Flash plugin install fails silently on Win 8.1.

Reports success. But the adobe site which checks for it verifies it is not there and firefox keeps asking for it.
Tried all listed methods at mozilla and adobe pages. This started a couple of weeks ago. I have Firefox 33.1.1.
I'd like to do a manual install. But the directory where adobe is putting its files (under Windows, SysWOW something containing MacroMed dir) does not contain any files with the file types the manual install wizard requires ( .xpi and.jar).
This is the last bin in the flash install log:

Hi,
I'm a bit confused with your description, as you said adobe flash player couldn't play any vedio. How about Youtube vedio? Does it works fine?
It would be better to provide an example link for your problem, then I would made an test for you.

    Any error message?
    See if the following instructions/information works for you.
    There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash:
    *an '''ActiveX version''' for IE only
    *a '''Plugin version''' for most other browsers including Firefox
    *On a Windows system, you should always update both individually.
    '''''You do not appear to have the Plugin version for Firefox installed. ''''' If you did, in Add-ons > Plugins you would see "Shockwave Flash ''(version)''".
    '''<u>Install or update Adobe Flash</u>'''<br />
    #'''Using Firefox''', go to the following direct download link and SAVE the download to your desktop so you can find it later: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
    #When the download is finished, close Firefox (File > Exit '''''OR''''' Firefox button > Exit)
    #Click or double-click on the file you just saved to your desktop
    #*In the installation window that appears, click the box to the left of "I have read and...." to place a check mark in the box
    #*The "Install" button in the lower right corner will now be highlighted, click it.
    #*The installation is quick.

    Why is Flash now so unstable in Firefox? The Flash has crashed indicator is now a familiar visitor (it generally goes when I refresh the page so it's not hugely fatal!) But . . . I am having to go back to IE to check the reliability with my own sites - which are heavily dependent on flash for animation and video. What can be done? My Firefox and Flash installations are kept up to date. Really disappointing.

  • Flash Player Install failed with error code: 30

    Hi, I want to report a problem with the Adobe Flash Player 13.0.0.182 (Mac OS X, English) installer on OS X 10.9.2. Mavericks.  I'm posting this so the engineers will know what to fix in the next update version.
    I have a 2013 iMac so according to Adobe blog posts it shouldn't be affected by the invalid cpu instruction issue.
    Symptom is the first installer downloads the 2nd, starts to launch it, then quits it with "Error: Unable to proceed with the installation" and a green (success?) checkmark.  The GUI provides no other assistance except to "FINISH", which leads to the generic "Adobe Flash Player could not be installed." page.
    The system log says: Adobe Flash Player Install Manager[22567]: Install failed with error code: 30.
    The FlashPlayerInstallManager.log says:

    I have a 2013 iMac so according to Adobe blog posts it shouldn't be affected by the invalid cpu instruction issue.
    Regardless... I still recommend "falling back" to 12 until they get this release right for everyone. I've read plenty of posts in the Apple forums from new iMac, Mini and MacBook users who've had nothing but trouble. Even the "gurus" there are linking to Chris Campbell's post here:

  • Latest flash player installation fails in IE8/Win XP

    I have been trying to install the latest version of the Flash Player on my XP system for two days. Here's my system info:
    Win = 32-bit Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3
    Browser = Internet Explorer Version 8.0.6001.18702
    Flash Player - the one I was using (recent but not a beta) was uninstalled when I tried to install your latest version at your site in the usual way. After a couple of attempts to install, I downloaded and ran the player uninstaller according the instructions found on your site - Adobe® Flash® Player Installer/Uninstaller 10.1 r53 - just to make sure I was doing a clean install. I also downloaded the latest version and ran it manually.
    All attempts to install have failed. I've seen two different installers, BTW, and they both reported failure but a reason and suggested your troubleshooting page.
    I went to the troubleshooting page, where I tried everything, by the book.
    Most recent attempts produced the following message when attempting to install from your site:
    "The version of adobe flash player active x that you are trying to install is not the most current version. Please visit http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer to obtain the latest, most secure version."
    I went to that page, again without success. There are no Flash active x components listed in my browser objects.
    I was able to install the latest version of Shockwave player (I tried, just to see if that would fail, but that was successful.)
    I should add that I do some web work using Flash 8, so that is also on my system, but I have never run into a problem installing a newer Flash Player until now. (And I have been using Flash since before Macromedia, when it was called FutureSplash.)
    Obviously, HELP!

    This one nearly did me in. Countless uninstalls/installs, headstands, etc. later, I finally found a solution that worked for me:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/494/cpsid_49419.html
    I hope this works for you, too!!
    A damaged Windows system registry or incorrect registry permissions settings may prevent you from installing Flash Player.
    Symptoms may include:
    During installation, you see the error message "Failed to install. For Troubleshooting please see: http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_19166."
    Your Flash Player installation finishes with no error, but you cannot view Flash content in Internet Explorer.
    Some sites tell you that you do not have the correct version of Flash Player, even though you have installed the latest version.
    Some sites tell you to reinstall Flash Player, but after you do so, you see the same message.
    Permissions can be tricky, but in most cases, you can install and use Adobe Flash Player if you are logged into a Windows Administrator account. If you don't know how to do this, check with your system administrator, or read your Windows documentation.
    System administrators
    If you are a system administrator, see Registry permissions required for Flash Player install or update (TechNote tn_19148).
    Solution
    Warning! By following the directions below, you will modify the Windows System Registry. A mistake could cause serious system damage, which may require you to reinstall your operating system.
    If you are not comfortable editing the registry, get help from your system administrator or another IT professional.
    If you choose to proceed, first back up your entire hard drive, and create a Windows System Restore Point.
    Adobe Systems cannot be held responsible for damage resulting from your following these instructions.
    Make sure you are logged into a Windows Administrator account. If you are not, you will not be able to use SubInACL.
    Download SubInACL from the Microsoft Download Center.
    Follow the installation instructions. Make sure you install SubInACL (subinacl.exe) to the directory C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools.
    Download the reset_fp10.zip file.
    Open the fp10.zip file and extract the reset_fp10.cmd file to the directory C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools\. Note that that both this file and SubInACL (subinacl.exe) must be in this directory.
    Double-click reset_fp10.cmd. A command window will open, and SubInACL will run.
    Do not use the machine while SubInACL is running.
    After SubInACL finishes, you will see a prompt "Press any key to continue".
    Install Flash Player from the Flash Player download page.
    To confirm that your installation succeeded, visit the About Flash Player page. At the top of the screen, you should see a message that reads "Adobe Flash Player Successfully Installed."

  • No matter how many uninstalls and reinstalls Firefox 4 will not play flash videos w the latest flash plugin installed. What do I do to get flash videos to play like everyone esle can?

    Trying to solve my non-playing flash videos wherever I surf in Firefox 401 w Flash plugin 10.2.159.1, such as CNN or anywhere really while surfing. Even at the Adobe web site I cannot play demo videos and I own CS4 Suite. I can play any YouTube video I select.
    I surf in Firefox 401 w Flash plugin 10.2.159.1. Don't tell me to UNINSTALL then REINSTALL the flash player as I have done that too many times.
    I logged out and logged into my clean account where I install nothing. No joy.
    What the heck is the problem? No one else seems to have this problem as I am told many play CNN videos fine.

    Hi arpriltime,
    Have you looked at our [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-crashes-or-flash-plugin-crashes Flash plugin troubleshooting section]? There is a lot of useful information in there that should help you get to the bottom of your issue.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Large number of swf files causes Flash plugin to fail

    I'm displaying up to 700 swf files on a page as links to launch an AIR app.  These appear within a worklist with one swf for each worklist item.  This causes the Flash plugin for IE to fail.  Any ideas what causes this and how it can be addressed?  We are already looking at reducing the number of swf's as a short-term fix.

    There is no limit that I am aware of, but you should keep mindful of what is reasonable. Chances are your viewer will lose focus after about 15-30 min, so anything longer than that may not have the effectiveness that you are looking for.

  • Flash 10 install fail after 10.6.2 update. Help please.

    It all started after the new 10.6.2 update I did for Snow Leopard
    I don't know if this is an something you here at adobe can fix or its something going on at Apple.
    Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me?
    Opera, and firefox unexpectidy quit as well.
    and my wacom drivers are out of wack.
    I tryed to uninstall flash player but that too unexpectidly quits.
    When I try to restart it gets hung up, and I have to do a hard start to get logged into my computer again.
    I ran the disk utility and repaired permissions, that didn't help.
    Anyway the install failed said I should contact Adobe so here I am.

    Good News I Fixed it.
    So what I did was downoad and install the MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.2.dmg
    Found here
    http://www.apple.com/support/snowleopard/
    On the left you will see the downloads, The one you want is the (combo) version.
    Just as a precaution, I would recommend backups, as these little glitches are often percursers to the big fail.
    I use corbonite, you can search for it on your own, or time machine ect, whatever works best for you.
    Sorry I may have been rude, I have always liked Adobe products and I have no doubt that the people at Adobe are working hard to keep everything working, it must be quite hard to deal with irate customers all day.
    Hope this helps some people.
    Thanks again.

  • Why does Flash plugin keep failing?

    I want to know why the Flash plugin is always crashing in Safari?

    Might not just be Flash that's causing Safari to crash.
    Post a crash report.
    If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash  information.
    Copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.

  • Adobe Flash plugin installed but not showing up

    Since 2-18-2013, my Adobe Flash Player is neither appearing as being installed with FireFox19 ... NOR does it work on any website other than the Adobe "verify" page. I have:
    a. Removed Flash Player and rebooted
    c. Reinstalled Flash Player from download location; rebooted; restarted FireFox.
    d. Removed latest flash player (per "c" above); rebooted.
    e. Downloaded a older version of F/P, rebooted, restarted.
    Bottom line: No Flash Player works.
    When I (somehow) navigated to the "about:plugins" there is NO Flash Player.
    HELP ... I'm a senior and so frustrated now.
    Thanks in advance.

    My problem is exactly the same as the first poster. No doubt if I started a new question there would be someone telling me "that questions already been asked". The point is those solutions and all the solutions suggested on firefox support aren't working for this problem. That this occurred only with the new version of firefox is indicative of a deeper problem specific to this build.

  • Flash player Install Failed

    Downloaded latest version of Flash Player and although it shows as sucessful it does not install.Same result three times.I have Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 11.

    I really wish Microsoft would admit they made a HUGE mistake with IE11 and FIX IT!
    This is a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
    Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
    I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
    ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • Flash player install #Fail. What's up?

    Hi Friends!
    I've tried to install the latest Flash Player every which way but Sunday for the past week, but to no avail.
    I've got a MacBook Pro, running 10.9.5 and I've attempted to do the install via Firefox (34.0) and Safari.
    I've run in circles through your help page -- all tips were informative and clear, but none worked. And, now that I've followed the steps to uninstall and do a fresh install, I have no flash player on my site at all and no access to a number of resources/tools I need.
    It appears that others in the forum are having similar difficulty, but no solutions I've found answer my problem.
    Please help.
    Thanks!

    Hello,
    We are aware of install issues with the online shim installer and are working to resolve those.  Most people find success using the offline installer posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac page.  Have you tried the installer posted at the bottom of this page?  Since you're using Safari and Firefox, you'll want to download the NPAPI plugin, not the PPAPI plugin.

  • FLASH ARCHIVE INSTALATION FAIL

    Hi guys,
    I am just trying to install the following Flash Archive:
    bash-2.05# flar -i Cms
    archive_id=792943ac9a79c51395a2244413ca7bc4
    files_archived_method=cpio

    creation_master=cmssun1
    content_name=Solaris9 + Operations 8.12
    creation_node=cmssun1
    creation_hardware_class=sun4u
    creation_platform=SUNW,Sun-Fire-V240
    creation_processor=sparc
    creation_release=5.9
    creation_os_name=SunOS

    bash-2.05# ls -la Cms
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root other 3458497988 Apr 27 11:32 Cms
    bash-2.05# file Cms
    Cms: ascii text
    After booting from CD, I select Flash Archive Installation -> From Local device. I select the correct device, and when I point to the file /Cms, the program says: "could not find archive".
    This Flash Archive was created on a SUNW,Sun-Fire-V240. The system I am trying to install is a SUNW,Ultra-60.
    I appreciate any help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ricardo

    When you boot off a CD, the hard drive root file system normally is mounted under /a, assuming the image is on the system that you want to install the image on..

  • Flash msi install failing

    I have a few workstations on our network that are having install issues with flash msi files.  I have run the flash removal utitlity, updated windows installer to the latest version (4.5 for XP), unregistered/re-registered windows installer, registered vbscript.dll via command prompt, run ccleaners registry repair and still am getting the error 'Error 2753 the file is not marked for installation' when I run the .msi.  If I download and run the .exe for flash it succeeds.  I normally install flash via Group Policy, which is why I need the .msi to work.  Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    We're actually investigating this problem right now.  Would you be willing to do a desktop sharing session with one of our engineers?  If so, please contact me directly at [email protected]
    Thanks,
