Flash player update needed??

I can't play videos on my ipad  and get a message that I need to update my flash player, but my husband has no issue watching videos on his iPad. What am I missing?

iDevices have never supported Flash so there is nothing to update. There are some alternative browsers that claim to have limited support for Flash. One of the most popular is Puffin browser.

    I get following message:
Adobe® Flash® Player Update Service 11.3 r300 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
    How can I solve this?

    People,
Listen. This service is, has been and seemingly will be: FREE. So while emotions are running on the hot side of the guage, let's remember; it is FREE. Adobe owes no one anything. Now who's to blame, really? We, the people are to blame. Why? Because everyone has been ok with the fact that one company essentially designed and released a technology for streaming from the net. One company. And almost all of us are using this one company's technology to stream; for FREE.
But now we are not ok with it when, after we are prompted to update, we have the issue of it not working? We all never saw the ridiculously high potential for this one company to screw things up, intentionally or otherwise? What the ramifications, that we are now experiencing, might be? Nah, we just took it for granted that we would continue to be served. Well the serve came, everyone. Mistake or otherwise.
It's like this country [US], up until four-years ago. Everyone was either running around with snow shovels and hefty garbage bags to gather all the money they were making or sailing the seas of expectation and an, 'I am out there to get mine' attitude, and then the sh*t hits the fan and now people are complaining? About the very system until four years ago was spoon feeding them poolside with mai-tai's? While it was crushing everyone else in the known world?
No doubt it seems incredulous that a multi-billion dollar company has an IT department that would include in an update, for their own software, that would be inconducive to working. No doubt. But keep in mind: we are all either using browsers by Apple or MS. Anything happens to these browsers, including a virus or anything else that threatens our use of them and...?
So climb off the haughty, 'I deserve' crap and walk on the solid ground of trying to resolve this issue here at Adobe and around the net. If we were to band together, as the 99%, we could solve this, no problem. But then that holds true with resolving this fictitious economic downturn nonsense, that we solidly take for truth at face value, because our mainstream media says so. But no other species on this rock flying through space would know what the f*ck we were talking about.

  • Help needed installing Flash Player Update on Mac

I am trying to install a flash player update on Mac - right now the one site I'm trying to use says flash is out of date.   Will not accept my adobe password, reset it through the adobe site and still will not work.  Tried Chat help and agent said to reset password through the Apple screen.  When  I try that it asks for apple id and password but there is only a place for the password.  Any suggestions.

    Hi,
This is the OS (Apple) prompting for the password, not Flash Player, therefore, the password is your Apple password, not Adobe ID password.  Please see What userid & password do I need to install Flash Player?

I get the following message as soon as I boot up my PC:
"Adobe Flash Player Update Service 11.3 r300 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Anyone else experiencing the same problem?
According to Adobe, this is the first time they've heard of this issue.

Unchecking auto updates does not stop the message for me.
Sorry to hear that too.  I actually recommended this to a few friends who were having the same issue, and it worked for them.
But, I'm wondering....  Have you tried disabling the check for updates settings in both the (Window's Control Panel's) Global settings manager and the (online) Global Notifications Settings panel?  (That's the one on this page -- http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager02.htm l )  On that page, click on the "Globe with the Check Mark" tab and make sure that the box is blank.
    Hope this helps.

  • Adobe Flash Player Update 13._ _ _ _  _ _ _ _

Downloaded Adobe Flash Player 13 a few days ago after Adobe kept prompting me to update for an enhanced video player experience with popups from Adobe.  Every time I go to play a video or game, this VERY annoying pop up askes me to accept or deny third party storage on my computer which also allows them to access my info.
I DO NOT ACCEPT, however, it is very resistant to disappearing after several attempts.  How do I get rid of this stupid popup.  I WILL NOT ALLOW A THIRD PARTY TO ACCESS OR STORE.
Adobe people, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING by making this a part of your perfectly good program?  This is not something you make the public aware of before downloading.......shame on you.
PLEASE GIVE ME OPTIONS FOR REMOVAL IMMEDIATELY!

    You're infected with adware.
It didn't come from Adobe but it DOES use Flash Player to run the popups.
There are literally millions of fake "Flash Player Updates" out there, and you most likely got one. It installed the adware with it.
You'll need to run a throrugh system scan to remove the offending software, and afterward, ONLY update Adobe software from this site, to prevent a reoccurrance.

  • Flash player update

i repeatedly get the message that flash player may need to be updated evan after i update i still get the message and it will not let me do a google search.  This happens on my windows 7 pc and android.f

There is no Flash Player for Android, so you CAN'T update that.
If you're using IE11 with Windows 7, you're probably seeing the result of...
    "User-Agent Strings"
That doesn't mean a lot, I'm sure, but it's the root of your problems, and Flash Player has nothing to do with it.
Microsoft "rewrote" the User-Agent Strings for the abomination they call their latest and greatest browser (Read more here).
User-Agent Strings are what websites use to identify the browser you're using and provide the proper content for it's browser engine, like ActiveX stuff, and Flash or HTML5 video.
Thanks to the geniuses in Redmond, WA, the User-Agent Strings for IE11 (which has a Trident engine), ID it as either "Gecko" (Firefox) or "Webkit" (Chrome).
Trouble is: when the site the directs to the content for one of these two engines, the Trident engine in IE can't interpret it and the site then sees IE as an "unidentified" browser.
The problem with an unidentified browser is that the plug-ins in that browser aren't recognized either, so even though you're up to date, it says you need the latest Flash Player when you use IE11.
YouTube... has converted to HTML5 video so if it doesn't detect Flash Player, it can display HTML5 (MP4) video which requires no plug-in to play.
Facebook can't do that, because HTML5 doesn't apply to games... only video.
Microsoft has no plans to "fix" the mess they've created because they think it's a great idea to block you out of the websites you visit.
They recommend using "Compatibility View" and pretending that you're using an older version of IE...
The Problem with THAT is that it's seen limited success, and you have to enable it for EVERY page that has problems... individually.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that, because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.
There is one other possibility, being as you're seeing this with multiple devices on multiple platforms..
    If you're seeing THIS:
Specifically, "FlashPlayer Pro"... then you could be a victim of a router hack.
Hackers have hacked 300000+ wireless routers, Check yours NOW!

  • 02/18/13 Flash Player Update Has Scripting Errors

    Win XP
    IE 8
    11.6.602.168
Attempted to install the Flash Player update that apparently released this morning and my install was interrupted by the following scripting error.
    Line 1
    Char 13128
    'ActionGtbCheck' is undefined
    Code 0
    URL" http://127.0.0.1:2318/app/_js/adobe.js
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
I used the link to the install that the Update Notifier gave me. It appears that I actually have a version installed already that is for IE9 not IE8. Not sure why Adobe would have had me upgrade to an incompatible version or why the Update Notifier is telling me to patch if I already have the most recent version installed Either way, this needs to be fixed. My scripting options are all checked as directed in your tutorial. My Java is also patched and active.
Downloads should be quick and pain free. All I should have to do is click Install and it should happen. Whatever is going on here needs to be fixed on YOUR end. Customer service chat told me that they are unable to help and suggested I purchase a $39 phone call in order to notify Adobe about the problems with their install. LOLOLOL

If Adobe is one of the few non-public sector companies left in the US who still observe President's Day by closing their doors and giving staff a holiday then kudo's to them! If this was the case, then might I suggest that releasing a patch the day before the holiday closure might not have been the wisest course of action?
Pat, I could begin with the on-line chat individual who tried to sell me troubleshooting for a properly functioning system when I was trying to report an issue with the patcher and perhaps also receive some acknowledgement that the issue was known (or not) and being addressed. But let's not go there. I will suggest, that if you believe ignoring those who have questions about your product for an extended length of time is an acceptable way to engage in business, then perhaps you have a bright and promising future at the local mall. End of that topic.
Chris, I don't understand what you mean by "appropriate stand alone Windows installers". I clicked the link embedded in the update notification and it took me directly to the installer that I attempted to use and that subsequently returned the scripting error. So how could that not be appropriate? But comparing the version the site says is already on my system to the version numbers given on the patch it appears that I already have the most recent version installed.
If this is the case then perhaps the error was actually in the program that checks for the patches thinking I even needed a patch? Also when I checked the system specs for the download I don't think it listed it as being appropriate for IE 8, which is the most current version available for XP, so perhaps that's causing errors? So I'm confused as to what's going on.
At this point I'm not certain I need to do anything other than wait for Adobe developers to troubleshoot the patcher? The version of Flash I have installed, though it has the memory issues that have been the topic on this thread for months (http://forums.adobe.com/message/5089040#5089040), seems to be performing the same as it usually does. It still takes 15 minutes or longer to load the thumbnails on the Netflix homepage and Hulu, but I can at least use the Hulu player if I'm willing to ignore the flickering and occasional freezing. Silverlight, as always, runs beautifully.
Of more concern are potential security loopholes that might still be unplugged if my version isn't correctly updated. I was actually hacked just viewing a fan site and had a game account stolen about a year and a half ago June, when a newly released Flash version left out a security correction included in the older code.
Thanks to both of you for taking the time to respond to my posts. I realize I was not at my sweetest and most adorable while posting.

  • Are Adobe Flash Player updates cumulative?

It seems to be a difficult task to find the straight answer to the following question: Are Adobe Flash Player updates cumulative?
If I apply the newest existing Flash Player update (APSB15-02) to the bare-bone machine will this cover all previously disclosed vulnerabilities?
Is this the same for SCUP distributed updates? Can someone guide me to any documentation available? If I publish latest patch through SCUP will my systems be protected as if I would download it manually?
    Thank you in advance!

    Hello CrazyGonzo,
Yes, ALL Flash Player install files are cumulative.  Every release contains all previous features, bug fixes, and security fixes.  There is no need to install a specific version and then apply a patch to cover some security release.  Hope this answers your question.

  • Adobe Flash Player Updates too often

Flash Player Updates are too often.
Just last week or so I finished updating the 500+ computers we have here at Kahakai Elementary School to version 15.9.
Now they all have to be updated to flash version 16.0
The students can't get to the test web page without the correct flash, it won't load with v15.9 it now wants v16.0
The students are NOT allowed to install/update software on the computers.
Can you at least NOT UPDATE FLASH for a 3 month window?

There have been three updates in December 2014 I think. I have several computers. Despite the fact that in the Global Settings, Advanced, I have the radio button for "Allow updates (recommended)" checked, I still need to download a file, click on it several times, and remember to unclick the extremely annoying McAlfee download (Grrrr, which bombarded as I am with updates on all my computers I have forgotten to do which installs a very power consuming program, which I then have to uninstall) which takes time.
On windows 8 the proxy settings can get in the way of the download requiring hours of work.
I would prefer not to download flash at most once a year not THREE TIMES A MONTH.
But perhaps I should be grateful to be using this software for free? or switch to HTML 5? There are firefox addins that allow one to choose, apparently.

  • Are all Flash Player updates legit ?

I have seen many popup updates for FP this year however when I examine the link it is clearly not linked to Adobe, and I also read the bottom of this latest update saying they are not affiliated with Adobe and is a 3rd party software needed to run video's from other sites. if this is or is not legit it needs to be know as what exploits have plagued FP in the past some are leery to install these popups as I am. below is a snapshot of the popup and when I went to "contact" to see what came up it shows it is a CRITICAL UPDATE that must be installed. Very Suspicious ! , note the link easyjavaupdate.be  , after clicking on "Contact" the "Warning" pop up appeared.

    Hi,
You were right to question this.  The only legitimate Flash Player updates come from either adobe.com or macromedia.com.  Any other site, or an update notification stating they are not affiliated with Adobe, is absolutely not a legitimate site, or update notification, for obtaining Flash Player.  If you keep on getting notifications such as this, I'm guessing your system is infected with some sort of malware/adware.  I recommend scanning your system for these using something such as MalwareBytes or similar.
Thank you for posting this screenshot.  I'll forward it to the appropriate folks who handle malicious sites purporting to be distributing Flash Player.

  • Adobe Flash Player Update Dialog - Confused

    Hello,
    Configuration: OS X v10.6.8, Safari 5.1.7
On May 29th, I updated to the latest version of Adobe Flash Player:  Shockwave Flash 11.2 r202 — from file “Flash Player.plugin” (version 11.2.202.235).
Over the past few days, I keep getting this dialog while using my browser:
I'm confused about this, since the Apple Support Article: HT5271  says:
Safari 5.1.7 for OS X Lion, Safari 5.1.7 for OS X Snow Leopard, and Leopard Security Update 2012-003 disable out-of-date versions of Adobe Flash Player. Out-of-date versions of Adobe Flash Player do not include the latest security updates and will be disabled to help keep your Mac secure. If Safari 5.1.7 or Leopard Security Update 2012-003 detects an out-of-date version of Flash Player on your system, you will see a dialog informing you that Flash Player has been disabled. The dialog provides the option to go directly to Adobe's website, where you can download and install an updated version of Flash Player.
This Adobe dialog I'm getting does not seem to follow what the Support Article says.  I have installed Security Update 2012-003.
Do I install this per the Adobe dialog I'm seeing OR do I wait for a Mac (Safari) dialog informing me that Flash Player has been disabled providing me with the option to go directly to Adobe's website (as noted in the Apple Support Article: HT5271)?
And do I need to deselect automatic updates in the Flash Player Local Settings Manager (I can't seem to even find the Settings Manager)?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Thanks for the replies Linc and Carolyn!
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
You can select:  Never check for updates even though it's not recommended and click Check Now at your own convenience for updates. That will prevent the Flash Player update pop up window.
Do I need to uninstall the old Flash plug-in before doing this?

  • Mac: InDesign CC crashing after Flash Player update

System: Mac OS X 10.8.4, Adobe CC (InDesign, Photoshop, Muse) running on a MacBook Pro retina from mid-2012.
Yesterday, after the Media Encoder and DPS update, InDesign begun to crash and did not run. I already reported this in another thread.
I restored my system from a clean, perfectly working clone. No problems at all. Of course, I avoided the CC updated for now.
Now, I did update the Flash Player (from 11.7.7 to 11.8). No other changes were made. And InDesign begun to crash AGAIN. This time, if I chose reopen from the crash notice, I can run the application. But it is very clear it is caused by Flash Player.

Back to my initial rotice, I saw the crash is not due to Flash Player. This is what I made:
    1. Restored again the system. Did open ID. It runs ok the first time. Closed ID and tryed to open it again. Crash. I do not did anything else after the restore so it is not caused by Flash Player update.
    2. Tried the solution already known regarding users fonts. Not to avail.
    3. Maybe another app would cause the problem. So I begun to remove apps which run with the system start. For each one, I did an uninstall, restart the system and then tried to open ID. The results:
    3.1. BetterTouchTool: ID kept crashing.
    3.2. Midnight: ID kept crashing.
    3.3. Boom: ID kept crashing.
    3.4. FocusMask: ID kept crashing.
    3.5. KeyRemap4MacBook: ID kept crashing
    3.6. ClipMenu: ID kept crashing.
    4. Thought some customization could also interfere with ID. So tried:
4.1. Remove personal keyboard layuot: ID kept crashing.
4.2. Remove personal keybindings: ID kept crashing.
    5. Considered Spotlight indexing may also be the cause. So I made sure this process is not underway prior to open ID. Crash again.
    6. Maybe the problem is releated with some very specific system privilegies ID needs and are not the default ones set up in the system. In order to fix this I did set up total control to my user over all folders I guess ID may be using, propagating these privilegies to subfolders. No better.
    7. Created another admin user and then I am able to use InDesign CC with it (thanks, Steve!). This is a solution I tried to avoid with the 1–6 procedures because I knew I ahd to invest several hours in order to configure the system to this new user. But at leat it is working. Anyway, another problem appeared: Creative Cloud app says it has an update available but the installation fails every time.
So, I exchanged a critical problem to a relevant one. Better but still far from good.
By now, I really do not believe the ID crash is a sytem problem. See, I made a clean install of OS X 10.8, updated to 10.8.4, tested all and saved a clone. Then, added all the apps I use except CC, configured them all, did tests and saved a second clone. Finally, I did add CC apps (actually, just ID, PS and Muse), tested them and again saved a clone. Everything is ok with restores made from these three clones. I have 84 apps working fine –including other CC apps– and just ID crashing. Nothing indicates the problem is with the system and not InDesign.
Actually, I still think there is something to do with file and folder privilegies used by Adobe installer which does not match the user ones. The fail to update CC app also seems to point to this. But I do not know enough about these deep system administration issues to do further investigation. I suppose Adobe will release an update within a month and point to some "system conflict" with ID.

  • Incomplete installation of downloaded flash player update

A required file (C:Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\flahplayer.xpt:5) could not be written while I was installing downloaded flash player update in Windows 7 due to insufficient permissions. how do I get sufficient permissions?

Administrative permissions are necessary so that the Adobe Flash Player installer can access the Windows system registry and the following folder:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash folder for a 32-bit machine
    C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash folder for a 64-bit machine
In Windows Vista® and Windows 7®, regardless of your permissions, you can run any application as an administrator. To run an application as an administrator, right-click the filename and select Run As Administrator. Provide the administrator ID and password when prompted.
If you need more help, contact your system administrator.

  • Adobe Flash Player update 11 gave me a virus

The newest adobe flash player update gave my computer a virus that required me doing a system restore and completely removing adobe flash player from my system. It was sending spam emails in different languages and spam videos. It was able to slip through my virus scan in the initial download but was found after I scanned it again when I began having problems. I need flash player to do online school work, but cannot have my computer spammed, infected, and crashing anymore. Is there any way this can be fixed so I can use it without problems. Most people I know who have tried updating it have not been able to because their virus scan wont allow them to do it and it comes up as a dangerous file. Please help

Download Flash Player only from the Adobe.com website, not any dubious 3rd-party download site.

  • Adobe Flash Player Update Service 11.6 r602 stopped working and was closed?

After trying many different fixes including uninstalling flash player  and unsuccessfully trying to reinstall it, would consistently stop  loading at about 57 percent.  Either there are remains of registry keys interfering or your site or my computer has been attacked.  No malware showing after checking with antivirus.  Seen same message on other computers.  Had to restore computer to earlier date but lost some contact info in the process in  Skype.  Possible problem from trying to install internet tv software, but restored to previous point there to.  Computer works ok but slowed on internet considerably but message shows continuously daily need a better solution or let your site analyze my flash player. What can I do?

thank you for your info, I did edit the question to show I was using vista (business to be specific).  I will try again with some afterthoughts.  Will enable Java first.  I remember that was a problem in a  previous update, I thought that was always running and go through the steps again.  I don't feel comfortable messing with the registry and if you can add some advice on how to deal with that safely that would be appreciated also.  Thank you so much for your quick response.  Also, isupgrade to explorer 10 recommended for vista or is it suppose to accommodate windows 8.  I don't want to be a beta tester before they work out all the kinks sincerelyadobelougLou Grubin
