Flash Player Update 11.4.402.278 (Active-X and Plug in).

I have Windows Vista Home Premium SP 2 and IE9
1.     Browser tells me I have wrong version of Flash Player.
2.     Control panel says I have version 11.
3.     I accept download option and start to download 11.4.402.278 from install_flashplayer11x32ax_gtbp_chrd_aih.exe
4.     at 50% of install it tells me to close IE.
5.     I Close IE and install completes
6.     Web site opens up to tell me my download was successful.
7.     I open a new browser tab, go to my home page (happens to be virgin media). It tells me again I do not have the latest version on Flash Player
8.     Control panel tells me I have version 11 installed.
9.      I go to http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html to check installed version - it shows me a blank box - no flash player version, no OS are displayed!
10.    Flash Player settings manager says I have 11.4.402.278 (Active-X and Plug in) and we go round again.
I have tried to run the file, save and run the file, and restart windows.  I have turned on automated Adobe updates.
I have checked this thing up and down and still
1.     Adobe says I have downloaded and installed successfully.
2.     Windows tells me the product is there.
3.     The browser says it is the wrong version.
4.     The Adobe help site can find no version.
5.     I can see no flash content as my player is "not current"
The help page offers check (and shows me nothing) - install (won't run if browser is open but tells me it has installed after I close the browser) - and solve issues (if it actually identified the issues above and helped me solve them wouldn't that be something!)

  • Adobe Flash Player Update Service 11.6 r602 stopped working and was closed?

After trying many different fixes including uninstalling flash player  and unsuccessfully trying to reinstall it, would consistently stop  loading at about 57 percent.  Either there are remains of registry keys interfering or your site or my computer has been attacked.  No malware showing after checking with antivirus.  Seen same message on other computers.  Had to restore computer to earlier date but lost some contact info in the process in  Skype.  Possible problem from trying to install internet tv software, but restored to previous point there to.  Computer works ok but slowed on internet considerably but message shows continuously daily need a better solution or let your site analyze my flash player. What can I do?

thank you for your info, I did edit the question to show I was using vista (business to be specific).  I will try again with some afterthoughts.  Will enable Java first.  I remember that was a problem in a  previous update, I thought that was always running and go through the steps again.  I don't feel comfortable messing with the registry and if you can add some advice on how to deal with that safely that would be appreciated also.  Thank you so much for your quick response.  Also, isupgrade to explorer 10 recommended for vista or is it suppose to accommodate windows 8.  I don't want to be a beta tester before they work out all the kinks sincerelyadobelougLou Grubin

  • New Update -- Flash Player version 11.4.402.278

A few hours ago, I downloaded the latest Flash Player for Windows 7 (Firefox), version 11,4,402,278 from http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/  I have Flash Player's automatic update feature disabled, and check manually for updates every few days.
I'm glad to report, so far, that I have not experienced the silent, empty crashes I reported in this post string:  http://forums.adobe.com/message/4704326#4704326  that were related to Flash Player's Protected Mode used with Firefox 15.0 & 15.0.1.
(Prior to downloading the update, I re-enabled Protected Mode, since I wasn't sure that the mms.cfg file would be over-written or modified to its default state by the update.)
Hopefully, this has taken care of the issue.  If not, I'll post a follow-on message.
    Ortho_Fan

Well, it was too much to hope for, I guess.  The crash reports started coming in about an hour ago.  All empty, and all connected with a site with embedded Flash content.  I just re-disabled Protected Mode.
I'm wondering if this is EVER going to be fixed.

  • Adobe Flash player updates not installing! Help?

I am facing problem while installing Adobe Flash Player while updating, Why this is happening? Please help!
Getting error message while I click on Update
I am using Windows XP on HP Mini
    http://waxspace.com/

    Hi DanKao,
    You can try this document:
Error "...plug-in is unresponsive" | Google Chrome | Debugging Flash Builder project
    For Mozilla:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/warning-unresponsive-plugin
Also if there is any toolbar installed on the browser, try uninstalling it from the browser and check the performance.
If it works then good other wise you can try the following steps:
    1. Uninstall Flash Player from Control Panel --> Programs ( Both Active X and Plugin )
    2. Download the uninstaller for Flash Player and Sockwave
    Flash Player Uninstaller
    Shockwave Player Uninstaller
    3. Run the Uninstaller for both of them.
    4. Delete the Flash Folder from the following locations:
         C:\Windows\System32\Macromed
         C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia
         C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe
    5. Download Flash Player
    http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_ 15_active_x.exe
    http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_ 15_plugin.exe
    Download Both and install.
    6. Download Shockwave Flash:
    http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/otherversions
You need to open this link in Firefox and download the Full installer after choosing operating system and then again open the same link in IE and download the Full installer after choosing operating system.

The Flash Player is not running but it is there and it is enabled and Active X is not checked. The Player version is 16.0.0.305.  I have the latest ie11 and the latest W8.1. I have used the Adobe tool to delete the Flash and subsequently I have updated or reloaded Flash using your updater.  I have gone into IE options and insured that the settings are supportive of Flash.  The Adobe mini Flash test program on your site says it not enabled or Active X is enabled - not true - all is set as it should be.  I have gone through your forums but to no avail.  I've looked in MS forums but nothing that made any difference.  What's going on and what can I do about it?

Try using Firefox. Flash usually works on Firefox when it won't on Safari. I noticed that the Safari does not show the same version as Firefox does. Iwonder if that could be the problem. Safari on the left shows 10.1, Firefox show 10.3

  • 02/18/13 Flash Player Update Has Scripting Errors

    Win XP
    IE 8
    11.6.602.168
Attempted to install the Flash Player update that apparently released this morning and my install was interrupted by the following scripting error.
    Line 1
    Char 13128
    'ActionGtbCheck' is undefined
    Code 0
    URL" http://127.0.0.1:2318/app/_js/adobe.js
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
I used the link to the install that the Update Notifier gave me. It appears that I actually have a version installed already that is for IE9 not IE8. Not sure why Adobe would have had me upgrade to an incompatible version or why the Update Notifier is telling me to patch if I already have the most recent version installed Either way, this needs to be fixed. My scripting options are all checked as directed in your tutorial. My Java is also patched and active.
Downloads should be quick and pain free. All I should have to do is click Install and it should happen. Whatever is going on here needs to be fixed on YOUR end. Customer service chat told me that they are unable to help and suggested I purchase a $39 phone call in order to notify Adobe about the problems with their install. LOLOLOL

If Adobe is one of the few non-public sector companies left in the US who still observe President's Day by closing their doors and giving staff a holiday then kudo's to them! If this was the case, then might I suggest that releasing a patch the day before the holiday closure might not have been the wisest course of action?
Pat, I could begin with the on-line chat individual who tried to sell me troubleshooting for a properly functioning system when I was trying to report an issue with the patcher and perhaps also receive some acknowledgement that the issue was known (or not) and being addressed. But let's not go there. I will suggest, that if you believe ignoring those who have questions about your product for an extended length of time is an acceptable way to engage in business, then perhaps you have a bright and promising future at the local mall. End of that topic.
Chris, I don't understand what you mean by "appropriate stand alone Windows installers". I clicked the link embedded in the update notification and it took me directly to the installer that I attempted to use and that subsequently returned the scripting error. So how could that not be appropriate? But comparing the version the site says is already on my system to the version numbers given on the patch it appears that I already have the most recent version installed.
If this is the case then perhaps the error was actually in the program that checks for the patches thinking I even needed a patch? Also when I checked the system specs for the download I don't think it listed it as being appropriate for IE 8, which is the most current version available for XP, so perhaps that's causing errors? So I'm confused as to what's going on.
At this point I'm not certain I need to do anything other than wait for Adobe developers to troubleshoot the patcher? The version of Flash I have installed, though it has the memory issues that have been the topic on this thread for months (http://forums.adobe.com/message/5089040#5089040), seems to be performing the same as it usually does. It still takes 15 minutes or longer to load the thumbnails on the Netflix homepage and Hulu, but I can at least use the Hulu player if I'm willing to ignore the flickering and occasional freezing. Silverlight, as always, runs beautifully.
Of more concern are potential security loopholes that might still be unplugged if my version isn't correctly updated. I was actually hacked just viewing a fan site and had a game account stolen about a year and a half ago June, when a newly released Flash version left out a security correction included in the older code.
Thanks to both of you for taking the time to respond to my posts. I realize I was not at my sweetest and most adorable while posting.

  • Flash Player update Installation w/o local admin privileges

    Hi guys!
I'm a trainee at a small "electrical retailer".
We set up an Active Directory with a Windows 2011 Essentials last week.
There are several Win XP and 7 Clients. Users have no administrative rights, but they can install Windows Updates (group policy).
And here comes the problem: each time adobe flash player wants to download and install an update you have to promote with an administrator account.
Is there a possibility to grant special rights to the adobe installer? Is there an opportunity to integrate flash player updates into the group policy oder WSUS?
    Thanks a lot!

Just an update to Pat's post.  A full install, such as 11.2 will actually require admin privileges.  However, subsequent updates using the new silent auto update mechanism will work fine on a standard user account without admin intervention.

  • Why does Flash Player Update ask for update preferences if it has no intention of retaining them?

I find it completely maddening that Flash Player Update asks me for my update preferences every time I update it.  Retain my preferences if you're going to ask for them.  Furthermore, I'm never going to install Mcafee, please provide me a way to disagree with their terms of service so you don't have to ask anymore.
    Thanks!

I also find this issue deeply frustrating. Every time Flash Player installs it asks again, and every time it's reset the option back to "Allow Adobe to install updates". Unless I'm mistaken, the only people who see this window are those who selected the "Notify me" option previously, so there's absolutely no reason why it should be reset every time.
Except that I assume the reason is because Adobe wants to trick those people who simply click-through into choosing the "Allow" option. I can understand the security motivation for persuading people to have updates installed automatically, but for anyone making an active choice to have notifications, it's actually very annoying, especially when it must have been a conscious policy decision by Adobe.
I've opened a feature request/bug on this as suggested: https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3485588
Here's a screenshot of the offending window for reference:

  • Bug in Flash Player update?

There appears to be a bug in the most recent flash player update.  I have Acrobat Pro on my desktop, and Adobe Reader on my laptop, and had the same problem on both.  After installing the most recent update for Flash Player, my Microsoft Life Cam would not work on web pages through Internet Explorer.  The camera shows a freeze frame when it's activated, but does not stream video.  My laptop has a built in camera that functions fine, so it appears the problem is occurring only with the Microsoft Life Cam.  I did a system restore to a point before the update was installed, and it now works fine again.  Not sure if this is the correct posting location.  Didn't know if you were aware of the issue, but you should be.  Thank you

I agree. There are bugs. Looks like Flash Player was updated this past April.
I could watch videos prior to this.
I use Vista 64 bit with  FireFox 32 bit and Adobe Flash Player version 11 (latest) and it does not work anymore

  • Notification from Adobe regarding  Flash Player Updates

    Hello,
I work with a county wide non profit library system and we seem to have issues every so often with bringing up websites that use Adobe Flash to run their video player and game functionalities within the websites.   I've contacted Adobe to try and find out if there's any way at all that we could get on an email Distribution list to notify us everytime the Flash Player application plug-in for the web gets updated.  This would give us a "heads-up" pro active approach to this issue and allow us to serve our patrons more efficiently and effectively rather than waiting till we get complaints that our PCs aren't running Flash on them when we know that we are and the build just isn't the same.
    Any Help would be appreciated.

  • Adobe Flash Player Update Service 11.3 r300 has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are

    I get following message:
Adobe® Flash® Player Update Service 11.3 r300 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
    How can I solve this?

    People,
Listen. This service is, has been and seemingly will be: FREE. So while emotions are running on the hot side of the guage, let's remember; it is FREE. Adobe owes no one anything. Now who's to blame, really? We, the people are to blame. Why? Because everyone has been ok with the fact that one company essentially designed and released a technology for streaming from the net. One company. And almost all of us are using this one company's technology to stream; for FREE.
But now we are not ok with it when, after we are prompted to update, we have the issue of it not working? We all never saw the ridiculously high potential for this one company to screw things up, intentionally or otherwise? What the ramifications, that we are now experiencing, might be? Nah, we just took it for granted that we would continue to be served. Well the serve came, everyone. Mistake or otherwise.
It's like this country [US], up until four-years ago. Everyone was either running around with snow shovels and hefty garbage bags to gather all the money they were making or sailing the seas of expectation and an, 'I am out there to get mine' attitude, and then the sh*t hits the fan and now people are complaining? About the very system until four years ago was spoon feeding them poolside with mai-tai's? While it was crushing everyone else in the known world?
No doubt it seems incredulous that a multi-billion dollar company has an IT department that would include in an update, for their own software, that would be inconducive to working. No doubt. But keep in mind: we are all either using browsers by Apple or MS. Anything happens to these browsers, including a virus or anything else that threatens our use of them and...?
So climb off the haughty, 'I deserve' crap and walk on the solid ground of trying to resolve this issue here at Adobe and around the net. If we were to band together, as the 99%, we could solve this, no problem. But then that holds true with resolving this fictitious economic downturn nonsense, that we solidly take for truth at face value, because our mainstream media says so. But no other species on this rock flying through space would know what the f*ck we were talking about.

  • Flash Player Update disables "restore all windows from last session" in Safari on Mac

I am on Mac OS 10.9.5, using safari 7.1.2.  Adobe Flash Player Update loses all safari windows when after update the installer automatically opens safari and just opens flash player website; the "restore all windows from last session" is grayed out in history. The "reopen last closed window" is also grayed out. It has been happening ever since and happened again when I just installed Flash Player ver 16.0.0.257.
For all other normal working situation I can close safari and reopen and see that I can "restore all windows from last session" and there is no problem.  But on flash Player install (set on manual install), the problem is annoying and costs me a lot of time to restore one by one from history.  I do not think this is a Mac or a Safari issue, but will update to Mac Yosemite help if Adobe Flash Player is updated differently in that setup?
    Please help.

Update: I called adobe flash player technical support phone number 1 877-587-1877.  They want $59 (warranty only 6 months) to fix this problem as they use a third party to solve this issue; they themselves provide no support.  Or buy the paid version.  They insist it is my network issue which I absolutely can not believe.
It is adobe Flash player update that forces reopening of safari and wracks the safari losing all windows from last session. That is not my network.  Adobe does not have a proper safari compatible flash player update.
Besides, this is a known problem at Adobe and they are not fixing it and want money to fix it one person at a time!  They also shared that 25% to 30% of the installations have this problem... wow!! and they still will not fix it in a general update!  I wonder if safari has a plug in update that can fix this?
