Flash Player v17.0.0.134 - Hangs on install at 25%
I am on a MacBook Pro, running Yosemite (OSX 10.10.2) and am trying to update Adobe Flash Player to version 17.0.0.134 yet the install hangs at 25%. I downloaded the install package from Adobe.com through Firefox v36.0.1.
I have uninstalled the previous version, restarted the computer and retried installation to no avail. I have also looked for forum questions already asked about this problem, and most of what I saw was for v10. So I'm looking for updated resources/answers to troubleshoot this issue.
All helpful suggestions are greatly appreciated and welcomed.
Ok. So I found this and it worked:

Please use the offline installer:
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_osx.dmg
Download the install package from this link. Double-click to open it from your downloads folder; when you see the red "install" folder, right-click it and select "Show Package Contents"; click on "Contents" folder; then click on the "Resources" folder; then double-click on the "Adobe Flash Player.pkg" file. The installation will start. It worked for me.... FINALLY!! Ugh.....

I developed a Flash Player swf application with Flash Builder 4.7 (64-bit) before and it has worked well before Flash Player version <= 16. Recently, I updated to Windows 8.1 with Internet Explorer 11 and Flash Player 17.0.0.134.
It is strange that stageX and stageY in MouseEvent.MOUSE_WHEEL gets the position of the whole web page other than that of swf stage, But it works well in Windows 7 with FP 17.
Another problem is BitmapData.setVector() doesn't work normally when the DPI of screen is set to 125%, even in Windows 7 with FP 17, but it works in FP16 before.
By the way, it is interesting that all the above works well in Firefox with FP 17 even in Windows 8.1.
Does anyone encounter this problem? Is there some workarounds on that?Internet Explorer has a unique Flash Player release from Firefox, so it is probably a new bug unique to that IE release. Have you tried this on more than 1 machine? If so, I would say report a bug about it.

Having trouble installing Adobe Flash player 17.0.0.134 on Mac OS 10.10.1. Currently have 16.0.0305 flash player installed. I've tried quitting Safari. Have not uninstalled currently Adobe as yet. How to fix?
Sorry, when I try to install Flash Player 17.0.0.134, it will begin initialing, then stop saying "Installation Failed" and to press "Finish". It then directs me to troubleshooting. I made sure I quit Safari as per their instructions, but have not gone as far as "uninstalling" my current Flash Player 16.0.0.305, because it looks like I will screw something up in the process.
Hope that information helps. -
i have mac 10.6.8 and safari 5.1.10. on checking help website i am told latest flash player 16.0.0.305 is already installed BUT does not appear on my list of applications and am unable to access websites requiring it. have also downloaded flash player installer app but unable to download the flash player itself. can anyone help? thank you!
Hi Anne,
Your version of Safari is still supported. Please see Adobe Flash Player | Tech specs for supported OS and browsers.
If the Flash Player plugin is in the Plug-ins (disabled) folder it's because it's an older version that Apple has disabled in Safari. This has nothing to do with whether or not Flash Player supports the browser.
I'm not sure what you mean by "when i click on flash player itself i am told there is no application to open it." Flash Player.plugin only works in the browser to view Flash content in the browser. The plugin does not open files outside of the browser. If you have SWF files you'd like to view outside of the browser, then you'll need the Flash Player projector. However, based on your previous comments this doesn't appear to be what you are trying to do.
Google Chrome does embed Flash Player in it, while Firefox does not. Mozilla has also recently started blocking older versions of Flash Player in Firefox similar to what Apple is doing in Safari.
Following the 'clean install' instructions should result in you having the latest version of Flash Player installed that will not be blocked by the browser.

After a tryout with AdBlock, the videos on Facebook, on BBC and on some others websites stopped working and there's always a message asking me to install the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player. Even though it's already installed the situation remains the same since the last month.
Can I fix that just doing the upgrade for the Yosemite?Well, after hours of trying to figure it out I gave up and un-installed and re-installed that last verion of Adobe Flash Player and now it seems I can play games again in Messenger. Everything else had been fine just that. I can only figure it was because it was having a hard time updating the first time and took me 3 tries. So even though it said it was installed, apparently it wasn't done correctly.
Though when I couldn't figure out what was wrong at first I looked and checked to see all the things were enabled that were supposed to be and they were.
I even tried to go to the Adobe site and download the last version I had and couldn't find it. Kept coming up with the new version. Others said if you download a particular older version it may not have all the security features in it.
This really gets to be a bit much, especially when you're by yourself and have only a smattering of knowledge of technical things.
Thanks fore responding to my question.

can any one tell me how to install flash player on powerbookg4.i actully uninstall it to upgrade it but now i can not install new one.it always says get flash player for powerpc when i try to install it after downloading.it is 10.5.8 version
Flash Player version 10.1.102.64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users. However, this Flash version won't work for many videos on Facebook, YouTube and other sites. Adobe's latest version, 10.2.x or later, is only for Intel Macs. Adobe will not provide a newer Flash version for PPC Macs.
The message requesting that you download Adobe Flash Player takes you to Flash Player requiring an Intel processor. Doesn't work on a PowerPC processor. I found a hack, installed it & it works with Firefox, TenFourFox & Safari.
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

I've scanned my registry for any reference to Flash and removed anything that remotely resembles Flash Player (of course backing up Registry first). I've run uninstall_flash_player.exe, which doesn't appear to do anything. I've checked logs and there's no reference to Flash Player being installed.

i have a HP laptop, when i try to do certain things that require flash player it tells me i need to install the latest version so when i try it says its already installed. i have tried all the trouble shooting suggestions and it stll isnt working. I even checked the activex filtering and that doesn't seem to be the problem.
First, confirm that ActiveX Filtering is configured to allow Flash content:
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968
Internet Explorer 11 introduces a number of changes both to how the browser identifies itself to remote web servers, and to how it processes JavaScript intended to target behaviors specific to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by modern versions of IE.
You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11
If that is too inconvenient, using Google Chrome may be a preferable alternative. -

I have installed flash player version 17.0.0.134 for mac and now I cant open any e-mail attachments. I have been through the checks and it is installed correctly. Can anyone help? panda
I don't know how this works on a Mac; on Windows you need the Flash Player Projector (not the plugin) to view stand-alone SWF files: https://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

Flash Player 10.2.153 constant hangs on Mac
"A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 10 to run slowly."
I got this CONSTANTLY. Constantly. Not just in Safari but also Firefox, Chrome and every single other browser. Even Firefox and Safari's special Flash Player process isolation didn't help, because the browser would outright hang as a result, usually with high CPU usage. It almost seems like in response to Mozilla and Apple's separation of plug-ins from the main application process to prevent the #1 browser crasher, Adobe figured out that they could still hang the browser even if they couldn't crash it any more.
The other annoying thing is that if you click either button, to abort it or to not abort it, the entire application's focus has been lost. Quit menus are greyed out, tabs cannot be switched, the browser's other windows cannot be switched either, etc and the system just beeps as you. The Dock menu items don't help either. The whole thing's still stuck behind the error dialog, even once that dialog has been dismissed. The only thing you can do is force-quit your entire browser and start over. It's actually better to let the browser hang and wait for the script to eventually either time-out or complete, which will also cause the dialog to dismiss on its own. Or the alternative is to deliberately crash the isolated Flash Player process - open your Activity Monitor (Mac) and force-quit the Flash Player process for Firefox or Safari.
What finally solved it for me was ditching Flash Player 10.2 and going back to Flash Player 10.1.85. Problem solved. Never again.
I know Adobe would rather you didn't, but if you have had this problem, try going back a version or two. The security issues that drive their constant revision of the product are probably unlikely to affect you if you're careful about where you go, and only run Flash content on known sites. Click2Flash might be worth installing as a further security measure, to prevent unexpected Flash content from leaping out at you.Hello,

Flash Player 10.1.53.64 hangs during initialization
(Forking off from [previous issue created by me|Flash Player 10.1; that was since stickied and dedicated to a PowerPoint issue.)
SWFs generated on a machine where Flash Player 9.0.115.0 is installed, and viewed in any web browser on machines with FP 10.1.53.64, hang indefinitely during the initialization sequence.
As noted in the previous thread, SAP has submitted an issue to Adobe (that could be similar or related) here:
https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-4843
Noting that Adobe has addressed the above issue, does this fix extend to web browser plugin versions of the Flash Player as well?Hi Matt,
i am also interested in the conditions in which the bug arises. I developed an complex application using Xcelsius 5.3.1.0 with
Flash 10.1.82.76 installed on the development machine on Windows XP SP 3. At a certain point of the development
it was not possible anymore to preview application in the development environment. After generating the SWF the
development environment crashed while initializing the application. But the generation of the SWF file was successfull and
also can be done without errors using the export function.
To solve the issue with the current adobe flash player i downloaded the adobe flash projector of the older version 10r42_34,
loaded the generated SWF without any problems (on the development machine) and used the function "create projector" to create
a stanalone application that includes the player.
The ".EXE" generated worked fine on the development maschine as well as on a couple of other machines. With the corresponding projector for Mac OS we also generated an application including the player for OS X wich also works fine on
some mac books.
On the other hand, the application hang in the initialization process on other windows machines without showing any rule
by hardware or software configuration (see also the Post from Francis86 in Thread "Hanging during utilization: Flash Player 10.1.53.64").
Two other aspects might be of interest for you:
1) In the context of the development i also experienced problems after a certain amount of components had been added, resulting
in a crash of the development environment. The only way to solve the problem was to delete components or replace them by others. It would be interesting to know where the limitations are.
2) The tab-component seems to produce additional problems. The first design of the application structures the application in different views utilizing a tab component with 5 tabs and a lot of components (as few as possible) on each tab. The problem arose if one uses the reset-button component. The reset did not work for every component within the different tabs. By random some of the initial values had been reseted to its original state, others had be set simply to 0 ignoring its initial state.
I could only solve this problem by replacing the tab component with a menu and using visibility rules. This results in solver responsibility when switching betweent the "tabs" but the reset works fine afterwords. -
Flash Player 17.0.0.134 High Memory and CPU
Hi,
I can't find any information, or solutions to this. Ever since Flash updated to the 17.0.0.134 version, it is using a ton of memory, and high cpu. I have everything updated(windows,browsers,plug-in's,video..etc) I am on Windows 8.1 using Firefox 36.0.4(up-dated yesterday from .0.3), and it continues to sky rocket, and then everything slows down, and will tell me the shockwave plugin has crashed, and I need to close it out. Additionally, I keep getting messages from my Norton about the high disk usage from flash player:( PLEASE..can someone help me, or at least tell that other people are having the same problem.
Thanks so much!Thanks Jeromie,
I have tested this on multiple PCs and have still found the same performance drop. My graphics card on my home PC is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti, using the latest drivers (updated less than a month ago). I would be quite surprised if it has somehow become blacklisted and switched to software mode. Although with the performance I'm getting it feels like this may be what is happening.
