos in HD. (does not reach 20 FPS)
Worse, every time I put full screen on youtube, the FPS drop dramatically, even to less than 5 FPS.
    My PC is:
    Asus EEEPC 1201 HA
    Atom Z 520
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    2GB Ram
Intel GMA 500 (was supposed to be supported video acceleration for the video card, considering that supports H.264 video acceleration up to 1080P.)
Thank you very much for having this forum to report problems.

I have the same issue here. The latest flash player (11.1) doesn't even play 360p Youtube flash videos without like 80% CPU load (Intel Atom) and stuttering. System is Windows 7 Prof. 32bit, browser is IE9 or FF8)
OTOH, the same Atom Netbook (with Intel GMA 500 graphics) plays HD video (mp4 AVC), windowed or fullscreen, with almost no CPU load in VLC or WMP.
Strangely, in Google Chrome, it IS possible to watch 720p Youtube flash video with very low CPU usage.
So, what could be the culprit for HW acceleration not being used by Flash in other browsers than Chrome?
Thanks already to the Adobe flash support team for your reply,
    David.P

  • Flash player slows down at firefox?

There's a game I've been working on in my free time (it's
similiar to well known Crypt Raider):
    http://www.satfilm.net.pl/~gierek/files/gra.html
(text is in Polish, it just means "level X; press Enter"). There is
the fps counter in the top-left corner. At opera it shows around
90fps and at Firefox there is only 60. Both browsers have flash
player 9. Is just the Firefox non-friendly for flash?
The fps counter works like that:

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • Can flash player slow down my website?

I , for one, consider that my website http://e-obiectesanitare.ro is slow enough with java only, but it could use some flash to become a little more alive.
I noticed that adding a facebook like box to my front page is enough to add 2-3 seconds to my loading time. Does flash usually require a lot of bandwidth? My loading time is about 2-3 seconds right now, and i wouldn't want to disturb it by much.
    Waiting for your answer.
    Sincerely , Dave

That entirely depends on the Flash content you put on the site.  If it is a high-quality, large video, then it will problably slow it down.
