Flash preloader starts from 60%???

Hi Friends,
My website http://www.goincubix.com starts from 60%. I'm sure it waits for the audio to load because the audio is some 400KB. The overall flash swf is 810KB.
I tried many solutions mentioned online. I tried loading the sound externally/internally in the first frame. Also tried loading sound from the second frame. Currently in the website the sound is internally placed, thats the best outcome so far, so I left it that way.
Whats the workaround for this? In linkage settings, theres a checkbox for "add in 1st frame" - if I dont check it, the sound doesnt come at all. The blank screen till the preloaded reaches 60% is so boring. The preloader should be starting from 1% right?
Please help me with this. Thanks in advance.

The Flash loading progress is stalled when Flash encounters audio or video in the file that it is loading. This is a long standing situation with Flash. If you need to have a reliable loading progress reported to your user, then you will need to remove the sound file(s) from the the file that you want to track.
Bringing a complex file or set of files to a user quickly and elegantly can be a difficult process. There is no single, simple solution. I usually use external sound files unless they are very short. If you remove the sound file from your current movie, it will load much more quickly. Once loaded, you can then load in the sound file(s) that you need. This will mean that there is a small delay before the sound begins, but you should be able to design the opening so that the sound is not need immediately.
Another solution is to have a very small opening movie, that loads in a larger file. This larger file can, in turn load in the sound(s) that it needs. The small opening movie can occupy the user until the full content is ready.

  • Creating a FM Book and then Flash RoboHelp starting from PDF

At our business we have an SOP (Standard Operating Procedures). There are about 20 chapters. We create them in Publisher and then convert to PDF and then post on our internal Wiki for all to see. This works for us. However, one of the chapters is 49 pages long and contains many tables that break down about 60 different adjustments our Call Center agents could use on a customer's account. We have a lot of agents doing a lot of adjustments wrong. So I've been tasked with coming up with a better system for agents to find the right adjustment and use it. The bosses wanted me to put the whole document into a spreadsheet. The first tab of the spreadsheet would be a list of questions, i.e. Are you giving a credit because of an outage? Are you giving a credit because of a PPV that didn't display?, and clicking on the question would take them to a tab that shows the appropriate adjustment. (This would save me from having to recreate the PDF links everytime I edit the PUB file and re-create the PDF.) Sounds good, but very archaic to me. I don't want to revert to spreadsheet when I have the Adobe Tech Comm Suite. I watched RJ's videos and was able to take the final Flash file from the Robo Help video and put it on our wiki and everyone loves it. Loves how easy it is to use, that it is searchable and well laid out. So, now my dilema, how do I take our existing PUB or PDF files and convert them to FM Books? I think I can figure out how to take the book to RoboHelp, but I don't know how to accomplish the first step. If there is an existing thread about this, please post it and I will read it. If you've done this before, please share your secret. Thanks!

The full version of Acrobat lets you save a PDF as an RTF file, which Frame can open. (There's a free eval you can use, if you don't have it.)
There are also a herd of third-party utility programs that do the conversion -- Google is your friend here.
After you've pulled the data out of the PDF, remember that you still need to divide the content into chapters/files and use those to build your book.

  • In Flash the sound does not play only started from the beginning. Can anyone please help?

In Flash, the sound only plays if the file is started from the beginning. The sound doesn't play if starting from anywhere other than the beginning.
This is very frustrating when trying to sync the animation with the sound as it's not possible to scroll back and forward with the sound playing. The only way the sound works is if it is started from the beginning.
If anyone can help that would be fantastic.
    Thanks

    Hi Jeromie,
Many thanks for your help. Here is some additional information, which may shed light on the problem.
I am using Flash Professional CC  2014.0 release,  Build 14.0.0.110
The computer I'm using is then iMac running OSX version 10.9.3 Build 13D65 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
I am using Flash, not a web-based editor that leverages Flash Player.
"a direct link to the project or tool would be useful in allowing us to attempt to reproduce the problem" -  Not sure how to do this, how can I add the project to the forum?
Many thanks once again for your help, let me know if you need more information.
    Cheers
    Michael

  • Flash CC "stream" mp3 clip starts from beginning, regardless of current frame

I have an mp3 set to "stream", it's 25.7 seconds long, 41.1k, 16-bit, mono. "Stream" works fine when I scrub through the timeline by mouse, but during playback, the clip always start from the beginning, so it is out of sync unless I start from the first frame. How can I fix this? It makes the program much less usable for lip-sync.

I do see a bug logged internally for this. However since this is inconsistent repro, it will be great if you can PM me the test file that shows this problem.

    Mac OS 10.5 /
I deleted the " Private" folder ... and emptied the trash. So the folder and its contents no longer exists on my computer at all !!!
I do have the OS 10.5 dvd that i purchased years ago...
But my computer will not start from it on its own.
My question is what is the open source or terminal language code used to tell my mac to look in the DVD rom drive for startup info?  I know that im not the only person in this world who has deleted the "PRIVATE" folder and emptied the trash so it no longer exists on their machine...
That said theres gotta be a common fix for a Power PC G4 that has the OS X dvd in the rom drive but wont look to it to reinstall the vital contents of the PRIVATE folder.
Once again there is not a copy of this file or its contents in the recycle bin...
Also rebooting the machine , pressing and holding the letter C does not prompt the machine to look to the dvd rom drive.
I was reinstalling pro tools and figured I would make some room by cleaning my computers HD...
Lol It was a bad choice to delete this file ...
    Thanks guys

Okay sorry it took forever to respond... But for a while there I gave up on this computer!!!!
Money's been tight lately , so taking it in to a professional was not yet an option... though I did consider it eventhough.
Anyway long story short im glad I didnt spend any money because I already had all the tools necessary to fix this issue but was going about it in the wrong way. Okay so here is my scenario and the breakdown... Though this may not fix the issue for everyone :( which *****... But I know we all will have different circumstances.
    Anyway here we go...
Okay so first things first....  Years ago I purchased the OS 10.5.1 disk ... So that has always been in my possession!!!!
I realize that some may not have a disk to reflash your OS to your hard drive... but if you do your in luck.
2ndly ... I had an external harddrive with all of my itunes downloaded music so it was more than okay with me to delete my primary HD because all the important stuff could either be copied over or repathed to be located.
-------If you dont want to read through the whole story the fix is summed up in the bottom section-------
    Okay so now the SOLUTION!!!!
By trial and error , and pure boredom I opened up my computer to clean the inside...
    AND
    "Disconnected the primary HD"
and just because ....... REBOOTED my computer. Just to see what it would do.
Upon restart and though it looked like it would repeat its usual cycle...
About 1 minute in to that process my computer froze for about 2 seconds and flashed to the OS installation screen.
Mind you I havent seen this screen yet... Probably hasnt been since I installed the OS years ago.
After a bit of trial and error...
I decided to tell my computer to startup from the OS 10.5 disk located in my dvd rom drive and restarted once again...
    this setting is under
    Utilities / startup disk
After a little more trial and error ... I realized that I could reconnect the primary HD , restart the machine and return to the OS installation menu.
    So upon this discovery
I went to the Disk Utility located under Utilities
Highlighted my primary HD located in the left hand column
    Once highlighted ...
In the heading section on the right I selected the option
    Erase
in which I erased My current OS on my primary HD ...
I used the first option in the list under security... Because it seemed like the least invasive and would take the least amount of time to see if this process would actually work.
    I FORGOT to add something...
Another reason why I deleted my primary HD!!!!!
I forgot to say that it WOULD NOT!!!!! Show up in the STARTUP list as an option...Even After multiple reboots....
But like clockwork... Once I deleted its name IT SHOWED UP as an option!!!!
So back to the next step...
I returned to the STARTUP option under utilities ... And was then able to see MY primary HD now as a startup option...
But ofcourse it had no name because it we previously erased it.
So when Clicking my newly erased HD ... I was almost immediately prompted to REINSTALL the OS ...
Which said it would take about 57 minutes ... But I believe was alot less...
My issue was resolved ... My computer then stated the install was SUCCESSFUL!!!!!!! :))))))))))) lol ;)
It was like I was setting up for the first time ;) asking for my registration info...
The dilemma of deleting the private folder and emptying the trash is finally over resolved. Done ... and no extra money spent!!!!!!!!!
Its really crazy that the information for such a simple thing is not readily available. Especially being such a simple fix.
I know im not the only person who's had this issue , because i've seen numerous posts with similar wording.
I also know I wont be the last person to have this issue... So I hope this synopsis makes sense.
    -------One more time the fix------
*Insert your OS dvd into your dvd rom drive.
*Unplug your primary HD or corrupted startup disk
    *Reboot your machine...
Upon restart your primary HD will not be recognized...
    * you will then be prompted to select your language.
    Once selected
*Click Utilities/startup... Highlight the the selection that refers to the OS dvd located in the dvd rom drive.
    * Click restart...
!!!!!!!!!!Be sure to reconnect your Primary HD Before your computer restarts and you hear the chime!!!!!!!!
If you do not replug your HD before the chime it will not be recognized.
    In that case restart again.
    Upon restart once again
    *Choose your language...
    *Click Utilities / disk utility
In the left column select and
    *Highlight your HD ...
Then towards the top portion / center of the page
    *Click the heading Erase
Then on the page toward the bottom
    *Click security options
This will then provide erase options.
    I USED THE FIRST OPTION
    "Dont erase data"...
    *click OK
    * click erase...
Once erased which should take a few seconds
    *Cancel the disk utility...
    * Click Utilities / startup
And your newly erased HD should now appear in the list.
    * Select your drive from the list by highlighting
It should no longer have a name.
*Once selected, you will then be prompted to restart and install the OS to your newly erased HD...
    Thats it!!!!
Once everything reinstalls re-add your personal info or registration info and you are up and running.
    Goodluck ;)

You can't get there with GUID/GPT.
There are tips on making a USB flash device that is bootable.
You can set aside a small 6GB partition somewhere and put Windows 7 installer there and run it WHILE IN Windows.
Windows Vista can be upgraded in place to 7 RC.
    You'll need NTFS (30-50GB).
Windows doesn't support FW for booting.
You can create a drive that has Master Boot Record.

  • TS2570 Question re: "Start from your Mac OS X Install disc; use Disk Utility"

I've worked my way through the step-by-step trouble shooting in the TS2570 article up to "Start from your Mac OS X Install disc; use Disk Utility". So far, every step results in the same outcome - my formerly trusty 2007 Intel duo core iMac (24") will not start up, freezing on a grey screen with a blinking question mark on a folder. I don't completely understand this next step. I have both a Leopard and a Snow Leopard disc. I'm not positive whether these were for the iMac, or my old Macbook Pro. I assume this makes a difference.

Question (?) Mark, Blinking Folder, or Gray Screen at Startup
These are related but not identical issues. Their causes are outlined in Intel-based Mac- Startup sequence and error codes, symbols. Solutions may be found in:
A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac
A flashing question mark or globe appears when you start your Mac
Mac OS X- Gray screen appears during startup
In most cases the problems may be caused by one or more of these:
    a. Problem with the computer's PRAM - See Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM.
    b. Boot drive's directory has been corrupted - Repair with Disk Utility.
    c. Critical system files are damaged or deleted - Reinstall OS X.
    d. The disk drive is physically non-functional - Replace the hard drive.
Note that the information I have provided is what Apple recommends, If other users suggest different solutions than found here, then be sure what they recommend does not impact on your warranty, if any, or ability to get continuing Apple service.
Please don't start removing drives or changing cables unless you know what you are doing and have exhausted other non-invasive alternatives outlined here. If you perform any work yourself that is unapproved by Apple, then you will void any warranty you may have and lose all further Apple Support.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
The main difference if you are using Lion or Mountain Lion is that you must first boot from the Recovery HD. Simply boot from the Recovery HD to perform the above.
Reinstall Snow Leopard Without Erasing The drive
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing The Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Flash Preloader Issue

I have tried several methods of flash preloading for some
large flash movies I have. The loader indicator flashes for just a
brief moment and then there is blank data until the file loads. I
am using Go-live CS2. I had a friend publish the same code using a
different site and a different editor and it works. Does Go-live do
something weird to preloaders? Or, is it possible that my site
providers server is blocking script to prevent it from working? Any
ideas would be appreciated. If you have a suggestion of a preloader
that is for dummies like me, please send me a link. Thanks!

  • Drawing in Flash - V - Importing from Illustrator

Is there any advantages or disadvantages from creating vector artwork in Illustrator and then bringing it into Flash? or is it just better to do all drawings in flash?
I find it much easier to draw in Illustrator and then import the work into the flash library. Is it better to import the .ai file, or as an .eps? or something different?
    Thank you in advance.

That depends on what you want/need to do with the Illustrator file after you import it into Flash. Remember that Flash is a 72 ppi RGB application, so you need to set up your Illustrator file to these settings before you start or you will have to deal with the, usually awkward, translation that Flash performs on the file when it is imported.
If you will not be editing the Illustrator file, then you can just save it as an .ai file and import that into Flash. If you think that you will be editing the file, or will need to separate out layers from the Illustrator file in Flash, then Export from Illustrator to a Flash .swf. This will give you greater flexibility in Flash.

  • Flash Preloading - Not Simple

I am new, but to the extent that I have a full flash site
that works great. I cannot get any preloaders to work. Lets be
honest, I cannot even begin. Everyone assumes an expert, even the
    'simple flash preloader' sites.
Why not just use the component in Flash CS3? Why can't Adobe
help with this instead of sending me to google to get preloader
ideas? Why is the WMODE=transparent command not recommended if you
want transparency (as a supposive fix to the white box)? Preloaders
    are not simple for non-developers.
    Simply, I have a background.jpg in an HTML document. I load a
flash in a table on top. It shows white in the table before the
flash loads. Adobe's answer is to use a preloader. OK. Great. I
found several, all of which insert so many variables that I can't
tell what is really a variable or not. I have no desire to become a
preloader retailer....OK? I just need a preloader. Explicatives
removed. I simply want to load literally "video1.swf" without
getting a white box. A progress bar would be nice. Will this be a
seperate flash (swf), or will it be inserted in the timeline as
seperate layers in the timeline to play before the original frames?
Must I combine my original video1 file into a movie symbol, then
manipulate it in another timeline with a preloader?
Please do not assume ANYTHING. I need to get this done once
    and for all.
Please, just make it simple. Attached is some code I found.
Can it be edited to work with the "ProgressBar" in CS3? If there is
an option, a seperate swf would be better as I have several pages
that are setup the exact same way.
    Thank you.

Seeing white is nothing to do with a preloader - set the bg
    of your movie to
other than white. If you're using something like SWFObject to
    embed your
Flash in the HTML, make sure it's not set to a white bg also.
Aside from that a preloader is not too difficult to build -
    and the code you
gave as a sample is bad code, which is likely the source of
    your problems. I
don't have Flash 9 yet, but in 8 you would want to use the
    MovieClipLoader
class to load in your swf. It has an onLoadProgress method
    that you can make
use of to build a progress bar.

  • [Bug] Playing stream audio from the editor almost always starts from beginning.

Whenever I am creating a movie clip with an audio layer set to "stream" I usually click certain points of the movie and hit enter to see and hear it. In Flash CC however, it seems about 95% of the time no matter what frame I am on when I hit enter the audio starts from the beginning and is not in sync. There have been a few cases in which the audio started at right frame but I haven't yet been able to isolate the process. Audio works great in the exported SWF, this issue is just just with the editor.

This bug still hasn't been fixed. I don't recommend Flash for any animator; the issue makes syncing to music and vocals extremely frustrating. This bug has been around for months without solution.
Running as administrator does not solve the problem.
You will have the audio bug even if you do not have a Beats Audio Soundcard.
The longer and more complicated your project, the more frequently the bug happens. When it first begins (around 15-30 seconds worth of frames and about 7 layers) you can make the audio stream as it should by clicking your audio track, setting it to "stop," saving your project, and setting the audio to "stream" again.
However, when you have about 60 seconds on your timeline, the bug happens a lot more, and you have to actually close the project to get the sound to work again if you do not have the patience to wait for it to fix itself. The wait ranges from 30 seconds to several minutes to never fixed until you close. It's highly unpredicatable. Sometimes it is not enough to close the project, in which case you must quit Flash and start it up again.
It happens with both mp3 and wav sounds.
After a month of this bug, I still can't pinpoint what causes it. It's completely random.
This post suggests it has something to do with scrubbing the timeline. I haven't been able to replicate the bug by doing this. It happens whether or not you use the slider or just click on frames to navigate.
    My system specs:

Mountain lion download is very slow and in-between it hangs of and starts from beginning. Is there a solution I have already purchased it can I download a torrent and authorize it. Somebody pl. Help

Exactly. Some of us don't understand the situation in India. This is a country with sickest internet speeds. The internet segment is dominated by fraudulant companies. There is no consistency that is why most of the data transfer here is through Pen drives and torrent websites. We have never seen a good downlooad speed here. And on the top of inconsistency lies the Mac book Air without a built in RJ45 port.
If i have to do it in an internet cafe it will cost me more time and money than to purchase a Mac book air itself. Apple should start giving us software loaded flash drives at least at premium.

    Hi,
in first place thanks for your help. I booted from CD, and gave the location of my flash image, then started the installation, but, about 60 % of execution, i got an error message like this:
fopen: No such file or directory
ERROR: Unable to unconfigure the extracted system
Unable to unconfigure the extracted system
And the system hanged. After that i have to make Stop + A to recover control on the system.
so, do you have any idea about this message?
