Flash ProCS4 won't run on Snow leopard?

Whenever i try to open any kind of file in Flash CS4 (version 10.0.2) , it instantly crashes, and i get the error message "Flash has quit unexpectedly."
This problem has only started to happen since I recently upgraded my brand new macbook pro to Snow Leopard (mac osx 10.6.1).
All other CS4 programs run fine,
Any advice on how to fix this would be hugely appreciated !
Thanks in advance,
Tim

I guess your Flash CS4 was running fine prior to the upgrade to Snow Leopard...
Nevertheless, Flash CS4 runs fine on Snow Leopard, per many Snow Leopard users.
See, if launching from a new user account with Admin privileges makes any difference...
You may even have to try uninstalling Flash CS4 completely from the current account and installing from a new account if the above does not work...
Keep posting...

  • Starcraft won't run in Snow Leopard, need help...

    Heya,
So, as many other users have posted across the internet, the original Starcraft and Starcraft Brood Wars don't run in Snow Leopard. I'm wondering if anyone has any leads on patches or solutions currently?
    I'm running:
    15" Macbook Pro
    10.6.2
    2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4 GB 1067 Mhz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M & NVIDIA GeForce 9400M GT 265MB each.

    Thanks for the link!
Though that didn't help resolve my problem it did lead me to the solution.
I realized I was downloading the 1.16.1 patch instead of the OS X Native Installer for Mac. So once I downloaded that, my problem was solved. Though I did install Rosetta (Snow Leopard Disc -> Optional Installations -> Rosetta) but I don't think that was the issue.

  • Disk Utility won't run with Snow Leopard

I updated to Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and now when I run Disk Utility.app it says that it is version 11.1 and will not run. I'm not sure why this app didn't update at the same time. Where can I download 11.5 Disk Utility?
    Thanks!

make sure you are running the correct copy of DU. you likely have two copies and are trying to run the one which is not in the default location. in finder go to main hard drive->applications->utilities. start DU from there. if that's not it pull DU from the SL install DVD using Pacifist http://www.charlessoft.com/

Batteries die. All of them. Not all at the same time, of course, but there is no magic firmware or software solution out there that will stop batteries from dying.
Looking at your other post, you seem to need a new battery, not a software update.

  • Lightroom 5 doesn't run on Snow Leopard

I'm sure this is well know amongst readers here but I had no idea until after I purchased and tried to install. Now waiting for a refund. How did I miss this? I've used Lightroom for over 4 years. I read all the reviews of the beta and now the release of Lightroom 5. Somehow I failed to notice that the program won't run on Snow Leopard on the Mac. Amazing! I haven't wanted to upgrade my Mac OS for multiple reasons. Now I'm on a dead end road with Lightroom. I'll have to figure that out. My oversight but I wish that Adobe and the reviewers had made this fact more obvious. Maybe they did. I'm disappointed.

There’s usually a System Requirements section on the LR purchase pages.
Trying out the beta and trying out LR in Trial mode are the ways to avoid such issues.

  • Our imac runs osx snow leopard but it cant find the hard drive or it is corrupt, is it possible to reboot it with osx lion?

our imac recently displayed the white screen and flashing file icon with a question mark on it, it runs osx snow leopard but i dont have the installation disc, can i reboot it off the osx lion disc? or do i need to buy the snow leopard disc and reboot it off that first.  thanks for your help in advance!

Yes you can. If the iMac meets the system requirements for Lion then you can boot it off the Lion disc (which is actually a USB drive, unless you download and burn it yourself).

  • My app will no longer run under Snow Leopard, runs fine under Lion.

My app will no longer run under Snow Leopard, even though it was originally written for Snow Leopard.  It runs fine on my Dev machine under Lion. But when I test it on my Snow Leopard Mac Mini the app starts but the window does not appear. Going to file, new window does nothing. My depolyment target is set to 10.6. Is there something I did to make my app lose Snow Leopard compatiblty?

Does your application use features only available in Lion?  Are you getting any console logs?

  • Help! Aperture won't work with Snow Leopard...

I know you will all probably laugh at me because I have just upgraded to Snow Leopard.  The problem is that nobody told me my Aperture wouldn't work anymore! I can't even open it to retrieve my photos...(btw, this is why I was hesitant to upgrade...but I had to because I got the iphone 5 which wouldn't sync with my itunes version and that wouldn't update unless I went to snow leopard...and so on....).
So, the problem is that I need Aperture version 2.0. so I can update that to 2.1.4 and be compatible with Snow Leopard.  I have 1.5.6 and kept it that way because it was working for me and I just basically use Aperture as a photo storage system. I can't find 2.0 anywhere. I can't figure out how to uninstall snow leopard either. I need my photos back asap.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you in advance,
    Debi

    One more question, debi.
Does your Aperture icon show a circular ring like the ghostbusters? Like below for my CCC?
And is the "Kind" listed as "Application (PowerPC)" when you use "Get Info ⌘I)? That would indicate that your current Aperture version is still a PowerPC application. Then you can still make it run on Snow Leopard. You have to make sure that your Snow Leopard installation includes the Rosetta environment.
Do you have a Snow Leopard install disk? Look into the "Optional Installs" folder on this disk and open the "Optional Installs" package. Proceed as described in the second part of this
    article:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1167117/reinstalling_rosetta.html
If your Aperture 2 version is still a PoerPC app, installing Rosetta should enable you to run the aperture 2 installer from your installation disk and then upgrade to Aperture 2.1.4.
    Regards
    Léonie

It might be a PPC application. You may need the optional Rosetta install.

  • Pages 4.2 update doesn't run with Snow Leopard

I keep both Montain Lion and Snow Leopard on the same computer, different partitions. After upgrading Pages this week, it no longer runs under Snow Leopard.  The icon changes and a launch message says I can't use this version with Snow Leopard. It looks like this is true of all the iWorks apps. This is the first time I recall the iWorks suite not being backwards compatible.
My advice is to keep a backup copy or older iWorks releases if you need to run Snow Leopard. The App store only has the Mountain Lion version so I can't just download the SnowLeopard compatible version.

The same exact thing happened to me. I have a thread on this same issue but no one has responded. Did you find a way around this?

Tried to run a CD I had run with Snow Leopard. Now (with Lion) getting a message that PowerPC applications are no longer supported.. How do I overcome this? Thanks

Well Lion does not support power PC applications.  They only way is to upgrade the application, or if your have SL disks, reinstall SL.

  • FYI: New version of Disk Warrior seems to hang when run with Snow Leopard

FYI: It seems that the new version of Disk Warrior hangs when run in Snow Leopard

I have been using DW 4.2 on 10.5.8 and the speed-up was the first thing I noted, too, so it isn't just SL.
Now if it would only 'come up for air' and respond to input to move window (so I can put it where I can see it if needed) I'd like that.
There is a 23 page review of Snow Leopard on Ars. On page 22:
People sometimes ask what, exactly, is wrong with HFS+.
Aside from its obvious lack of the features just listed, HFS+ is limited in many ways by its dated design, which is based on HFS, *a twenty-five year-old file system.*
To give just one example, the centrally located Catalog File, which must be updated for each change to the file system's structure, is a frequent and inevitable source of contention. Modern file systems usually spread their metadata around, both for robustness (multiple copies are often kept in separate locations on the disk) and to allow for better concurrency.
Practically speaking, think about those times when you run Disk Utility on an HFS+ volume and it finds (and hopefully repairs) a bunch of errors. *That's bad, okay?* +*That's something that should not happen*+ with a modern, thoroughly checksummed, always-consistent-on-disk file system unless there are hardware problems (and a ZFS storage pool can actually deal with that as well). And yet it happens all the time with HFS+ disks in Mac OS X when various bits of metadata to get corrupted or become out of date.
Apple gets by year after year, tacking new features onto HFS+ with duct tape and a prayer, but at a certain point there simply has to be a successor—whether it's ZFS, a home-grown Apple file system, or something else entirely. My fingers are crossed for Mac OS X 10.7.
If Disk Utility was reliable in mapping out weak sectors (it is not) and report/log errors. But it doesn't and I trust my data to other file systems when possible. We've come to expect and depend on 3rd party utilities and that Apple First Aid doesn't fix every possible error.
Scanning one drive for errors can take a long time. Maybe it needs to be done, maybe in the background. With 2TB drives it gets worse. Spending hours to scan for errors??? I've set TechTool Pro to concurrently scan anywhere from one to a dozen volumes at once.
An ounce of prevention, as they say, is worth a pound of cure.

  • Re: New Garage Band - I have Mac OS X 10.6.8, Snow Leopard, and Garage Band 11.  If I download/install the new GB, will I lose GB 11?  And will it run on Snow Leopard?

Re: New Garage Band - I have Mac OS X 10.6.8, Snow Leopard, and Garage Band 11.  If I download/install the new GB, will I lose GB 11?  And will it run on Snow Leopard?

then had to find out (same as with this issue) that I presently have other software that will not run on Maverics.
You could create a clone of your drive with all your current software, so you could continue to work with your Snowleopard software by booting from the clone, and upgrade your main system to Mavericks, if your computer supports Mavericks.    This way, you could have both, if the new features of Mavericks are interesting to you -  e.g-, iCloud syncing of multiple Macs, new sharing features, and for GarageBand automatic drummers and arpeggiators.

  • Will iPhoto 9.3 run on Snow Leopard 10.6.8?

Will iPhoto 9.3 run on Snow Leopard 10.6.8? The App store on one of my 2 computers (both with iPhoto v.9.2.3 and both running 10.6.8) says an iPhoto update (9.3) is available, but when I check at the App store it says the min. requirement is 10.7.4. On my MacBook Pro offering the App store update, I bought iPhoto 11 originally from the App store. On my iMac, which is newer, iPhoto 11 (which is version 9) came with the computer and I have always got iPhoto updates through Software Update, but Software Update is not offering me an iPhoto update on that computer. So I am thinking that the App store notice on the MacBook Pro may not be accurate.

No  --  it requires the latest version of Lion - 10.7.4 as the App store tells you
