Flash pro + recent windows update = HUGE FONT BUG!

Hi,
I jsut wanted to share my recent pain in you know where. Last week around wednesday Flash IDE (cs 5.5) stopped to display most custom fonts. I could create a text field (talking about the classic text field) and put a text there, however If i chose:
- custom font (e.g. Futura, Helvetica...)
- any anti-aliasing method (readbility, animation, custom)
then the font was not visible at all in Flash IDE and even in published SWF.
So after a day of reinstalling both software and system (Windows 7 pro x64) I found out that the problem is caused by recent windows update. Since I installed clean system and disabled automatic system update everything wokrs fine. This happend to my colleague as well with flash cs5 and Windows 7 pro x64.
So to all of you flash people there - I just wanted to ask if you experienced same problem, so we know if this is just individual problem or common thing. For now I can only recommend not to download recent windows update until this issue is solved (if there is any).
For adobe guys - did you get any report about this?

I have seen this problem on a bunch of iMacs running bootcamp at multiple sites. The issue is definetly a mixture of ATI graphics cards and a recent windows update (I have not been able to identify which one). The fix has been simple though.
1. Reboot the iMac
2. Hold down the Option(alt) key
3. Select Windows partition
4. Quicky tap the F8 key after the partition selection
5. Select Enable VGA mode
6. Install BootCamp 3.0 drivers.
7. Reboot
That should do it. I have fixed about 20 macs this way, no fuss, plus the newer drivers add a whole bunch of enhancements to the iMac running XP.

Outlook 2010 and 2013 hang on when starting up after recent Windows Updates (April 2014)

I have roughly 140 or so installs of Outlook in my organization and I have been getting reports of Outlook hanging on startup. It seems to be associated with a windows update but I don't know which one. I have had success resolving the issue
by rolling back the recent updates (using system restore), but in this one case, there were 30 or so updates that were rolled back. Unfortunately, I had move quick on that computer. I had another computer yesterday with the same issue and have
a report of yet another today. I need to figure this out before it becomes and epidemic! Anyone else seeing this? It does not appear to effect everyone.

If you are sure that recent Windows Updates caused this issue, We recommend you to remove the newly installed updates.
You don't have to roll back using system restore, just go to Control panel>Program and features>View installed updates and uninstall newly installed updates.
I currently haven't observed any user report the same issue. If this is confirmed by Microsoft that some recently released updates cause Outlook hangs problem, there will be a fixed version published later on; either a newer version or a new KB article.

Flash Pro CS 5.5 Runtime Sharing Bug - Fonts

I have an issue with an apparent bug in Flash Pro CS5.5
I have recently upgraded to CS5.5 Master Collection from my previous version of 4.0
The bug is when I create a fonts FLA file with fonts embedded in it that I want to use throughout an entire site. I correctly configure those fonts as export for runtime sharing.
In any other FLAs in which I wish to use the shared fonts, I either (a) drag the assets from one library to the other, or (b) add them to the new fla and configure them as import for runtime sharing (both of which achieve the same result).
The second FLA simply embeds the outlines of the fonts, and does not use the shared asset at all.
There are a few references online that offer work-arounds, one of which is to port all my actionscript 2 code to actionscript 3 and then use the actionscript 3 font loading library. This is unacceptable.
The other option is not to use runtime sharing for my fonts. This is also unacceptable as it is a feature I have always relied on.
CS 5.0 has no problem with any of this procedure.
I have been 'On Hold' to Adobe Support for about 4 hours over the last 3 weeks - promised twice for a call back from a Senior Technician, which I am still yet to receive. Speaking with people unqualified to answer my issue has been frustrating and a complete waste of time.
If there are any Adobe Flash Techs reading this, I would appreciate some help, advice, acknowledgement, anything...

The software is used for commercial services, which I cannot currently deliver to clients. In the time I have waiting for this case to be resolved, my trial version of CS5.0 has expired - and now I'm being crippled by a software provider I have loyally built my service around.

Yep, the problem definitely still exists in CS6 12.0.2.529. I have hundreds of source files for lessons being used by students from PA to TX, and this BUG is making it impossible to work with the files.
First of all, if a library object is imported for runtime sharing, then it shoudl be loaded from that external source when the file is opened, and flash should keep a file system watcher on the source RSL file so that when it changes, it automatically updates the library definition.
Furthermore, the "Authortime Sharing" seems to handle these updates automatically, but it requires a source FLA file, and once you set one, there's no way to unlink from it. If you decide you don't want to use Authortime Sharing, and just use the "import for runtime sharing" option instead, you're screwed. There is no way to unassociate a file from a source FLA once you choose one. This needs to be fixed immediatly, or RSL and Authortime sharing are useless in Flash CS6.
Did you guys somehow patch CS5.5, without carrying the fixes forward to CS6? lol. This is confusing.

Recent Windows Update make Flash player freeze Internet Explorer

Hello guys,
I've run an Windows Update of a Windows 2008R2 Terminal server last night and these updates cause Internet Explorer freeze on every website which contains flash animation.
If I disable FLash module, the problem disappers (but no more flash animation ).
As Flash 11.4 was previously installed, I've try to replace it with a newer version of flash 11.5, but this don't solved my issue.
Do you know how can I solve my issue ?
Can I provide you some debug log to help you ? (And how can I get these debug log ?)
Please found a list of all the update which have been done last night. Hope this will help you.
Software used :
- Windows 2008R2 Terminal Server
- Internet Explorer 9
- Flash player 11.4 (try 11.5 but trouble still there)

Installed recent Windows updates and now iTunes refuses to run

I installed the most recent Windows 7 updates:
- Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB2467174)
- Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems
- Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB2467175)
Ever since then, I have been unable to open iTunes. It will start up the iTunes process and before the window even comes up it quits. I have tried following some of the guides on the "Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues" folder in the iTunes Support section of the iTunes website. I've tried the msconfig thing but no luck. From what I see, there's nothing else that's changed with my computer other than the updates.
I really have no idea what to do. Can anyone help?

Also, seems like Quicktime isn't running. I didn't get an error message either.

In recent times, the error-message-free iTunes and QuickTime launch failures have been indicating that another application has stashed old QuickTime componentry in your system files. (Those sorts of applications often use the Visual C++ runtimes to keep track of the componentry, so it seems consistent that an update to those could cause the symptoms to flare up on a PC.)
So just in case we'll go looking for older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
Open the "Windows" folder.
If you have a 32-bit Windows 7, open the "System32" folder.
If you have a 64-bit Windows 7, open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

Installation Flash Pro CS6, Windows 7 64 bit PC installation gets stuck

New download of Flash Pro CS6, first attempted to install on a PC running Windows 7 64 bit. The installation got stuck and unresponsive at the "Installing AdobeHelp" stage (approx 30% into the install.
I then tried the install on a PC running Windows XP 32 bit and exactly the same thing happened.
I am unable to proceed further - anyone got any advice?

OK, my response above was for the Windows 7 64 bit installation.
The advice to close the Adobe Help process was valid for the Windows XP 32 bit installation & installation is now complete.
I'll try a compatability install on the Windows 7 PC & see what happens.

Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V guests lose NIC after recent Windows Update

Hi Folks,
I have a Windows 2008R2 Hyper-V server with 20 guests. They have been using a standard network adapter for 2 years. Last night after running this months windows updates on a number of the guest VMs, each running Windows 2008R2 some of these
adapters disappeared. That is they are not visible in "network adapters" on the guest VM, the static IP configuration is gone and instead the VM had a dynamically assigned IP shown in IP config to a Microsoft VM bus network adapter #2.
The other machines that didn't have updates run on them and have adapters visible show a Microsoft VM bus network adapter.
I don't see anything obvious in event viewer.
I've done the basic "reinstall integration services" but it still doesn't show a configurable network adapter.
I've uninstalled the windows updates and "reinstalled integration services" no luck.
Does anyone have recommendations on next steps?
I'll update the post as I move forward.

If you can see the lost NIC adapter then try to remove it uninstall it then rescan the device to see if there have the virtual NIC adapter found.

Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.

Unable to print wirelessly following most recent windows update

My LaserJet M1217nfw MFP has stopped working since the latest Windows updates (on 8.1) have been installed. I uninstalled the update and it worked again but don't want my system to be out-of-date. I am now using the cable to print. Microsoft were no help and referred me to HP. Is this a common issue and is there a fix?

I see that you were having issues printing after a Windows Update. I would like to help.
I have seen this happen on several occasions, the Windows Update most likely replaces the HP drivers, therefore causing the printer not to print. I would do a manual Windows Update, this way you can uncheck any HP Updates so the update doesn't interfere with the original HP drivers. (usually listed under critical updates) How to Manually Update Windows 8.
If it happens again though, check the driver that was installed, you might be able to just update it.
Wireless Printer Prints a Partial Page or Fails to Print All Pages in Windows 8.
Disregard the title please. Go to Step 4: Add your wireless network printer using the Control Panel. You will notice in step 11, the Class Driver was installed instead of the printer name.

You could always restore your computer back to a earlier time when everything was working properly.

I realize that you would prefer all the Windows updates to update the computer, but this should also resolve the issue for the printer drivers.

Lync freezes after recent Windows updates

Shortly after installing the latest Windows updates, the Lync client started to freeze. It starts and logs me in, but after a few moments it freezes and is not responding to any actions. For what it's worth, if I try to schedule a new Lync meeting in Outlook
using the Lync Add-In, Outlook freezes as well.

TouchSmart 320-1050 Win7 Pro After Windows update, login results in a black screen + white cursor

After some Microsoft automatic upgrades were done om my HP TouchSmart 320-1050 this week, when I logged in after the reboot, all I got was a blank (black) screen and a white arrow cursor, which worked fine -but there was nothing -no video output on the screen. Even a <CTL><ALT><DEL> did not bring anything up on the screen and I had to force the system down with a hard power down. I tried with user logins and Administrator login but the behaviour was the same.
I could boot and get a picture in SAFE mode but not with a normal boot and login. There were NO ERRORS in the Windows event logs that seemed to shed any light on the issue.
The system was shipped with Windows 7 Home Premium however I upgraded to Windows 7 Pro so I could join my domain.
I couldn't diagnose the problem -with nothing showing on my screen- so last night I check what updates were installed to see about de-installing them from Safe mode.
After de-installing the most recent Microsoft HotFix (KB2679255) and rebooting .... POOF! I had my desktop displayed again after I logged in.
I don't know what piece of software was interacting with this HotFix - but thought I should post the issue, just in case someone else encountered the problem... or someone in HP Support wants to investigate ... (Let me know and I'll supply what info I can.)
