Flash player work with Safari, but not with Internet Explorer

My flash player had a problem so I uninstalled it.  I had a problem downloading the player with Internet Explorer, so I successfully download it with Safari.  The player works fine with Safari, but I cannot get it to work with Internet Explorer 8.
I used to have the Flash Player 10 Active X (10.1.85.3), which I had uninstalled.
I now have the Flash Player 10 Plugin (10.1.85/3)
The problem I had downloading the player with IE was that the "allow Active X" information bar never appeared and I was unable to see any download at all.
How do I get flash to work with my Internet Explorer 8 (8.0.7600.16385)?

This adobe web site worked easily for me, when I needed to install adobe flash JUST for IE8.
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
All you need to do is choose your OS in the top window, then in the bottom window choose "Adobe Flash Player 10.1 for Windows Internet Explorer", and voila, that is what adobe installs!! Give it a go. I had problems too, before I foud this. Diligent

  • Flash Player works in Safari but not Internet Explorer 9

I've installed Flash Player 10.3 and it works in Safari but not Internet Explorer 9. When I look in Manage Add-Ins I see Flash Shockwave but not Flash Player. My operating system is Windows Vista Ultimate (32bit). Safari is 5.0.5 and IE 9 is 9.0.8112.16421. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing Flash Player and uninstalling Norton 360. Nothing has worked so far. Can you help?

Thank you for your reply. Shockwave is loaded and enabled.
The files in flash directory are: a folder called FlashPlayerTrust: file, flash10q.ocx: file, FlashInstall.log; file, FlashUtil10q_ActiveX.dll; file, FlashUtil10q_ActiveX.exe, file, install.log.
    There is no file: NPSWF32.dll.
When I test the browsers I get no spinning logo in either Safari or IE9. Safari says: missing plug-in, where I think the logo should be. IE-9 says nothing at the same location.
    Thanks.

  • Sites that use adobe flash player work on safari but not on firefox-it keeps asking me to download adobe flash player

Whenever I try to use a web site that needs Adobe Flash Player, Firefox asks me to download it. When I download it and try again, it still asks me to download. When I access the same web site using Safari, I have no problem. This is true for many web sites - whichever ones require Adobe Flash Player.

    Carole,
You do not seem to have Adobe Flash (aka Shockwave Flash) installed. If you did you would see it listed under your plugins. Follow the instructions in the article below to install Flash in Firefox.
    See: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Installing+the+Flash+plugin
After the installation, check your version here: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
    or here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
    Current version is: 10.1.53.64

  • My page works in Safari, but not in Internet Explorer

I am working on a new site, www.icu-usapro.com. I am working
on a mac and have the page looking and working fine in safari, but
when i view it in Internet Explorer, the menu at the top moves and
the links do not work. I imported the top from fireworks as HTML
and used javascript to get the buttons to work. Could someone help
me find out why it changes from browser platforms, I really need it
    to work in IE.
    thanks,
    Tom

Just noticed that in IE and FireFox (Mac) your menubar
overwrites part of the graphic in the top left.
I tend to use FireFox (with the JavaScript console open) when
developing stuff and then test in Safari every now and again to
make sure it looks ok there, rather than use Safari during
development and testing occasionally in Firefox (or Camino).

  • Slideshow widgets work in Safari but not in Internet Explorer.

I have tried both the Spry Image Slideshow with Filmstrip and the Spry Image Slideshow - Basic. They work well in Safari but they skip images in Internet Explorer. I am using the default widgets in each instance. In IE only the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th and 15th slides display and they do so without any real transitions. I haven't tried other browsers yet.  Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'm having a similar issue. The Spry Slideshow - Basic widget works great in Firefox, but won't work in IE8.
Here's the test link I set up. http://arts-festival.com/TESTSLIDE.php

I get sound when using my MacPro with Safari but not with Firefox.

Did you check the volume setting in the player to make sure that the sound isn't muted?

  • Flash player works on youtube but not yahoo homepage

Flash player works on youtube but when trying to watch video on yahoo homepage says need to download adobe flash player I have already uninstalled several times but still won't work please help

YouTube uses javascript to determine if Flash Player is installed and switches to HTML5 (MP4), which requires no plugin, if Flash Player isn't detected. Yahoo doesn't do that yet. Here's why this is important, especially if you're using IE11.
The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. This is a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • Ftp access works with Safari but not with Netscape or Explorer

The problem I am trying to solve is that my ftp service works correctly with Safari but gives an error message when the ftp service is access via Netscape or Explorer. Error message is "530 Guest login disabled". These two web browsers will not display a login screen for access by real users; Safari provides the login screen. The server is restricted to real users only

Check your firewall settings as well but I do not think that is it.

  • How can I copy-paste text from Firefox to Apple Mail preserving all formatting? It works with Safari but not with Firefox, otherwise I'd pick Firefox

I have a very big list of correspondents to whom I often send articles.
I cannot copy them from Firefox and paste them onto Apple Mail because they look WEIRD and not at all like the original. Most formatting disappears.
I do not encounter the same problem with Safari, and THAT is one of the two reasons I am forced to use it even if it gives me lots of problems.
The other one is that Safari 5 has a built-in RSS reader, which is essential for my work.
If you could manage to have those two things working, I'd pick Firefox in a second and advertise the fact to thousands who would do the same.

Try one of these feed readers if the build-in Firefox reader doesn't suit you.

  • Works fine with Safari but not with Internet Explorer

Hi, I just created a website using iWeb, and it looks great in Safari in my Mac and iphone, but when I try to open it in Vaio using Internet Explorer, I get some problems. Sometimes the page just don't open, and when it opens, the fonts are not the same, and things are moved around. What can be the problem and how can I fix it? By the way, I use mobile me for hosting, and my site is www.ogucuo.com
    Thanks!

When you use a font that is not "Web Safe" the computer that downloads your page may not have that font installed. It substitutes another one and this causes the text box to expand and push the other stuff around.
If you enter some text into a box on an iWeb page and then change the font you will see how the text box expands to accommodate a bigger font.
If you really want to use a special font, sparingly, convert it to an image by typing it into a shape or putting a slight shadow on it in the "Graphic" inspector. The iWeb help menu will tell you about this.
If you turn on "Show text imaging indicator" in iWeb preferences you will get a visual indication of the text being converted to an image.
I say sparingly because each image increases your page file size and download time.

  • Flash Player works for Administrator but not other users

I have Flash Player 10.2.153.1 installed and I am running Windows Vista 32-bit and Windows Internet Explorer 8.  If I am logged in as the Administrator I have no problem watching video previews from the Odeon and other similar websites.  However, if logged on a Standard user account Odeon film previews cannot be seen - all I get is a blank white viewing box with a small square box in the top left corner with the colours red, green and blue in it (it is too vague to make out what the logo is even when zoomed in).  The inability to watch video clips for Standard users seems to be random as some sites work while others do not?  Can anyone help solve this problem?  Why do I have this problems for the standard user accounts on some websites but not at all for the Administrator account on any website ???

    Experienced same problems: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/790415
Would very much appreciate a solution.

  • ASAP!!  Flash Player Works on Computer But Not Live.  (Could Be Easy)

I need to present this site in a couple of hours and ran into this problem.
I just added a Flash button that works perfectly on every single page except my gallery.php.  All the other pages are .html.  On my computer I can see the button perfectly, but when I uploaded and viewed the file it tells me to update my player.  Why would it not work live and does it have anything to do with it being a .php file?  Here's a link that works, The "Primerica" button on the top right is the focal point.
    Works:
    http://shepardsuperteam.com/chris/inner_circle.html
    Doesn't Work
    http://shepardsuperteam.com/chris/gallery.php
It looks more presentable in IE7 than FF but I need to remedy this ASAP!!!

With an intermittent problem, whether a solution really works
needs to be tested extensively. Someone else reported being able to
play Flash in FF with Flash 9 installed, IF they also had Flash 8
installed. But in that case and in yours, was there sufficient
testing before the solution was reported? Check out this page with
FF (it's a page that tends to generate the problem with a high
    frequency, but not always):
    http://www.yoism.org/?q=node/52#jill
If repeated testing on that page doesn't crash your ability
to play Flash, then your solution may really work. What version of
Flash does Adobe say you have when you visit this page?:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_15507&sliceId=1
The other problem with IE is probably unrelated to this. Did
you reinstall Flash for IE? For IE, you have to run the exe program
    with winax.exe in the name.

  • Safari download problem with Safari but not with Internet Explorer.

When I drag photos from web-sites via Int.Explorer they end up on my desktop as little pictures. I can see what they are. When I do it with Safari they end up as pages with a turned corner & JPEG at the bottom. The only way to see what they are is to click them for Preview to open.
Why does Safari not do as Int.Explorer & is there any way of making it do so?

    Found the answer in Mac OS Help, topic "Changing the way icons look on the desktop";
Click the background, select View > Show View Options from the menu; check "Show icon preview" in the pop-up menu. Now try copying images from Safari to your desktop!

  • Flash page works in Safari but not in Firefox

I generate my web pages using LR. When I launch my pages on Safari they look great but on Firefox the slideshow portion is sized MUCH smaller. I have attached the page herehttp://www.8aphotography.com/Interior_Photography_Page/index.html. Please check out on both Firefox and Safari to see what I mean. If anyone can give guidance that would be much appreciated.

I figured it out. I did not have a </div> at the end of a group of text I added. Funny how Firefox picked it up but not Safari.

    Hi,
if you put IE in the searchbox you will find a lot of threads talking about IE issues. Basically it's all about "Internet Explorer does not follow the correct web standards as it should.". So it's an issue in IE and not iWeb. make sure people update their browsers and get a REAL browser like Firefox (or Safari).
Also look at this thread and the threads linked to in this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5426291&tstart=0#5426291
There is nothing we can do in iWeb...
