Flash Pro CC - Reverse Upgrade: Import functions gone

I use Flash for one thing only: creating graphic assets in the Library which are assigned class names and exported to SWCs. I do all my development in an IDE (PowerFlasher). A big part of this process is converting Illustrator and Photoshop assets into Flash libraries.
I need to make decisions on a layer by layer basis as to how each layer is imported (bitmap, vector etc), registration points, instance names etc.
And frequently the source files are modified in which case I would only want to select the modified layers for import.
Removing the import dialogs for Illustrator and Photoshop makes Flash CC practically useless for me. A clearer case of "reverse upgrade" have I never encountered previously.

Hi Sudeshna sarkar
Are you serious. First you drop Action Script 2.0 and now you take away a very important feature like this because it's too complex for other users. This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. Just put the more advanced features under an advanced setting. This way you can have the simplified version for those that found it complex to use and the advanced features for those that desperately need it. Everybody wins.
Do you guys actually use this software. Yes there is an Edit with option for images that are in the library but there isn't any edit with option for ai files at least none that I am aware of. If their is please point me in the right direction in how to find it? Also how is not making multiple versions of files just to have one layer on or off not making it more complex.
So from what I am hearing this is your approach for example you have a illustrator file with lets say 8 layers in it. If we save the illustrator with all 8 layers. Flash CC will import all 8 layers giving us no option to select the layers we want like we had in CS6. So if I just want 2 layers on I have to go and save another file with just 2 layers on so it will only import those 2 layers. So tell me how am I going to name these files. Filename_2_layers_on.ai then Filename_5_layers_on.ai. How ridiculous is that.
There is lots of times people import an illustrator file into flash only to realilze later on that they want to import another layer maybe from another illustrator file or another project all together or maybe you decide to add another layer to your project. The way you guys have it everytime someone has to do one of these things and believe me these are just some examples of diffrent scenarios users face, they have to save off a different file version everytime or if they don't save off diffrent versions then if I want to get one layer our of a 100 layer file. Flash CC will import all 100 layers to the stage so I can get that one layer I wanted. Now I have to go and delete all 99 extra layers. I don't know about you but this way of thinking is way more complex and definitely not user friendly.
I guess we all will be sticking with CS6 or older version until adobe realizes what they have done. Seriously what were you guys thinking
Adam great post you are so right on everything you said. This seriously needs to be fixed asap

  • Flash Pro CC vs CS6, Import to Stage

    Seemingly simple question:
In CS6, you can, through the menu, Import to Stage a .swf file into a Movie Clip symbol.
In CC, you cannot.  Attempting to Import to Stage a .swf file into a Movie Clip throws an error.
Why was this functionality removed in CC?

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one.  I'm genuinely curious, though.  It seems like they kept that functionality for all previously supported file types except .swf.  They allow it to work in CS6, and loading a project into CC that you've put through this process in CS6 works just fine - you just have to have CS6 available to Import to Stage that .swf in the first place, which is ridiculous.

  • Flash Pro CC classpath

Flash pro CC canot find import of fl.video.  No problems importing flash.xxx classes. The product was working fine for two weeks and now it cant find anything that starts with fl.xxx.

Make sure you have your FLA open that contains the FLVPlayback. When I close that FLA, Flash CC stops with the fl.* auto completion:
    That path should be:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CC\Common\Configuration\ActionScript 3.0\libs (Windows)
    It contains a flash.swc file.
The fl.video.* is added when you add the FLVPlayback component however.
Needless to say you do have FLVPlaybackCaptioning in your library correct? I get no errors in an external .as accessing the FLVPlaybackCaptioning class as long as I have a FLVPlayback component in my library as well.

    Like this?

  • Importing .avi clips into Flash Pro 8..

I have flash pro 8, and I was attempting to import a .avi
(Video Clip) file into Flash Pro 8, and... it instantly crashes the
program with no error message, no lag, nothing. Just instantly
shuts the whole program down as if I had simply pressed the "X"
button at the top of the window.
Is there any fixes for this? I need to do this for a school
    project.

    Hi.
Thanks both of you for your comments, but the .avi file is
less than 40 seconds long, and is a bit smaller than 6MB. I have
imported a 15MB .avi file into Flash before with no problems. It
isn't hiding either, I checked my processes in the Task Manager,
and it isn't there, it's just completely gone. I need to figure
this out by the end of two weeks. I cannot convert it to a smaller
file type, because I need it to retain 100% of it's quality.
    Thanks

Please google search for "Mountain Lion disk crash" before upgrading you mac pro. You might need to replace you Mac hard drive after the upgrade. So many people had the same problems including me.
Be aware of the Mountain Lion upgrade problem.

I'm using PC with Windows 8.1. I got onto the Creative Cloud and downloaded "Flash Professional CC and Mobile Device Packaging (2014)". <--- That would be the file. I can't open or run it from CC and I couldn't find a file in my computer either.
I've also found direct downloads for the trial version and hit the set-up button, it loads up, and then nothing happens.

FCP 10.1 DV capturing from camera breaking the scenes into unwanted clips by flashing a black screen on import window. But its fine and accurate with adobe premiere pro cc ?
    Any solution * Advance Thanks

FCP X will import into separate clips every time it detects a scene change (as when you stopped and started recording in the camera). There is no option to avoid this, as far as I known.
You may try importing from camera using Quicktime Player X and then bringing the imported file into FCP X.

  • Does GPU upgrade makes Flash Pro Cs6 faster?

    Hi,
I have been using Flash Pro cs6 for character animation and when i zoom in zoom out the response is slow and also when i am scrolling to may timeline.
I have lots of symbols and tweening.
I notice that when I use the pc in the office its much smoother so i am planning to upgrade my own pc at home.
    I have:
    Amd Phenom II X4 840
    8 gb ram
    ATI Firepro v4800
I have a limited budget so i am thinking if i upgrade my GPU with Asus GTX strix 960 2gb, will it solve the issue?

No. GPU acceleration is only used on playback of published files and for video decoding. Your main processor is the bottleneck here.

  • Importing Flash Pro library symbols from Starling class

Very new to Starling. I have succesfully created a project and seen some great performance when scrolling the pages in the online comicbook I'm making.
However, I need to place interactive, invisible hotspots on top of my comicbook pages. Placing these hotspots via code would be quite cumbersome - it would be much better to design these interactive layers in Flash Pro so I can drag/drop their exact placement. The structure I want is:
NORMAL STAGE LAYER -> Interactive hotspots
    on top of
    STAGE3D LAYER -> Comicbook pages
I'm aware that the hotspot layers won't run on the GPU, only the pages underneath. But I'd like to try it out anyway.
However, once I've created the hotspot layers in Flash Pro and given them linkage names, I can't figure out how to import them onto the comicbook pages. This is obviously because they are flash.display.movieclips and the Starling class that tries to import them expects Starling movieclips.
Is there any workaround for this? Either a way to be able to refer to both types of movieclips from the same class (preferably) - or a way to create two classes that add the pages and the hotspots respectively. Code examples would be great.

Have you perhaps considered using this:
    starling.core.Starling  - Native Overlay
Not that I'd do that myself. I know we all want our cake and eat it too but I really think you should work within the framework and re-create the hotspots using Starling sprites and add listeners to them. You can read the original flash hitareas x/y position as well as height and width. If it's just rectangles, that's all you need to know to generate the hit area in Starling. Even if it's not just rectangles you can draw the Flash hitarea object (assuming it's a flash symbol) into a Starling object as you're most likely doing with the comic book pages themselves. You just need to apply listeners.

  • I'm have problems Importing with the Adobe Premiere Pro (original version upgrade

Hi all. I’m having a similar problem that I've seen posted on here but I have Adobe Premiere Pro (the first version upgrade.) I upgraded it from Premiere 5.0. Thank you Eddy. I appreciate all the help and feedback I get from the website.
Also, someone suggested I convert the Mpegs to AVI files first. What do you know about AVS Video Remaker download to use to convert it???

  • Oh crap,... flex is gone and macromedia flash pro 8 too

now how am i going to make flash with free products?
    who else is leading?
    now what?

Neither Flex nor Flash Pro are gone; but there are some occurences over the past six years that you'll want to educate yourself on.
    Here is a short summary:
Macromedia was acquired by Adobe.  Since then, most Macromedia products have been rebranded as Adobe products; including Flash Professional.
Flex was released for free and then open sourced.  The open source version is available from the Adobe Open Source site.  More info about Flex is on Adobe's site.  Development continues, and Flex 5 was recently greenlight by Adobe.
The Flex IDE, which used to be called Flex Builder, has been renamed to Flash Builder.  Version 1 was based on dreamweaver, but version 2 (and later) were based on Eclipse; the Java editor.

After following these instructions, the entire suite was deactivated and now dipalys a message that our trial that will expire in 10 days (in the middle of an upcoming charity event). Is there any way to reactivate CS6? Is the only option to delete all CS programs? Can we download CS6 again with the same product key?

In general theory, one now has the Edit button for their posts, until someone/anyone Replies to it. I've had Edit available for weeks, as opposed to the old forum's ~ 30 mins.
That, however, is in theory. I've posted, and immediately seen something that needed editing, only to find NO Replies, yet the Edit button is no longer available, only seconds later. Still, in that same thread, I'd have the Edit button from older posts, to which there had also been no Replies even after several days/weeks. Found one that had to be over a month old, and Edit was still there.
Do not know the why/how of this behavior. At first, I thought that maybe there WAS a Reply, that "ate" my Edit button, but had not Refreshed on my screen. Refresh still showed no Replies, just no Edit either. In those cases, I just Reply and mention the [Edit].
Also, it seems that the buttons get very scrambled at times, and Refresh does not always clear that up. I end up clicking where I "think" the right button should be and hope for the best. Seems that when the buttons do bunch up they can appear at random around the page, often three atop one another, and maybe one way the heck out in left-field.
While I'm on a role, it would be nice to be able to switch between Flattened and Threaded Views on the fly. Each has a use, and having to go to Options and then come back down to the thread is a very slow process. Jive is probably incapable of this, but I can dream.

  • Flash Pro vector import continually crashing

Hi Fellow Adobe Creative Cloud members...thank you in advance for any help that is available. Just started with Creative Cloud - was a user of CS4 suite until now.
A lot of work is done between Illustrator and Flash by copying and pasting artwork from Illustrator into Flash...this has always worked brilliantly - frustratlingly though this action is causing continous fatal crashes in Flash Pro CS6...at first I of course wondered if it was the artwork, but trying to copy and paste across a simple shape does exactly the same thing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Flash but no different...
Has anyone else had this issue at all please? I am about to send the error to report as a bug but there may be an easy explanation for this?
I am on PC using Windows 8 (not sure if that could be the problem of course)...
    Thank you for any help.

Thank you very much for this Ken, much appreciated. I didn't come across this information when searching for this issue, but this could explain it.
I hope this is due to be addressed soon as in the meantime I will need to continue working on another machine with Windows 7...
    Thank you again Ken.
