  • Timing driving me Mad - Pls Help

    Hi all
I recently did a huge upgrade to my studio, From logic 8 and pro-tools on a Macbook Pro with an MBox 2 pro, to Logic 9 on an 8 Core MacPro (8GB Ram) with a focusrite Saffire 56.
Am having some huge problems I never noticed before (having said that on my old system with Logic I only worked with midi really, most audio stuff was done in Protools)
Anyway, here is a run down of the problem - It's driving me nuts:
Working on a track with Midi drums laid down and processed with a combination of BFD and Battery.
Then on top through the Saffire we put, Bass, 6 guitar tracks, and 5 vocal tracks, added plugins etc to the tracks as we went along.
I'm having huge problems in getting them to play together in time - tempo is fine but on playback they don;t start at the same time as the drums - if that makes sense, it's as if there is a delay for the system to write what I play to file.
When recording all monitoring was done through the Saffire so no delay/Latency heard, all was well, as I really analysed the track I found I had to set the delay on each track in the inspector to -1/32 =120 for the audio files to sync up with the drums. It was fairly consistent across the tracks, although setting it is a bit of a pain when comping as the settings change, also when you cut up the audio it changes as well, so you have to keep re-setting it.
I have the system set to 32 samples (the lowest - and no errors etc) and PDC set to SW instrument and audio when recording, but have tried with off as well no different.
I tried to work out the recording delay by playing a loop sending it out through the Saffire and back in and recording it then working out the time difference - I came up with 38 Samples that the recorded signal was delayed from the original. So in the Recording delay to -38 samples - it made a difference with the track I recorded on the loop - but didn't seem to work on any other input in my song and I had to set the track delay to -1/32 to get it to sync.
It's really frustrating to work like this, can anyone advise what I'm doing wrong, I'm sure it's user error.
    thanks in Advance.

    Monitoring done through the Saffire?
Do you mean directly through the Saffire, or through Saffire/Logic using Logic effects. If you're using Saffire's pass thru (Direct) monitoring you can raise Logic's sample buffer as it will give Logic more breathing room to work. Remember, sample buffer latency does not cause delay or offsets and does not need to be set at the lowest value unless you're monitoring through Logic, using Logic effects.
Anyway, this sounds more like a plugin delay compensation problem to me.
    1. Do you have any effects on the master bus?
    2. Try using Logic's "Low Latency Mode" during recording. It's activated by a button on the transport, if it's not there right click on the transport and add it.

The same thing happens to me, Safari asks me to update the Adobe FlasPlayer, I download, start the installation process, ask me my username and password in order to install, then see a window where I choose if I want to always install the updates , or ask first, or not inslate updates, and at this point it is not progress, I can not cancel the process, I turn off and turn on my machine.

You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • Macbook Pro Retina Display and Flash Player major issues

    Hello,
Apple has recently released Macbook Pro's with Retina displays.
I have tested my Flash application on the new laptop, and this is what I observe:
    1. My Flex SDK Flash application looks blurry and strange when I try to check it out from any Macbook Pro with Retina display, while looking sharp and OK from all other machines.
On this screenshot you can sort of see the issue:
    http://i.imgur.com/UXHd4.png
(Expand the image to the actual size, and compare the Flex SDK components with browser labels. Browser labels look crisp, Flex SDK components look a little bit blurry.)
    2. It is no longer possible to click on anything in Flash Player Dialogs, such as:
    * Flash Player Settings
    * Webcam or microphone allow/deny dialog
    * All other dialogs (peer-to-peer access, etc)
This issue makes it impossible to use video chat applications on Macbook Pro Retina's because users can't click allow/deny when requested for audio/video access.
I have submitted reports about this to Adobe BugBase here:
    https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3224151
    https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3224147
    Please fix these issues.
    Andrey

@nvhdab - If you haven't already, can you please add a bug on your issue over at bugbase.adobe.com  If it's the same as 3224151 then it sounds like it's going to be fixed soon.  I'm trying to find out exactly when, but it might be in the 11.7 release now (4/2/2013 - Flash Player 11.7.700.170 Beta)
@scottclayton - I'm going to ask the team to revisit the click issue.  I don't have a retina display so I can't confirm the issue.  Thank you though for putting up the workaround.

  • Flash Player sound problems on a 5.1 system

I don't know if i found the right topic for asking for this question, but here it goes.
I noticed that flash player has this issue with my 5.1 system, when i play music (and i mean any music, like my online radio, played through flash, or music through the site VK.com), the sound is extremely awful. Words actually can't explain it, there is no bass, and the sound, overall, seems to be of very low quality. But it's not. When the same music is played via stereo system (any), it seems to be perfect - with bass and etc.
Now i'm really confused. It's either a problem of flash, or a problem of somewhat in my system. My guess is that flash simply does not support audio output rather than 2.0. I will be really grateful if anyone will at least point me in the direction of the source of this problem; it makes my life miserable. Thank you.

Is it possible to have e version of flash player like silverlight which give thepossibility to hear audio on whole 5.1 system?
I have the following system computer:
Case: Thermaltake Mozart; PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 750W; MainBoard: Asrock 4coredual-sata2; Heatsink: ZeroTherm Zen120; CPU: Core2 Extreme X6800 3,2Ghz; RAM: OCZ Platinum DDR400, 2x1 GB; GPU: Sapphire HD3850 AGP; PPU: BFG Ageia; HDD1: WD Caviar Blue WD5000AAKS; HDD2: WD WD2000BB; Monitor: Asus VB175T 17" 5:4; Audio System: danneggiato, in corso di sostituzione; OS: Xp Professional Sp3; Browser: Srware Iron.

  • Flash Player Sound & Video Problem

Since I have downloaded flash player 11 my videos in explorer are not right. The video and sound are out of sync. Have searched the forums and found no fixes. Can you help? Thanks

To help troubleshoot we'll need the following system information:
    Operating   system
    Browser
    Flash   Player version
When reporting issues with video or audio, it's also helpful to get your system hardware and driver details.  Instructions for finding this information can be found here:
    Windows
    Mac
Finally, sometimes video and audio problems are caused at a lower level and not directly related to Flash Player.  I recommend trying both of the links below to see how they perform.  If the problem exists with both, then Flash Player is most likely not the culprit as the HTML5 video link does not use Flash Player when playing.  You can verify the use of HTML5 by right clicking the HTML5 video and looking for the words "About HTML5" at the bottom of the context menu.

  • ADOBE FLASH PLAYER UNINSTALL ISSUE- FEB 2015

    POSTED FEB 2 2015
hello fellow mac users -  I have an adobe flash player question...
I am sure everyone is aware of the adobe flash player vulnerability that came out late January 2015.   Initially when I saw that, I promptly removed flash player on my machine and installed the new version 16.0.0.287.    A day later when I started my machine,  I saw a Flash Player message indicating I have to download again.  I googled and found out Adobe actually only partially fixed the vulnerability.
Exasperated, I decided to say bye-bye to Adobe Flash for good by uninstalling Flash Player.   After uninstalling, I went to Youtube and played a video - it shows that its using HTML5 codec to play the video - so far, so good.
The issue I am having is that since I uninstalled the Flash Player, whenever I start up my machine I am getting this "Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller" pop up window.
The first time I saw it, I clicked on UNINSTALL button and it will say "Adobe Flash Player was removed".   But every day when I start up my machine, it still shows this pop up message and its driving me bonkers.
is there a way to remove or prevent this pop-up from showing up?   BTW I checked my machine's preferences and Adobe Flash Player is no longer listed.
    BTW I have a iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011), Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
Thanks for your input in advance.

    RESOLVED - Feb 3 2015
I believe I have found the issue and resolution on that pesky Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller - thought i'd share in case this would help someone.
Since that f***ing  Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller pops up each time I start up the machine, I thought I should check the "startup" items in my Mac machine.  So I did my research and I did the following steps:
    1. Click on Mac > System Preferences
    2. Select Users and Groups
    3. User and Groups window pops up - On the right pane you'll see "Password" and "Login Items" items - click on "Login Items".
On the Login items - I did see 'Adobe Flash Player Installer' - apparently this triggers the Uninstaller instead of Installer - but whatever - I have banned Flash Player from my Mac so I highlight this item on the Login Items list, and click on the minus sign button - it removed the Adobe Flash Player Installer from the Login Items list.    Then I restarted my machine - and voila -  NO MORE PESKY Adobe Flash Player uninstaller pop-ups!!!! Hurrah!!!
Again this might help specifically for those who want to BAN Adobe Flash Player from their machines and are seeing the Adobe Flash Player Installer / Uninstaller every time they start up their machine.  Apparently this is not a widespread problem but it still does happen.  Good luck y'all and say goodbye to Adobe Flash Player (sorry Adobe, but I do still love your core products like Lightroom and Photoshop).  Adobe should not have bought Macromedia (who originally developed Flash and Shockwave) years back but who would have known Flash would be such a headache (no thanks to cybercriminals)...

  • Flash Player sound level

Hi! Is there any way to specify initial sound level of all flash objects at webpage (via player settings maybe)? I want it low because it is so uncomfortable when I suddenly hear loud music or voice while browsing the web. I'm using firefox. Thanks.

I'm having this issue as well.  When I go to any web site and play a flash video the sound is very loud. I go into the control panel (Windows 7) and into "adjust system volume." There is a slider for firefox and flash player. The firefox slider has no affect on the volume, but the flash player slider does. The problem is that windows or flash player does not save that level. When I play another video later, I have to go in and adjust the sound level again.  Why won't it save the level like to other sliders do? Anyone?

  • Flash Player Security issue

    All,
Please note that I've just had a chat discussion with Adobe support because of a security issue in the most recent update of Flash that caused services from several providers to become inaccessible.  Does anyone have any information regarding this issue?

Unfortunately, that doesn't help me pin it down much.  It sounds like we tightened restrictions on a behavior that was previously allowed, which caused them to need to update their content.  The web is a dynamic place, and Flash has an obligation to be a good citizen in the larger ecosystem.  As new web standards evolve and emerge, it's important that Flash Player is aligned with them to the extent possible.  In the same vein, we work closely with partners in industry, academia and government to identify and resolve security issues based on the latest research and intelligence.
While we take backwards compatibility seriously, the security landscape looks very different than it did 5-10 years ago.  The security of both end-users and the network is of paramount importance.  With the quantity and age of existing Flash content (not all of which is generated by Adobe software), it's incredibly difficult to anticipate whether or not content will break when we change something, particularly if it's esoteric.  We operate a public beta program and encourage content providers to participate in order to prevent unexpected outages as the result of changes to Flash Player.  The beta can be found at http://www.adobe.com/go/beta/.
If your cable provider needs assistance in resolving the issue, their engineers are more than welcome to reach out to me directly.

  • Flash Player sound quality problems

From couple days I have prolems with all materials played from web with flash player (for example: YouTube, Vimeo). Every time I watch a movie sound have strange "clicks" / noise. Something like overdrive signal. This  become more audiable when in full screen mode.
I've tested MP3, FLACs, MPEG4, h.264 and other media played on my hard drive - no such issue - only video played trough flashplayer on the web.
Any idea what can I do with that? I've got latest 10.3 flash instaled.

So far as I know (not that I know much!) there wouldn't be
    anything in the
new Flash beta player to fix this. You will get better
    results, however, if
you reduce the quality settings for your published files.
    Doing so should
reduce the published file size, making better use of limited
    network
    resources.
