Flash Player stops installing

Flash player stops at the last window, and dosen't do anything. If I go in the browser it says that flash player wasn't installed correctly...

The different location to dl worked! Thank you Pat! I did try the links with Firefox and with Google Chrome and had the same result of the 404 error but when I checked the links on my iPhone it did show a link to download from. There's something fishy with my Mac. This same link appears in several places including the Adobe troubleshooting page and yet I still get a 404 on all of them.

  • Flash Player stops Installing at 50% Why

I use a macbook Pro OS 10.8.5 with Safari.
the installer stops at 50% and says there is an error.
I have read every thing on this site and can find no answers.
    Meg

    Meg,
    Download this file: http://tinyurl.com/kq3cu72
It's a .zip file containing a mach_kernel for OS 10.8.5. Move it to your Mac HD directory, and double click it.
Stuffit Expander should open it (If you don't have Stuffit Expander, get it here: Stuffit Expander) in that place, but it's "invisible" so you won't see it.
Once you've done that, download the Flash Player full installer for OS X and run it. It should work.
If it doesn't, you'll probably have to re-install OS 10.8

  • What do I do about the Flash Player "stop installing all applications?" window?

This window will not close.  It prevents my mac from shutting down.  It also prevents me from downloading any other programs or updates.  Flash player is successfully downloaded on my computer.

    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1195540
Also, can you post a screenshot of that message, as I have no idea what it means.  See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1070933

  • I have an IMac 10.5.2 from about 5 years ago and recently my flash player stopped responding.  I tried to update my flash player but it tells me I need an updated system to install the player.  Can anyone help me figure out how to solve this problem?

I have an imac osx 10.5.2 from about five years ago and recently my flash player stopped operating/responding.  Does anyone know if I have to install a new flash player?  I have attempted it several times and it won't let me.  I would appreciate any suggestions on how to solve this problem.  Do I need a new operating system?

Why have you not updated to 10.5.8?
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version,10.3.183.23 or later, is for Intel Macs only running Tiger or Leopard, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.4.402.265 or later is for Snow Leopard onwards.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC (G4 or G5) Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications (including Safari) first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
After installing, reboot your Mac and relaunch Safari, then in Safari Preferences/Security enable ‘Allow Plugins’. If you are running 10.6.8 or later:

  • Flash Player update install/download stops at 2 of 3

I've never had any problems in the past with installing/downloading Adobe Flash Player updates. Now I am. Why? I know Adobe Flash Player is installed on my computer, I've checked to make sure it is enabled and I have also disabled or unchecked the ActiveX filtering too. If I choose not to install Google Chrome for downloading the newest Flash Player update, does this cause the install/download to not complete and stop at 2 of 3 steps? I believe I have unchecked Google Chrome in the past with no issues, but not sure now. I usually have to go in uninstall Google Chrome because it always seems to mess with my Facebook page. So I no longer want Google Chrome installed on my computer because of this.
The install/download never gets to this point so I can finish the install/download because stops at 2 of 3 steps :
Any advise as to what to do now?

    Hi,
Based on your screenshot, I'm guessing the 'Save File' option never becomes available.  Is that correct.  I also see the file being downloaded has '14' in it, which means this is a version 14 file, which you shouldn't be getting as we're up to version 17.  I've forwarded this to the folks who handle the online installer to investigate. In the meantime, you can use the offline installer posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows page, in the 'Still having problems' section.  There are several installer types for various browsers.  You'll want to update Flash Player for all browsers you use, unless you have Windows 8.x in which case, Microsoft embeds Flash Player in IE and prevents installation using the Flash Player installer, as updates are performed via updates to IE.

    Hi Gerard,
Are you certain there's no traces of MacKeeper left?
I have no idea how they can get away with advertising MacKeeper at all.
You really really need to uninstall it, but maybe not using their uninstaller.
    Klaus1's great post on MacKeeper...

Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
Reboot & see if Flash Installer works.

  • Adobe Flash Player is installing SPYWARE! ... It is called "Google"

Upon turning my PC on today, I got the standard black pop-up window from  Adobe, advising that a new version of Flash Player was available for  download, which I agreed to do.
As the installer ran, I saw that Google Chrome was being installed  without my consent! After Flash player finished installing, I tried to  stop the "Google" installation, but couldn't!
I went directly to Control Panel and uninstalled Google Chrome before allowing the installer to finish its dirty work.
Well, the application detected this and and opened  Internet Explorer,  which I NEVER use and have Internet connection disabled through my  firewall.
This is playing dirty, Adobe! No- this isn't "playing" at all! This is illegal intrusion~ This is SPYWARE!
In the past, Adobe Flash player gave the chance to "opt out" of Google  Chrome (which we shouldn't HAVE to do), but now, we have NO CHOICE,  because Google has become WORSE than any spyware or virus! And that is   they now have the trust of the world.
Remember: Power corrupts... Absolute power corrupts absolutely!
Adobe, if you even care anymore, we are asking that you do something about this intrusion.
No one has the right to install programs without the consent of the owner of the devise. And you know it!
You guys think we have no power of choice and so can't do anything about this... That's what revolution is all about!

Just started installing Flash and clicked install as one normally does.  I noticed it started installing google so i quickly clicked cancel.
I have logged this in another thread and only afterwards spotted this one.
I have since restarted the install and now noticed the PRE-TICKED tickbox for Google installation.  I think that should be made illegal.
The company I work for deals with other large companies who use flash for online videos so unfortunately we need flahs installed.
I havn't updated flash for a while, but I now understand why I have had calls from users having difficulties using the internet as in every instance they had lost their well known microsoft explorer and coul dno longer find all the menu options and icons they were uised to.
I then have tpo de-install google and re-enable explorer for them.
Google's attitute is costing businesses money and I think they are on a fine line between promoting themselves and being common criminals.  They are not doing themseves any favors though, that's a fact!

  • Flash Player stopped working for Chrome in Windows 8

Randomly, the flash player stopped working for Chrome. I run a Windows 8 system. Everytime I go to a website that uses the flash plugin (youtube, video streaming websites) a bar pops up telling me that the plug in will only work in the desktop. I've never encountered this problem before.
    I have:
    1. Checked to see if I needed updates. I'm all updated.
    2. Reinstalled Chrome to try and fix it, to no avail.
Additionally, when I view the Flash Player settings from my control panel, under Advanced Settings, it says that the plug in version is not installed. However, I'm unable to click on that or click on the settings that say "Allow Adobe to install updates (recommended)".
What is going on? I really disllike running Chrome from the desktop and would like this to be fixed.

Chrome uses its own "proprietary" build of Flash Player, so you WON'T see any plugin in your control panel for it. You verify that it's enabled by typing "chrome://plugins" in your Chrome address bar. I'd provide a screenshot but I've REMOVED Chroime from EVERY system I have because it uses WAY TOO MUCH processor and  it was launching by itself in the background on my Win 8 machine. I won't tolerate that out of ANY software.

  • Linux - after update to firefox 5 64-bit flash player stopped working

After updating firefox 5 (from stable repo) the flash player stopped working.
I have had installed the adobe flash player square (64 bit) - by following http://queleimporta.com/en/finally-adobe-releases-native-64-bit-flash-10-for-linux/ ...
The .so library is still on its place(/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so), though firefox does not seem to have flash player installed.
before update to firefox 5 it worked
    system is Xubuntu 10.04

Finally I've found out that it's possible to install flash from lucid repositories (which works... named 'flashplugin installer')... I've never noticed that before... So sorry for asking stupid question and thanks to anyone who spend some time even only by reading this thread.
//EDIT: so question 2 - how to tag the topic as solved? :)

  • Flash player stops working after a few days.

I'm recently having issues with flash player on IE and Firefox each time a new version is released. This time the flash player stops working after a few days without any reasons. I have asked two other questions and I have tried the solutions but this time they are not working:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4617987#4617987
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4548211#4548211
Could anyone tell me what the reason is?
I also need links providing Flash player for IE and Firefox which are always updated. I need to first download the installer then install it offline not install it directly from adobe website.
Please help me solve this once forever!

  • Flash player stop to work with Firefox

Ok it’s just killing me!! Flash player stop to work
    with Firefox
All my web site users including me have this problem and I
guess all the millions of mozilla users
When you press play it’s not working or it’s no
    sound
What solve the problem is to download oldest Flash-Player
Please fix it as fast as you can.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the assistance Chris.  I tried the 11.7 option without success.  I downloaded the 11.7 file, I closed all browsers, used the flashplayer uninstaller, restarted the CPU, installed the 11.7 (with auto updates disabled).  Restarted Firefox, tested a Flickr video, same "no-play" results.
However, after doing the same thing and downloading the Archive version http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/installers/archive/fp_10.3.183.75_archive.z ip I was able to play the Flickr videos!  WooHoo.
I completed the update process to the latest version, and now the videos play properly with the latest version!
Not sure what the bad actor was, the 11.7 version did not fix it, but the older 10.3 version did!
Thanks to all for the assistance with this pain in the arse issue.

  • Adobe Flash Player stopped a potentially unsafe operation

Does anyone know what this is about: a popup appeared which
    said:
Adobe Flash Player stopped a potentially unsafe operation
The following local application on your computer or network:
    javascript:parent.payload1018
is trying to communicate with the Internet-enabled location:
    msn.server-sys.com
It then goes on to advise that if I want to allow the
communication I should click on Settings.
This sounds like a virus problem. Can anyone advise me on
    this?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for responding Gary. Pretty funny about the Google
comment - never occurred to me. Anyway I have spent the last 2 days
running many of the online scanners - Kapersky, Symantec, Macafee,
(currently running Nod32) and some malware software: Adaware,
SuperAnitSpyware, and some rootkit detectors and those are the ones
I can remember! Issues were found (some known, some not) and 2
items pointed out were actually installed by me but did not do any
damage (I looked at the registry and other places for telltale
signs of virus deployment as per Symantec instructions for those
flagged virus's but I was ok) however not one of the flagged items
explains the javascript warning. So far my computer has been on for
more than 24 hours and I have not seen any messages appear
(Javascript or otherwise) - especially since I cleaned out my
restore points. It looks like my installed antivirus software
(TrendMicro) worked for the regular virus problems and somehow
Adobe caught the javascript issue. I guess I just have to hope
there is nothing going on that is getting past them. This is what I
get for being a little risky lately. My antivirus and firewall
software are on high alert mode for the time being and we'll see
what happens from here. I take a look at the software you
suggested. If you find anything else out about the javascript error
    let me know.
    Thanks.

  • My flash player stops working after a reboot.

My flash player stops working after a reboot. i have flash 12.0.044 installed on a dell laptop with windows 7. The flash works fine until the next day when I restart my computer. If I go to control panel / programs and features I notice that the program is still there but the icon has turned blank. If I re-install it works fine until the next reboot. I have asked the IT services company we work with and they have completely ‘rebuild’ my computer. (Installed new windows etc etc) and still the problem won’t go away.  I am at a loss. Who can help? Thank you so much in advance. Duncan

I'd suggest trying a clean install: How do I do a clean install of Flash Player?

  • After 10 attempts I still cant get flash player to install, I've uninstalled it each time, but still get the same message, that i need ot exit programms that are not running. explorer is ok.

Hi there after firefox updated flash player stopped working so I was asked to update that too, I have tried both the direct x and plugin types and have installed and uninstalled it 10 times the same message comes up, halfway through the install process, that I must exit programmes that are using flash player, which since I have supposedly uninstalled it seems nonsensical, internet explorer seems unaffected, except when I uninstall flash player. I have followed all the instructions that appear on screen

You have Shockwave Flash 10.2 r152 installed in the browser that you used to post here. Best to uninstall that version before installing a later version.
As far as that message, Firefox needs to be closed before starting to install the Plugin version of Flash, so that Adobe can install the plugin for Firefox.

  • Download of last version of Flash player stops at 30%. Any help available ?

    OS X 10.10.2
    Safari 8.0.3
    Flash player version installed: 16.0.0.296
Download of installation file "AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_16_ltrosxd_aaa_aih.dmg" done without any problem
After double clicking on the Install icon, the download starts but stops at 30%.
    No change in two hours.
I tried to stop the installation but it was impossible.
The icon of the install program remains in the dock, impossible to quit.
It even prevent me to restart my computer.
I did a manual stop and tried again, starting from scratch (download of dmg file  ans so on)
    Same blocked situation.
    This problem never occurred before.
I am not a computer specialist, just a genuine user.

I just figured this out on my own as no one at Adobe will release a playbook that gives proper instructions on this issue.  If you are having issues with the application not installing all of the way, you have a permission issue on the the partition where your Yosemite OS is installed.  Here is how you fix the issue that you are experiencing:
Open Disk Utility (press Command and the Space Bar, then type disk utility)
Locate your disk and the partition where your OS installed.
Select First Aid (in the right pane next to Erase and Restore)
Locate the button "Verify Disk Permissions" and click on it.
Wait, get some coffee and relax, this will all be over soon
When Verify Disk Permissions is complete, click on the button "Repair Disk Permissions"
Now grab breakfast, lunch or dinner and tell someone you love that you love them.
After your disk permissions have been repaired, close out Disk Utility
Open the FlashPlayer installation file and run the installation again.
Finally, whew... Enjoy your entertainment fare.  You made it across the schism that Adobe loves to plague their loyal patrons with.
I hope this helps someone.  Let me know if it worked or didn't; I am curious if you all will see the same success that I have realized.
    Cheers & Many Regards,
    Geoff
