Flash problems: stopping on videos

I am using Flash via the flashplugin package. When I try to run a flash video on youtube, the sound goes for a second, then quits. I can't find anything on google (though there are tons of flash topics). Please help.
Smartboy
EDIT: Some videos don't even play sound.
EDIT2: *smacks head* I restarted Firefox and it worked.

Yeah, restarting firefox (which is the only way to restart flash afaik) "fixes" it. For about five minutes.

    Why did my IPad 3 stop playing video. It won't even upload them now.

    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • Adobe Flash Will Stop Working After Advertisements In Middle Of Video

    I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the new version (11.3.300.268) of Adobe Flash, along with restarting my computer, and using Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome.
    My OS: Windows 7 (64-Bit)
    My flash works fine for streaming on CTV as well as Youtube. I continue to have problems using global and slice video centres.
    On Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome - video was able to load, watching the first 10 min of any video and once an advertisement during the video plays (like a commercial), video will go black and stay that way.
    Now on Firefox, when I press play to watch a video on global or slice video will freeze my whole computer for 30 seconds to approximately 1 minute and then turn into a grey screen and show a message saying adobe has crashed. I have sent a crash report on that multiple times.
    It was working fine a few days ago. Not sure if I had updated something which caused Adobe Flash to stop working. Would like to know how to fix it.

    This seems like a problem with Flash. Have you contacted Adobe about this?

  • After Flash Player, the youtube videos stop working after 1st second.

    Hi guys,
    I have a couple of Dell pc's with win7 professional 64bit.
    Some of them on IE10 and other's on IE11.
    The thing is after the installation of the latest Flash Player version, the videos on YouTube stop after the 1st second.
    If I remove the Flash Player the YouTube works fine.
    Anyone have the same problem?
    Regards
    Ricardo Rebelo

    Hi again,
    I found the "source" of the issue, the pc's don't have speakers, so after I plug in some headphones the YouTube run without problems.
    So there is any way to configure Flash Player to do not search for "playback devices"?
    Regards

  • Why in the world is the most current version of firefox AND flash having TONS of problems playing hulu videos? either chewing the crap out of my processor but playing ok, or chewing the crap out of my processor and not even playing video at all?

    used to be firefox and hulu got along just fine, never had my computer get retarded slow or any of the other things its currently doing while there's a tab open with hulu... but here lately its been eating the snot outta my processor (between firefox.exe and plugin container the two are consistently using 100% of my processor... most of it being firefox.exe itself)
    and tonight i cant watch hulu at all. the video shows a frame then its another 10-15 seconds before another single frame is showed.
    my firefox is the most current version.
    my adobe flash player plugin is the most current version.
    there's no reason this should be happening but it is happening and its friggin annoying
    ============================
    this happens anytime i'm in the part of hulu that has the player for showing whatever episode i'm attempting to watch. when i attempt to watch hulu i have no other tabs open and no other excess programs running on my computer, and firefox+plugincontainer run my CPU to 100% just between those two processes. i can browse around the internet just fine (like checking my email, or even getting to my queue list on hulu, which i have my homepage set as.. the queue list loads fine but the player part of hulu is when things go to crap)
    and i just tried the exact same episode of lie to me that i couldnt watch on firefox.... tried watching it on internet explorer and its playing perfextly fine EVEN WHILE FIREFOX IS OPEN.
    firefox is my preferred browser and i hope this junk can be fixed somehow.

  • I have an IMac 10.5.2 from about 5 years ago and recently my flash player stopped responding.  I tried to update my flash player but it tells me I need an updated system to install the player.  Can anyone help me figure out how to solve this problem?

    I have an imac osx 10.5.2 from about five years ago and recently my flash player stopped operating/responding.  Does anyone know if I have to install a new flash player?  I have attempted it several times and it won't let me.  I would appreciate any suggestions on how to solve this problem.  Do I need a new operating system?

    Why have you not updated to 10.5.8?
    You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version,10.3.183.23 or later, is for Intel Macs only running Tiger or Leopard, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.4.402.265 or later is for Snow Leopard onwards.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC (G4 or G5) Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
    You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
    and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications (including Safari) first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
    After installing, reboot your Mac and relaunch Safari, then in Safari Preferences/Security enable ‘Allow Plugins’. If you are running 10.6.8 or later:

  • Problem on flash, cannot play movie error(Adobe Flash CS3 stop working)... help guys...

    Just a minute ago my .fla file can be played. But after several minute when I added movie clips and animations. It just crashed down I guess, Adobe Flash CS3 stop working. I'm using Microsoft Vista operating system. I have an antivirus subscription which is McAfee with automatic update. I think it's a virus or what? I dunno what to do. I got a long way already with my animation on my file. When I will start from the very beginning it would be a mess and it will consumed a lot of time.
    Four to five attempts of testing the movie:
    error msg: Adobe Flash CS3 stop working.
    After several minute, test the movie again:
    error msg: Flash CS3 memory overload, I dont know the exact error message.
    I inspect the microsoft dialog and views the problem, it says APPCRASH, Flash.exe and has several .dll and other components did not load.
    Need help,
    Godspeed us all,

    first, open flash without opening a fla.  if it opens ok, create a new fla and save it.  close flash and reopen the new empty fla and test it.
    if that all works ok, open your project fla.  save it with a different name.  close flash, reopen the renamed project fla and attempt to test it.  any problem?

  • Video/flash problem

    just a while ago i got a software update message and updated, safari, apple remote client desk or something close and security update. now can't open any videos like on huffingtonpost.com. i get a message that i have to now upday my flash player. i thought that apple chose not to do business with adobe and now we didn't need flash player and stuff still played.
    the question now is should i download the latest flash player to see videos that need it or will it harm the mac? can i go back in time somewhere and reload an earlier safari if that is the culprit or security download if that is the culprit? make the answer simple. geezers are not always tecnologically advanced. thanks.

    did you download the software updates too or did flash just stop working? i am leerry of downloading flash as we haven't had to use it for a couple of years and yet videos worked as if flash was installed. did you install flash independently despite apple's not using flash for the last few osx versions etc?
    when things go bad i get nervous and don't want to screw it up more. you guys who help are valuable assets and thanks to you , rkaufmann etc.

  • Memory leak problems with loading videos over and over.

    I'm having memory leak problems with loading videos into a VideoPlayer aswell as FLVPlayback.
    What the flash should do:
    - Should be running for 7 days without having to restart the projector.
    - Interface that shows people around a 360 3D model with 5 different parts and at the stops it makes during the rotation you can click to zoom in on a location which plays a movie for that aswell.
    - Shows a video out of 5 parts for a 360 rotation in 3D in mp4 video (added each time and cleaned up, see code below).
    - Still images are used when the video clips are done playing (MovieClip in stage).
    - Should run automatically when there is no user interaction for X minutes.
    What the problem is:
    - The flash (as a exe and swf i guess) starts to consume memory over time (say 10 hours) until the projector crashes. This usually at around 1.75 GB of memory.
    I cannot see why the Flash cannot garbage collect this and free up the memory. Mabye there is something I don't understand about the garbage collection in flash?
    Here is some code from the video loading and playing:
    var fVideo:VideoPlayer;
    VideoCreate();
    function VideoReady(pEvent:VideoEvent):void
    trace("VideoReady()");
         // start playing video
    fVideo.play();
    function VideoLoad(pUrl:String):void
         trace("VideoLoad(" + pUrl +
         VideoCreate();
         if (pUrl != "")
              if (fVideoFolder + pUrl == fVideo.source)
                   fVideo.seek(0);
    VideoReady(null);
              } else {
    trace(fVideo.state);
                   if (fVideo.state !=
    VideoState.DISCONNECTED) fVideo.stop();
    fVideo.close();
    fVideo.load(fVideoFolder + pUrl);
         } else {
    // error no url
    function VideoCreate():void
         trace("VideoCreate()");
         // remove old one
         if (getChildAt(0) == fVideo)
              removeChildAt(0);
         fVideo = new
    VideoPlayer(1024, 768);
         addChildAt(fVideo, 0);
         fVideo.autoRewind = false;
    fVideo.addEventListener(VideoEvent.COMPLETE, VideoDonePlaying);
    fVideo.addEventListener(VideoEvent.READY, VideoReady);

    Hmm. It's in connection with Dropbox. Så apparantly you can only use one of the two at the same time if you want the programs integrated in Finder.

  • How to Stop a Video in ActionScript 3

    I have created a flash site that navigates between 4 pages (Home, About, Play, Making)
    The pages Play and Making both contain videos that are a movie clip symbol and have skins on them.
    When i press play (I turned off autorun) on a video it will play as should do, but when i navigate to another page such as Home or About, the new page will appear but the sound from the video continues to run in the background.
    It's as if it keeps that page in the background and keeps playing. When i attempt to go back to the page and try to press pause - the video is at the beginning, waiting for me to press play, its not going at all, even though i can still hear the music of it going.
    I want to know how i can make it stop the video when i navigate to another page.
    I have tried to put "instance_name.stop()" but it stops all animations in the whole site. (every other animation is a graphic not a movie clip)
    I run Flash CS5 and its in an actionscript 3 page.
    How can i make it stop????
    If you need more info to help me with this problem, let me know  and i will tell you what you need...

    The very first action in any of the page navigation should be a control on the video to stop the video. Then.... and only after the video has been stopped, navigate to the next page.
    Most likely your video player has a "Stop" button. Call that action first in your page navigation button.
    If you are using NetStream, then you'll want that action to be
    netstream.close();
    so that the download of that first video file also stops. Other wise the entire first video file may be downloaded even if the viewers does not watch the whole thing. Be sure to do some testing to make just you can also stop the downloading, not just turn off the video/audio.
    Best wishes,
    Adninjastrator

  • Problems with multiple videos

    We would like to add some "help" tutorial videos to our models.  The first video that I added worked perfectly; the flash player controls appeared as they should at the bottom of the video and I'm able to start and stop the video as needed using these controls.
    The problem comes when I try to add a second video.  When playing the second video, the flash player controls at the bottom do not appear.  The video starts playing immediately with no way to stop it.  If I go to another video, the next video just starts playing over the top of the others.
    Is there a way to use more than one video in a model?  I have tried using different types of selectors; accordion menu, label based menu, toggle buttons.  We would like to have several tutorials go with our model.
    I am using Xcelsius 2008 Engage with SP1, FP 2
    Thank you

    Hi Alban,
    I see what you are seeing. Could you send your file so I can investigate more? Send it to [email protected], with a link to this thread in the message body. If the file is >20mb, our email system cannot handle it so use a service like Adobe SendNow.
    Thanks,

  • Flash Player stopped working for Chrome in Windows 8

    Randomly, the flash player stopped working for Chrome. I run a Windows 8 system. Everytime I go to a website that uses the flash plugin (youtube, video streaming websites) a bar pops up telling me that the plug in will only work in the desktop. I've never encountered this problem before.
    I have:
    1. Checked to see if I needed updates. I'm all updated.
    2. Reinstalled Chrome to try and fix it, to no avail.
    Additionally, when I view the Flash Player settings from my control panel, under Advanced Settings, it says that the plug in version is not installed. However, I'm unable to click on that or click on the settings that say "Allow Adobe to install updates (recommended)".
    What is going on? I really disllike running Chrome from the desktop and would like this to be fixed.

    Chrome uses its own "proprietary" build of Flash Player, so you WON'T see any plugin in your control panel for it. You verify that it's enabled by typing "chrome://plugins" in your Chrome address bar. I'd provide a screenshot but I've REMOVED Chroime from EVERY system I have because it uses WAY TOO MUCH processor and  it was launching by itself in the background on my Win 8 machine. I won't tolerate that out of ANY software.

  • Flash player stop to work with Firefox

    Ok it’s just killing me!! Flash player stop to work
    with Firefox
    All my web site users including me have this problem and I
    guess all the millions of mozilla users
    When you press play it’s not working or it’s no
    sound
    What solve the problem is to download oldest Flash-Player
    Please fix it as fast as you can.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the assistance Chris.  I tried the 11.7 option without success.  I downloaded the 11.7 file, I closed all browsers, used the flashplayer uninstaller, restarted the CPU, installed the 11.7 (with auto updates disabled).  Restarted Firefox, tested a Flickr video, same "no-play" results.
    However, after doing the same thing and downloading the Archive version http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/installers/archive/fp_10.3.183.75_archive.z ip I was able to play the Flickr videos!  WooHoo.
    I completed the update process to the latest version, and now the videos play properly with the latest version!
    Not sure what the bad actor was, the 11.7 version did not fix it, but the older 10.3 version did!
    Thanks to all for the assistance with this pain in the arse issue.
