I am home sharing songs from my computer (library) to another authorized computer (library), the songs will import, but once i sync the iphone (4s) to this computer the songs are shaded and will not import onto the iphone, what the heck is going on?

I am transfering songs from one computer to another using home share. Both machines are authorized in home sharing. The songs import from (my) windows computer to the other (my wifes) authorized MacBook Pro, computer just fine. Once the songs are in the library and i try to sync her Iphone (4s) to her computer the songs ar greyed out and i can't play them nor see them under iPhone after sync is complete. What the heck is going on? BTW, the songs that i have imported are either songs i burned from a CD or songs i have purchased from the iTunes store, so they should sync no problem!? Help please.

CS6 has been converted from the upgrade I bought to a trial version. What the heck is going on.

I upgraded from CS5 to CS6 for my IMac. I downloaded CS6 and out in my serial number and it worked fine for a number of weeks. Suddenly when I went to use it it said it was a trial version. I had to register it to use my CS6   I registered it and it worked, but only as a Trial Version of CS6 Extended. I do not want CS6 Extended. I deleted the trial version of CS6 Extended from my hard drive and once again downloaded my upgrade of CS6 and put in my serial number and it worked fine for a couple of weeks. Today, once again, it tells me it is a trial version and will not load unless I register the trial version. What the heck is going on? This is crazy. I simply want to use CS6, for which I paid. Help!

Its a bug that came with the latest update. The developers know about it and will fix it as soon as they get back from christmas vacation. Lots of us (inluding some of the developers) are suffering the same problem.

None of any of the pictures on Facebook can be opened and seen on the website, I have absolutely no problem on Safari, but I would much rather use Firefox..What the heck is going on????

About a week ago, I had no problem clicking on pictures to open them to bigger size.....As of about 4 days ago - If I try to open a picture on Facebook, it shows the comments but no picture..I don't know what is going on!!! I agree the phones are supposed to come with the battery and battery door missing that is policy of every wireless company. The problem is that the rep that you spoke with wasn't being as thorough as they could have been to ensure that you got complete equipment, is was a processing error from the first representative. Most of the information for exchanging a phone is auto completed by the computers as well so when the rep processes the exchange they don't have any say so as to what is actually in the shipping box so being that you didn't activate the droid 3 on your account when you called in about the missing battery and complained the computer only recognized the droid x because that probably what you had activated on your account, so that's why the second replacement was droid x equipment and not droid 3

What the heck is going on with TV Shows?

Wow the descriptions of the shows are non-existant before you buy them, are listed as "albums" (bug?) and what the heck is going on with shows taking forever to make it to iTunes after they air??? It's killing the experience for me... three days to a week? Who's messing up, ALL the networks or Apple?

All I can tell you is Apple is dependent on the networks to provide the files. If the network isn't prompt in providing said files, there is not a lot Apple can do.

Okay my friends, maybe some of you could give me a clue what the heck is going on.
For the first time EVER, I keep getting this dialog box cropping up. It says something like Motorola Phone on top of the dialog box, and Incoming File Transfer for what seems to be a JPG image...Like HUH????????
I've had my own computer for over a year now and never got such a thing before. I click the decline button each time it crops up. How do I get rid of this annoying thing..I don't dare accept and open it since I don't even know what the heck it is.
Anyone ever get this?? Anyone have a clue what this is? It's friggin annoying...want to get rid of the darn thing but wouldn't know how..like I said I've never gotten this before.
Now I know Macs aren't supposed to get viruses and some of my PC user friends have suggested that maybe I try to get a virus/spyware scan and directed me to a few freebie places...I just don't like the idea of downloading anything and particularly from a freebie place

In the right conditions, Bluetooth can work up to 30 feet, and through walls. It can't do anything unless you let it. Look in the "Bluetooth" system preference. See if anything shows in the left column. If so, you can select it and see information about in in the right column. Click on the gear at the lower left to see if there is an option to ignore that particular device, or if you aren't using Bluetooth, you can turn it off with the upper-left checkbox.

My PowerMac G4 smells like burning plastic -- what the heck is going on!?

I have experienced the burning smell before, but almost a year ago. Yes, my machine is eight years old, but I still love her and have been doing whatever I can to keep her alive. The only major surgery I've done, is switched from the Samsung power supply it came with, to a lower powered Apple one. It had been running fine (and quieter since the power supply switch) until today. I powered the computer ON, left it for maybe 20 minutes, and when I came back, the first floor of my house wreaked of burning plastic/electronics. I shut the computer down and left it off for about four hours. Powered it up again recently, worked fine, BUT still emitted that burning stench (though can't tell if it was just blowing around the smell from before or heating up again...).
Does anyone know what the heck is going on with my beloved PowerMac G4 (mirrored drives)? I already purchased a used PowerMac G5 as a backup -- just in case I have to pull the HD from my G4 and move on -- BUT any help to fix my G$ would be most appreciated. Thanks. Nv

The first thing to do is to trace the smell if you can. The most likely source of heat is the power supply. If a capacitor leaked somewhere the computer might not work but my money is on melting wire insulation. The wire would still let power get to components but smell of hot insulation, thus it works but smells.
If you are careful, you can remove the power supply from the computer and open it up to take a look inside. If you have a spare CD-ROM drive, you can plug it into the power supply just by itself. Take a paper clip and short out between the green wire and a black wire on the motherboard molex connector (the rectangular one with the most wires going to it.
What you will have on your work bench is the cord from the wall outlet to the power supply, the power supply itself with the cover off, the paper clip jumper and the CD drive. If the paperclip is in place, the fan on the power supply will turn on. The tray for the CD drive should open and close. That will tell you if the power supply is working. If it also starts smelling, then you have isolated the problem.
If the smell comes from any place else, look for signs of melted plastic. One would hope that a fuse would blow before wires short out because the heat is a sign of high current draw.
Try that much and post back.

I'm sure that Apple is working on the publishing issue as it is huge - and everyone is complaining about it. Regarding the time - sounds like the time zone on the phone was not correct or a daylight savings option was not checked etc. I don't have an iPhone to be able to tell you where to look - but since iCal isn't syncing to .mac or to peoples phones, the time issue is most likely not iCal.

What the heck is going on with my Virtual Memory??!!

I'm not really sure why but when I check activity monitor and see my VM it says i'm using anywhere from 230-270 gigs of virtual memory. This is literally fresh out of restart when it says this much and never changes. I go through and check every process I see runing and create a quick estimate of the virtual memory being used, and it's definitely not over 10 gigs if even 5; honestly I think it's listing between 1-2.
What the heck could be causing this? Verified HD and came up clean. Should I be concerned? I'm not gonna lie this macbook isn't running the best it used to be. Watching videos, whether mp4, mkv, youtube, is pretty laggy. I'm aways sure to close all other processes to to try and maximize video performance, not that it helps much. I'm considering a fresh install and recovery via timemachine.

I excluded the list of fonts from step 4 as I'm a graphic design major and have well over a thousand...and I didn't want you to burn up your scroll wheel or rub the tips of your fingers off with the amount of scrolling you'd have to do had I included them .

Red X on bottom left corner of palette VIs - What the heck is going on?

I have a subpalette of my own VIs in user.lib that have red 'X's on the bottom left corner of them. I have been ignoring it for a long time, but it bugs me that LabVIEW is trying to tell me something is wrong and I don't know what it is.
All the ones with the 'X' are members of a class. They work fine with no problems. The palette items are all pointed to the right place. The class doesnt' seem to have any problems; I use it all the time.
I have never seen this before, nor have I yet found a place where this indication is mentioned either in LV Help or the online KB. It does nto occur anywhere else in any of my other usr.lib libraries, classes, or subpalettes. I have edited that library, class, and rewritten the mnu file over trying to clear it out, but no luck.

This sounds like an issue described in CAR 185059 where VIs belonging to a class inside an lvlib have a red X on their palette icons. It has been fixed in LabVIEW 2012.

Have been using iPhoto for weeks and had it open just an hour ago and when I tried to open again I got a message that I had to upgrade in or to see my library??? after trying to upgrade still getting message. What the heck is going on

Cannot open iphoto library, getting a message staing I have to upgrade to see my library which I have done four times with no results. I just had iphoto opened an hour before without a problem and have been using it for weeks before today. Any ideas as to what is going on?

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
iPhoto 8 (09) and earlier- run the options indicated
iPhoto 9 (11) and later- run Option #4 to rebuild the database
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager (iPhoto 8 or earlier or IPhoto 11 and later) and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the
File ➙ Rebuild Library (iPhoto 8 or earlier)
or
Library ➙ Rebuild Library (iPhoto 9 or later)
menu option to rebuild the library.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

What the heck is going on BT

Firstly huge apologies if i have posted this thread in the wrong place.
I placed an order on thursday 9th April via telephone and was told that once i had provided my MAC code the process would start. I provided the MAC the following day (via telephone again) and the fellow i spoke to couldn't put it in manually, he said that he would get someome from management to do it and had made a note of it and everything was in place . Now this is where it starts to get confusing . Within an hour i received an email from my current provider saying "thanks for deciding to stay with us" I contacted BT immedietly (overseas call centre) to ask what was going on and i was advised to contact my current provider which i did and they said the wording was confusing and all it meant was that i wouldn't have any down time as i was migrating. Next day i received a call from another BT gent who said that the people in the house that i was moving to were not willing to give up the phone number i wanted and could i possibly speak to them about it. Please Note : I AM NOT MOVING and have no intention of moving house and the phone number in question is the number i have already, anyway he said he would get a customer options assistant to speak to me and he transferred my call to a lady named Yvonne, who couldn't understand why my order was cancelled and promised to call me back first thing on saturday morning with an answer....................... i am still waiting !!! Whilst speaking to "Yvonne" an email was sent from BT stating i must call them by midday on the 10th April, considering the email arrived at 13.18 this was nigh on impossible.
I logged into "My BT" this morning to see if perhaps it has been a mix up and apparently everything has been cancelled although i have no idea why or by whom. Please can someone look into this for me as my service is supposed to start on the 1st May and i have no idea what is going on. If anyone could provide me with a phone number that will let me speak to someone who is in the UK i would be grateful. Whilst people in these overseas call centres speak English, there is most defintely a loss of translation somewhere along the line and they just don't seem to grasp what you are saying to them.

I just popped back to this to thank PaddyB for moving things on for me and eventually getting someone to call me back. That is not to say i am very happy though because after "customer options" going through everything with me, i am paying slightly more money but with less features than my original order was for , go figure !!!!
Yet again the customer options fellow bent the truth, "you have to accept the package for the order to progress and i will phone you back on wednesday to sort something out wih your call plan, what time suits you best ?" First thing in the morning replies silly ole me. Well, either we are on different time zones or are on totally different planets.
Yep, you guessed it, no call. To say i am miffed is a slight under exaggeration and while i know this isn't your fault PaddyB but seriously, customer options need a good kick up the 'rse and should have their knuckles rapped for balantly lieing.
I am reluctant to mark this as resolved (if i can do that) because it doesn't seem resolved to me.
I really feel for you guys on here who take it in the neck for most of the BT teams shambolic doings and i know you do your best to help so i thank you for that.
I still have a cooling off period so i may well cancel MYSELF this time and stick with my current provider. Better the devil you know and all that. If i wanted to pay for the privelege of being treated like a **bleep** i would have gone to Talk Talk who could have treated me this way for half the cost, lol.

What the heck is going on with my CODE?

Ok.. so the program encrypts and decrypts text files.. you input the paths for which file to read and where to export it to..
the encrypt code and decrypt code is EXACTLY the same only like ONE line of code is different.. the difference was one had "encrypt()" the other had "decrypt()"
I changed it back to the original "encrypt()" and it worked fine.. which doesnt make any sense because the encrypt() and decrypt() methods are exactly the same only one encrypts the stuff while the other decrypts..

So why does it not work when I change the encrypt() part to decrypt() ???

ok.. so..
when the Encrypt File button is pressed it runs this part if it passes the IF statements:

                                             writeFile.write(dataTool.encrypt(theText, "1", command), 0, theText.length());
                                             outputFileStatis.setText("Success");
                                             writeFile.close();
                                        else
                                             String theText = readFile(inputPath);
                                             writeFile.write(dataTool.encrypt(theText, tempString.substring(0), command), 0, theText.length());
                                             outputFileStatis.setText("Success");
                                             writeFile.close();
                                   } catch(IOException e) {
                                        System.out.println(e);
which encrypts the text in the file specified to look something like:
tittemfek2ueehseo2yt2sistdi2s2i2ww2sta2satsfsaoo22r0222e2orrrjr
then when the decrypt file button is pressed it is supposed to run the same thing only
encrypt is changed to decrypt
and it runs the readFile(File) method listed in the first post to read the files.
it runs the encryption perfectly, but when it decrypts it the command prompt fills with errors and scrolls several times..
there is no problem with the decrypt method, it has to be the readFile(File) method but I dont know how to fix it..
