Flash player terminal server Nomachine very slow firefox 3.0.3

Hello all,
I have a serious problem which i cannot reolve by myself.
When using firefox 3.0.3 and flash 9.0.124 and 10 in a
terminal server environment with bandwidth limit to 320k firefox is
slowing down because of the limit in bandwidth.
The terminal server software caps the bandwidth usage because
we run an controlled internet environment for our business safety
and there are more then 3000 users logged in so the bandwith should
be capped for performance reasons.
When i play a flash movie from youtube or visiting sites like
http://www.derbauer.de then the
terminal server software just tels the software that it cannot
process that much bandwidth so the application slows down.
Now i have off course multiple options:
1 disabling flash (not very nice to users)
2 raise the limit (less users in our environment or more
costs for extra hardware)
3 asking Nomachine to drop frames are do something fancy with
it.
4 make an option in the flash plugin to say play this video
with only 1 frame per second
The last isn't very nice for people either but flash
applications still work only viewing flash video's is not as good
as people want.
What are your thoughts on this?
With kind regards
William van de Velde

EDIT: Oh, and you have very little free RAM and lots of Page Outs. So, in fact, first thing to do is to simply restart and only have FF open and test.
First thing to do is to start FF in Safe Mode and see how it's working. This will temporarily disable all Add-ons and use a clean Profile. If it's running OK there, then it's time to look at your Add-ons to find a culprit, or start with a new clean Profile.
Hold down the Option (alt) key when opening FF.
You should also get rid of the steam clean thing. Those cleaning programs, if that's what this thing is, are dangerous and not needed.

  • Flash Player - Terminal Server/Remote Desktop

I am running Windows Server 2003. When I login directly as
administrator, I can install Flash Player from the Adobe website.
Then when I login via Remote Desktop as administrator, Flash Player
is detected and works in IE. However, when I login via Remote
Desktop as a regular user, Flash Player is not detected. I believe
the problem is that I have to install Flash Player from the Control
Panel->Add/Remote Program. To do this, I need a setup.exe file
for Flash Player. Do you know where I can one? Thanks in
    advance.

Well I had the same issues and spent 3 days looking on the internet for solutions and trying many of them and nothing worked by itself. But when I took 3 of the solutions and mixed them together it work like a charm. Below is what I did to get my terminal server users able to use flash.
    1.       Logon to the server as the local administrator or with an account with admin rights that does not map a home folder like H:. if your home folder is mapped it the installer will think windows directory is h:\windows instead of c:\windows. I used the local administrator account.
    2.       Download the Adobe flash uninstaller from here http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
    3.       Put it in a folder like c:\temp on the terminal server
    4.       Open a command prompt and go the folder you saved the uninstall_flash_player.exe in
    5.       At the prompt type uninstall_flash_player.exe /clean
    6.       Click the Details button. If it lists any files as "Delete on reboot", then reboot now. Otherwise, just carry on.
    7.       Download the latest Flash Player (10 in this instance) as a standalone version and save it to the hard drive/ network share. Get the standalone version 10 from here: http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_playe r_10_active_x.exe
    8.       Use the Control Panel Add/Remove programs method to install it. This ensures that the Windows install notification API triggers correctly (as opposed to executing change user /install in a command prompt).
    9.       Use regedit and find the following 3 keys and do the same for all 3 keys: right click the key select permissions, select everyone and remove before clicking apply select the Advanced button and click the Replace permissions on all child objects, click Ok then Yes on the security window then Apply. Now Add everyone and click on Read then Advance button and click the Replace permissions on all child objects, click Ok then Yes on the security window then Ok. Now repeat on the next 2 keys. (By clicking Read then Advanced it selects a few other permissions so please do it this way)
    a.       HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000}
    b.      HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{D27CDB70-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000}
    c.       HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{D27CDB6B-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}
    10.   I then logged off and logged on as a standard user and went to a site needing Flash and it worked.
    11.   I then had some users try it without even logging out and it work for them.
This is what worked for me on all 3 of the 2003 Terminal Servers with IE7 needing Flash 10.
I hope this might help someone else as this has driven me up a wall…

  • I've down loaded adobe flash player but when I try to veiw video on firefox I'm still told that I need adobe flash player. How do I get firefox to see the flash player download?

I was trying to view a video I uploaded to facebook using firefox. The system told me to down load adobe flash player. I did but still get the message that I need to down load flash player. How do I get firefox to see the down loaded adobe flash player?

by installing from within Firefox, Internet Explorer has its own version (Active-X).
Make sure you are starting in the correct place for Flash
    * http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
If you want to read PDF files in you browser, you might also want
    * http://get.adobe.com/reader/
    After the download,
#bring up the download manager ("Ctrl+J") and start your installs. As soon as the install comes up,
#close Firefox with '''File > Exit''' or "Firefox" button > Exit. Give Firefox some time to close.
#If install does not proceed, '''terminate "firefox.exe"''' and '''"plugin-container.exe"''' from the "Processes" tab in the Windows Task Manager.
#* Windows 7 shortcut to the WTM is "Ctrl+Shift+Esc"
#* or on any Windows system from "Ctrl+Shift+Esc" then choose Windows Task Manager.
#*Make sure that "firefox.exe" is no longer running -- if it is still running then terminate it by selecting the use "End Process" button or from context menu, and do the same for "plugin-container.exe" if it is found there.
    #proceed with the install.
'''Warning''': this is the Adobe site and they have chosen to to provide crapware along with their own product. Only install the product you were planning to install. Do not install additional products: including -- "Free! McAfee Security Scan Plus" or "Google Chrome". Installing Google Chrome on your own and installing it because it is offered on the Adobe site are two different things.
Find updates for your installed plugins at http://www.mozilla.com/plugincheck/ mozilla.com/plugincheck
-- best to use Adobe's site to really see if their plug-ins are up to date.
Please fix your caps lock or read what you type, do you think anybody could read my answer if I typed in all caps.
If the above fails to correct the problem, I would try uninstalling Adobe Flash from your system entirely first, from the control panel then "Programs and Features".

  • Installing Adobe Flash Player 10.0.42 Plugin for Firefox 3.5.7

I currently have Firefox 3.5.7 installed and am trying to access a site that requires the current version of Adobe Flash Player (10.0.42). When I download and install it, the website still doesn't recognize flash player being installed.
I go to Adobe.com, make sure I am downloading the one for WinXP/Firefox and install it, then it says that it is successfully installed. However, when I try to access the site, and it says that the current version of flash player is not installed, with a link to the adobe site to download the latest version (which I already did).
I have tried uninstalling the flash player, from both Windows and Adobe's uninstaller, and reinstalling with no success. I have even tried uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox, still nothing. For fun, I tried updating IE, and it works fine, but I REALLY don't like IE.
Another note: when I uninstall Flash Player, it doesn't remove it from my machine (add/remove program list), even when Windows asks, "Adobe ... is already uninstalled, would you like to remove it from the list?" Additionally, when I go to Adobe's Flash Player version tester site, it reports that IE is running version 10.0.42, but when I access it with FF, it shows a link to download the latest Adobe FP.

Which is the main causes to server slow down???.....How to solve this problem????

The first message seems to indicate that a connection was made on the socket but closed prematurely. I get this often on my Tomcat installation when our corporate virus scanners kick in, probing network ports. I wouldn't worry about that one.
The second one is indicating a deadlock on your database. I would say that your problem lies there.

  • The new flash player update crashes internet explorer and firefox

The new flash player update crashes internet explorer and firefox, please send a new release to fix the problem ASAP!

ok   here's more mystery.  i just uninstalled and reinstalled flash player using the adobe uninstaller and rebooting after each step.  aqlso installed latest java.  i started looking at videos and here are the ones that worked: you tube
                                                                                           imdb
                                                                                           hulu
                                                                                           ebaumsworld
here are the ones that didn't work:    yahoo
                                                                                           msn
                                                                                           reuters
here are the ones that partially worked: the blaze (works on videos that originate from you tube, but not from news stories)
bing (work on videos from their video section - entertainment type, but not from news videos)
the common thing here seems to be that news type videos crash and entertainment type don't.  also videos seem more likely to crash on internet portals like yahoo

  • Very Slow Firefox

Hi! I have recently been experiencing problems with Firefox - new tabs take ages to appear, navigating through tabs is a drag, videos do not play properly, typing is very slow, the thinking ball appears randomly etc. By now I am quite frustrated, especially since deleting cache and cookies twice, or restarting my Mac twice did not seem to help. Performance improves for a bit, but then is back to its slow self. I ran EtreCheck (output below), but do not know how to decrease its process memory usage (if that is the problem). Finally, this has never happenned before.

  • Problem with Flash player in Ubuntu 11.04 for Firefox

I am running Ubuntu 11.04 on my laptop and use firefox as my main browser.
I have a very strange experience when browsing video sites like Youtube.com or Bumperhit.com
Some videos are playing all right.
But some others, show an error message "Please install Flash Player" etc etc.
I am unable to understand, why this is happening only for some videos?
Also when I try to install the flash Player from Adobe's site, there is no option to save the program.
I would like to save the program, so that I have to download the installable multiple times.
Thank you in advance for your valuable guidance.
    Regards

Adobe offers the Flash installer as a tar.gz archive and as an rpm archive.<br />
Both files can be opened with a proper archive manager and you can copy to libflashplayer.so to a plugins folder in the Firefox Profile Folder (you need to create that folder) or to another folder that Firefox scans for plugins if you do not want to install the plugin via the software installer.

  • Flash Player 11.4.402.265 and Firefox 15/15.0.1 Not Compatible?

I have mentioned this in two recent posts, but wanted to start a new thread to call attention to what I believe is an important issue.
Starting with the update of Firefox 15, and continuing into version 15.0.1, my Firefox browser has logged a series of "silent" crashes.  By silent I mean that there was no visible sign that a crash had taken place.  I found out about them by typing about:crashes into Firefox's address bar.  (I actually do this about once per week just to make sure that there are no problems that should be addressed.)
All of the crashes--and there were dozens--were "empty" in that no source could be identified.  Specifically, the following appeared at the top of each crash report:
Firefox Crash Reports [@ EMPTY: no crashing thread identified; corrupt dump ]
In addition, the crashes were intermittent.   I checked this out by constantly checking for new crashes after calling up various web sites.  For instance, I would would go to Google News, check for a crash report, go to a feature story, check for a crash report, watch a YouTube video, check for a crash report, close Firefox, open it, check for a crash report, etc.  What I found was that I often would visit 20 or more sites before a crash report was filed; however,  an average of  ten crashes appeared daily--again, all with NO indication of what had caused the crash.
At first, I could see no pattern, so I troubleshooted by enabling/disabling hardware acceleration for both Firefox and Flash Player, enabling/disabling cookies, enabling/disabling JavaScript, etc. I spent several hours doing this.
I also scoured the various Firefox "help" forums, but it seemed that the same answers appeared on all of the forums, and they pretty much echoed the troubleshooting steps I had taken. (It seems that the major issue now is the fact that hardware acceleration causes Firefox 15.0.1 to crash for many users.)
Finally, I noticed that I had been on a site containing an embedded flash video, just prior to a crash.  (Interestingly, I never received a crash report after watching a YouTube video on YouTube.)   I then tried disabling Protected Mode in Flash Player, which worked several months ago after the new "sandboxing" provision was introduced, and was found to be incompatible with the then-version of Firefox. So far, this has stopped all crashes.  After three days of normal usage and surfing, there have been no reports, whereas, prior to doing this, I was averaging at least one per hour.
This leads me to believe that the designers of the  latest version of Firefox have either omitted whatever code string was used to fix the problem that occurred last June, or some new, incompatible code has been included.    Either way, I think that this should be looked into by BOTH Adobe and Mozilla as soon as possible--but especially by Mozilla, since Flash Player 11.4.402.265 worked just fine with Firefox 14.0.1.
It should be noted, by the way, that I did a recent check of Firefox's "top crashers" and the empty crash report is by far the most common--over 877,000 at the time I checked.  If I understood the graph, there has been an escallation since the introduction of version 15.0.  How many of them are silent, and therefore, unnoticed by the users, is anyone's guess, but I suspect that I'm not the only user on the planet this is happening to.
In case it's needed, I'm using:
Windows 7, Home Premium Service Pack 1 (Windows Classic user interface)
    Firefox 15.0.1
    Flash Player 11.4.402.265
Hardware Acceleration disabled for both Firefox and Flash Player
Since all of my crash reports, prior to disabling Protected Mode, were useless, I have deleted them.

This appeared before I disabled Flash Player's Protected Mode, but coincides with one of the empty crashes reported in Firefox.  I know nothing about Windows crashes, where to find the reports, etc.

    Hi schützenkönig:
Many thanks for posting!  As you can see, I made my initial post over a week ago, and since there were no responses, I thought perhaps I was the only one this was happening to!
In any event, disabling Protected Mode is the only way I've found to prevent the crashes from happening.
I posted about this on the mozillazine forum -- http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2551745&sid=7e877237158ffdc560789fb668c 858c0 -- but didn't get very far.  Apparently, Firefox is blaming Adobe and has no plans to do anything about it.  I was given some reassurance, however, by the comment that adblock plus offers protection from harmful flash content.
By the way, I made a follow on post when I downloaded the latest version of Flash Player -- 11.4.402.278  -- http://forums.adobe.com/message/4708561#4708561
Unfortunately, it did nothing to fix the problem.

  • Bandwith Problem with Flashes over Terminal Server

I get huge problems with viewing flash on Citrix Terminal
Server. Everytime a user opens up a website with Flashes in it, it
consumes the rest off the bandwith. This slows down all other user
on the site. This happens over RDP and ICA Connection. Microsoft
dont want to have a solution for this problem. they know it but...
. The same ist for Citrix. I hope that Adobe can give me an
acceptable solution. What can i do, to tune up Flashes over the
    Terminal Server?
Thanks a lot for your help.

    Leo,
What is your Vc version ? Also pls do check the SAP note 886209 if it helps in any way .
We had some deployment issues which were fixed using this .

  • Flash player 16.0.0.296 - slow and laggy

When there was a 11 version, everything was fine, nothing slows, hardware acceleration works fine.
But it was necessary to install 12,13 and above, 90% of video on the flash players began to slow down.
And this has been going on for a long time, on different hardware, video cards ..
In html5 all perfectly played, with almost no lag..
Tested on various configurations, different browsers(latest versions) - Opera, firefox, chrome, slow even on powerful hardware..
At home I have 4770k and GTX 650, reinstall the system / driver, still lag, as with hardware acceleration and without.
At work I have a 3970k and GTX 680, flash player still laggy almost on most common browsers, on html5 almost everything is fine.
This is not harware problem, because everything else works fine, just laggy Flash Player adds a white veil on video, with hardware acceleration on.

Disabling hardware is going to hurt performance, as you've shifted all of the work of decoding and rendering from the GPU to the CPU.  For Firefox, because of how the sandboxing model works, the impact is probably a multiple of what you see on Opera, where there's no NPAPI sandboxing.  Opera Next uses the PPAPI Flash Player, which is both sandboxed and done in a way that's much more efficient.
I'm not quite sure what I'm looking at in the screenshots.  Blur and alpha effects (which is what I think I'm seeing in that right screenshot) might require hardware depending on how they're implemented (Stage3D pixel shaders) and may not be rendered in software mode (you've disabled hardware, so we're in SW mode).  If you're using the PPAPI plug-in in Opera, the hardware acceleration setting wouldn't have propagated from the NPAPI version, which might explain why it's still enabled there (or Opera just ignores the NPAPI setting for whatever reason - we don't really spend a lot of time with Opera because of the small market-share).
So you really want hardware enabled for performance reasons, but the issues you're seeing with hardware acceleration are not expected.  I know that some people running intel i7 chips have been complaining about stuttering video playback, but setting processor affinity usually provides a decent workaround, and I have bugs filed to look at the underlying issue.  There's no ETA at this time, as we don't have a diagnosis there and it's unclear if the processor issue is correlation or causation.  It's a popular modern chip, so it might just be showing up a lot...
