Flash Player won't upgrade/install in Firefox

Operating System: WinXP SP3
Browser: Firefox (primary), IE (secondary)
Flash player stuck at 11.4.xx
Downloaded  "install_flashplayer11x32_mssd_aih.exe"
Closed all browsers
Ran upgrade and received the following error:
     Internet Explorer Script Error
     Line: 1
     Char: 10477
     Error: 'ActionLaunchAdobe' is undefined
     Code: 0
     URL: http://127.0.0.1:1486/app/_js/adobe.js
Neither continuting the script nor not continuing installed the player.
This happened multiple times.
Then I uninstalled Flash player using the adobe uninstaller.
Downloaded "Flashplayer11-5_install_win_ax.exe
No problem in installation
Internet Explorer Flash works fine
Firefox doesn't recognize that a flash player is installed.
Downloaded (again) "install_flashplayer11x32_mssd_aih.exe"
Ran the installation and received the following error:
Internet Explorer Script Error
     Line: 1
     Char: 13054
     Error: Object Expected
     Code: 0
     URL: http://127.0.0.1:2307/app/_js/adobe.js
and Firefox still doesn't have a Flash player.
I can't find adobe.js anywhere on my system. I've upgraded Java. I don't find adobe.js anywhere on my system.
Where do I go from here?

More research in Mozilla.org support:
http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/keep-flash-up-to-date-and-troubleshoot-problems?redire ctlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Managing+the+Flash+plugin#w_updating-flash
I followed their recommendation and downloaded the full Flash player plugin:
http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_ 11_plugin.exe
All is now well.

  • Flash player does not properly install on Firefox and Opera.

Requirement for flash player just randomly started popping up on Firefox and Opera. I used the adobe uninstaller to uninstall flash player, reset computer then install again, but the installer finishes then when the web browser pops up to confirm in says:
Adobe Flash Player could not be installed.
You can troubleshoot your installation with the following resources:

Shockwave flash isn't installed in plugins but videos do load. On this "Flash Player Help" the animation does not load but videos on youtube does load and work.
Does anyone know a solution for this?
    Thanks

    Hi Joface333,
    Please do the following:
Close all browsers and apps that may use Flash Player (e.g. instant messaging clients, Pandora and the like).
Run the uninstaller posted at the bottom of the Download Adobe Flash Player 15 Beta for Desktops - Adobe Labs page
    Reboot the machine
After logging back in, check the C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash and C:\Windows\SysWow64\Macroemd\Flash directory.FlashInstall.log file should exist in both directories.  mms.cfg file should only exist in the 'syswow64' directory.  Depending on what other Adobe software, if any, you have installed there may be other CFG files and a FlashPlayerTrust directory.  If there are other Flash Player files listed, take a screen-shot and post them using the instructions previously provided.
Run the installers posted to the bottom of this page, Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows
If there are any errors, take a screen-shot of the error dialog and upload the screen-shot and the FlashInstall.log file from both 'system32' and 'syswow64' directories using the instructions previously provided.

  • The flash player plugin is correct installed, but firefox keeps asking to install it and then says not possible

    I have installed flash player.
The test site of Adobe says it is correct. When I switch it off and do the test the test says "flash player is switched off, press to switch it on" when I dos so the test says that is corectly installed.
When I open the plug-in screen there is no adobe flash player, but only shockwabe flash player, but switching this one on and off had the above mentioned effect.
I have checked the registry (since I could not find anything about flash player in the program list, software in configuration, nor in program files and found that in the windows/system32/macromed/flash directory are the files flashutil9b.exe and flashutil_10uPlugin.exe and some other files, which gives me the idea that flash player is in effect installed.
Nevertheless a flash file in my website keeps asking for the plugin and tells than that it cannot be found.

An example of my website is http://www.vangelder.nl/example
My real website is protected, but the example shows the problem.
I hope you can give the solution.
The big problem is, that since I have these problems (on several computers, working on XP and Vista) I suppose that the visitors on my site wil have the same problem.
I heve been working hours to find out what the problem is, installed different players, used different formats, searched the internet for a solution and I don't want to export this problem to the visitors of my website.

  • Flash player won't update/install/work/etc.

About a week ago my flash player apparently stopped working.
Sites like youtube, google video, none of these will work because
it says I need to update my Flash player. Everytime I try to
update, the installer runs, IE restarts, and the problem persists.
I have done this over 20 times, and it will not work.
I have used the uninstaller to take flash player off and
reinstall the newest version, but this does not work either. I have
done it at least 6 times with no results. I am running Windows
Vista, and when i run it in Safe Mode it works fine, but not on
normal booting... only safe mode. Are there any known programs or
malicious software that could be interfering with it functioning
properly? Or maybe another suggestion on getting it to work
    correctly?

omg I have the same problem too, i swear ive tried almost
everything I can even think of, what happens for me is ill go to
install it and it will show that the adobe flash is trying to load
something but eventually it wont load and just repeats itself into
a loop trying to install it. ive tried reinstalling uninstalling,
playing with the registry, going into the activex folders and
messing around there and i cannot find why it wont let me install
it., I have windows XP home and using IE, but it works good on
    Firefox.

  • Flash Player won't complete install

    Hi-
Hopefully someone can help. I'm using a PC, using Safari 33.0.3 (update available, I know), running Windows 7.
Right now, version 15.0.0.152 Flash Player is installed. I'm able to download the install file, open it, and the security window comes up
and I hit 'run'. Then the user account window opens and asks if I want to make changes and I hit yes.
Then the Install Flash Player window comes up with just a gray background and nothing happens. Tried multiple times, closed Firefox,
followed all the troubleshoots I could find. I even uninstalled Flash Player to see if I could load from scratch and the same install window
    comes up and nothing happens.
    Any help?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

In Firefox, if you choose Help > Restart with Add-Ons Disabled, does the problem go away?
Also, have you tried rebooting your computer?

  • I just upgraded from 10.5 to Snow Leopard and now my Flash Player won't upgrade.  What do I do?

I get the message that the plug-in was blocked.  Do I need to upgrade something else?

Check System Preferences->Flash Player and check the settings and the installed version. 12.0.0.38 is the latest.

  • My Adobe Flash Player won't stay installed.

Flash player just WON'T stay install.  This has been happening for a while, but today alone I've had to re-install it 10 times.  After about an hour or less everything just says "Plug-in Failure".  I'm not sure what's happening...how do I fix this?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only Guest login created by Find My Mac.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The Guest login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Flash Player will not upgrade/install and work properly

I have been being promted to download the Flash Player on numerous websites before the application or game will actually play.
Each and every time I go through their link to upgrade to the correct version of Flash, it upgrades and installs properly, but when I re-launch the program I was trying to use I ge the SAME MESSAGE to download Flash Player again, and of course it still does not work.
Is this because I am using their free version of Flash Player and actually need to purchase another version to get these very small applications to run.

  • Upgraded to firefox 6 and flash player won't work

I've finally upgraded to Firefox 6, after much much hesitation, and now certain sites built in Flash won't work. They work just great in Safari. The upgrade to the latest Flash player worked for Safari, but not Firefox. I've updated the Shockwave player.
No matter how many times I download and install the newest player and restart my browser, it still tells me I have to download and install the newest flash player and restart my browser.
Even Firefox 5 doesn't want to work with Flash...

Download Adobe Flash Player installer 10.3.183.7 (2.94 MB)
    * http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
    * '''When Downloading Plugins Update setup files, Remove Checkmark from Downloading other Optional Softwares with your Plugins (e.g. Toolbars, McAfee, Google Chrome, etc.)'''
    * Close Firefox (click '''Firefox''' button and click '''Exit''')
    * Open the '''install_flash_player.exe''' file, then follow the installer's instructions.
-> Start Firefox in Safe Mode by Holding down the '''Option''' key while starting your Mozilla Firefox application. (If the Profile Manager opens, select a profile and then hold down the '''Option''' key again while clicking the button to start Firefox.)
    * As an alternate method, go to Utilities (in the Applications folder) and open Terminal, then run:
    ** /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -safe-mode
-> Firefox Safe Mode window will appear -> DON'T SELECT ANY OPTIONS, just click '''Continue in Safe Mode'''
-> go to a website that uses Flash player:
    * http://www.youtube.com/
    * http://movies.yahoo.com/
Check and tell if its working while you are Browsing in Firefox Safe Mode.

  • Adobe Flash Player won't install into Firefox, even when using the offline installer, and downloading it through Firefox

Ever since the latest update of the Adobe Flash Player, I think it came out this week.
I can't seem to get it to work with Firefox, I have downloaded the installer, it installs successfully, then I check in Firefox to see if it works. It says that I need to install it?!?! I have tried the offline installer of the Adobe Flash Player, I also tried installing it through Firefox (when you click "Install missing plugins"). That just fails instantly.
I posted on the Adobe Forums, but no luck.
I am getting frustrated with this! I have never had problems with installing the Flash Player, and I didn't install this version any different from the previous versions. Flash Player was working well until the latest update of Flash Player was released.
If I go to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash, it shows all the Flash Player files, but it's not showing up in the Firefox addon manager, and not working on YouTube, or any other Flash Player sections of sites.
    I installed the 64-bit version, because I have a 64-bit Windows.
It works on IE, but not on Firefox.
It seems like it installs fine, but then it doesn't looks like it "installs" it into Firefox. Or whatever...
Also, I have tried uninstalling it with the Adobe 64-bit Uninstaller, restarting my PC after uninstalling, then install the 64-bit Flash Player for Firefox... doesn't work.
I have done EVERYTHING I can do to try and get it to work, no luck...
Please, any help with be appreciated!

Which version of Flash Player do you have installed, and are you running Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP Pro, Windows XP Home, Linux, Ubuntu, Fedora, or do you have an Apple Mac? If you have an Apple computer, which version of OSX do you have installed? Without this specific information, we cannot assist you very much.

  • Adobe Flash Player won't stop asking to install.

I'm using windows 7 and Mozilla firefox, but this problem happens even when I don't have a browser window opened.
Adobe flash player won't quit asking to install. probably once a minute i receive a (UAC)request to allow adobe flash player to install. Even with no browser windows open. EVEN WHILE I AM WATCHING FLASH VIDEOS, it is telling me to install it. It literally interupts everything I am doing, even when I'm not browsing the internet.
I currently have it completely uninstalled as far as i know. I used the adobe uninstaller available on this site. So there's no flash player or shockwave player installed on my computer... still receiving this request every minute or so.
    It's ridiculous.
I tried running a virus scan, because thats the only thing I could possibly think of that would be this irritating, and it says that my computer is clean.
Is there some secret files somewhere I need to delete? I'm thinking of deleting the activex install files. I keep getting "The ActiveX Installer (AxInstSV) service entered the running state." in my event viewer, which seem to coincide with this issue.

I finally got it fixed but I'm not sure what fixed it.
    here's everything i did:
    Uninstalled all browsers.
    Uninstalled all adobe stuff.
    Uninstalled Java
Deleted anything left behind (i left browser stuff though because i wanted it to save my passwords and such).
disabled activexsvinst or something service. The activex installer service.
Used CC cleaner to clean up registry
Made sure to delete almost everything in user/local/temp folders and such (where adobe and java store stuff usually. I dunno might want to be careful doing this cause i dont know if there's important files there. Also some folders won't let you delete it but that just means you have to go inside the folder and select all then delete. The only file that should be in one of thosetemp folders is like fxsapidebug or something, in my opinion.)
    rebooted
    ran CC cleaner again.
    rebooted
not sure if this helped but i also used HIJACKTHIS and uninstalled some browser helpers that didnt get deleted. In particular there was an adobe one i think. Cant really remember tho. Now that i look at hijackthis again, it couldn't have been this because the browsers helper stuff is still there.
I also ran about 500000000 virus scans with multiple scanning programs and none of them detected anything.
I've reinstalled Mozilla and flash and haven't had any problems since.
Hope this helps anybody else with the same problem.

  • My Flash Player won't install???

HELP!!! my flash player won't install! i downloaded it on my mac and opened the file and it was downloading until it says "please choose the following programs to continue" and then i cannot click safari, wich is my default browser, because there is a red sign indicating i cannot click it!
every time i click retry the same thing happens! why is this! HELP

The above link is for the ActiveX installer (Internet Explorer).
Use the appropriate download links in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/909550
If you are on a 64-bit system, use the 64-bit installer(s); you will then also be able to use Flash under the 64-bit version of Firefox: Waterfox.

  • Installing Adobe Flash Player 10.0.42 Plugin for Firefox 3.5.7

I currently have Firefox 3.5.7 installed and am trying to access a site that requires the current version of Adobe Flash Player (10.0.42). When I download and install it, the website still doesn't recognize flash player being installed.
I go to Adobe.com, make sure I am downloading the one for WinXP/Firefox and install it, then it says that it is successfully installed. However, when I try to access the site, and it says that the current version of flash player is not installed, with a link to the adobe site to download the latest version (which I already did).
I have tried uninstalling the flash player, from both Windows and Adobe's uninstaller, and reinstalling with no success. I have even tried uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox, still nothing. For fun, I tried updating IE, and it works fine, but I REALLY don't like IE.
Another note: when I uninstall Flash Player, it doesn't remove it from my machine (add/remove program list), even when Windows asks, "Adobe ... is already uninstalled, would you like to remove it from the list?" Additionally, when I go to Adobe's Flash Player version tester site, it reports that IE is running version 10.0.42, but when I access it with FF, it shows a link to download the latest Adobe FP.
