Flash plug in failure – player crashes in Safari
Having just updated to Adobe Flash Player 13 (from the v.12 plug-in) I am now unable to play video/audio in Safari without a plug-in failure and it crashing! I have the same issue in Firefox too. I have checked everything obvious within settings, reinstalled the Flash player, even trying going back to the previous version, but nothing works. I've even reinstalled OSX, repaired the permissions etc.. but no joy.
If anyone can point me to a possible fix it would be much appreciated. The most recent crash report is here...

Since it is happening with 2 browsers, try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

I recently bought & downloaded Mac OS 10.6.8 — "flash plug-in failure" in SAFARI 5.0.5 now mostly continuous. A user 2wks ago suggested in thread: remove .xpt file from apps library. I did that and mac was working wonderfully then!

I do agree that, most Adobe flash based programs crash on a Mac. But, its Vimeo's fault to adopt flash.
The majority of the internet community use flash content/plugins. Unfortunately not HTML5, that Safari is good at performance in comparison to Flash apps.
10% of the 3rd party internet Enhancers like Ms.Apple Developer should transform the Flash community. -
Flash Plug-in Failure in Safari w/image uploads
Hello All!
I'm having upload issues with two online services that I use. I am not getting any notifications, it is just not uploading. Well, that's true for one, with other, I upload, the # of images I selected for upload appear, but then they aren't uploading and the little circle that is supposed to be green and checked isn't. Then I open to select images again, and where you can select images to import the images from your computer, there is "plug-in failure" and nothing more. It doesn't say WHICH plug-in is failing, it just says plug-in failure.
This is what I have done so far (not in any particular order):
•reinstalled flash
•reinstalled acrobat reader
•reinstalled silverlight
•reinstalled Java
•reinstalled the Mountain Lion OS (twice)
•cleared my history
•cleared my cache
•reset safari
Any help you could provide would be appreciated. One is a main part of my sales process and I'm in dire need of it to work. [Yes, I have contacted their support but they said, after a week of their techs working on it, that it is an issue on my end, not their's.]

A little over a month ago, I updated to the latest version of Flash Player and it suddenly stopped working properly. Some items work, some give me 'plug in failure'.
Works: Netflix, about 50% of YouTube videos
Doesn't work: the other 50% of YouTube videos, non YouTube videos, most embedded audio files
It's driving me crazy.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Flash 11.8 (more than once), including a clean uninstall making sure there are no leftover files in other locations on the computer.
I have uninstalled and installed older versions of Flash. I think it was 10.3 that worked for awhile, but now it seems all older versions say 'blocked plug-in' because apparently I "don't have the latest security updates" and should "update to the latest version of Flash". Frustrating, for obvious reasons. I have tried several older version including 10.1, 10.3, 11.1, 11.7, and all either give 'blocked plug-in' or 'plug-in failure'.
I've seen that other people have had similar issues but none seem to have been resolved.
I've anyone knows a solution OR an alternative to Flash Player, I'd really appreciate it. Is there an alternative to Flash Player? Are we really relying on just one plugin for so many things that just lets an issue like this sit for over a month without doing anything about it?
I am using a 2010 MacBook Pro, OSX 10.6.8 (willing to upgrade if that really is the problem), and the problem is consistent in all browsers: Safari 5.1.9, Firefox 23.0.1 ("The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed"), not really a Chrome user I was having other issues with that I can't check right now, but it seem Safari is not the problem.It seems it does actually work with 10.3 on Firefox only, so long as I do a clean uninstall and download the most recent 10.3. Safari still says blocked plugin and if I click it it just tells me to download the latest Flash.

Just upgraded to Lion 10.7.4, then the video stopped playing in Safari.

I'm running Mac OS 10.5.8 on a Intel Imac and I'm facing the same problem since the first time I wanted to upgrade the version 10 of the Flash plug-in.
I have different accounts and various internet browsers (Safari, FireFox, Opera, Chrome) only Safari, on my main account (admin), causes problems. Actually the plug-in (10.3) is properly installed in /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/, so common to all accounts (the users' Internet Plug-Ins folders are empty) and it is visible from the System Preferences application.

But Safari doesn't lists the flash plug-in in the installed plug-ins page and returns a missing plug-in error message as I visit any website containing a flash movie. When I replace the current plug-in with version 10.0.r2 it works fine.
Before installing any upgrade I first run the uninstaller, restart the computer and then install the newest version. I tried many things to fixe this very annoying problem without success. I'm not going to list all of them but I mainly cleared Safari and Flash Player preferences, Safari Cache.db, removed all other plug-ins (to check for conflicts). I also used some tools as Apple Disk utily and OnyX to repair disk permissions and fix other possible problems.

I have uninstall Flash Player Debugger and the Flash Plugin
removed all plug-ins from /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Replaced all previous versions of Flash player by the latest version (10.3r183)
I ran all OnyX maintenance scripts and repaired disk permissions
After restarting the computer I installed the plug-in and replaced all previous plug-in version everywhere
e.g. : /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash Player/Flash Player.plugin
Restarted again and then launched Safari. The plugin is well in /Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, but not listed in installed plug-ins list
I repeated this "procedure" several time, from different accounts, I also removed the admin rights on the problematic account and perform the installation from a new admin account without success!
I can drop any plug-in in the Internet Plug-Ins folder and I only have to refresh the the Installed Plug-ins page in order that Safari takes it into account. All, but the flash plug-in!
I really do no understand why Safari can't "see" newer plug-ins than the 10.0 version.
I'm lost and ran out of ideas! -
Flash Plug-In Corrupt Version Crashing Websites?
This problem is related to some other threads, but it contains a separate issue.
I use Win7, and Flash Player has been crashing websites with vide content on both Internet Explorer 9 and Firefox. Firefox confirms that a Flash Player Plug-in crash is the culprit. A good webpage to test this at is http://www.economist.com/news/business/21572172-why-investors-frontier-markets-need-someon e-show-them-around-guide-africa. The page initially loads very quickly. Then, half a minute later when an embedded video tries to load, Explorer hangs, while Firefox identifies the offending plug-in and disables the video.
I have followed all available advice on the forum on the plug-in crashing, including Chris' video tutorial on YouTube. So I have used the Adobe uninstaller, loaded a new version of Flash, separately loaded the last archived 10.3 version, updated hardware drivers etc. None of this has worked.
I have now stumbled upon something else that may not be helping, and ask for someone's help please...
When I uninstall Flash using the uninstaller, the Adobe site (http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html) confirms that I then have NO Flash Player installed. However, there still remain two 'standard' icons on my Programs and Features list:
- Adobe Flash Player Plugin 10/10/12 6MB 11.4.402.287
- Adobe Flash Player ActiveX 9/10/12 6MB 11.4.402.287
I cannot delete these entries above even if I try through the Registry using instructions available on the internet. It says permission denied even though I am the computer administrator. And when I reinstall Flash Player - either the latest version or the last archived 10.3 version - this doesn't appear on my Programs and Features list. Instead, the above two entries remain exactly as before - with the same icons and same date etc. This is even though a new Flash program is loaded and working.
Are these two entries corrupted versions? I cannot now remember, but they may have come about because I tried to uninstall Flash last year before I heard about the Adobe uninstaller. But, even then, the uninstaller should be able to budge them now, and allow any new version to show up on the Programs list. Can someone please help me to wipe out Flash Player (and these two entries) completely, so that I may start afresh? Thank youHello,

Flash Player crashing in Safari (and Firefox)
Safari crashes when I'm viewing various Flash content. For example, the BBC Radio iPlayer crashes after about 10s of playback. This does not appear to be the fonts issue that seems to have caused other people's problems. I've reinstalled the Flash Player (version 9.0.115.0) and have a vanilla install of Safari. OS X 10.5, all updates applied. This started happening pretty recently, not sure whether it correlated with anything.
Firefox also crashes similarly, but posting here as it seems like the most appropriate area in the discussions.

Tried the official Flash uninstaller and reinstalled.
Also tried disabling all the mime-types for quicktime, and the options to play movies automatically and save them in the disk cache.
It still crashes pretty consistently on http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/djs/?lhn (usually after no more than 3 or 4 reloads). (the iPlayer may have been a red herring - I always had this page in the background).
The only thing that I can identify is that the permissions repair process identified, and failed to fix, a few permissions errors on the Flash player, even post reinstall. Specifically:

I think that this is a red-herring too. Can't see why it should need group write access to these files (particularly when it doesn't need it for the other localisations). But I'll go and change them manually if anyone can suggest a convincing reason why that might be causing the problem.
Anyone have any constructive observations or advice? I can post many more crash dumps (with the binary images bit too if necessary), but they all look pretty much the same. Can anyone reproduce the same problem by reloading that page a few times? -
Flash player crashing in safari + firefox

Ever since I updated the flash player, my browser (either/both of them) eventually crashes while watching flash content. It doesn't usually happen for the first hour or so, but it happens a lot, maybe every few hours. Its really getting annoying. Sometimes I can switch browsers for a day or 2 before it happens again. Sometimes I can't force quit + must reboot.
This very rarely happened before the most recent upgrade. Also its crashing on fairly stable, reliable sites, ie, comedycentral.com, lynda.com, cnn.com ...I haven't seen any Mac users in this forum for a very long time.

Adobe Flash 10.1 web Player Crashes when Activating Webcam
Hi Everyone,
I installed 10.1 Adobe Flash Web Player for Firefox, IE, and Chrome. We have applications we use where it activates the webcam and the mic and now when I click accept the flash player always crashes. I have made all the changes asked of me from the support forum including uninstalling the flash player and reinstalling it. I also tried installing the 64bit flash player and using IE 64 bit on my laptop and it still crashes. It prompts you to allow flash to activate my mic and webcam and when I click accept it always crashes. This did not happen with the previous version of flash. I have looked for new drivers for my computer and there are none, I have tried so many times to fix this with no luck. Can anyone please help me as I did not have this issue until 10.1.
I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I also am running firefox 32bit and IE 64bit and none of them work. I have uninstalled the 10.1 flash player and reinstalled it with no luck. If you're having a problem with a specific plugin, you need to contact its author for support. If you have problems with all your plugins, then it's a different matter. Is that the case? -
Adobe Flash plug-in failure in Lion 10.7.4 - HOW TO FIX?
Just upgraded to Lion 10.7.4, then the video stopped playing in Safari.
Upgraded Safari, then installed the latest Flash player, V. 11.2.202.235
Also have the latest graphic card drivers.
VIDEOS NO LONGER RUN IN SAFARI!!
I am beginning to remember the nightmares we used to have when we upgraded Windows. I don't want to change anything any more. Apple is beginning to suck. I only went to Lion because Apple forced me because of iCloud. MANY REGRETS NOW.
I was going to upgrade my wife's laptop tomorrow. Now I won't until someone helps me fix my computer.

You're clearly very upset about all this and while I can't specifically help you, perhaps the following will ease your mind.
There have been a number of reports similar to yours over the past week or so, especially since the 10.7.4 update.
Highly respected Baltwo on this forum recommended filing a bug report to Apple.
You should try to make use of the small section to the right of your original post 'More like this' which usually relates to the question you asked. And from each p[oiunt made there are usually other leads.
Just needs a bit of research

Firefox flash plug-in constantly freezing/crashing
For the past 5 months now my Firefox has been crashing every time after every couple of hours. Ive tried the main solutions of updating flash, fresh install, disabling, wiped the history/temp files etc. I'm at a complete loss here as to what is causing this crash :S

Version in use: 3.16As i stated in my first post ive updated flash, uninstalled completely from my system, reinstalled a fresh new copy and yet it still crash's, shortly after i posted it crashed on me again.
All my drivers are up to date, also ive already done all those steps that you have listed and yet it still ends in the same result, plugin has crashed.
I'm actually getting quite fed up with this crashing, Iv'e researched it quite a bit an yet still no results to the point that Im now thinking of changing browser now as nothing i do fixes the problem.
PS: as i typed this flash plugin crashed again which makes it 3 times now withing 3 hours, crashing on the hour.

Safari crashes w/ message that flash plug-in may be corrupted?
I have been using Safari for sometime with a NYTimes start page. Suddenly a message appears that flash-plug-in may be corrupted. Safari crashes and does not load before any action can be taken.
So I downloaded the uninstaller for flash player, reinstalled new player; the green light tells me it was installed successfully. Clicked on Safari, and same thing happened with only part of front page loaded.
I then located the plug-in, trashed it, and clicked on Safari which then opened completely with message that since there was no plug-in the mime content could not load. Everything else worked OK.
I really need the mime content on some of the Web Sites I visit, and am frustrated by being unable to re-install the flash player plug in. This happened suddenly, with no new installations that I can think of. My updates are current. I do not have intel. Can anyone help me solve this problem?ended up with "clean install" per Apple technician. Never
discovered what caused problem, but feeling is that it was and Adobe problem which couldn't be solved. -
I installed Adobe Flash Player, but YouTube is still telling me that I need Flash plug-in?
I have Safari 7.0, and when I go to youtube, it says that I need the latest flash plug-in, and I keep downloading it but it's still saying the same thing. Flash plug-ins are already enabled in Safari preferences, so I'm not sure what the issue is.
Yes, done all that but there is no adobe flash player listed in the add ons >plug ins site. However in the program listings on the start section adobe flash player is displayed.
I have tried down loading it again and although I have done this from downloads and it displays as done it does not reappear in plug ins.

My Adobe Flash plug in is still crashing. I first attempted the Update Flash. It worked for a day before it started crashing again. So I went back to the page and attempted the 2nd solution of downgrading flash to 10.3. Again it worked for a day or two but now is giving me the same issue. I am getting extremely frustrated.
Thank you. I uninstalled both and reinstalled 11.5. It is working currently. Hopefully it will continue!
