Flash Player Stage Color Problem

Hello all!
Recently I have run into a very strange issue, which involes the Flash Player (standalone) on my computer. I will try to summarize the issue so you can easily get the picture
1. I began noticing the issue when I hit "Ctrl + Enter" to test a Flash Movie and my stage color (set as 0x000000) suddenly appeared... completely white. Please notice that it had been black all the time, it simply suddenly got to white wihout me doing anything!
2. I am sure my ActionScript does not have anything to do with the stage color, -> there should be no accidental mistakes caused by runtime scripts.
3. My operating system: Windows 7, 32 bit with an above average system specification. In fact it has been running Flash Professional CS5 for a long time without any problem at all
4. My standalone Flash Player (FlashPlayer.exe): 10.3.183.7 (I believe it is the latest version at the time of writing)
5. Feeling curious about the case, I tried opening my Flash Professional CS4 (I install both CS4 and CS5 on my machine), create a blank new document, set the stage color to something other than white -> test with "Ctrl + Enter" -> the result is that white background again!!!! (at that time I began to "omg" in my mind...)
6. I tried to open a few .SWF files on my machine that were created a long time ago. All having same white background. I'm sure in the past these files were having background colors other than white!
7. Publishing the Flash file into an HTML wrapper and viewing the HTML file -> stage color appears normally
8. Publishing the Flash file into an EXE file and opening that EXE file -> stage color appears normally
9. Hitting "Ctrl + Enter" twice (meaning testing the Movie in the "Simulate Download" mode) -> stage color appears normally after the file finishes loading
10. I have tried clearing the Flash Professional User Preference Settings (following Adobe's guide), uninstall and reinstall my Flash Player (using Adobe's uninstaller) but all in vain. The only thing left I haven't done is removing and reinstalling Flash CS5, which takes a long time and I'm not happy to do so...
.. I guess that's the whole picture so far. Anyone having the same problem / found out a way to fix this?
Thank you so much for your time and your help,
Best regards,
Khang

Hi Chris,
Thank you for your prompt respond. I'm sorry I couldn't get round to replying it any sooner! And just to let you know, Nico's solution works great for me! We managed to fix this thing by deleting / renaming the "mm.cfg" file under C:\Users\<UserName>. Yes, the culprit was that config file! ... something we might as well easily overlook in a forest of files and folders isn't it?
Hi Nico,
I got nothing else to say here... you just saved my day (or I could say 'my month' :D)! Thank you very much for your profound knowledge and your sharing! I would guess there is something wrong with the overall flashplayer config, but I would probably never think of that file... My sincere admiration and appreciation, Nico

I was prompted by Firefox to update my adobe flash player on 12/23/11, which I did. Ever since then the web site has frozen and/or crashed. I run a internet business and can't have this continue. I uninstalled the flash player and the problems have stopped. I would like to reinstall the earlier version of adobe, since that didn't seem to impact the web site.

  • Flash player causes real problems on Youtube

Flash player causes real problems on Youtube site.
I don't really know if it's a Flash Player problem or a Youtube one but Youtube used to work fine back in like 3-4 months ago, now it doesn't anymore.
The issues I encounter with Flash player on Youtube are as follows:
First issue is the fact that after the video completely loads or it loads a big part of it then I click on the seek bar to jump at a specific time that has been already downloaded by the Flash player the video starts loading again from that point on like it didn't actually downloaded that part before. This issue causes big bandwith use since it downloads many many times the same portions of the clip that it has already loaded before dozens of time. If I play a 3 min music clip and click replay or point on the seek bar at the begining of the clip to play it again it loads/downloads the clip again and again and again. If the video clip has over 1 hour then I click play it might entirely load into the player in a few minutes then I click on the seek bar to skip at a certain point it starts loading again from that point on. This is the most anoying thing I encounter with Youtube lately.
Second issue is the fact that if I click on the seek bar of the player to skip to a specific time most of the time the playback does not start from that point on but it skips back to the last point where it was so I must click several times or keep the mouse button pressed for a long time on the same point in order to play from that place on. This one is again very anoying.
Third issue is that after the video starts playing in 360p it automatically changes to 720p after a minute or so even if I had checked this setting "I have a slow connection. Never play higher-quality video" in Youtube Playback Settings. I cleared the cookies and chosed several times the same "I have a slow connection. Never play higher-quality video" setting in Youtube Playback Settings but it just doesn't keep the settings on. This one is again very anoying since my computer can't handle well 720p.
I have reinstalled Win XP SP3 and even installed Win 7 SP1 tried several versions of Flash Player and several versions of Firefox, Chrome and Opera but the same issues occur everytime.
I haven't encounter any of these issues before like 3-4 months ago.

I have had problems trying to watch videos on youtube for the past couple of years. It's been almost unbearable, even if I set the resolution to 144kb! Then a few days ago, I went to youtube and couldn't watch at all. There was an error showing that my Flashplayer was out of date, and then a link to Firefox to get the right update. I did that two times to no avail. I had just installed the newest version of Flash Player as of November 2014, yet this error kept popping up. Finally, out of utter frustration, I did like you did, and uninstalled everything related to Adobe Flash. Then I went to youtube, just to see how bad the result would be, and suddenly videos started playing smoother, at higher resolution, and with faster buffering to start out.  Sure, there are some videos that I can't play, and the newest iTunes seemed to have issues without having Flash, but videos aren't frustrating me like they had been on youtube.
So, yeah, I know what you're saying. I had the same solution work for me. Cheers.

  • Flash Player and color management

Anyone can explain how a Flash Player (ver. 9) handles color
managed JPEGs (tagged with sRGB) in a slideshow. I am getting
pretty significant shifts in color and cannot explain it why. When
the images are viewed in a color managed browser, all is fine and
correct. The moment I let them run in an swf object, all is messed
    up.
Generally, I've read that FP is not color managed (I've heard
that 10 is, but the slideshow component currently wouldn't take
advantage of it probably anyways), but I am interested to learn how
does Flash treats images with sRGB (does it strip the profile,
disregards it altogether) and what supercedes what. Flash inability
to color manage ot browser's ability to manage anything running in
    its window?
You can view the example here:
    Incorrect colors
    [L]http://www.mafani.com/gallery/mafgallery.html#id=album-15&num=10[/L]
    Correct colors
    [L]http://www.mafani.com/images/test/Picture%203.png[/L]

What I read in the spec is that FP10 only honors the color
profile if you turn the api ON in your SWF's. It's off by default.
At least that's how I read it. But I read through it pretty quick,
so I may have missed something.
Reading through the above link and
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AS3LCR/Flash_10.0/flash/display/Stage.html#colorCorrection
I'm not sure that's so clear.
    I don't have the bandwidth(or the color-corrected monitors)
to dig into this one myself right now. What I'd suggest you do is
do some testing with the API in a sample FLA/SWF. IF you then think
the colorcorrection isn't doing what it's supposed to then open a
support case against Flash CS4 at
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact.
We'll get it investigated and see what we can find out. If you do
that please post the case number back here so I can follow up on
    it..

  • Safari 4.0.3 + Flash Player Hang SBBOD Problem.

Hi, I feel like this is a bit redundant, but I've been skimming through the forums trying to figure out the answer to my problem.
My Safari was updated to 4.0.3 recently (earlier today, I believe), and now when I try to visit any site with flash-based content (youtube, certain news sites, etc.), Safari starts to hang and I have to do a "force quit". I followed instructions and was able to figure out that the Flash player plug-in caused the hanging/crashing problem.
As far as I know, I have the latest updated plug-ins. Also, I don't have any other plug-ins installed besides the default ones (my MBP is fairly new, I got it around 2 weeks ago. This is very annoying, considering that Safari was working just fine 8 hours ago (since I was still able to view flash-based websites without the hang problem).
Right now I've disabled plug-ins to avoid the hang, but it's really a nuisance and I can't figure out why the problem is happening. My best guess is that it has to do with my updating Safari from 4.0.2 to 4.0.3, but I'm no tech guru.
I'd really appreciate the help! I'm posting my latest crash report in the post below!

edit: I decided to reboot my machine just in case and now Safari is working just fine. If it hangs again I'll edit this post...

  • I too have ADOBE flash player 11 install problems.

    Hi folks.
Yes, I have seen the other posts.
    I can't get it installed.
I have a version but not the latest.
Sorry I don't know the version I have installed, but it would be about 7 or 8.
I've read other people's posts who have had their problem/s resolved.
    Alas they don't help me.
Originally I didn't know I had to exit FF, so I tried again.
Downloaded the program, exited FF, and ran it.
When I run the .exe file I get this:
    Initialisation encountered errors.
    Failed to initialise.
    And that's that.
File gone, and it doesn't install.
    Anyone?
I hope I am not making a fool of myself, but there again, it may be of benefit if I am for the sake/help of others.

You can also try this Adobe link: https://www.adobe.com/go/getflash
If the OS (XP) and browser (Firefox) is not detected correctly, click '''Do you have a different operating system or browser?''', choose '''Windows (32-bit)'''*** in Step 1, wait a few seconds and choose '''Flash Player 11 for Other Browsers (32 bit)''' in Step 2. Exit Firefox ('''File''' > '''Exit''' or '''Firefox''' button > '''Exit''') and try to install the downloaded file.

  • Client Flash Player, older version problem!

    Hi folks
I made a project with Flash Builder 4 with default SDK... It can be run in Flash Player version 10.0.45.2
But there is a problem: If client Flash Player is older than it (like 10.0.2 or 9 or less), there is no message and just client can see a solid page and nothing more.
How can I fix that? How can I give the client a message to download a last version of Flash Player? or how can I check if the client FP is older, download the last version automatically?
    regards

  • Flash player and IE6 problem

I have a problem that occurs with IE6 when a user clicks on a
button within a flash player (Flash player file being generated by
    Captivate 1.0).
The user is asked to click on some button on the .swf file
    begin displayed in the player.
Should only be one click (standard left click of the mouse
    button) on the button.
Our users are having to click twice, but only if the button
    is in the first frame.
Also I have noticed that the movie jumps up a couple of
pixels when the user first clicks the play button when using the
    embeded Captivate player control.
WHY??? anybody have any suggestions of how to correct
    this???

Hello, Adobe is working on Flash Player for the 6t-bit platform. To use Flash Player to view content on a 64-bit operating
system you must run a 32-bit browser. Following is some information that may be helpful to you.

I'm trying to install Flash Player 17 on a Mac running Yosemite, Safari 8.0.4. I've uninstalled the previous version. The installer download freezes at 25% of the download.

This morning we resolved a problem that prevented Flash Player installations from completing for some of our Macintosh users.
If you encountered this problem, please delete any previously downloaded Flash Player installer and either:
1.)      Download the installer again from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer

  • Flash Player 9 Playback Problems

    Hi all,
I have a problem with Flash Player 9 (FP9) playing certain
videos. Mostly, these videos were recorded using Camtasia. Whenever
I watch them, the video plays fine, but the audio gets off track.
It will be playing along, then it sounds as though someone bumped a
fast forward button, because for a split second, it'll sound like
Alvin and the Chipmunks. A few seconds later, for just a split
second, it'll sound like the speed slowed way down. This continues
throughout the whole video. It causes the audio not to match up with
the video, along with being very annoying...
It does this in IE and Firefox. I uninstalled and
reinstalled it numerous times, but to no avail. I finally installed
Flash Player 8 on Firefox, and it works perfectly. It doesn't do
this on my girlfriend's computer or my computer at work, both which
have FP9 installed. I even just installed a new hard drive, and
installed XP, and it even does it on my new hard drive. I have
tried everything that I can think of, and still the only solution
is to use an earlier version such as 8. Is there something I'm
missing, a plug, a patch, etc. Could it have to do with my
computer? It is a Toshiba L25-S1216. Thanks for listening, or
    should I say reading...

    Darrin,
This is the first Adobe post I've found where someone in
authority has said it would be fixed. Do you have an estimated time
when? Many of our college students are extremely frustrated because
watching our educational video content is part of the course
homework...it's already been a month into the semester and the
sound tracks are too annoying (because of FlashPlayer 9.0.115.0)
for them! We can only advise them to uninstall and reinstall an
earlier version, at their own risk, because there seems to be many
issues with that process, as well. This has been a nightmare for so
many of our instructors and students at Nashville State Community
College. Please please take down the FlashPlayer 9.0.115.0 until
you can provide a better one because right now you're just
spreading the invasion of alien sounds.

  • Flash Player Sound & Video Problem

Since I have downloaded flash player 11 my videos in explorer are not right. The video and sound are out of sync. Have searched the forums and found no fixes. Can you help? Thanks

To help troubleshoot we'll need the following system information:
    Operating   system
    Browser
    Flash   Player version
When reporting issues with video or audio, it's also helpful to get your system hardware and driver details.  Instructions for finding this information can be found here:
    Windows
    Mac
Finally, sometimes video and audio problems are caused at a lower level and not directly related to Flash Player.  I recommend trying both of the links below to see how they perform.  If the problem exists with both, then Flash Player is most likely not the culprit as the HTML5 video link does not use Flash Player when playing.  You can verify the use of HTML5 by right clicking the HTML5 video and looking for the words "About HTML5" at the bottom of the context menu.
    HTML5   video
    Non-HTML5 video

    Hi Gerard,
Are you certain there's no traces of MacKeeper left?
I have no idea how they can get away with advertising MacKeeper at all.
You really really need to uninstall it, but maybe not using their uninstaller.
