Flash player won't install on windows 8 using firefox

Hi
I had problems with my flash player on windows 8, it kept crashing before any of the videos were loaded and freezing my computer temporarily in the process.
I was advised to uninstall and reinstall flash player, so i uninstalled it and now cannot reinstall it (i can download the installation thing from the website but it won't open).
What should I do to correct this? And please bare with me, I am useless with computers.
Thanks
George

Finally got flash to install.
1 Internet properties > Manage add-ons
2 Find more toolbars & extentions (down the bottom left)
3 Opens http://www.iegallery.com/PinnedSites > did a search for flash and installed from there
It would appear that I couldn't install anything, not just flash.  Tried to install chrome and exactly the same thing happened.
Instillation above resulted in Norton Autofix opening. "Norton 360 Premier Edition has encountered an error Error:3048,3

This is what I get when trying to use "FLASH PLAYER HELP", as you can see, my flash player and OS are NOT listed and when asked on left side of screen if "THIS WAS HELPFUL", I clicked NO and could not complete my response.
HOW DO I FIX THIS??? THERE ARE SEVERAL ITEMS THAT REQUIRE FLASH PLAYER & I CANNOT GET IT TO WORK. AFTER DOWNLOADING (AT LEAST4 TIMES) IT SAYS EVERYTIME "INSTALLATION SUCCESSFUL"

Download the offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player- windows.html#main-pars_header and save it to disk, then close all browser windows and run the downloaded installer.
If you still have problems, please post the contents of the FlashInstall.log file in

  • Flash player won't install on safari 7.0.3 any hints?

flash player won't install on safari 7.0.3 .  I can download but the install stops at 50%.  I have allowed plug ins.
    any hints?

jabenn, I believe this to be caused by an issue with the Flash Player Install Manager, which Adobe is aware of.
As a first step, you could try removing it from the folder Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash Player. If you see a folder in that location entitled "Flash Player Install Manager", you need to trash it (you will need to enter and Admin password to authorise that step). This is recommended by Adobe. Now try again.
If that still fails, you can either follow the full Uninstall / Re-install process set out here: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1267823  ... or use my three-step workaround to save time, hassle and restarting. This starts at the scenario described in your initial post (i.e. a stalled installation):
Force quit Adobe Flash Player Install Manager
Locate and mount the Flash Player Installer disk image with Disk Utility
Locate the Adobe Flash Player installer package within the Install Manager app and run the installation from Finder
    Hope this helps. Enjoy.
    --- Those steps in detail:
    1. Force quit Adobe Flash Player Install Manager
Press these three keys together: Cmd + Option (or Alt) + esc
Select Adobe Flash Player Install Manager in the popup window titled "Force Quit Applications"
Hit return or click the button labelled "Force Quit"
    2. Locate and mount the Flash Player Installer disk image with Disk Utility
Open Disk Utility (in Applications/Utilities folder or find it with Spotlight)
On the left hand side, your attached drives and mounted volumes are listed above a horizontal line. Below that line you should see one or more disk images (named e.g. something.dmg). These are recently accessed disk images - including one containing the adobe updater.
At or near the bottom of that list you should see something called decryptedFile.dmg
Under that you might see a (greyed out) volume image called Flash Player
Double click decryptedFile.dmg (or the Flash Player volume if you can see it - it makes no difference).
This should mount a volume titled "Flash Player" and automatically open a finder window showing the contents.
The volume "Flash Player" will show up in your Finder sidebar and on your desktop (unless you've chosen not to show External Disks in Finder preferences)
    3. Locate the Adobe Flash Player installer package and run the installation from Finder
You should by now have a Finder window open showing the contents of the volume "Flash Player". If not, open a new Finder window and click on Flash Player in the sidebar. The sole contents are an app called Install Adobe Flash Player.
Right click the item "Install Adobe Flash Player" and select "Show Package Contents" from the contextual menu that appears.
This opens a new window showing a folder called "Contents". Open it by double clicking to reveal the contents including a folder called "Resources".
Locate and open the folder "Resources" and look for a file called Adobe Flash Player ("Adobe Flash Player.pkg")
This is the Installer Package for the update. Double Click it.
Don't be put off by the words "Welcome to the Adobe Flash Player Installer" - this is not the Adobe Flash Install Manager (the one that failed you earlier) this is Apple's "Installer" app.
Follow the steps to the end then eject the volume Flash Player in the normal way (e.g. Finder sidebar)
Open the Flash Player control panel to check the current version has now been updated.
Don't be put off by "PPAPI Plug-in is not installed" - you can ignore it.
Some steps may go differently if you are running a different version of Mac OS X ( I use 10.6.8 and wrote my guide accordingly).

If you are on a 64-bit system, use the 64-bit installer(s); you will then also be able to use Flash under the 64-bit version of Firefox: Waterfox.

  • Flash player won't install after Antivirus8

I had the Antivirus8 problem this week.  Malwarebytes seems to have uninstalled it.  I have also run Eset Online Scanner and Microsoft malicious remover tool.  They all now say I'm clean.  But my flash player no longer works.  I have turned off my AVG 9.0 (why didn't it catch the virus!!), and have downloaded the flash uninstaller and the installer.  Ran them both, rebooting inbetween.  flash player seems to install, but when I go to the adobe test site i get the red x instead of the video showing that the flash player is working.  Online sites that require flash player do not work either.
This all is new since the antivirus 8.  I never had a problem with flash before.  I am running Windows 7 Home, 64 bit, and internet explorer  I also have mozilla firefox.  I have tried using the  both IE 32 bit and IE 64 bit, as well as firefox, and all say that flash needs to be installed.
    Help please!

Thank you so much for your support,GLPCPA.

Which version of Flash Player do you have installed, and are you running Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP Pro, Windows XP Home, Linux, Ubuntu, Fedora, or do you have an Apple Mac? If you have an Apple computer, which version of OSX do you have installed? Without this specific information, we cannot assist you very much.

  • Flash player won't install for adminstrator, but will for child accounts

I use the Family Safety on our computer.  We have accounts for our child, self (as administrator), and guests.  Flash player shows as installed and works on the child and guest accounts.  But, it does not appear as installed on my administrator account.  We use McAfee for protection, but that doesn't seem to be the problem.  I have tried installing and uninstalling several times. I have tried installing using internet explorer and firefox.  We have windows 7.  I don't know what to do.  It used to be installed.

Administrator account: there is no flash player listed in the Manage Add-ons list.  Adobe Shockwave Flash Object is enabled.  When I choose to look at all add ons, ActiveX shows up and is also enabled.
Standard Account: there is no flash player listed in the manage add-ons list.  Adobe shockwave flash object and activeX are both enabled.
I looked in the "all add ons list" for both accounts, and there is not flash player plug in.  But flash player works in the standard account.  Am I missing a plugin?
Just to try it I enabled a google toolbar.  Flash player still doesn't work.
    Thank you.

  • Flash Player won't install on my Mac

I'm using Mac OS 10.7.5 Snow Leopard and while installing Flash Player it stops and tells me to quit Dashboard Clinet.  I've gone to force quit and have stopped everything on there other than the install program and I keep getting the same thing.  Is there a way to stop the Dashboard?  When I open it there does not appear to be a button to do so.

I feel your pain and have a solution that should work. I have been battling this for several weeks now, finally gave up, and wrapped up a call with an Apple engineer an hour or so ago. Come to find out, regardless of what the O/S tells you in Activity Monitor about Safari, Dashboard, or both "not" running, these processes are in fact being called. It seems that, at least in my case, on an up-to-date OS X / Safari combo, and with The Weather Channel widget installed, you will never get the newest Adobe Flash Player update to install. As soon as you remove The Weather Channel widget, the Adobe Flash update process will again work normally. It makes absolutly no sense, but I and the Apple engineer were able to reproduce the fix on my two systems and completely reproduce the issue and the fix on his. Not certain where the "blame" for the issue rests, but I suspect this is a issue with The Weather Channel widget - or at least how it is interacting with the O/S and Safari. I suggest checking for any installed/active widgets that grab/stream any soft of content via the web, removing them, and re-running the Flash updater. I hope this helps. Please reply to let me know if this did the trick for you too.

  • Flash player won't install all the way onto my Mac?

Adobe Flash Player will not install properly on my Mac? It loads to 50% and then stops and says "General Installation Error". Can you help me?

Your troubles aren't coming from Flash Player.
You're missing a file that was made visible by the 10.8.5 update. Hundreds of thousands of Mac users all over the world deleted it, not knowing what it was. It causes this when it's missing.
Download this file: "Secrets" pereference pane by right clicking and choosing "Download Linked File As". It'll allow you to see "hidden" files.
    And this one: mach_kernel.zip
It's the one that's causing your problems... rather it not being on your system is causing them.
Install Secrets, and open your System Preferences.
Open the Secrets Preference Pane, and check "Show hidden files"
You'll need to press the "Quit this" button,
and restart Finder, by right clicking the Dock icon.
Then, place the mach_kernel.zip file in the Mac HD directory,
and unzip it. You should see a "faded" mach_kernel file appear.
    Trash the zip file.
Reopen your System Preferences and uncheck "Show Hidden files".
Instead of quitting Finder and relaunching it, reboot your Mac.
Your Flash Player installer won't quit anymore.

  • Flash Player won't install on Mavericks

I have downloaded the installer several times. I have gone through the directions to uninstall everything as Adobe recommends and nothing works. The link to download the standalone application is bad. What is going on? I need to use Flash Player because of my job-we use Adobe Connect to do Webinars for our clients and now it won't work. I tried updating it and I haven't been able to. I can download the installer, start to run it, and it always stalls at 25 or 30 percent. Please help someone. None of the stuff I've been able to find on my own works, and I'm fairly savvy.
    MacBook Pro 2.7 GHz
    OS 10.9.5
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you!

We update monthly, sometimes more.  The easiest option is to select Always Allow Update from Adobe in Control Panel > Flash Player.
The current download link for the alternate installer is here:
